It sucks.

While back, neighbor who can't deal with it had some good-sized limbs come down in the ice storm.  So, in better weather, I went over with the puzzle and cut the stuff from 3" up to suitable size, and stacked it.  Planned to get more.

Then the weather went south for a while.  Then I fell on the knee.  Finally the weather was decent, so took the pole saw and the puzzle over, took some damaged limbs down, cut them up and added to the stack

Yesterday friend was finally able to get by and we filled the back of her Explorer.  This morning she made it back and we did it again, which took about 3/4 of what was cut.  Later I went back over and cut up more of the downed stuff, and stacked a bunch of the smaller stuff out of the way.

Not that much actual labor, right?  Tell that to the body; I'm dragging like I'd been chased around a workout track by a maniac with a club all day.

Yes, getting old sucks.  In multiple ways.

Loading wood, chainsawing, etc.,

and I'm skipping the fancy words: female data points.

Considering how hard they worked before to hide

just who was committing most of the rapes, and assaults on police and so forth, how bad is it that they're doing this and admitting why?
The city of Östersund in central Sweden has decided to cancel its participation in Saturday’s Earth Hour because of the increased rape risk when streets are dark.

Earth Hour is an annual event where people turn off electricity for one hour to conserve energy. Östersund usually turns off its street lighting, but has decided to keep it lit due to a spree of sexual assaults.
...
Fourteen cases of sexual assault have been reported in Östersund since January. The attacks are carried out by both young immigrant gangs and lone-wolf perpetrators, according to descriptions from the victims.
Throw in how pissed more and more people are at being called names and threatened when they dare to speak about it.  Must be getting very damned tense.

No, Trump is not big on the 2nd Amendment.  Or stopping illegal immigration.  He just says he is because it plays well.
More recently, while conservatives were fighting the Gang of Eight amnesty bill and Obama’s sanctuary nation policies, Trump donated $6,000 to Kamala Harris, the California attorney general who is, perhaps, one of the most notorious supporters of sanctuary cities in the country. In 2014, his daughter, Ivanka, also cut a $2,000 check to the queen of sanctuary cities. That was after Harris championed the despicable Trust Act, which turned the entire state of California into a sanctuary for illegals.
...
And Trump’s $2,500 donation to then-Mayor Gavin Newsom in 2009 was after he declared the following:
I will not allow any of my department heads or anyone associated with this city to cooperate in any way shape or form with these raids. We are a sanctuary city, make no mistake about it.
And as Chris also notes about Harris:
You know, the most anti-gun attorney general in the country?
The one who is currently conducting door to door gun seizures in California?
And who has Trump's support.  But we can trust him.  Sure.

Well, Click, if this is true then you were incompetent to hold that position in the first place.  Now go away, you vile bitch.

From the asshat who thought Obama would be a great ruler because "I like the crease in his trousers."

Between cutting a bunch of wood yesterday,

helping load a bunch of it today, and it being cold outside, it's time to stay warm and get back to studies

"the violence of well-intentioned governments" can convert "dearth into famine."

Line I hadn't heard before, but it covers the point nicely.  In this case about Ireland.
Far from allowing the market to work, England launched a massive program of government intervention, consisting mainly of building workhouses, most completed just prior to the onset of the Famine.

Earlier, the Irish Poor Inquiry had rejected the workhouse as a solution to poverty. In the report, Archbishop Whately — attacked today for his free-market stand — argued that the solution to poverty is investment and charity, but these "radical" findings were rejected by the English who threw out the report and appointed George Nicholls to write a new one.

The workhouses, an early version of New Deal make-work programs, only made the problem of poverty worse. A system of extensive public works required heavy taxation on the local economy. The English officials directed money away from projects that would increase productivity and agricultural output into useless road building.

Why do more and more people not trust cops?

Because they do crap like this and get away with it.

Why do I say 'get away with it'?
Sonny Jackson, a Denver Police spokesman, said Chief Robert White views each incident case by case "and recommends the discipline he feels is appropriate."
Which is bullshit.  I doubt CO is any different from OK, which would mean accessing state databases for non-LE purposes is a CRIME, not 'slap him on the wrist and say "No, no, bad boy."  And, to add to the fun, if they're accessing federal databases, in particular the Interstate Identification Index, that's a federal crime, also with very specific punishments.  Which it seems Chief White doesn't care about, or people would be getting fired and prosecuted for this.

Something else not to forget about Fast & Furious:

Hundreds of people, including elected officials, law enforcement officers, and even children have been murdered with guns smuggled over the border in Fast and Furious, one of up to ten gun-walking operations being carried out in border states from California to Florida, supplying 20,000 guns to narco-terrorists at precisely the same time that President Barack Obama, former Attorney General Eric Holder, and then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were pushing the infamous 90-Percent Lie in an effort to manufacture an excuse to ban certain firearms.
And NOBODY responsible has been punished.  But we can trust the .gov to police itself, sure.

There was a bill to reform the asset-forfeiture mess(I still think 'Theft Under Color Of Law' is the proper name for it), and Sen. Anthony Sykes refused to let it be heard in the Judiciary Committee; now we know why:
Capitol insiders told Red Dirt Report Sykes refused to hear the civil asset forfeiture bill because he wants to befriend law enforcement officials and collect their support for a run at the state Attorney General’s position in 2018.
Gee, isn't that wonderful?  "Screw people being screwed out of their property, I want to be Attorney General, and the cops using this can help me!"

So he dodges other legislators, and dodges reporters, and tries to hide himself and what he's doing; just the kind of  clown we need as a AG, right?

Anybody surprised the State Department would try to protect their fellow diplomats from being embarrassed by people finding out the crap they're doing?

Connected with ISIS and

illegally in Belgium; this isn't going to help the "Let everybody in!" people at all.

In a preview clip of a Fox News special called “Rising Threats — Shrinking Military,” former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates told Bret Baier that the president went against the advice of the “entire national security team” during the Egyptian coup that ousted the country’s president, Hosni Mubarak, in 2013.
And yet Gates just kept sitting there and taking orders.  Which he's now bitching about.  Apparently giving up that office was just too much for him.

Remember: NONE of the ATF/FBI/DOJ/Others involved in Gunwalker paid any actual price; none fired, none charged.

But the whistleblowers all got screwed.

The EffingBI needs to be told to go screw itself.  Frequently.  Because they lie, and cheat, and give us no reason to trust them, then the Director gripes that he can't understand why we don't want to hand them more authority to abuse.

Speaking of the EffingBI:
New findings by law enforcement officials suggest that an FBI agent on the scene of the fatal shooting of Bundy-affiliated protester LaVoy Finicum during a Jun. 26 felony stop might have fired two shots that were not reported, and agents on the scene might have disposed of bullet casings to cover them up.
Can you say 'lying on official reports'?  Can you say 'tampering with evidence'?  Can you say 'And how many ways does THIS complicate the mess?'

FBI special agent in charge Greg Bretzing announced at a press conference last week, “The question of who fired these shots has not been resolved.” He declined to provide further comment noting that the federal investigation is still underway.
And left to their own devices we'd all be dead and gone before they'd release anything that might tarnish the reputation of the Sacred Bureau.  Because that counts most of all.

Busy. Much.

maybe some yelling and bitching later.

Nothing is EVER free; they just don't want to believe that

Canadians may like to believe they have access to free health care, but a new report squashes those illusions.

An average Canadian family pays $12,000 per year for health care insurance and those costs have nearly doubled in the last decade, according to a Fraser Institute report.
...
Health care insurance costs are also rising 1.6 times faster than the average Canadian income, the report says, leading Barua to have an issue with the system.

“When health care insurance is growing faster than income, it’s an indication you can’t sustain it,” Barua said.
Now if someone could beat that truth into Sanders and Trumps heads(Clinton doesn't give a damn)...

Yes, Obama has named a Supremes nominee;

and yes, he doesn't like the 2nd Amendment.  Anyone surprised?

Yes, if Sanders wins he'll raise taxes.  On EVERYBODY, whether he currently wants to admit it or not.  And the people who can afford it least will get screwed the worst, while he and his followers keep insisting "You'll be happier in the end!"

Next time someone insists "All we need is more money in education!" wrap this around a cluebat and beat them with it.  No amount of money will actually improve schools that are totally screwed, and care more about feelings and esteem than actual teaching.
Researchers at Princeton University compared test results of Americans with their peers in more than 20 advanced economies. The results pointed to an alarming trend, as young workers and students between the ages of 16 and 34 lagged far behind their peers in countries like Japan and Sweden in mathematical understanding and literacy. The report says that the results were even more surprising because millennials “have attained the most years of schooling of any cohort in American history.”
Lots of time in schools means NOTHING if they aren't actually worried about kids LEARNING REAL STUFF.

Young Americans are not only losing ground to their peers overseas. Rising educational attainment in the form of record-breaking college attendance and undergraduate degrees has not led to increased knowledge among adults. Researchers found that current American adults fell short of the literacy of previous generations of Americans.
See above: THE SCHOOLS SUCK.

“The findings also offer a clear caution to anyone who believes that our policies around education should focus primarily on years of schooling or trusts that the conferring of credentials and certificates alone is enough,” it says. “Far too many are graduating high school and completing postsecondary educational programs without receiving adequate skills. If we expect to have a better-educated population and a more competitive workforce, policy makers and other stakeholders will need to shift the conversation from one of educational attainment to one that acknowledges the growing importance of skills and examines these more critically.”
Which will be fought tooth and nail by the people currently in charge, because they don't actually WANT well-educated kids who learn to think; they're not dependent enough, don't take orders well enough.

And if they vote, you KNOW

they'll vote for the "I'll give you free stuff!" candidate.
“You have to look at it from every child’s point of view that was raised in the hood,” said Harris. “You have to understand… how he gonna get his money to have clothes to go to school? You have to look at it from his point-of-view.”
At this point I'd bet the investigation shows he attacked the homeowner, and that's why she shot; but it doesn't matter to the "She didn't have to do that!" clowns; better she be beaten and/or murdered by their little thug than defend herself.

That attitude... "He grew up in the hood, he thinks stealing is how he gets money!"  And that's a big damned failure on your part, you miserable human being.

Speaking of idiots, we have the people who'd rather ignore a matter in the name of PC - DEMAND that it be ignored- than deal with it, no matter what.

Not up to commentary, so tab clearing

Underwater excavations of the ancient city of Corinth have uncovered monumental piers and evidence that the sunken port of Lechaion functioned as a booming trading hub for over a thousand years.

Motivational speaker Eric Thomas made a stop in St. Louis last month. A video of his speech to Vashon High School students going viral after an interruption. Thomas told the students and teachers that is was a symptom of something he only sees when visiting African-American schools.

Environmental Protection Agency officials apparently weren’t willing to “go out on a limb” for Flint, Mich., as it became apparent the city’s water supply had been contaminated with high levels of lead, according to an internal agency memo revealed at a Tuesday congressional hearing.

From Australia, Politically Correct Policing

Some odd things in New Zealand's distant past(I haven't had the time to watch all of it as yet)

This I'll add commentary: treat the prosecutors just like they treat everyone else:  "You lied under oath?  Charges will be filed.  And since you're an officer of the court, and lied in court, disbarment proceeding will begin."

At the moment,

These cover it; possibly more later

"I made a pass at a candidate and got arrested,

aren't I cool?"
No, you're one more leftist asshat who thinks anything you do is good, because Leftist.

And the Director of the EffingBI wonders why people don't trust them...
Yeah, we shouldn't let the NSA and FBI and IRS and all those other scandals and lawbreaking and privacy invasions bother us, just trust the FBI with the keys to your phone!

Driving in Britain,

according to a Brit.

Language warning.  Very.
“There was nothing unintentional about EPA’s actions with regard to breaching the mine,” Utah Republican Rep. Rob Bishop told Department of the Interior (DOI) Secretary Sally Jewell during a hearing in early March. “They fully intended to dig out the plug and breach it.”
...
It’s also unclear why EPA decided to breach a mine they suspected to be pressurized without the proper equipment. Workers failed to bring a pump and a special drain pipe the day the mine was breached.

Isn't this a nice thing to read during a freaking war?
Army Gen. Joseph Votel is expected to take over as the head of U.S. Central Command later this month, and he’ll be leading the military campaign against ISIS at a troubled time for his own organization.

In interviews, half a dozen current and former officials have described the environment at CENTCOM headquarters as “toxic” and “hostile” owing to a long-simmering dispute over whether political influence was brought to bear on intelligence analysts whose job is to objectively assess the strength of ISIS and the effects of the U.S.-led efforts to destroy the group.

Hey, all you good union members with your dues supporting Democrats:

Happy?
The Lightbringer has put Deity-knows-how-many miners out of work, and people who work at coal-fired powerplants, and Hillary is promising to do even more.  And your unions supported them.

It's downright pleasant outside, and this week looks good;

I am not fooled.  This is Oklahoma; I've seen the last of March/first of April downright summery, and damn cold and spitting sleet.  There's usually- not always, but usually- a last freeze between now and early April, which means you have to be ready to cover up some stuff in the garden.  'Cause sometimes that early-spring wind sweeping down the plain starts somewhere in the Arctic.

While some people are frantically checking serial numbers,

and there's probably a few who desperately wish they could cover this up...
Serbia's authorities are investigating reports that a cargo package bound for Portland contained two missiles with explosive warheads on a passenger flight from Lebanon.

N1 television said the package with two guided armor-piercing missiles was discovered Saturday by a sniffer dog after an Air Serbia flight from Beirut landed at a Belgrade airport.

Serbian media say documents listed the final destination for the AGM-114 Hellfire missiles as Portland. The American-made projectiles can be fired from air, sea or ground platforms against multiple targets.
Two Hellfires.  So not only are they wondering where the hell they originated from, and where they SHOULD be, but how long has somebody had them, and how much info did they get from the guidance systems and so forth.

This is Very Not Good.

'Accident' my ass;

this waste of oxygen did it deliberately.
According to state troopers, Zirkle was about five miles downriver from Koyukuk headed for Nulato when her dog sled was first hit on “the side by a snow machine and the snow machine turned around multiple times and came back at her before driving off.”

Those reports said the machine then went on down the river but later returned and approached her again about 12 miles out of Nulato. This time it aimed its headlight at her and revved its engine, but left without incident. Not long after, troopers allege the machine hit King's team from behind, killing the one dog and injuring five others, two seriously.
"I was drinking, accident, didn't know I'd done anything", bullshit.  And of course the family rallies around him after 'this terrible accident'.

Said waste of oxygen is Arnold Demoski.  He'll probably get some jail time; the somewhat more attractive suggestions I've heard included staking him out for the bears or throwing him in the water and not letting him get to any shelter.  Assuming he gets out of the water.

Proving, once again, that there is nothing these idiots cannot try to screw up.  Apparently they've decided sending the FDA SWAT team to raid people for milk causes too much noise and bad publicity, so...
As I've detailed for years, the FDA's proposed FSMA rules would have forced small farmers "to adopt onerous, expensive, and unnecessary farming practices and procedures" that included "tough new regulations for using organic fertilizer," including compost and manure.

Pushback from small farmers and their supporters around the country forced the FDA to reconsider the worst of the proposed FSMA rules. Reconsider the agency did. And now they're back, beating the same drum.
Yes, the FDA is full of shit; doesn't mean the know what the hell they're doing on the subject of manure.

MO is making a change in their SYG law, and the usual suspects are, once again, losing their shit.
Now add to that a “stand your ground” law that says anyone who feels threatened, no matter where he is, can shoot to kill. No longer would he have a legal duty to try to avoid confrontation, much less try to determine if a threat was real. He could shoot first and ask questions later.
What change is causing this?
Yes, the actual law will be expanded to include the ability to defend yourself anywhere as long as you are being a good citizen. Nowhere in the actual law or proposed changes one can find the annulment of other basic tenets to claim self-defense: Innocence, Imminence, Proportionality and Reasonableness. Yet the Editorial Board at the St. Louis Compost-Dispatcher make it sound as if you will be allowed to kill anybody that looks crossed at you because you got the last cold can of soda from the store.

And just how much can you trust this newspaper?
A study at Texas A&M University found that “stand your ground laws” do nothing to promote public safety and increase homicides by 8 percent. The study found that victims are disproportionately African-American.
First, given Missouri’s history with Jim Crow’s laws, specially when applied so Blacks could not be armed, this is just pure hypocrisy. Plus the data from Florida has shown that Blacks are also the biggest beneficiary of SYG. Second, the link they provide does not go to a study by Texas A&M but a paper published by Everytown for Gun Safety, Michael Bloomberg’s pet Gun Control group.
Not at all, it seems.

Obama wants every company to make ways for LE to get into phones and e-mail.  Because Safety! is the excuse, which is bullshit:
U.S. President Barack Obama on Friday made a passionate case for mobile devices to be built in such a way as to allow government to gain access to personal data if needed to prevent a terrorist attack or enforce tax laws.
Standard socialist "You should not be able to have secrets from the State!" crap.

My, how careful they are about their slaves before they rape them...

Speaking of 'full of shit', "We had nothing to do with it, it's all Trump's fault!"

Jerry the Geek reminded me of this crap

the PROM tried to pass a few years ago; same kind of crap pops up again every so often from the control freaks:
This legislation would require ammunition manufacturers to engrave a serial number on “the base of the bullet and the inside of the cartridge casing of each round” of ammunition for popular sporting caliber center-fire rifles, all center-fire pistols, all .22 rimfire rifles and pistols, and all 12 gauge shotguns.

This “Encoded Ammunition” legislation essentially amounts to bullet and cartridge case registration. If enacted, it would mean forfeiture of currently owned ammunition; a separate registration for every box of new ammunition; outrageously expensive ammunition costs for police and private citizens alike; and a waste of taxpayer money that could be better spent on effective police programs.

Remember, when you boil it down this crap is never really about crime or 'effective police programs': it's about control.
