One of the worst parts of being sick is recovery, sometimes; that nasty cough that won't go away, just waits until you're not expecting it and blows up again. Rather than be out with that, collected some more data for study.

Once more, chickenshit politicians want to play both sides:
"See, we made it possible for some teachers to be armed(but we made it so difficult and expensive that almost none will do it)!"
And it gives asshats like USA Today a chance to whine "Is this enough training?"
I'm going to borrow from Mr. Correia on Bookface:
132 hours of training? Are you friggin’ kidding me?
Police departments don’t require 132 hours of dedicated firearms instruction. It has been a while but I think most POST programs are half that, and include lots of things that no teachers will ever be expected to do. It isn’t their job to follow the use of force pyramid while trying to put handcuffs on a belligerent meth head.
And once they are cops, the number of continual training hours after that will vary wildly by department, but they will be lucky to get 132 total hours of gun training over several years. Some departments, unless they are on the SWAT team they won’t get 132 hours in their career.
Just like the Federal Flight Deck program to arm pilots, they are just trying to bury a program in logistics and costs so that nobody can take advantage of it.

There's an idiot politician named Mallard
who decided to signal her virtue and caring(like some other idiots) by cutting up a AR-15. Creating an illegal SBR in the process. And when various people pointed out the violation of federal law, she called them 'NRA trolls' and "No, I didn't, and I turned it over to the police, so there!"
Except she did. And the follow-on effects are likely to be interesting.
And if ATF doesn't follow up, then they've helped weaken the NFA. Thanks. That's actually a good thing. Every video of someone violating the NFA and not getting punished is an affirmative defense down the road. Of course, sawing off, rather than milling or turning a short barrel, is usually a criminal trick. So you've helped all their legal defenses, but then, no one ever claimed you were smart. I know, I'm "gunsplaining" again.
If the BATFEces do follow up, the chopper is going to jail. Also a good thing.
Yep. Interesting quandary for the BATFEIEIO: if they do prosecute, all their usual supporters will have fits because "No intent! Artistic expression!" and such; if they don't, then anybody they've screwed with for accidentally being a fraction of an inch below the legal minimum is going to have their lawyer beating on the door of a judge.
This could get real interesting.
Note she has the usual slanderous crap to throw out(“Why are you more outraged about me taking a gun out of circulation than about our children being murdered in our schools?”) when the problem is her breaking federal law without a second thought.

Socialism, Comrades!
An 18-year-old woman rubbed her swollen belly after fleeing with her
infant daughter when the wounds from her C-section began to ooze pus. A
young man whose femur had torn through his skin in a motorcycle crash
needed antibiotics for an infection. An elderly retiree with a swollen
foot arrived after taking a 20-hour bus ride from Caracas because
doctors there told his family the only treatment they could offer was amputation — without anesthesia or antibiotics.
"If you want to sign, sign. But we are not responsible for the life of
your father," Teresa Tobar, 36, quoted the doctors in Venezuela as
telling her when they handed over the papers to authorize her father's
surgery.
And you've still got idiots saying "We should give socialism a try." The subtext being "Maybe it'll work this time."No, it won't, you idiots.

Due to still recovering
and lack of thought, another tab clearing.
Comrade Mayor & wife took a leaf from the Clinton book: remember the 'co-Presidency'?
Mohammed bin Salman better have REAL good security; he's stayed alive this long, and it's going to take work to keep him breathing.
The islamists have to be crapping their loincloths over him.
Sheriff Asshole and a bunch of other agencies REALLY don't want the commoners to see those videos, for some reason.
Obamacare working as planned: killing off more of the non-contributors to the collective.
I strongly suspect that if this chickenshit actually thought NRA members were terrorists, he'd be a lot more careful in his words.
Speaking of actual terrorists: THEM a lot of the media has a real soft spot for.
Meanwhile, in Australia, a boomstick might be real handy. Assuming the lords would let the commoners have them.
Not news: this time of year, it gets warm, then cold, then warmer, cold(sometimes colder) again. Right now it's decent, and I'd really like to get some stuff done in the back yard, but if I'm in the wind too much it starts the damned cough again. I may try it anyway, this crap has to get done sometime.

But the right is all racist and stuff...
Progressives who have never quite cut the cord with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan despite his anti-Semitic rants are suddenly paying the price, starting with the Women’s March leaders.
But if you’re of the left, and happen to be a Democratic Party politician, you can get away with making excuses for notorious anti-Semite and Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.
And when those excuses are made, the left is largely silent.
You could throw in Sharpton as well: hates Jews hates whites, hates gays, but 'He's a leader of the African-American community!' Etc.
Well, this isn't a good thing.
Brazil is fighting to stay ahead of one of its worst epidemics of yellow fever, a sometimes-fatal virus transmitted by Haemagogus and Sabethes mosquitoes and named for the yellowing of the skin and eyes of those infected.
Though the surge has largely been in rural areas, there is increasing concern that if people don't get the vaccine, the virus could spread into the country's biggest cities.
VA really needs to elect this guy.

Freitas continued: "Then after
that, it will be semiautomatic rifles, after that, it will
be semiautomatic handguns, then it'll be revolvers, shotguns. Because
when the policies fail to produce the results you are promising to your
constituents, you'll be back with more reasons on why we've gotta
infringe on Second Amendment rights."
Another
reason why it's difficult to have an honest and open debate on gun
policy, Freitas argued, is because Democrats are always comparing
Republicans to Nazis and segregationists.
This is where Freitas really unleashed.
"I
just want to remind everyone very quickly, it was not our [Republican]
party that supported slavery, that fought women’s suffrage, that rounded
up tens of thousands of Asian-Americans and put them in concentration
camps, that supported Jim Crow, that supported segregation, or supported
mass resistance. That wasn’t our party, that was the Democrat party!"
he said.
And a bunch of the Democrats had fits, and got triggered, and "I have seen many of my colleagues emotionally shaken and bothered by
either a lack of concern for facts. Or just simply playing to the
cameras." Yeah, actually getting slapped with facts would do that to them.Wednesday, March 07, 2018
There is no middle ground with people who call you a crack whore
and an unfit mother because you own a gun to protect herself.
...
There is no middle ground with people who call the NRA terrorists or say we are like ISIS. Especially if they downplay the Pulse Shooting as an anti-gay hate crime and not an act of actual ISIS inspired terrorism. Or accepted Obama calling the San Bernardino shooting or Ft. Hood shooting “workplace violence.”
These people may be a loud minority but they are driving the pop culture. We saw with Dick’s, REI, Detla, WalMart, etc, that they are willing to put politics over profits. Which should come as no surprise as the NFL and Hollywood has been doing that for over a year. Hitting them in the wallet won’t shift them anymore.
We shouldn’t have to negotiate for our rights from a bunch of people who see us as less than them. That’s the very reason the Bill of Rights exists, to protect our rights from angry mob rule.
And there you have a big part of why so much of the left hates the BoR.

Short version of this crap:
"Who cares if we don't know what we're talking about? Your gunsplaining is just trying to shut down discourse!"
Yes, not allowing idiots to change terms and words and their meanings at will is 'gunsplaining'. And you don't do it to correct errors, oh no, it's because you're EVIL!! Etc.
Idiots talk about 'gas-powered receivers' and 'full-semi-automatic military-grade guns', but we're supposed to ignore it. Apparently because they care.
Same kinds of idiots who keep insisting "We need a discussion!" when what they actually mean is "You shut up while I insult, demean and threaten you for not believing as I think you should! And if you respond we'll call you a hater and block you and delete your words!"

Gave up and went to a doc yesterday
Either my thermometer is a liar, or the fever turned out to be coming and going.
Strep test, neg.
Flu test, neg.
Pneumonia test, neg.
Short version: they couldn't tell what the hell I'd got.
Sometimes being unique is a Good Thing; this isn't one of them.
Whether it's the meds given, or the thing running its course I don't know, but I'm a lot better today than I was yesterday. So there's hope.*
*I refuse to say 'light at the end of the tunnel' because that so often turns out to be either a train or the ignition flash.

Jeez, if this is indeed accurate,
then next time someone whines about many of the public not trusting the police, they should be slapped with a copy of this. Because this is such bullshit...
Picking one,
Back at the precinct, as Deluca was being taken out of the car, Marrero struck him with his police baton, opening up a gash on the top of his head. Another officer said there was so much blood, they had to clean it up with a mop. It took 12 staples at the hospital to close the wound.
In a deposition, Deluca said Marrero told him “You can’t disrespect us in the street like that.” Deluca received a $398,000 settlement, of which Marrero was ordered to pay $4,000.
A year after Deluca’s arrest, Marrero and his partner held a handcuffed prisoner down while another officer stomped on the person’s head. During an internal affairs investigation, Marrero falsely denied that any officer used physical force.
All told, by 2014, the city had paid about $900,000 to settle accusations against officer Marrero.
Publicly, neither he nor the city admitted any wrongdoing.
But in secret, after an investigation into Deluca’s arrest and the stomping incident a year later, Marrero pleaded guilty to multiple department charges, including striking an individual with “no legitimate police purpose,” “making unnecessary physical contact,” and “providing inaccurate, incomplete misleading answers” to department investigators, according to the files BuzzFeed News obtained.
Yet the NYPD commissioner at the time, Ray Kelly, decided that wasn’t a reason to fire him. Instead he was put on dismissal probation and he forfeited 45 vacation days.
Marrero remains on the force today, earning almost $120,000 last year. He continues to patrol the streets, making dozens of arrests since he was found guilty by the department.
Assaults, lying under oath, tampering with evidence, with witnesses...
And getting away with it.

One more big find by an amateur
Finally, on a summer day in 2012, a self-taught fossil hunter named Ray Stanford noticed the unmistakable shape of the nodosaur’s track as he drove out of a parking lot at what is now NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt.
Reportedly, Frances McDormand, in the speech that followed her award as best actress, endorsed the use of “inclusion riders.” Apparently, these are clauses that highly sought-after actors stick into their contracts. They demand “diversity” in the hiring of other employees.
The need for such riders, if need there be, implies that Hollywood — leftist, self-righteous, preachy Hollywood — isn’t controlled just by sexual predators. It is also controlled by racists.
Say it ain’t so.

Expanded tab clearing
because I'm somewhat better but still don't want to do much.
"I actually want to ban all guns, but if only rich people can afford them I'll go with that."
Fucking Democrat asshole.
The Florida legislature has managed to completely screw the armed teacher program.
Because they think dead kids are far preferable to living ones that were saved by a teach with an icky gun.
Not only is (formerly Great)Britain playing "Ban all the dangerous things!", but
Knife crimes are rising across the country – but police forces are prosecuting fewer cases, according to new data.
Freedom of Information responses from 30 out of 43 police forces across England and Wales, obtained by BBC News, found that the number of knife crimes that led to perpetrators being charged or taken to court has fallen by 8 per cent from 2015 to 2016.
Apparently blaming objects instead of the people doing things wasn't sensitive enough, or something.
Britain is screwed.
The Spoiled Brats of Parkland; that covers them nicely.
"But if we do that we won't get our progressive bennies from the Democrats!"
And I'm done.

'Getting out of control'? Guy, you went past being in control
a looong time ago.
Ruger makes a version of their Precision Rifle in .22lr. And Shannon Watts is all pissed-off that someone 18 or over can buy it. Because "EVIL BLACK RIFLE!", etc., and took to Twitter* over it.
In the comments(I know, but I couldn't help myself) one of her Twidiots named Paul Wu has a fit because people dared point out that this is just a bolt-action .22:
'And stop it with your ammosexual pedantry as a desperate ploy to muddy the waters. You know exactly what gun control advocates mean when we say assault style weapons - semi-automatic, pistol grip, threaded barrel that accepts intermediate-power cartridges. '
Thus informing is that
'Pedantry' is now defined as 'pointing out facts that he doesn't approve of',
And that Paul is an ignorant fool. Or tool. Both, actually.
Note that according to this, a threaded barrel apparently turns a bolt-action rifle into an 'assault style weapon'. If, again, you're an ignorant fool.
I think he could've used a pocket pistol. The piece of crap who did this earned ventilation.
From NPR, mind you, accurate information on violent crimes involving firearms. Though this is a bit of nonsense:
"Compared with 1993, the peak of U.S. gun homicides, the firearm homicide rate was 49 percent lower in 2010, and there were fewer deaths, even though the nation's population grew," according to the Pew study. "The victimization rate for other violent crimes with a firearm—assaults, robberies and sex crimes—was 75 percent lower in 2011 than in 1993."
All of that is good news — but many Americans don't seem to be aware of it. In a survey, the Pew Research Center found that only 12 percent of Americans believe the gun crime rate is lower today than it was in 1993; 56 percent believe it's higher.
They probably don't know it because, led by a bunch of talking heads(including some of yours, NPR) who constantly scream about 'the epidemic of gun violence!', they don't hear these facts.
It seems that some of the teenagers being used(abused?) by the media and left(but I repeat myself) to demand "Listen to the children, ban guns!" are now comparing themselves to the Founders of this country. Because "They were young too, but you don't tell people to ignore them."
Oh, you poor little twits. You have accomplishments like theirs, maybe I'll listen to your "Do what I want!" demands. Doubt it, but at least you'd have actually DONE SOMETHING other than be a media puppet.
*Go look if you want. Some people actually do point out she's having a fit over a bolt-action .22, but her twidiots are still crapping.

Only in Californicated or someplace similar
could something so easy to solve become such a damned mess.
As coworker said "Wild cattle hunting license; how many could you sell?"
As coworker said "Wild cattle hunting license; how many could you sell?"
I don't think this is the European model they want us to follow
... Sellers in Bosnia and Serbia have networks in Sweden’s diaspora and are
so eager to unload excess grenades, often rusted from decades in
storage, that they throw them in free with the purchase of AK-47s, Mr.
Appelgren said. In Sweden the street price of a hand grenade is 100 kroner, or $12.50.
And this is a fine piece of "Let's not talk about the real reasons this is happening":
Police officials are more likely to attribute gang violence to a failure of integration, citing a recent study of a Swedish street gang that found 24 percent of its members were ethnic Swedes, and 42 percent had been born in Sweden.
Whyever would there be failures to integrate in- oh, hell, I can't keep doing this. We know the reason, THEY know it, they just still don't want to admit it outright.
