D-Day.
I'm thinking of the two great-uncles I used to know; one in the Navy in the Pacific, the other in the Army, Europe. Neither wanted to go to war, neither enjoyed it, neither talked about it after(and I mean ever; a little bit not long before they died, but that was it).
A word of warning to those out there planning badness: Do not start it with people whose attitude toward war is "Well, crap. This is a nasty job. Let's get it done so we can go home." They will kill you and turn your home into a rock pile full of smelly organics.
They may well help the survivors rebuild, assuming they've learned the lesson, but that won't do you any good.

And along with the incompetence and theft and molesting,
let's not forget the former TSA bigshot Pistole announcing 'flying is a privilege', though the bastard had no authority to make such a proclamation.
Pistole resigned last December — in time to miss the uproar this week about TSA agents failing to detect 95% of the weapons and bombs smuggled past them by Inspector General testers. While Pistole is leading the PR pushback to absolve his former agency, the I.G. report is the latest confirmation that TSA continues blindly blundering and pointlessly abusing Americans' rights and privacy.
Though you must remember, to some of the clowns pushing the abuse is probably a plus.
Next time someone starts on the "Socialist Sweden is WONDERFUL!" line, point them to this guy.
Today, it’s as if the inmates are running the asylum. The politicians are participating in a chicken race of “goodness” where everybody tries to one-up each other in caring for the citizens of OTHER countries while Swedish retirees, school children, handicapped and other vulnerable categories of people are thorougly ignored. Violence is exploding. Jihadist Trojan horses are flowing through the porous border along with the tens of thousands ID-less refugees.
But what makes me the most pessimistic about Sweden’s future is how the social fabric itself has been undermined.
...
Then you have the Swedish school system. There really is no nice way to put it; it’s a complete disaster. The minister of education is a man-boy who spends his time making Youtube-videos showing heart-signs with his hands to boost school results, while university-level students can’t read and comprehend the course literature.
Yeah, just friggin' wonderful. But there's free health care!
The famous Swedish health care system is a good example. 120 000 hospital beds in the late 1960s became 20 000 today. Cancer patients are put on waiting lists for months. Entire emergency wards shut down for summer.
Don't expect them to believe it. Because Socialism Good!!, even when it sucks.

Because St. Louis has actual crime so under control
that they have to use the SWAT team for crap like this.
And killing family pets, of course. Which they'll get away with. Again.
And they don't understand why people who used to support them now consider them out-of-control thugs.
'97% of scientists' my ass.
Another 'Make it yourself' AR lower.
And one more.

Well, there will be no further tests for Grab A Gun, it seems;
informed them I'd need some more funds for the next rental and ammo, and no response. At all. Which is rude, especially since a simple "We've decided not to continue" would have done it.
In other news, this really should involve subpoenas. And people going to jail for either not responding or lying.
According to new congressional bombshell testimony today, the IRS set up a previously unknown “special project team” comprised of “hundreds of attorneys,” including the IRS Chief Counsel (one of only two politically appointed positions at the IRS).
The “special project” this team was given? Concealing information from Congress.
The IRS’s director of privacy, governmental liaison, and disclosure division, Mary Howard, testified that soon after the IRS targeting scandal was revealed, the IRS “amassed hundreds of attorneys to go through the documents [requested by Congress] and redact them.”
Members of Congress have long complained that many of the documents produced by the IRS have been “redacted to the point of absurdity.”
Now we know why.
No wonder they didn't have people to answer the phones, they were spending all the funds on lawyers.
And who didn't see this coming(I know you people did, put your hands down)?
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s (D.) promised minimum wage hikes for fast food restaurants could shut down one out of every five chain restaurants in the state, according to a new survey.
The Employment Policies Institute, a free market think tank and critic of minimum wage hikes, surveyed nearly 1,000 self-described fast food entrepreneurs about how they would respond to statewide, industry-specific wage hikes. More than 20 percent of respondents said they were “very likely” to go out of business if the state raises the minimum wage for fast food joints to $15, a 70 percent increase from the current $8.75 statewide minimum wage.
Crap, even the firefighters in DC are assholes.
Mills, 77, had been a city government employee before the January 2014 incident, when he collapsed in front a fire station in Northeast D.C. Family members and bystanders ran to the nearby fire station, but instead of helping, the firefighters inside turned them away.
They were told that the firefighters could not respond to the emergency until someone called 911 to file a report. A passing ambulance eventually stopped to help Mills, but he later died.
According to The Washington Post, an internal investigation found massive negligence at the fire station and said that one firefighter decided to read a book in his bed instead of going to help Mills.

...According to the Telegraph, Attenborough was flown to the White House from his London home last month for a 30-minute meeting with the president. Apparently, the president is a big nature buff—though the meeting seems like it was a bit odd…
Even upon leaving Washington, though, Attenborough admits he was “baffled” as to why Obama called for the meeting in the first place, other than just to chat.
Not to mention what hit cost. Though since it was other peoples' money, Obama doesn't care about that, either.
Yeah, the leftist professors get attacked, and suddenly there's a problem!

Rep. Blackburn, has there been anything out of this IRS and/or Koskinen
that would make you think they'd still answer to Congress, or the law?
In response, the IRS sent Blackburn a form letter, which Blackburn received late Wednesday. The letter thanked her for submitting the request, and said the IRS has an "ongoing examination program" to ensure tax-exempt groups comply with tax law.
"The information you submitted will be considered in this program," it said. The letter was from Margaret Von Lienen, director of exempt organizations examinations, but she didn't sign it.
They're sitting there with Obama still using them as enforcers, Koskinen willing to lie under oath, and another Obama-selected AG who's not going to go after the IRS(or anybody else unless they've got a 'R' after their name or wear a badge) short of- possibly- Koskinen being caught committing murder?
If that 'can't even bother to sign it' doesn't tell you the contempt they have for Congress, nothing will. You know what just might work? Start sending out subpoenas, and if people like to you or refuse to show up, arrest warrants that actually put them in a cell.
Otherwise, you'll get nothing.

It appears Obama chose the EPA Director because she's either as deluded
or(possibly both) as big a liar as he is.
EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy told Big Think in an interview that while there are limits to how much the federal government can do for issues like global warming, the public needs to trust how the EPA translates the “complicated” science into real-life actions.
Trust? You expect us to trust you clowns? Really? Especially after this line?
“That’s why EPA can move environmental standards forward so effectively and grow jobs at the same time.”
It's amazing she can say crap like that with a straight face. And not need to wipe said face afterward.
About that new Oregon law,
Ralliers will refuse to comply with the new law and will continue to buy, sell, trade, and exchange firearms without going through the background check system. Opponents of the bill say that it infringes on the 2nd Amendment and law enforcement professionals, such as Palmer and many other county Sheriffs, say that it is unenforceable, as no one would know if the law was being broken if 2 people conduct a firearms transfer in their garage or in a parking lot.
Just like up in Washington. So what do the "I want to jail those gun nuts!" police chiefs and sheriffs do when people- including lots of other LE- say "Screw you, we're not obeying."? The jails aren't big enough, and the court costs and lawsuits...
Especially when you consider that's only a thousand or so who came out and said publicly "Screw you."

And Disney Syndrome strikes again
...Bison have gored two people in the Old Faithful area within the past three weeks.
"They're in a park and used to people, so if you are of good heart and have good intentions, they won't hurt you." Or some such stupidity.
Which reminded me of this
You can hear the supposed adult shooting the video taking note of the warning signs, and thinking it's funny. They're damn lucky it decided they weren't worth a full-out attack.
Wonder if the kids actually got the idea?
The
latest attack Tuesday was an especially violent scene, as a bison
charged a 62-year-old Australian man and flung him into the air several
times.
...
The attack happened as a group of people crowded near the bison as it
lay on grass near a paved trail. The man was taking photos of the shaggy
beast from just a few feet, but the whole crowd was much too close,
park officials said."They're in a park and used to people, so if you are of good heart and have good intentions, they won't hurt you." Or some such stupidity.

Let's start with Geraldo Rivera is an asshat
You probably already knew that, but he provides further proof.
Geraldo mocked Vaughn’s contention that the Founding Fathers hedged in the right to bear arms so we could resist tyranny not only outside our borders, but also within.
Yeah, all those things the founders of this country, and the citizens, said: they mean nothing. Right.
Geraldo later denied that guns are used by law-abiding citizens to stop crimes. He asked fellow host Eric Bolling, “When was the last time you heard of a civilian stopping a crime with a gun?” And when Bolling said, “It happens thousands of times per day,” Geraldo responded by saying, “That’s a legend. You’re watching too much True Detective.”
A friggin' idiot to whom facts mean nothing when they conflict with what he wants to be true.
Now tell us what you really think, guy.
The TSA is incompetent, hostile, abusive, and a den of thieves. Its agents have been charged in a range of crimes, many of them related to looting the passengers they purport to protect but also including drug smuggling and child pornography. The agency is very little more than an employment program swelling the ranks of the American Federation of Government Employees, a sure source of Democratic political donations (more than $5 million in recent years; it is the 29th largest single donor in the country), and a platform for patronage.
Said it before, I'll say it again: it's like someone doesn't actually want to defeat ISIL or something...
But there are no TACPs or SF controllers with Iraqi defense forces. Instead, our air power is used largely against fixed enemy facilities or fleeting targets detected by pilots overhead, or UAVS. But in many cases, those "perishable" targets escape. This past week, an unnamed USAF fighter pilot, with experience against ISIS, told Fox News that once a fleeting target is discovered, it can take over an. Hour to secure command approval to attack it. By that time, many of those targets have disappeared, or reached areas where fears of collateral damage prevent execution of an air strike.

You might remember a few years back when Joan Peterson wanted questions answered
by us horrible and uncaring(etc.) gun owners. Stumbled upon one guys' answers, and they're worth going over again. They include
4. Do you believe that I and people with whom I work intend to ban your guns?
Yes.
5. If yes to #4, how do you think that could happen ( I mean the physical action)?
The question is incoherent. "Banning" requires no physical action at all, and is quite simple to do. Even Clinton managed it. If you mean confiscation, well, there you've got a problem. Were you really coming to me for suggestions?

Therapy for that man. Now.
Because he's delusional and they have to keep the Football around him.
“You know, I think I am the closest thing to a Jew that has ever sat in this office,” the president claimed, according to Axelrod.
Admittedly there might be some Jews who'd have sat in the pews and nodded to the Jew-hating speec- uh, sermons of Reverend Wright, but no, I don't think so.

Well, Californicated sits where two plates are grinding together,
so does this surprise anyone?
The latest research into the little known, fault-riddled, undersea landscape off of Southern California and northern Baja California has revealed more worrisome details about a tectonic train wreck in the Earth’s crust with the potential for magnitude 7.9 to 8.0 earthquakes. The new study supports the likelihood that these vertical fault zones have displaced the seafloor in the past, which means they could send out tsunami-generating pulses towards the nearby coastal mega-city of Los Angeles and neighboring San Diego.

If this is correct, Waco PD and the prosecutors and the judge
are looking to have their ass handed to them. And the PD is thinking "Y'know, we really screwed-up here."
Waco, Texas – Earlier today, detainees in the Jack Harwell Detention Center in Waco were told that in exchange for bond reductions, they must sign a document stating the Waco police “had the right to arrest the inmate and that he/she will not file a lawsuit against McLennan County and/or the City of Waco.”
I think this is gonna get real interesting.

Yeah, you missed bombs and guns and such almost all the time,
but you seized a record number of prohibited items(nail clippers, knitting needles, anything else shiny that caught your fancy) so Mr. Johnson said the stark number of missed contraband items looked bad “out of context,”...
Yeah, just remember all the children fondled and adults felt-up and remember the context of missing actual bombs and such 67 times out of 70.
And the guy in charge? Fire him? Oh no! He's a valuable federal official, we'll just transfer him(you know, like the liars and lawbreakers of ATF).

And now "Yes, there's global warming BUT
Climate change means rain is returning to previously drought-stricken areas of Africa exactly 30 years since Live Aid raised £150million to help starving people there, a new study has revealed.
...
But now research by scientists at the National Centre for Atmospheric Science at the University of Reading, has shown how increased greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, which have caused climate change, have triggered a return of crucial seasonal rains to the Sahel region.
Etc. And how have they decided this?
The researchers used a supercomputer climate simulator to study different influences on North African rainfall.
Followed by "But the greenhouse gasses are still going to get us! The models say so!"
Allow me to introduce, if you don't already know of him, Freeman Dyson:
What’s wrong with the models. I mean, I haven’t examined them in detail, (but) I know roughly what’s in them. And the basic problem is that in the case of climate, very small structures, like clouds, dominate. And you cannot model them in any realistic way. They are far too small and too diverse.
So they say, ‘We represent cloudiness by a parameter,’ but I call it a fudge factor. So then you have a formula, which tells you if you have so much cloudiness and so much humidity, and so much temperature, and so much pressure, what will be the result... But if you are using it for a different climate, when you have twice as much carbon dioxide, there is no guarantee that that’s right. There is no way to test it.
That's just part of what he has to say on the subject, I'd suggest reading the whole thing. He drives the AGW people up the walls, because they can't claim he's ' not a real scientist'.
So, we now have "Global warming is real, but it's saving people. But it's still terrible, and we need to stop it!" They want their cake AND a replacement.

UN standards for government-run health care:
"Look, you're old and no longer contributing enough, so it's best if you don't get treatment for this. On the other hand, if you want to hurry up on getting out of the way, we will help you suic- ah, euthanize yourself."
Short version: "These people won't follow the consensus, and they actually gather to together to argue it! They should be prosecuted under RICO!"
Seems to be the standard response of the left to disagreement anymore: say things they don't like, they want to jail you. Borrowing from Foley,
First, this man should be voted out of office as soon as human possible. His ignorance is dangerous. Second, the state bar should require him to undergo at least 100 hours of mandatory continuing legal education on the subject of constitutional law, with emphasis on the First Amendment. Newsflash: joining together to discuss common interests and even–gasp!–funding research, white papers and lobbying efforts to advance one’s perspectives on an issue isn’t illegal; its free speech.
Remember Obamas' Surgeon General appointee who hates commoners owning guns? That the Stupid Party said "It's ok, he promised not to use the position to attack gun ownership." ?
Yeah, thanks a lot for letting another dirtbag through, you clowns.
Well, Mr. President, Gen. Mattis(for one) is RETIRED. A condition you wanted. So you don't give him orders anymore, and he can speak his piece whether you like it or not.

History. It messy.
The history tells how some of the Delaware’s ancestors migrated west
to America across a frozen sea and intermarried with the Delaware and
other Algonquin Indians. Myron Paine, 72, and Frode Th. Omdahl, 51, met
on the Internet six years ago when they were each looking for a rare
book, “The Viking and the Red Man,” written by the late Reider T.
Sherwin. Together they found copies of all eight volumes with the same

Using Sherwin as a reference, they found that much of the Algonquin language consists of Old Norse, including Old Norse root words often strung together to make new words that were adopted by Algonquin speakers.
Alternate history story idea: those Norse were told of the place up north with the funny rocks that look kind of like their iron, and they go looking for it...
My, wouldn't that have complicated things?

Like, maybe, pass ANOTHER law?
“It’s scary how many guns are out here now,” said a resident of the
Brownsville project, who gave her name as Ann and her age as 72.
“They shouldn’t just stop and frisk any of our young black men — but they need to do something about these guns,” she said.
You're in Brady Paradise, you mean to tell us that all those anti-gun-ownership laws don't work?
And this would be great, because the police would never abuse such, would they?
As another woman at the Marcus Garvey Houses said of stop-and-frisk, “They need to target it. With all these shootings, people getting killed, do it, but stop and frisk the guys you know from experience might have a gun, and not some kid who’s trying to better his life and get out of here.”
Well, y'know, if people stopped making excuses for the gangbangers, and started actually prosecuting them and locking them up with serious sentences, and Comrade Mayor didn't encourage some if this crap, that might just make a difference.

Whent he police admit "We're not going to help you,
so do something yourself", you know the place is screwed.
Victims of crime are being "encouraged" to investigate offences themselves, an inspection of police forces in England and Wales has found.
HM Inspectorate of Constabulary said criminal damage and car crime were "on the verge of being decriminalised" because forces had "almost given up".
In some cases victims were asked to check for CCTV or fingerprints.
The Association of Chief Police Officers said austerity meant forces had to set priorities.
Mind you, this is in a place were self-defense is damn-near banned, and the commoners have been told for decades now "Do not act yourself, call for help and wait for the Officials to show up."
The inspector who led the review, Roger Baker, said: "It's more a mindset, that we no longer deal with these things. And effectively what's happened is a number of crimes are on the verge of being decriminalised."
'Decriminalized' meaning "We can't/won't be bothered."
Remember Peels' Principles of Policing? Number 7 in particular:
The watchdog added: "HMIC finds this expectation by these forces that the victim should investigate his own crime both surprising and a matter of material concern.
"The police have been given powers and resources to investigate crime by the public, and there should be no expectation on the part of the police that an inversion of that responsibility is acceptable."
Yep. If you accept that responsibility, you either do it or you don't. And if you don't, the public can/should take the responsibility back.
Can you imagine the screaming over that?
Shadow policing minister Jack Dromey said the public would be "extremely alarmed" by the HMIC review.
He said: "This a damning indictment of this government's claims to be cutting crime. In fact, what is being cut are the number of crimes investigated."
And if they 'decriminalize' those things, they'll claim "See, you're safer than you've been before!"
You won't be, but they'll tell you you are. Much like Napolitano & Co. telling us "The border is more secure than it's ever been!"

To maintain at all times a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and that the public are the police, the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent on every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence.and then read this:

The hell they don't want to take your guns
Among the other God-knows-what in this,
The Justice Department’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is looking to revive a rule proposed way back in 1998 that would block domestic abusers from owning guns.
As proposed, the regulation makes it illegal for some who has been convicted of a misdemeanor domestic violence offense to own a gun.
It's ALREADY illegal for someone with such a conviction to own arms; so just how are they planning to 'revive' it? By expanding the definition of 'abuse', probably, so as to screw as many people as possible.
The ATF is also looking to prohibit the mentally ill from owning firearms, which is attracting even more criticism from gun rights groups.
Think of the shit they've been doing to vets with the VAs help, expanded to EVERYBODY.
And you can bet the new AG is right in the middle of this. Which means every Senator who assured us all was fine when they voted for Lynch needs to have their ass kicked for giving her the approval of the Senate.
