Just a general observation of a slightly different Happy Hour

Bubba is driving down a back road in Texas ..
A sign in front of a restaurant reads:
HAPPY HOUR SPECIAL
Lobster Tail and Beer
"Lordy mercy!" he says to himself, "Them's my three favorites!"

Tab clearing

Falsely accused of a gun crime, things you need to know.

Watch Commander Vimes has some conversations with himself at times about the Beast that waits back in the dark; Lawdog has a take on the same.

True; it's a lot easier to blame 'gun culture' than actually TALK ABOUT THE FRIGGIN' PROBLEMS.
Beginning of reform: stop letting high-school and college athletes get away with crap that would have any other student thrown out and possibly thrown in jail.
And get blacks to stop this shit of crapping on anyone 'acting white' by, oh, actually trying to learn something in school.*

Social and asocial violence; well worth reading.

Regardless of the age, the culture, or the social conditions, there is ALWAYS a percentage of the general populace that embraces the totalitarian dynamic. There is always someone in our neighborhood, in our workplace, and within our family that finds vindication or advantage in supporting the state, even if the state has turned viciously criminal. They are not only useful idiots; they are conscious participants in the process of pacification and enslavement of their own society. They understand their role perfectly, and they enjoy what they do.
And a lot of them go by the label 'progressive'.  Because they don't have the honesty or integrity to state exactly what they are.

*Yes, that'll get me labeled racist or something by stupid people; well, they probably wouldn't like me anyway.  And it's true, that kind of crap has hurt blacks more over the last generation or so than the KKK could have.

Agreed, the prosecutor in the Zimmerman case

should be disbarred.  This is absolute, first-rate bullshit for which a price should be payed.

Remember those federal prosecutors the judge didn't charge because 'they weren't specifically told not to violate that law' I believe was the excuse?  Shit like this is why people don't trust the courts and prosecutors anymore.  And rightly so.  Until the people who can do something stop making excuses for this kind of garbage and start charging people, and taking away their ability to do more harm, things will just get worse, too.

Another violent gun-bigot mayor

And boy, is he a winner!
In April 1986, police said, Spencer went to a home in the 900 block of the North Ninth Street and punched and kicked Carol Ann Parker, breaking her shoulder. Then-Patrolman Charlie Kaucher responded, and Spencer punched him and threw him from a porch, police said.
In October 1987, Spencer pleaded guilty in county court to aggravated assault on Kaucher, a first-degree misdemeanor, and was sentenced to five years of probation.
Nine other charges were dismissed in exchange for the plea, records show.
Kaucher suffered head and other injuries and was left with permanent hearing loss.

An open letter to Bob Costas

and Jason Whitlock:
Do you know what kept me safe? Not some piece of paper. Not a judge tut tutting at him and shaking his/her finger and telling him to leave me alone. Not the police, who, after all, would only be able to respond once he had caused me harm. No, what kept me safe was my Glock.
...
You want to take that from me. You want me to be unable to defend myself. You want to leave me vulnerable to those out there who look at a five foot tall fat girl and think “victim”. You want me to be unable to protect myself when there is no one else around to do so. You want to make me dependent on others to provide for my basic safety and security.
Let us not beat around the bush, you want to sacrifice my life on the altar of your political beliefs. How dare you? Honestly, who do the two of you think you are to demand that my blood be shed so that you may preen about what wonderful people you are?
 You really need to RTWT

Clean Barrel Syndrome

No, it's not catching, but it can be a problem.  Some rifles, the first shot out of a clean barrel can hit way off from the aiming point.  Example:

This was shot with a Savage .308 bolt rifle at 100 yards.  The first shot is that one two inches above and one inch left of the aiming point.  Enough time was taken between shots that the barrel didn't warm up(this was a hunting load being tested).  That's quite a difference in POI; enough to cause a miss at longer ranges, or (worse)to make a hit outside the vitals.

If you haven't before, something to check on with your rifles.

Another fine example of our fine media hiding information;

gee, I wonder why...
I just spoke again with my contact in the FBI Phoenix field office (who is not authorized to speak on behalf of the FBI office). This contact said that it is highly unlikely that Aldosary will be charged with any terrorism offense. While they are internally treating it like a domestic terrorism investigation, including looking at if he had any help constructing the explosive device, the FBI is saying very little and and will prosecute this as a simple explosives and arson case because of “the political sensitivities involved.”
And, per Insty, Is there a YouTube video we could blame?

Empty-Hat Salazar strikes again.  And, as shouldn't surprise us,
The complaints gained momentum when the National Academy of Sciences, and the Interior Department's office of the solicitor found major flaws in Park Service reports, including what they termed mistake-ridden and, in some cases, biased work by park scientists.
"I am extremely disappointed," Feinstein said Thursday in a statement. "The National Park Service's review process has been flawed from the beginning with false and misleading science, which was also used in the Environmental Impact Statement. The secretary's decision effectively puts this historic California oyster farm out of business. As a result, the farm will be forced to cease operations and 30 Californians will lose their jobs."
She gets upset about it when it hits people in her district, doesn't she?

Sports weenie lectures us on those nasty handguns during a game.

If this is real... one more reason to drill our own oil and tell the Saudis to enjoy their litterbox.

Saxby Chambliss: another "My word is good(until I decide it isn't)!" politician.

Now, THIS would be something to win!  A custom Barrett in .338 Lapua?  Damn.

Sunday, December 02, 2012

Well, yeah, it'd make more sense and save people engine damage,

but if they stop pushing it, how will they pay off the corn lobby and make the "You shouldn't have a car anyway" enviroweenies happy?

I'm sure some people I know will laugh at it; but when a group like the Muslim Brotherhood is in charge, this does mean something:
Omissions of certain articles, such as bans on slavery or promises to adhere to international rights treaties, were equally worrying to critics of the new draft, who pulled out from the panel before the vote.

And if this crap with FEMA were happening with a Stupid Party president, the press would be covering every detail.
But, it's a Evil Party president, so...

Another thought about that wonderful NHS crap I noted the other day: They want these babies and teenagers dead, so they opt to make them die of thirst.  So, do they just not have the balls to flat-out kill them with a shot of some drug, or does it make these bastards feel better about it to 'let them die naturally'?
Which makes me wonder when some medical practitioners are going to start disappearing, or turning up dead, as more people realize what they were talked into.
Which, be it noted, will be kind of sad.  Especially if they skip the bureaucrats.

So, I'm wondering how the CSGV will spin this?*

The FBI has released their 2007-2011 “Murder Victims by Weapon” report. The results are contradictory to anti-gun industry claims that relaxing the ban on assault weapons will cause more crime.

The report indicates you are more likely to be killed by hands or feet than by a rifle or shotgun.

Since 2007 there has been a 16.2% decline in murders committed with personal weapons which are defined as “hands, fists, feet etc.” The number of murders of this type in 2011 totaled 728.

While gun ownership has dramatically increased since 2007, murders for both the shotgun and rifle categories have seen declines faster than the rate of personal weapons related crime.

*(Yes, I know: "It doesn't say anything about handguns! Handguns are EVIL!!" Etc.)

Another wonder of socialized medicine, except

they don't even get a pill:
Sick children are being discharged from NHS hospitals to die at home or in hospices on controversial ‘death pathways’.

Until now, end of life regime the Liverpool Care Pathway was thought to have involved only elderly and terminally-ill adults.

But the Mail can reveal the practice of withdrawing food and fluid by tube is being used on young patients as well as severely disabled newborn babies.
(and who decides who's 'severely disabled' and 'needs' this?  The people making money off of it, mainly.  Somewhere, some nazi doctors are laughing in hell)
...
One doctor has admitted starving and dehydrating ten babies to death in the neonatal unit of one hospital alone.
...
‘I witnessed a 14 year-old boy with cancer die with his tongue stuck to the roof of his mouth when doctors refused to give him liquids by tube. His death was agonising for him, and for us nurses to watch. This is euthanasia by the backdoor.’
No, it's not; it's euthanasia by people who don't seem to mind watching people die of thirst.
Well, 'don't mind' isn't quite right, since they encourage it.  'So the poor subhuman won't live a bad life', because 'it'll be an easier death'.  Because 'the hospital makes more money if we do this.'

I'm going to urge you to read it for yourself, as I can't really write more about it right now; it gives me an urge to find the bastards who think this is so wonderful and strap them to a gurney and not give them any water, so they can see how fucking wonderful this is.

And it's about damn time

Just heard from the son, his unit landed back in the US a short time ago.

It was raining there when he left, and raining when he arrives; how Sondra & family stands it, I don't know.

In any case, he's out of A'stan.  I shall now have a drink

to celebrate

You or I would be in jail, but Only Ones at ATF

may get fired, but All are expected to receive full retirement benefits.
Oh, of course.

Note that In addition to involvement in Operation Fast and Furious, the consequences for these officials come as a result of their handling of the Jay Dobyns' arson case.
And it all magically comes out after the election! Isn't that amazing?

From the Dutchman, whose site I haven't been to in a while,

Latest from Claire Wolfe: RATS!
DON'T LET A SNITCH WRECK YOUR LIFE!
Also, commenting on one of the RWPP gun bigots,
I've said it before and I'll repeat: these collectivist pukes are more race-obsessed than the Nazi Gauleiter of 1930's Lower Swabia. I've run into more than a few black folks in gun shops and one gun show since the election and they are there to BUY. These are not gang bangers, but middle class folks. Do you think they are motivated by the color of Obama's skin?
 With suitable illustration, from Oleg:

One more thing, this time his full post:
Congress adopted most of our recommendations. But this bill--as big as this bill is--still falls short, because we just could not get the Congress to carry out the requests we made of them. I asked for the national registration of all guns and the licensing of those who carry those guns. For the fact of life is that there are over 160 million guns in this country -- more firearms than families. If guns are to be kept out of the hands of the criminal, out of the hands of the insane, and out of the hands of the irresponsible, then we just must have licensing. If the criminal with a gun is to be tracked down quickly, then we must have registration in this country. -- Lyndon Johnson, remarks on the signing of the GCA 1968, 22 October 1968.

"I signed the Gun Control Act of 1968 so why aren't you peasants paying any attention to it?"
In my Sunday post "Give me that old time (gun control) religion," I highlighted this statement from the latest Congressional Research Service report on gun control legislation:
"Per capita, the civilian gun stock has roughly doubled since 1968, from one gun per every two persons to one gun per person."
The CRS report also stated:
"By . . . 2009, the estimated total number of firearms available to civilians in the United States had increased to approximately 310 million."
The official U.S. Census Bureau announced that the "2010 Census showed the resident population of the United States on April 1, 2010, was 308,745,538," so actually the number was slightly more than one firearm per person in 2009. What I neglected to give you, my readers, was the number of Americans in 1968 so that you would have a baseline to appreciate how firearms ownership has grown since the modern push for citizen disarmament began 45 years ago.
Well, here it is. In 1970, two years later, the Nineteenth United States Census determined the resident population of the United States to be 203,392,031. Thus, if we accept that the number of firearms at the time was one per every two persons that gives us something in the neighborhood of 101,000,000 in 1968.
So, by the CRS report's count, the frantic efforts of the gun banners have not only doubled the number of weapons per person, but they have more than tripled the aggregate number of firearms in the country.
The statement of Lyndon Johnson quoted above puts the number at 160 million, but this was provided him by the gun control lobby and although one guess may be as good as another (we will never know how many firearms were brought back from America's foreign wars in barracks bags and footlockers), it was criticized at the time as an overstatement. Even if we accept it as fact, that suspect statistic still reflects a doubling of the aggregate number of firearms in the country.
Personally, I think Johnson's number was inflated. Even so, give me some more of that old time gun control religion.
It's good enough for me.

From Californicated, a public official with some brains:
The city attorney of San Bernardino is under scrutiny for telling residents to “lock their doors and load their guns” during a city council meeting.
The official explained that because the city is bankrupt and slashing public safety budgets people will need to start protecting themselves.
City Attorney Jim Penman said he doesn’t regret what he said.
“You should say what you mean and mean what you say,” Penman said.
Some 'I wouldn't recommend' waffling, but stands by the comment.

On the other hand, to the San Jose PD, "Bite me, you morons."
Lady defends self and store against armed robbers:
In the meantime, the police are giving gun owners a piece of their mind. Albert Morales, the San Jose Police spokesman, said, "We don't recommend (drawing a gun or firing). We would have preferred that they just go ahead and comply with the request or demands of the robbers. Again they were after material items that could be replaced and again our biggest fear is that somebody would have gotten hurt, injured and possibly even died."

You know who else would have preferred that the jewelry store owner had just complied? The thieves. Who would’ve thought that cops and robbers would ever be able to agree on something?

Not mentioned by the SJPD was if she should have given them what the wanted if they'd decided to take her into a back room for some entertainment.  Or take her with them.  Probably "If you cooperate, maybe they won't hurt you, so don't pull that nasty gun, peasant!"
The problem is that when a statement like that comes from police, the subtle implication is that there’s something inherently immoral or illegal about using a gun in self-defense. It could give people the wrong impression about firearms -- whether that’s intentional or accidental is an entirely different debate.
 Intentional, I'm sure.  The bastards.

And last, from Hofmann, on the CSGV liking to call people traitors and insurrectionists,
Setting that aside as just one more example of CSGV's utter (and wilfull?) failure to understand the Constitution and the rights it guarantees, let us move on to their contention that an "ideology" can be "treasonous"--that the mere adherence to a belief is enough to make one a "traitor." So, as we have asked before, who decides what ideologies are permissible, and which are "treasonous"?
Founding Father Tench Coxe once said:
As civil rulers, not having their duty to the people before them, may attempt to tyrannize, and as the military forces which must be occasionally raised to defend our country, might pervert their power to the injury of their fellow citizens, the people are confirmed by the article in their right to keep and bear their private arms."…"Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man gainst his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American....
CSGV calls such beliefs "perverted and treasonous."
Minutes later, CSGV left a comment responding to its own Facebook post, showing that they are aware of one aspect of how the Constitution deals with treason:
The Constitution also defines only one crime, the crime of Treason, which is punishable by death.
Yep--CSGV just admitted their sick belief that if you agree with Tench Coxe and other Founding Fathers, you are guilty of treason, and subject to execution.
How, exactly, does CSGV differ from a "hate group," and who, exactly, are the "traitors"?

Midway is having a blemished bullet sale

here. Rifle and pistol both, various calibers.

Mr. Doak, I don't give a damn where the money came from,

you insisting that you need your own little SWAT team for friggin' insurance fraud is bullshit.

And indication you probably shouldn't be in that office.

Y'know, one of the giveaways is the five 2012 Dodge Chargers for $23,590 each and two 2013 Chevrolet Tahoes for $26,505 apiece, each outfitted with police packages that include stiffer suspensions and wiring for additional communications equipment.  Really?  You need cars with PURSUIT PACKAGES?

Added:
Thoughts added after a comment from Sigivald:
Problem is, they're the Insurance Commission investigating fraud; all they NEED is four wheels and a motor to get them around, maybe a radio(although they've probably got issue cell phones).  A economobile would get better mileage, too.

Which brings up another question: if they're getting set-up-for-pursuit cop cars, are they planning on pursuits?  Really?  Have their investigators been to EVO school?  If not, well, the questions that pop up after that keep going downhill.

I wonder if any of Obama's blame-takers and minions wonder what the wheels

will feel like when they go under the bus?

Dear Leader's position on the cliff: "Give me whatever I want, and I'll maybe talk to you about any cuts later."
If the Stupid Party accepts something like this, everyone involved should be dragged out of those taxpayer-supplied chairs.

Speaking of which, I keep hearing about how we're on the verge of going 'back into recession'; do these clowns just not want to say, or are they so frikkin' detached they don't know WE NEVER GOT OUT OF RECESSION?
Of course, these are largely the same people who keep saying inflation isn't a problem, so either they're lying or- again- so detached they don't actually pay for their own groceries and such.  'Cause if they did, they'd damn well know better.

Quotes of the day

about what's happened to the ownership of arms in Finland, by e-mail from another Marja:
One example, I guess, what happens when people don't pay sufficient attention to what our lords and masters are doing, the screws here have been tightened in very small steps, but those add up to big ones when you take in all that has happened during the last few decades. I kept thinking about starting shooting, and getting myself a gun, but kept putting it off, and when I finally started to check things I was rather shocked over what had happened to our gun rights while I hadn't been looking. Right now it's getting to be lack of rights rather than rights, if you go by the local laws.

And the second:
I guess one reason why things could get so bad without most people really noticing was because for quite a long time, while there were things like that need for permits for everything it was nearly a given you would get those permits, at least if you hadn't managed to piss off the local police department, so everything seemed more free than it actually was. And those new laws, and everything getting coded to the point where the police could no longer afford to be nice even if they would have wanted to, it happened very quietly. Maybe one tiny article somewhere in the back of the newspaper, maybe not even that. Our news media is worse than yours, I think, when it comes to showing their colors in the way they choose what they report and what they don't, and how they report what they do.
Yeah, most of our media sucks; apparently theirs has a supercharger.  And we'd better pay attention to the lessons.

I'll add she's a writer, and recently started a blog with some photography and sketches

Oh no, this isn't alarming

at all.

In other news, had a chance to shoot that Little Sharps again, and I've found only one problem with it: there's an odd tendency to start humming the theme to Quigley Down Under when you're shooting it...

I admit to a certain "If only it weren't made by Chiappa" sentiment, after that crap with the RFID chips a year or so back.  Yes, they apologized, etc.; it was still a seriously dumbass piece of work.

Yeah, the stuff works

Two things that came out of working on a piece:
Had a pin that would not budge; no rust, just being in place for, oh, roughly 80 years.  So I mixed up a variation of the acetone & ATF penetrating oil: I used mineral spirits(no acetone, and I thought the ATF would dissolve into the ms better*).  Half-filled a jar, put the piece in, capped it and left it overnight.  Today, it came out.

Second thing, if you're not aware, if you've got a stubborn pin that doesn't want to move, use a punch with the shortest pin possible.  Couple of years back I mentioned making a set with replaceable tips; took the appropriate size and cut it to about 1/4" to break this loose.  A shorter tip both flexes less- delivering more energy to the pin- and is less likely to bend.

*Son had tried the acetone/ATF mix, said it worked well, but they tended to separate if it sat for a while.  I'd wondered if mineral spirits would work as well, and seems to; and the ATF doesn't separate.

A bit more about working with Berdan primed cases

Was looking at the Swiss Rifles forum(which has a whole section on reloading) and ran across a link to this at Surplusrifle.com on the subject, which includes the hydraulic depriming tool the guy built.

I've tried the hydraulic method(makes me very glad I picked up that RCBS berdan depriming tool when I ran across it).  But, while messy, it does work.

In connected news, I found a few brass 7.62x54r cases which have the 'nny' headstamp(PRVI manufacture, I think), deprimed, and tried one with a berdan primer; it went in with very little pressure, so little that I would not fire it as there's no way the thing seated tightly enough to prevent gas leakage.  Though 'flood' might be a better word in this case.  Might work in cases of some other manufacture, if I run across some I'll see.

"I want to yell about globular warmening and make the enviroweenies happy,

but it'll hurt the airlines and both piss people off and make the airlines not give me money if I veto this; so I'll sign!"
To borrow from Insty, I'll start worrying about 'global warming' when the clowns screaming about it actually ACT like it's a problem.

Let's see, did the boobs at Jezebel do this when people were calling for Bush to be murdered?  When they were throwing racial insults at Condi Rice and Powell?
Hell no.
That's different, those people were REPUBLICANS...

If anybody actually cared what Time thought, their choice for Person of the Year would end it.  Should, anyway.
Because, even at this late age, she expects other people to pay her bills — specifically for her birth control?
Because she chose to attend a Catholic college, then demanded they drop their profound theological objections and pay for her “morning-after” pill?
Because she lacks even one accomplishment to point to, a single achievement that would put her in the same category as the inventors, presidents and popes who’ve been given this award in the past?

One of the things for which I wanted to kick George Bush in the ass and ask "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING?!?" was that idiot law to phase out incandescent bulbs.
I'd still like to.

More of the crap that colleges want you to go deeply into debt to pay for.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney grew testy with reporters Tuesday over questions about UN Ambassador Susan Rice’s role in the aftermath of the Benghazi attack.

“What is the point of the focus on this,” Carney asked of questions about Rice’s comments on the five Sunday shows days after the September 11, 2012 attack that killed four Americans signaling it was a spontaneous event.
 Because, you miserable little hack,
The President and all his minions- including you- lied to us, repeatedly, and
the clowns in charge sat there and watched while people died and made sure they got no help.  And we want to know who and why, you little shit.

Speaking of which, well, how 'bout it, Rice?

So that's why he kept that rabbit handy:

munchies!
Add's another line of risk: now we know that hippo won't just chomp and stomp you, he may swallow you

Racism is alive and well, but since it's PC racism,

it's ok:
Some Democrats quickly offered to broker a nominee to avoid several African-American contenders splitting the vote in the heavily Democratic and majority black 2nd Congressional District, which could allow a white candidate to win.
As noted, change that to 'majority white' and 'allow a black candidate to win' and these same people would be having screaming fits.
Miserable racist bastards.

Christmas sales on gunny stuff

Listed at NLOGM

Another something good from Commander Vimes

It always embarrassed Samuel Vimes when civilians tried to speak to him in what they thought was "policeman."  If it came to that, he hated thinking of them as civilians.  What was a policeman, if not a civilian with a uniform and a badge?  But they tended to use the term these days as a way of describing people who were not policemen.  It was a dangerous habit: once policemen stopped being civilians the only other thing they could be was soldiers.
From Snuff

Exactly.  Which is why so many range from annoyed to seriously worried when cops do that.  Borrowing a quote from another character in another time,
There's a reason we separate military and the police: one fights the enemy of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people.

I'd say these people belong in jail,

but that's far too kind.
...So I asked him how he knew that and how he had registered and cast his vote. In halting, impeded speech he told me that the people who take care of him at the home filled out “the papers” to register him to vote, told him how Obama cared for him, even taught him the Obama chants, and then took him to the polling place to vote. They did the same for all of the mentally disabled patients in their care, approximately sixty in all.
Hanging, that's the ticket.

Effing wonderful: we're losing 20,000 Marines due to 'cost-cutting'

yet Earlier this week, Breitbart.com covered the recent agreement Barack Obama has promised billions of Yankee dollars to the oil-rich and overwhelmingly Muslim nations of Indonesia and Brunei.

As reported, $6,000,000,000 worth of American taxes has been promised to the two neighboring nations to promote "green energy."

Again, "It's the cover-up" only counts

if the media actually bothers to investigate and REPORT on it.
And we have the racial grievancemongers (aka Congressional Black Caucus) screaming 'RACISM!!!' at anyone who dares to criticize Rice; and the media reports every damn word of that crap, don't they?
Because that's far more important than a burned consulate and CIA office and a few dead Americans.

 Speaking of which,
Forget questions of who ordered what and when it was ordered and what assets were available to assist those poor souls at Benghazi. Smucker, a known and very vocal supporter of Mr. Obama, just thinks that “shit happens.”

It doesn’t work that way with other Presidents, or for those with whom he disagrees.  For instance, he also went off on a diatribe against Mr. Bush for allowing UBL escape Tora Bora.  For Smucker, who wrote a book on the subject, UBL’s escape isn’t about shit happening.

But for the right President, people like Smucker and Kmiec are willing to throw their colleagues and good friends under the bus.  They are just so much collateral damage, and knew all about the risks associated with their job.

A point about dealing with gun bigots and control freaks:
Gun control at its root has always been about gun control.  Feinstein is a statist, and her laws and regulations will always and forever increase the power of the state. Feinstein sees through McArdle’s argument on cosmetics, which is why her proposed ban includes semi-automatic weapons. There isn’t anything cosmetic about the aims of the gun control advocates.

Arguing that their bans don’t adequately distinguish between weapons leads them to refine their ban.  Arguing that there is equivalent lethality between weapons denies aspects of utility and design, and only causes them to ban weapons that have specific utility for home and self defense.  And arguing that their regulations were ineffective only embarrasses them to pass even more onerous ones.

The correct way to argue against Feinstein’s proposed assault weapons ban is to argue that there is no constitutional basis for such a ban, and any new assault weapons ban would be at least as immoral and obscene as the last one was.

More of the 'what we're finding out is in the bill', and it sucks.
Remember Obama promised this as a free exam — no co-pay, no deductible, no charge. That’s fine and dandy if you are healthy and have no complaints. However, we are obligated by law to code specifically for the reason of the visit. An annual exam is one specific code; you can not mix this with another code, say, for rectal bleeding. This annual visit covers the exam and “discussion about the status of previously diagnosed stable conditions.” That’s the exact wording under that code — insurance will not cover any new ailment under that code.
If you are here for that annual exam, you will not be covered if you want to discuss any new ailment or unstable condition. I cannot bait and switch to another code — that’s illegal. We, the physicians, are audited all the time and can lose our license for insurance fraud.

Well, there's another actor who goes in the 'idiot part-player' category.

Why did Obama win the election?
One more thing: it's been mentioned that Romney just didn't sell himself to a lot of conservatives and libertarians.  A week or so ago I had the radio on Rush' show, and a caller was someone who hadn't voted.  Said flatly that he knew that by not voting in his state it was essentially a vote for Obama, knew all the problems.  Asked why,(paraphrased),
"I saw Romney attack conservatives in the primaries with energy, but when it came to Obama he was measured and polite.  He made it plain who he actually sees as his opponents, and it's not Obama and those like him.  Add that to his record on a number of things, and I just could not vote for him."
I'd imagine that covers a LOT of people who didn't vote: given a choice between the socialist and the socialist-lite, they thought "Why bother?" and stayed home.
And the Stupid Party response?  "We need to be more like the socialists!"
Why yes, I DO despair.
Added: as Kevin notes,
In the Carboniferous Epoch we were promised abundance for all,
By robbing selected Peter to pay for collective Paul;
But, though we had plenty of money, there was nothing our money could buy,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: "If you don't work you die."

It's too late for Halloween,

but still:

And while on the "???" subject, What If?

One hell of a strange way to kick off.

From Robb:

You cannot stop guns. Period. If you ban the sale to law abiding citizens, the only people who won’t have guns are the law abiding citizens. If you ban the manufacture of them, then criminals will hit Home Depot, set up a shop, and make them cheaply enough (yet still sell them for a lucrative price).
Gun control will never, never disarm those who are the problem. Belief that is will is willful ignorance.

On a personal note, there was a fun show this weekend.  Unfortunately, like most in the OKC area the last few years, it wasn't very big and lacked a certain ambiance.  Only things that prevented me calling it a waste was finding a magazine I needed for a very good price(almost enough to make up for the admission cost), and a reloading dealer had some gas checks and bullets from an estate sale that definitely made it worth going.

And now, 'night, all.

Added before I lose track of it: They Cracked This 250-Year-Old Code, and Found a Secret Society Inside

Well, yeah, why WOULD a lot of guys threaten their future

by getting married?  You all know the mess out there, some of you have gone through it personally and I'd bet most of you have seen it second-hand.  Without going into details, I have(both, unfortunately).  And it's worse now.

Personal gripe: about a year ago was at a party at a friends' place, and a couple of the guests were mid-20's females, single.  And their prime concerns were
Managing to get through the next few days until the next party, and
Finding out when the next party was after that.
Not career, not marriage, just the next party.
Yeah, a lot of guys are the same; why not?  Hook-up culture is great for them at that age: no commitment, no actual give-a-damn.  And if you do try for more, a lot of the girls in your age group are so commitment-phobic(unless it's completely on their terms, and even then) that you can forget it.  Which means, within ten years, there'll be lots of females whining about 'no good men, they won't commit' when they helped train the men to be that way...

And let's say a guy does commit and ask for marriage: he has to keep in mind that he's dealing with a current culture where he's pretty much at fault for everything:
She hits him and he calls the cops, lots of places HE goes to jail; it's in the law 'to protect women'.
Divorce?  He's probably screwed no matter what.
Just getting through the day, we've got 'entertainment' that almost always shows the boyfriend/husband as either stupid, or uncaring, or incompetent.
Put it all together, yeah there are reasons a lot of guys either aren't willing to commit for years to come, or at all.

Remember Home Improvement?  It became a show of "How can we make men look stupid/uncaring this week, and women look smart/caring/saviors of all?"  Over and effing over.

End of rant.

Responding to Republican criticism of UN Ambassador Susan Rice for claiming that the Benghazi attack on the US mission and annex there had been caused by a photo of a stuffed teddy bear named Mohammed, Congresswoman Marcia Fudge, the leader of the Congressional Black Caucus and Chairwoman of the House Subcommittee on 40 Acres, an Obamaphone and a Mule denounced any attacks on Rice as “horridly and unspeakably racist.”

While Fudge could not point to any single word that was racist, she insisted that every single word used to criticize Rice was a racist code word.
Which is the level of stupid, arrogant and racist these idiot operate at for real.

I have an idea:  A polite letter to Reid saying "Fuck you.  You've prevented votes on a pile of things, you've slandered us, you've blamed us for all wrong, and now you want to smile and deal?  Fuck you twice.  Especially since your idea of 'working together' is "You people do what I want."  "
And any 'republican' who wants to bend over for him should be disowned.  Preferably involving some tar and feathers.

Oh, yeah, I've had that feeling before:

I think it was the guy at Legal Insurrection who once said that it was amazing how free leftists felt to threaten someone's life.  Openly, online for all the world to see.  That's true; it's also true that people like this are first-class scumbags who deserve everything that'll happen to them.

These clowns have actively tried to get people killed(by SWATting), have harassed them and their families, threatened, and some have done it quite openly.  Pretty much dared anyone to do anything about it.  And when they actually get slammed for it, they threaten some more and whine about their 'freedom of speech'.  Some of them, it's just a ploy for sympathy; others are so effing stupid they actually believe their FOS includes harassing families and death threats and other such disgusting things.

I'm tempted to think it's in part because older methods of correction aren't used anymore.  Wasn't that long ago that if you threatened/harassed someones wife or kids, you'd either get dragged outside and the crap beaten out of you, or find a gun in your face with a warning behind it.  And it was a real warning.  Maybe if some of these clowns knew that was what they were facing, with the legal threat being secondary, it might cool some of them down.

Ogre loves Skyfall, and laments  … and I envy England because in the US… we don’t have such a character.  Jack Ryan?  (Tom Clancy) or XXX?  Captain America?  No… I want an American Bond.
Oh, we've got one: Matt Helm.  Series by Donald Hamilton.  Would make some excellent movies, assuming the Hollyweird crowd didn't eff them up.  If you've never read any of the books, do.  I'd suggest starting with the linked one, it being the first of the series.  But you can read any of them in any order; while there are references to other books in later ones, it's never something that would prevent you from enjoying the one in your hands.

Oh, and Hollywood?  Heroic fantasy?  Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser.   Just sayin'.

It is striking, how unsurprised Obama, Clinton, Rice et al seem to be by the Hamas barrage against Israel over the past fortnight, and by Egypt’s swift turn toward Islamist dictatorship. It’s almost like they expected these events to happen.
Oh, Preston, you moron, can't you realize they probably not only expected them, but actively WANTED them to?

Great: another "We MUST do something!" demand

that will- again, and at best- result in another United Nations circle-jerk that will produce local-climate-altering quantities of hot air and (probably)spend a kiloton of OPM and produce nothing more than more demands that the Norks will ignore while demanding they be given more OPM.
And they'll most likely get it. Because the only thing the UN does better than send in brothel managers and child molesterspeacekeepers who don't keep the peace is giving away OPM.  Minus their cut, of course.

I'd like to remind Mr. Park that it was the UN, led by that celebrated-for-some-reason Kofi Annan, who HAD a chance to stop the Rwanda mass-murders, and didn't even try.  Hell, actively avoided doing anything*.  So just what does he think will be done to 'force' the Norks to start behaving like something other than Mongols with a bad hangover in a conquered city?

*This leaves out that when Dallaire said "Give me some more troops and authority to act and I can stop this", the UN yanked out most of the troops he did have and forbade him to do anything.

'It's not the crime, it's the cover-up' only works if

the journalists in charge of the 'news' actually bother to investigate and REPORT on the cover-up and the crime; does anybody actually believe most of our sorry excuses for reporters are going to do that to Obama & Co.?

Speaking of things that need more reporting,
The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) on Monday detailed the crimes that have been committed by members of Mr. Bloomberg’s gang, Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG). In its research, SAF found a significantly higher rate of felonious activity among the mayors who teamed up with hizzoner than among the 8 million citizens who are licensed to carry concealed firearms.

“If Mayor Bloomberg wants to align himself with this criminal element of mayors to push for gun control, we think the public should know about it,” SAF Founder Alan M. Gottlieb told The Washington Times in an interview.
It is kind of amazing how many MAIG members have been convicted of crimes, isn't it?

And aside from that, you'll have to entertain yourselves; just not feelin' it today

No, I did NOT participate in the idiocy beginning at 0001 hours

today.  Attention Retailers: there's not one damn thing(short of a Barrett for $2k) that could cause me to sit outside your doors waiting to fight a crowd for a 'bargain'.
Thatisall.

Speaking of which, this would be appropriate for numerous other occasions, too:

Remember the moron who decided that acting up at Arlington was just funny as hell?  Worth posting pictures about?
Actions have consequences.  Or, as a certain character once said, "Life is tough.  It's tougher when you're stupid."

Alas, I've known people who would think "Aw, bullshit!" as they reached for it.

Because there are more important things than actually teaching kids.  Like money.

To every jerk out there who insists socialism is just wonderful and 'never had a fair trial yet':
 Speaking of which,
" Communists are no better than Nazis. Refusing to hire Communists is on the same moral plane as refusing to hire Nazis. Which is to say: It’s a good and admirable thing, not a sin. Go broke and starve, commies. It’s what you deserve for being eager, willing servants of totalitarianism."

Just how many worthless idiots like this are hiding in the Justice Department?

"Nice ki- DAMMIT, what's your problem, cat?"

 This one's kind of sick.
I know just who to send it to.

Why yes, I DO remember Condoleezza Rice being called a house nigger by the left; I remember the things said about Colin Powell, too.  But I guess they don't count, since they were said by the socialists and Democrats.

And now, just to end the holiday days well,

Hope you're having a good Thanksgiving

I am.  With one small diversion from that to post on just why I really don't care if a black hole opens beneath the city and sucks Chicago in: all these clowns KNEW what a corrupt, vile dirtbag Jesse Jackson Jr.* is, and voted him in anyway.  Just in time for this:
Jackson had planned on a press conference to announce his resignation but was not able to bring himself to speak about it because of his illness, the source said.
The announcement comes after mounting pressure faced by Jackson as federal investigators appeared to widen their ongoing investigation into the congressman’s activities.

Considering Obama's connections to the place, and Holder being AG, I tend to think Jr. must've become enough of an embarrassment or threat that they want him gone; either that, or some feds with some actual ethics and testicles decided to go after the crook, and could make it nasty enough to keep the interference down.

Either way, one thing I'm very thankful for: I'm not living in that wretched hive of scum and villainy.

*Yes, I know, his father's just as bad if not worse.  But he's not looking at jail time.
Right now, at least.

So you want to screw people around on the busiest day

of shopping in the year, and you think it'll make them sympathize with you?
Or is it the assholes in charge of this just want to screw things up as much as possible a claim it's 'for the good of the workers', etc.?
It being move-on.org involved, I'd say it's a large does of the latter.

Yeah, working on a holiday sucks; so?  If that's what the job calls for, that's what you do.  Or find another job.

And yeah, I've done it: Christmas and every other holiday, day, evening, and hoot shift, because the job required shift work.  So don't whine to me.

It appears Leahy didn't like the results of people finding out about the bill; good.

Anybody else sick to bleepin' death of these grievance-mongers claiming racism as the cause of EVERY criticism of ANYONE in their circle?

For that matter, what kind of pussy is your deity when girls wanting to go to school is such a threat that you feel compelled to kill them?

Little while back, a PD officer in the town of Piedmont made a fool of himself: 3-year-old peed in the yard, and he wrote mom a $2,500 ticket.  Dumbass has been fired.
I wonder what the whole backstory is on this?  I'd bet they'd had other complaints on this guy, and this one finally drew so much attention that they couldn't ignore the problem anymore.

True of politicians in general:
Most politicians, as they become older, become more skilled in compromise. The sacrifice of what were once deeply held, and prominently advertised, convictions troubles their consciences less and less; it certainly leaves no moral imprint. In an age when many politicians have ceased to have a life outside politics, survival and the retention of power become paramount. What in normal society would constitute shameful duplicity is, by a modern politician, executed shamelessly: nobody expects better of them, least of all themselves, and they do not therefore disappoint. Retreating from principle, bending, concealing or sometimes even abandoning the truth are normal, everyday activities. Anyone who points out the depravity of such behaviour is seen as painfully unsophisticated.
And very much in evidence in the upper reaches of the Stupid Party in particular, it would seem.

Do you know what your kids or grandkids are being taught?
In less than a month (December 16th), we will mark the 239th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party. This well-known protest against “taxation without representation” is almost universally recognized as the moment that sparked the American Revolution.

In many Texas public schools, the Boston Tea Party is now being taught as an example of an act of terrorism.
And the clowns involved are apparently violating TX law to try to hide what they're up to.

Gun Owners Against Illegal Mayors; good idea!

Another casualty of Brady Bullcrap.

And since people will be traveling,

and shopping,

Have a good Thanksgiving

The world is looking more and more like a Larry Niven novel,

down to the "We really need to make it easier to harvest organs.  No matter what." attitude:
The world of organ donation in Denmark is in turmoil. A documentary was aired earlier this month which showed family members reacting in anguish to the news that their 19-year-old daughter was brain dead after a car accident, agreeing to donate her organs and allowing doctors to turn off her respirator. About 1.7 million viewers tuned in to the heart-rending drama.
But Carina Melchior did not die after her respirator was removed. She is now undergoing rehabilitation and may make a full recovery. About 500 people immediately removed their names from Denmark’s organ donor register.
...
The hospital acknowledged that the question of organ donation should not have been raised as there were no unambiguous signs that brain death would occur. New guidelines have been introduced to ensure that relatives will only be approached about organ donation if no more treatment options are available. There was no risk of a false diagnosis of brain death, the hospital insisted.
Translation: "Someone thought it would be better to take her organs than see if she'd recover, and we got caught."

In some of Niven's novels, as organ transplants became easier to do, there was more of a demand for organs, so the government(for the good of the collective, of course) began using criminals as sources.  Started out with murderers, and then- especially as the connected and powerful needed transplants- as demand rose, the crime level necessary to get you sentenced to the organ banks dropped lower and lower...

Right now we're seeing the abuse of the Liverpool Care Pathway in Britain to get rid of older patients and free up beds, and people in some countries getting a shove along the assisted-death path even when they don't want to, or the officials 'neglected' or 'forgot' to inform the family, and the world is well on the road.

A: And it only took two freakin' years for TSA

to release the information; note that if the asshole with a federal ID had done this anywhere else, the girl would've been justified in kicking his (supposed) balls into his abdominal cavity, and then having him arrested.

He still should be.  And fired.  And TSA gotten rid of.  Especially since they not only do this crap, but defend it.

Second, TSA really doesn't like the idea of there being video they don't control of this crap*.
Let's note that TSA has no problem lying about this being illegal, and taking people's property and wiping video illegally and against their own rules.  For which TSA clowns should also be fired, and prosecuted.  Or, just get rid of this bunch of parasites and end that particular problem.

*yes, it's Infowars; still, has all the links and so forth.

Also on the douchebag front is Sen. Pat Leahy(NSD Slimeball),

who really thinks he's a protector of personal privacy and such.
A Senate proposal touted as protecting Americans' e-mail privacy has been quietly rewritten, giving government agencies more surveillance power than they possess under current law.
CNET has learned that Patrick Leahy, the influential Democratic chairman of the Senate Judiciary committee, has dramatically reshaped his legislation in response to law enforcement concerns. A vote on his bill, which now authorizes warrantless access to Americans' e-mail, is scheduled for next week.
Revised bill highlights
✭ Grants warrantless access to Americans' electronic correspondence to over 22 federal agencies. Only a subpoena is required, not a search warrant signed by a judge based on probable cause.
✭ Permits state and local law enforcement to warrantlessly access Americans' correspondence stored on systems not offered "to the public," including university networks.
✭ Authorizes any law enforcement agency to access accounts without a warrant -- or subsequent court review -- if they claim "emergency" situations exist.
✭ Says providers "shall notify" law enforcement in advance of any plans to tell their customers that they've been the target of a warrant, order, or subpoena.
✭ Delays notification of customers whose accounts have been accessed from 3 days to "10 business days." This notification can be postponed by up to 360 days.

Lindsey Stone: the hell you didn't mean any disrespect,

and if you're so effing stupid you didn't realize this would piss a LOT of people off, then please have yourself sterilized so you don't pass that level of stupid on.

Yes, you are a douchebag; a really effing stupid one.

The most transparent administration EVEH!!

Among the administration's many violations of public trust to recently become public is the Environmental Protection Agency's apparent attempt to keep some of its correspondence hidden from the light of day through the use of aliases.

EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson, for instance, has reportedly used the name "Richard Windsor" to cover her tracks in private emails.

An interesting thought on why Iron Dome is a real problem: it makes the terror attacks by rocket somewhat more 'acceptable'.
...But by the end of the show, Rafael hadn’t made a single sale. The Arrow sold well, other systems did great – Iron Dome wasn’t moving. So they contacted their big clients, the serious ones, and asked what gives. And those clients told them no one except Israel has any use for these things. Because in any normal, sane country, if some hooligans were to start targeting civilians with rockets – the army would go and kill them.

To pre-quote a friend, "Oh, that's just Faux New- what? British news? Ummm..."
It is only two weeks since his re-election, and his second term remains two months away, but Barack Obama is already blundering again on the world stage, with the kind of gaffes that would have been plastered on the front page of The New York Times if they had been committed by George W. Bush when he was in the White House. Obama's first term was littered with foreign policy gaffes, and there is every chance the second term will be more of the same.

Bloomberg's basic rule: "If it has my imprimatur on it, it is Good.  Period."
Mayor Bloomberg yesterday insisted that the city’s 911 system “functioned perfectly” during Hurricane Sandy — despite evidence of unanswered calls, clueless operators and deaths of people who couldn’t get help in time.

“The technology functioned perfectly,” Bloom-berg bizarrely said yesterday during a question-and-answer session. “Are you ever going to have enough operators to take all the calls when all of a sudden, everybody’s calling? No, of course not.
...
The 911 system is supposed to be able to handle 50,000 calls per hour, according to official claims, and there were about 20,000 calls per hour when Sandy hit on Oct. 29.

Hizzoner even accused people of clogging the lines with non-emergency calls — as their houses filled with water.
For the moment, ignore the dumbass of "Well, the mayor didn't order us to evacuate, so let's just sit here": Bloomberg actually seems to believe that if it has his name attached in any way, it is perfect, without flaw; the man really is a squirrel with a touch of rabies.

I'm once again seeing people I know whining that if I have a problem with being looted by the .gov in the name of 'helping people' it means I want people to die, etc.; sick to effing death of this crap, so I'll throw in Penn Jullette's quote(which really ticks off the right people:
It's amazing to me how many people think that voting to have the government give poor people money is compassion. Helping poor and suffering people is compassion. Voting for our government to use guns to give money to help poor and suffering people is immoral self-righteous bullying laziness.
People need to be fed, medicated, educated, clothed, and sheltered, and if we're compassionate we'll help them, but you get no moral credit for forcing other people to do what you think is right. There is great joy in helping people, but no joy in doing it at gunpoint.

My contribution for National Ammo Day

was a brick of .22; times are a bit tight.

From the professional "We don't know nothin' bout no terrorists!" journalists,
The Times leaves out the story’s single most relevant piece of information: Four senior Islamic Jihad terrorists were using the media building as a hideout. They were killed in the Israeli strike.
Both Islamic Jihad and the IDF noted the presence of terrorists in the building, and that they were eliminated in the strike. As in a previous report on Gaza, the New York Times appears confused about the presence and actions of terrorists in the territory.

So I'm supposed to be all butthurt about the salaries of Hostess executives, but I'm not supposed to be bothered by union salaries?
So let’s take a look at the number of executives in the Bakers’ Union, their salaries and titles. What does a humble baker president like Hurt rake in? A mere $262,654. His assistant, Harry Kaiser has to get by with a mere $149,764.

The Bakers’ Union (BCTGM) has 58 employees. 29 of them make more than $100,000 a year.

The Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers’ International Union has 8 Vice Presidents. (One is an Executive Vice-President).

These 8 Vice Presidents make anywhere from $218,989.00 to $161,789.00 for a combined total of over 2 million dollars. Additionally there’s a Secretary Treasurer who makes $244,396.00.

So, where's the screaming about FEMA screwups?  Why aren't journalists asking Obama why he's not doing something?
Oh, right, there's a 'D' in the White House...
“Sitting there last night you could see your breath,” said Sotelo. “At (Pine Belt) the Red Cross made an announcement that they were sending us to permanent structures up here that had just been redone, that had washing machines and hot showers and steady electric, and they sent us to tent city. We got (expletive).

Yesterday, maintenance was performed on the bike: sprocket and chain replacement.  I'd bought the set months ago when I found it for a good price, knowing I'd need it in the next few thousand miles; and last time I cleaned & lubed the chain I found several spots where kinks were developing.  They weren't hard kinks, but definite indicators of wear, so it was time.

And in this case I was also replacing the drive and driven sprockets(or 'driven flange' as it says in the manual).  Recommendation of many is to always replace sprockets and chain together(though you can get argument about that), but I was going from a 530-size chain to a 520 so the sprockets had to be changed to match.

One bolt holding the drive sprocket on, six nuts for the driven, and all damn tight, so used a trick son told me about: take a heavy cargo tie-down strap, loop it around a wheel spoke*, hook the hooks to somewhere on the frame and snug it down.  When you put torque on to loosen or tighten the fasteners, it'll keep the wheel from turning.  And you'd better do this before you remove the chain; be a serious PITA to try it after that.

This was the first time I'd replaced a riveted chain, so took my time.  If you're not familiar with them, the new master link does not have a press-on sideplate secured by a clip; the sideplate presses onto the pins, and you use a tool to expand the heads of the pins to lock the plate on.  Add in that there are o-rings involved(4), I wanted to make sure I got this right.  Pick a link to remove, press out both pins, remove chain.  Change sprockets, snug fasteners. Put on new chain.  There's a little packet of grease for the master link: put a o-ring on each pin, grease the pins(I shot a little into the holes in the other links just to be sure), insert to link chain.  Put o-rings over the pins, get the sideplate in place and then press it on.  Then rivet the ends of the pins(yes, there are measurements for how much pin to have protruding, and how wide the heads should be after expanding).

And yes, there's a tool just for the job.  Depending on which parts you use it can press out the pins from the link you decide to break, then press the sideplate onto the new pins(and you need a tool, it's a serious tight fit) and then rivet the heads.

After the chain is locked together, tighten and torque-down the fasteners, then adjust the chain, and clean up the mess.

Put about fifty miles on it today, and all's well.  Always a very comforting thing after doing something new.

While I'm thinking of it I got the chain/sprocket set from Sprocket Center; they also have brake rotors, wheels and other stuff.
Here's the chain tool I used.  Hey, it's on sale again!  In any case, it did the job.  Next time I do think I'd use a couple of wrenches instead of the handle and lever that comes with it; they'd be longer and give better leverage.

*These are aluminum wheels, cast as one piece, I don't think I'd do this with actual spokes.  With the solid wheels, use a spoke on one side when loosening, move to the other side when tightening.

Yet another reason to get rid of DHS:

"We want you new immigrants on welfare."

Fordham University: Ann Coulter is unacceptable to speak, but someone who supports bestiality, infanticide and eugenics is quite acceptable because “Basically, the Church is not afraid of any idea, if it has a fair chance freely to explain its own position,” Schall said.
Yeah.  Except they're afraid of a skinny blonde female and don't want her to speak.

"Yes, you can speak; but you cannot speak ill of islam!"  Just freakin' wonderful, isn't it?  Especially coming from people who refer to Jews as, what was it, 'offspring of dogs and monkeys' I believe?

Petraeus is like anyone else, there are things to criticize about him.  Legitimate things.  There's also people spouting bullshit in large quantities.  Same thing I said about Bush, criticize real problems/failings, and knock off the crap.

And remember,

Wounded Warrior Project: "We'll take your money,

but then you have to go away."
Or, as Gresham put it, “We’ll take your money and you can do fundraisers for us, but we won’t let you use our logo!” Tom says, mocking Nardizzi’s attempts to spin the truth.

This mess is so full of 'Fail' on an industrial scale that it's friggin' amazing; that WWP could screw things up this badly...

If you use Berry's plated bullets,

got a notice from T.J. Conevera that the price is going up, but they're holding to the old prices through tonight.  So if you're in the market for some, might want to order them tonight.

Does explain a lot

about why so many in cities vote/believe as they do:
In their urban cocoons, city-dwellers take for granted the abundance and availability of the economic goods that they consume. For instance, many well-to-do, educated urbanites see no downside to supporting stricter regulations and higher taxes on energy producers, because to them, energy is something that is always there at the flip of a switch (except during the occasional hurricane, as some New Yorkers recently discovered). Life in the city for affluent Americans creates the illusion that all they have to do is demand something and—presto!—it will be there when they want it.

And a very good quote:
Anyone who says that economic security is a human right, has been too much babied. While he battles, other men are risking and losing their lives to protect him. They are fighting this CD, fighting the land, fighting diseases and insects and weather and space and time, for him, while he chatters that all men have a right to security in it some pagan God–Society, The State, The Government, The Commune—must give it to them. Let the fighting men stop fighting this in human Earth for one hour, and he will learn how much security there is.

I'd never heard of the Curley Effect before; it explains a lot, too.
And think about the disgusting mindset it took to come up with this, and the more disgusting mindset required to see the damage it does as a good thing.

More of the wonders of the NHS, coming to us soon under Obamacare.
The number of seriously ill patients forced to wait more than half an hour on trolleys and in ambulances before being admitted to accident and emergency has rocketed by up to 300 per cent in just 12 months.

"Who cares about food prices, we've got a lobby to pay off!"

Back to socialized medicine, this time to the wondrous Canuck system we're told is to damned wonderful:
Surgery wait times for deadly ovarian, cervical and breast cancers in Quebec are three times longer than government benchmarks, leading some desperate patients to shop around for an operating room.
But that’s a waste of time, doctors say, since the problem is spread across Quebec hospitals. And doctors are refusing to accept new patients quickly because they can’t treat them, health advocates say.
...
One worried patient, a mother of five children who waited three months for surgery for invasive breast cancer, said she is worried about the effects of such a long wait. After surgery, she paid $800 for a bone scan in a private clinic rather than wait five months for a scan at the Jewish General Hospital.
“They needed the scan to see what kind of treatment to give me,” said the woman, 40, who asked that her name not be published because she is starting chemotherapy this week. “The doctors are amazing but health system is not working.”

Borrowing from Lady Lucas, proof that Sen. Reid(SlimyBastard-NV) does not want to fix the problems, not even a little.  Just pretend he's doing something so he can stay in office and pay off his associates.

Well, yeah

And, just to annoy some people,

National Ammo Day is Monday

Dammit, I nearly forgot.
