This is what happens when you let bureaucrats change the law

by changing their mind.

A: Most gun laws are stupid or useless.
B: Allowing an agency to change laws this way is idiotic.

Looks like the rains have stopped for a while, so

we're back to hot.  And more humid than standard due to all that water.  So, at this time of evening, being in the cooler indoors has good points.

Few days ago I was finally able to hit the outdoor range

and try some loads.  Since have a different bullet than before, I tried some black loads using 65.0 grains of 2f; not as good as the 68.0 loads with the Lee bullet.  Going to have to work up some more with 66 grains and try them, and maybe on up to 68 again, see what happens.

One thing I did find: the Lyman bullet has wide, deep lube grooves which helped keep the fouling softer, and easier to clean out when wiping between groups.

Also had a chance to fire a Trapdoor Springfield in .45-70.  Interesting rifle, but I find myself wondering(again) why the bleep they made the sights so small back then?  With perfect vision I'd think they'd be a problem, with glasses...

Speaking of, on the Sharps used, I wish there was a way to fix a scope to it without going the whole Malcolm scope route; for testing loads it would be nice to have a good optic on top.

Also, the splatter targets like the Shoot-n-C are great at longer distances; I was given several, and they make spotting shots a LOT easier at 200 yards.  Now I'll have to get some.

Mike Venturino is a writer on firearms, and one of his articles on loading for .45-70 stated that the best smokeless he'd used for the purpose was Accurate 5744.  Well, on the 340-grain Lyman hollowpoint it's the best I've tried.  Lately, with the heavier bullets, I've been using black and Blackhorn 209, but I should try Accurate with them.

From a country with an actual censorship office,

what else would you expect?
Authorities in the country are planning almost 200 “collection events” over the next three months. And one police official, Mike Clement, deputy commissioner of national operations for the New Zealand police, told the newspaper, “We urge people to stay calm…We acknowledge that you’re a law-abiding citizen and through no fault of your own you know find yourself in possession of firearms that are now illegal.”

He reminded the newspaper that there is an “amnesty period,” so there will be no excuse for retaining the now-contraband firearms.
Except for, say, being an honest citizen who's done now harm but it being treated like a criminal who just hasn't criminaled yet.

Or the possibility of needing it for one of the purposes of arms: fighting tyrants.

It's the 4th, so, since I hope to load some more freedom signaling devices,

Nice way to put it

Not a Fascist in the economic sense (which isn’t how most people use the word these days, anyway), but in the “willing and eager to use the apparatus of the state to stomp on your liberties” sense.

Why, Frederica Wilson, current Democratic member of the US House of Representatives:
Those people who are online making fun of members of Congress are a disgrace, and there is no need for anyone to think that is unacceptable [sic],” Wilson said during comments made Tuesday outside of the Homestead Temporary Shelter for Unaccompanied Children in Homestead, Florida.

“We’re gonna shut them down and work with whoever it is to shut them down, and they should be prosecuted,” she continued. “You cannot intimidate members of Congress, frighten members of Congress. It is against the law, and it’s a shame in this United States of America.”

Actually, you control-freak idiot, it's not against the law to lampoon, insult, belittle, and generally annoy politicians.  And, long as we keep idiots like you from breaking the Constitution, it won't be.

So you can kiss our ass.

Let's talk about some cops who need to be fired and prosecuted,

and someone, who came up with this idea, needs to be fired.
She recalls SWAT members kicking in her front door, before firing at her pit bull.

"They put me and my son on our knees to watch her die. The officer squatted over her while she was dying with the search warrant, and he said, ‘You know why we're here?’ and I said, ‘No I don't know.’ When he said, ‘We’re here because your gas is off.’ I lost it," Zorich said.
What. The. HELL?
The lead officer in the SWAT raid is a part of the department’s Problem Properties Unit, which goes after neglected properties in St. Louis County.
I'm wanting some explanation for this.
Zorich’s attorney says police were tipped off by one of her neighbors for not having her gas on.

"There is a disturbing lack of oversight," said Dobson.
No SHIT?

Now, ignore all the other insanity here, and focus on this:
Dobson says the lead officer fabricated a story to a judge and fellow SWAT members, leading them to believe Zorich’s sons were highly violent, to get the no-knock warrant issued.
If you don't, for some reason, nail people to the wall for the other things, this bastard lied on a sworn statement; if he's not prosecuted and fired it's the prosecutors and PD telling people they don't mind officers committing felonies.

And, when something like this comes out, it's almost always the case that it's not the first time; how many others did he lie?  And how many other SWAT raids have been done on bullshit excuses?

If this is true, then

the stomping on these clowns better happen sooner.  Because if it's later, it'll be that much worse.
They aren’t just threatening your regular, garden variety violence, like a fistfight. This time they escalated it in a very specific way.

An ANTIFA member named ‘Pound Your Boy’ posted on a conservative Telegram channel that:
“We already have the Muriatic acid, wax, and balloons.”
...
“How’s DC coming along? Cant fight if you cant see. I want to blind as many of you c— suckers as possible. A nice balloon filled with Muriatic acid, covered in wax will so do the job.”

Professional Journalists...

It’s odd that the left’s army of journalists can nod and pump their fist along with claims that “free speech” is violence and scream that the very notion of blaming the victim when it comes to sexual assault and rape is a grave sin unworthy of modern society.
Yet a reporter being beaten up and having his equipment stolen from him is apparently justifiable because he was somehow asking for it by being there. The rage suddenly disappears from mainstream reporters that a person not doing anything but recording the events had violence visited upon him despite the fact that they clutch their pearls and claim violence will come from someone like President Donald Trump calling the press the enemy of the people.
In truth, this is a very big deal. It shows us just how far the left will go in order to push a 1984-esque environment on the population.
Note that his 'being there' is an offense because he's told the truth about Antifa and their other attacks.  And that's not tolerable to these asshats.

I find myself lusting after a Trapdoor Springfield

in .50-70.

Part of me says "You don't need this."

The rest says "No, but I want it..."

And finding out Starline makes brass does not help the matter.

Someone dug around Kamala Harris's family history

and the left isn't happy.  Yahoo 'News', for example, headlined it as 'Harris Attacked for Her Race' as I recall.

I'm waiting for "You can't blame her for people in her family's past!", at which point "So why the hell are you blaming people today for slavery more than a century ago?" will be the response.

Guess what this bullshit makes you, Biden?

It makes you the enemy.

Which really makes you no different than all the other Evil Party candidates.

I don't trust Trump, and literally ALL the said EP candidates are gun-grabbing assholes.  Jeez, some choices.

Anybody in Portland who counts on the Portland PD is a fool

Unless you're part of the New Red Guard, then they'll stand around with a thumb up their ass while you do your work.
