Why the hell else would you get into the enclosure with an apex predator?
I can imagine the bears thinking "That's OUR squeaky snack you're taking!" And I'm really surprised she's alive.

Tab clearing
Be surprised if that part of the world wasn't haunted.
This. Is. CNN.
As has been noted, if your cause is just, why lie?
EVERY Democrat running for the Oval Office wants to trash the 2nd.
"But I bought an ELECTRIC CAR, why am I being punished?"
No, this doesn't sound suspicious at all...
Arrested for 'illegal manufacture and sale of assault weapons', out the next day on $50k bond? With no charges filed?
And it wouldn't surprise me to find out the 'manufacturing equipment and tools' were the stuff you could find in most garage/workshop setups lots of people have.
Considering the Evil Party lately, they invited him BECAUSE he hates Jews. They may have a problem with the hating gays and women who won't do what they're told and so forth, but they'll work around that.

"Can't stop the signal, Mal."
Very, very true.
After the hearing, NCA deputy director for investigations Chris Farrimond said: "It is the first time that a fully-functioning firearms factory creating firearms from scratch has been discovered, to our knowledge, in the UK.
"It was producing handguns, copies of a Browning pistol, from absolute scratch - from the nuts and bolts and producing fully functioning lethal firearms at the other end of it, with the bullets to go with it."
No way of telling whether they were actually manufacturing ammo, or reloading cases, but either is possible.
I'll bet there are others. I've read that during WWII Sten subguns were produced in bicycle shops in the UK, so making something similar now wouldn't be difficult. But they still think they can make them go away...
There's a site called Impro Guns that tracks information about such, the post links notes
that this guy did manufacture the ammo for at least one of the guns he made.

The blood dancers are getting some pushback
Survivors of a Colorado school shooting walked out of a vigil for their slain classmate Wednesday night in protest of politicians and other groups using it as a platform for gun control, a local report said.
Short version: the Brady clowns set this up and, from the sound of it, said it was just a memorial, then had a bunch of anti-rights clowns show up and start lecturing. Which didn't go over well.
Further, from this post, the Brady clowns 'apologizing':
I'm calling bullshit; they knew EXACTLY what they were doing, especially with this bitch invited:
Moms Demand Action's Laura Reeves heavily politicizes the STEM School Highlands Ranch vigil:
-Blames NRA
-Demonizes pro-gun politicians
-Advocates working to elect Democrats
-Tells students to register voters, stage walkouts, raise $$$, & use social media to promote gun control
'We're sorry' my ass; the only thing they're sorry about is that a bunch of students didn't put up with it and put their bullshit in the public eye.

These people are both idiots, and dangerous
This crap showed up on Fecesbook
A: Show me ANYTHING indicating that ever happened outside someone's fevered imagination.
B: Know what happens to a troop of baboons if all the alpha males die? Most of the troop dies, because they're the ones in the front line to defend the troop when the predators approach.
C: Assuming it ever happened, and some of the infant males reach teenage years, what happens? Millions of years of hard-wired instinct causes them to start acting like males, except here they wouldn't have the teaching of the adult males to make sure they don't screw up. That's not going to end well.
I'll throw in that this is a fine demonstration of progressive idiocy: instinct doesn't really exist, EVERYTHING is due to being socialized that way, and if you just socialize them 'properly' they can be made more perfect and Society Will Change To Happiness.
That anyone can actually believe this shit is amazing, but they do. And some of them are like trasy, who seems to like the idea of wiping out adult males so they can properly mold the kids. Which is one more reason to, if you haven't, take up the practice of arms.
Added: I am informed by someone with experience that the morons involved have no idea what female baboons are like. But that wouldn't fit the narrative, so they'd ignore it.

"Women don't lie about rape!"
Unfortunately, some do. And they do a lot of damage. Therefore, harsh punishment is needed.
Crap like this is why assuming someone is guilty because they were accused is idiotic.

The food police might be wrong(again)?
One more time.
Few years back, when the FP had another reversal on something, I did some reading. Then did some more. Came to the conclusion that they were full of crap, and went back to using butter, and saving bacon grease for cooking, and stopped worrying about eating meat.
Couple of years after that my doctor insisting I should get a full physical, and when the results came back he'd written on the bottom "Whatever you're doing, keep doing it". So I have.
I suggest as a start, if you're interested, the book mentioned in the post, The Big Fat Surprise. That's one of those I ran across, and it has a real good look at the history of the nutrition research* that got us into this mess.
Added: here's another one
*Some of which is a disgrace to the name.

"Yes, we did, but we don't like to call it 'spying',
so we call it 'surveillance'."
“I was very concerned by his [Bill Barr’s] use of the word spying, which I think is a loaded word,” Shaheen said. “When FBI agents conduct investigations against alleged mobsters, suspected terrorists, other criminals, do you believe they’re engaging in spying when they’re following FBI investigative policies and procedures?”
“Well, that’s not the term I would use,” said Wray.
Assholes.
This is the FBI Director who said 'No, I don't think anything in this reflects badly on the Bureau' when asked about Comey and Sztrok and others breaking laws and rules and procedures. After all, the Prime Directive is "Protect the Sacred Bureau".
The other day some retired agent said Wray is dedicated to cleaning the place up. I have my doubts.

Well, I'm now a ladle believer
In casting big bullets.
I've mentioned before that I have a Lee bottom-pour melter for casting. Generally it works great, but when casting the big(.45 caliber), heavy(500 grains and more) bullets I was getting a lot of rejects: the lube grooves wouldn't fill out completely, or the base wouldn't be right*. Did some research and a lot of people mentioned they'd not had good results on those bullets with a melter like this, that a ladle worked better. I'd read that before, but this was at the point of "I'm sick of throwing them back in the pot", so last time I cast I found my old ladle and tried it. Short trial, but seemed to work.
So I invested in a small Lee melter designed for ladle use, and today was able to give it a try with the Lyman 535-grain mold. And holy crap, the difference! Once the mold was up to heat, very few bullets with defects. The ladle is slower, and the pot's only four-pound capacity, but that works out: between the ladle use and adding metal to the pot, the mold didn't get so hot it needed to cool more**, and with the low reject rate it's better this way.
I also tried it with another mold, a Lee that throws a 405-grain hollowbase bullet. Reject rate a lot lower with this one as well.
So ladle it is for these from now on.
* In case you're not familiar with this, a defect on the base- not filled out, a crease, whatever- is worse than a defect elsewhere; that's the last place airflow can affect the bullet, and can really affect accuracy.
**A mold gets too hot, the bullets come out with a frosted appearance, and in some molds can actually have a somewhat rough(very slightly, but there) surface.

Short version: if you trust the Southern Poverty Lies Center
about anything, you're either a fool or a bigot.
Last week, the Poynter Institute for Media Studies, a non-profit journalism and research organization, published a list of 500 unreliable new websites. But the list, which included many conservative news and think tank websites, was itself unreliable, and Poynter has since retracted it.
...
Golding's LinkedIn account lists him as a freelance podcast producer for the Southern Poverty Law Center. The SPLC did not respond to my questions about whether other SPLC staff had any influence or involvement over the list. Golding did not immediately respond to my request for comment, either. According to his Twitter feed, he works with the SPLC's "Teaching Tolerance" project. He was formerly a research fellow at the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute and a producer for NPR.

"Nice weather the next few days!" Right
About twelve hours later it's "Storms the next few days, some severe!", etc.
If it doesn't dry out enough to mow this afternoon, it will be shortgrass prairie, and I may need to borrow a scythe from someone.

Some understand this; some insist it's a fantasy
Considering history, I'll go with "You want to ban arms? Screw you."
“Venezuelans didn’t care enough about it. The idea of having the means to protect your home was seen as only needed out in the fields. People never would have believed they needed to defend themselves against the government,” Vanegas explained. “Venezuelans evolved to always hope that our government would be non-tyrannical, non-violator of human rights, and would always have a good enough control of criminality.”
He said it didn’t take long for such a wide-eyed public perception to fall apart. “If guns had been a stronger part of our culture, if there had been a sense of duty for one to protect their individual rights, and as a show of force against a government power – and had legal carry been a common thing – it would have made a huge difference,” he lamented.
Also, ever noticed that most of the clowns who hate the private citizen having arms are very fond of communism/socialism?
Not surprising; it's a lot harder to say "Do this or else" to people who can shoot back.

This. Is. CNN.
CNN covered the January controversy surrounding Nick Sandmann and his fellow Covington Catholic School students 23 times, yet thus far hasn’t covered footage of children at a Philadelphia Islamic center reading poetry about chopping off heads.
Video from last month of kids at the Philadelphia Muslim American Society (MAS) Islamic Center showed them reading about chopping off heads and subjecting the enemies of Allah to “eternal torture.”
What, anyone actually thinks CNN is a news bureau or something?
