Stolen from all over the place

What? Hold Sheriff Baca's people to the normal standard?

Why, we can't do that!

According to this, they think the meteor that blasted over Russia weighed about 7,000 tons, and blew somewhere between 18-32 miles up.  And did that.

Imagine the same thing with a different angle going off about 5-10 miles up...

Another Only One who thinks the 2nd Amendment refers to a 'belief' that we're allowed arms... bastard.

Speaking of Only Ones, Elson Morales, Joseph Lawlor and Clive Higgins, all 10-year veterans of the Bridgeport Police Department, should all be fired.  And prosecuted. There is NO DAMNED EXCUSE for this kind of crap.

And how's that gun ban working in (fG)Britain?  Not too well:
Mr Rasul came to Britain in 2003 when the Kurds were being persecuted in their native Iraq.
'I thought it would be safe here, but it isn't, it's very dangerous with crime always going on and lots of bad people around,' he said.
'It's more dangerous here than Iraq because at least there, you knew who your enemies are.'

In which I annoy hell out of the birdwatchers again

A couple of years back I put up a post about lions with bad table manners; that, and the others associated, got me more nasty and hate-mail than anything else I've ever written.  Well, the other day I was browsing through Capstick's Maneaters and ran across the section in question.  So I thought I'd stir the pot back up.

The section is about the death of Joy Adamson, and what happened to the story after the initial reports.  What follows is copied from Capstick's book, chapter on lions(pages 32-34 in the hardback):

...My argument with the attitude of people such as the late Mrs. Adamson lies in the unrealistic sentimentalism which has lead tens of thousands of otherwise unexposed people to believe that lions, if not all the great carnivora are, in reality, poor tabbies starved for the godlike gift of human affection.  Would it were so, yet I cannot but believe that, indirectly of course, every kid who has his face torn off by an irate black bear in some American park or each damnfool who has seen BORN FREE and is mauled by a lion who doesn't purr on cue or appreciate the human concept of affection is at least to some degree the fault of Mrs Adamson or Mr. Disney.

I first heard of the death of Joy Adamson from the wire serviced through the Miami Herald of January 5, 1980, which, in part, reported the following:
Author of 'Born Free killed by Kenya lion
                                    From herald Wire Services

Nairobi, Kenya- Joy Adamson, whose Born free awakened millions to her beliefs that "once wildlife is gone, it is gone forever," was mauled to death by a lion, it was reported Friday.
Friends said that Mrs. Adamson, 69, had taken her customary evening stroll Thursday night in the bush outside her tent camp in a remote area of northeast Kenya, and came across a lion chasing a buffalo.
The lion turned and killed her.
She was found by a park employee, lying face down ithe heavy wounds on her hands, arms and head.
"The lion is still at large, but we have tracker teams out looking for it," a police spokesman said.
Her body was found about 1,000 yards from the barbed-wire enclosed compound where she had been conducting experiments in returning tame leopards to the wild.
In 1956 she adopted Elsa, the wild-born heroine of Born Free whose mother had been killed in self-defense by Mrs. Adamson's husband.
Believing, as George Adamson once said, that "the mentality that condines wild animals in lifelong captivity is little removed from the mentality that condoned the slave trade," the two conservationists raised the cub on love and affection while also training her to hunt.
Now, that seemed pretty pat to me. No question at any time of any kind of human foul play, although I commented to several people at the time that it was going to be most embarrassing to the "Else Wild Annimal Appeal" for the world's most famous lion lover to have up and gotten The Big Chop from one of her own sweeties.  And, what of the dozens of other heavy fund-raising organizations who generated millions of cool, green dollars for the sake of all those lovely, soft-eyed endangered cutie-pies?  What would good old Cleveland Amory have to say about such a  turn of events?  Clearly, the death of Joy Adamson at the hands- excuse me, paws- of a lion would not help anybody's fund-raising let alone their projection of the African lion as lying characteristically with lambs on a bed of jonquils.

My, my!  Guess what happened?  Seems that all those tracker teams spooring up the lion that killed Mrs. Adamson must have been mistaken.  Apparently, the mention of a buffalo was all wrong, too!  From an apparently confirmed story of death by lion, the "official" verdict was now that Mrs. Adamson had been murdered by a human since some of her belongings were missing.

You may have noticed that you never heard much more- if anything- about the matter.  That, in itself, is as weird to me as the abrupt change of cause of death.  I wasn't there and accuse nobody of knuckling under to any big money preservationist sentiment-venders simply because it would have raise a few donor eyebrows for the author of BORN FREE, FOREVER FREE, LIVING FREE and the rest of the stuff to have been killed by a lion.  heavens no!  I guess the murder of a famous authoress in the midst of the African bush just wasn't interesting enough for the press to pursue.  Don't you think?

I wound up being called about every kind of animal-hater, liar, murderer of cuteness and whatever else you can think of over that original post.  Including "You American gun nuts just want excuses to kill everything in sight!", etc.

Which all reminded me of something else, and I was able to find it.  Remember Treadwell, the idiot who thought "The Grizzly is My Friend"?  Account by the people involved who found the remains, and met the bears.  From the pilot who first found the scene:
...Pausing to untie, Fulton glances over his shoulder. And behind him is a bear, coming fast and low, eerily silent, 20 feet away. As the pilot leaps to his floats and pushes off, the bear is a body length behind. Fulton scrambles into the cockpit and slams the door. The bear, a big, dark male, skids to a stop at the water's edge, eyes still fixed on him. Huffing, the bear paces the bank as the plane drifts out into the lake. Normally Fulton would have a shotgun in his plane, as per state regulations, but he's left it back in Kodiak.

"I've been charged by a few bears, but this was different," Fulton says. "He wasn't doing that usual bear-of-the-woods thing, acting big and bad. He was crouched down, sneaking on me. That look in his eye was real different too. Right then I felt like he was out to kill me and eat me." Fulton's heart is thumping. Now he knows something isn't right. The Beaver's engine rattles to life, and the bear fades into the alders
.

You can believe all you want to that all the animals are just friends you haven't been introduced to yet, that they will never harm you if you have love in your heart; if you annoy the wrong one, or at the wrong time, you'll get recycled.

Missouri Democrats push for bans and confiscation

Any person who, prior to the effective date of this law, was legally in possession of an assault weapon or large capacity magazine shall have ninety days from such effective date to do any of the following without being subject to prosecution:
(1) Remove the assault weapon or large capacity magazine from the state of Missouri;
(2) Render the assault weapon permanently inoperable; or
(3) Surrender the assault weapon or large capacity magazine to the appropriate law enforcement agency for destruction, subject to specific agency regulations.
5. Unlawful manufacture, import, possession, purchase, sale, or transfer of an assault weapon or a large capacity magazine is a class C felony.
Bastards really like the idea of forcibly taking private property, don't they?

Yeah, I know; possibly something to do with why gas is up so damn high.

Yes, I'm heading for the kitchen; forgot to publish this one last night

On a more earthbound note,

Minnesota Democrats: "I'm not here, I can't hear you!" when information they don't like comes in.  Hope the video is back up soon.

From troops still over in A'stan, The Pirates of Pogadishu:
Due to the recent trip to the provinces, we had to pass through the space/time portal known as Bagram, which has been dubbed by some of those who operate outside the wire but have frequent brushes with it, “Pogadishu.” As many others have noted, it is a world separated from the war by a million miles of cultural and tactical vacuum. A rocket attack on the base in the recent past brought home to the denizens of this burgeoning city of tens of thousands that there is a war on… but on a daily basis you couldn’t tell it from Disney Drive.

You can’t tell from the actions of those running the place, either.
Which reminds me of this:

Hey, Illinois, you elected this bastard.  And all his corrupt friends, and all the other corruption you've tolerated for decades.

This being Sweden, I'm waiting to hear that at least one member of the research team, realizing that he'd gone to school for twenty-plus years only to wind up at the pinnacle of his career standing in a lab getting fish high, went home and locked all the garage doors and left the Volvo running.

No, the founders could NEVER have imagined weapons capable of rapid fire.  Noooo...

How connected was the President while people were dying in Benghazi?  This much.

Damn.  I'd never heard of the Forage War before.

I shall now repair to the kitchen, where a pork shoulder is awaiting a trip to the oven, where it shall reside for the next few hours.

One of the side-effects of all those cameras on the road:

you capture stuff like this:

Just ran across this link at Ace, more video.
And here's a Russian news site with more.

It's late, but

Know those Swiss mg cleaning kits?

Look like this?  Quite nice; steel rod with brass junctions that keep the steel from ever touching the bore, couple of oil/solvent bottles.  I've had one in my range servant for a long time.  One problem: the threads are metric, and don't fit any US cleaning stuff.

Which brings me to my latest(and quickest-finished) project.

Took a piece of 1/4" hexagonal brass rod left from the punch sets I made.  Squared the ends, marked center.  Happily, the Swiss rods used a standard-type thread(M5-.8) so I could find a tap(which uses a #19 drill bit); the 8x32 tap for the jags and brushes I already had.  So here's a rod section, my adapter, and a .45 jag:
Drilled about halfway with each bit, then tapped the holes
And now I can use any standard jag or brush on it
It won't work on anything under .30 caliber(unless you turn down the brass junctions), but for those it'll do the job nicely.

Why don't we trust them again?

Maybe this?
Since assault weapons are not a major contributor to US gun homicide [interesting admission right off the bat] and the existing stock of guns is large, an assault weapon ban is unlikely to have an impact on gun violence. If coupled with a gun buyback and no exemptions [meaning no "grandfather clause"](tranlation: 'Confiscation') then it could be effective.
and
An exemption for previously owned magazines would nearly eliminate any impact. The program would need to be coupled with an extensive buyback(confiscation) of existing large capacity magazines. With an exemption the impact of the restrictions would only be felt when the magazines degrade or when they no longer are compatible with guns in circulation. This would take decades to realize.
and
Finally, "universal background checks" will not help (and will indeed exacerbate the problems of straw purchasing and theft) unless guns are registered. California's rulers love gun registration, because when they later ban the registered firearms, without a "grandfather clause," they know just where to go to confiscate them (earning the state "extra credit" from the Brady Campaign).

Oh Canada, what's going on

up there?

Human Rights Watch once again demonstrates why it has such a sterling reputation.

"Yes, I helped you before, but now you're in the way."

I'm going to put this bluntly: What fucking moron came up with this?
And they wonder why morale is in the toilet.

Disgusting.  Flat disgusting.

Oxnard Union School District superintendent Gabe Soumakian, you're a PC moron.

Sean has a list of companies telling New York to go away

So far his list shows
Now if we can get S&W and SIG and Glock to join in...
And oh, my, he has contact info at the post!

Oh, you have got to read the whole thing!

First they came for the blacks, and I spoke up because it was wrong, even though I'm not black.

Then they came for the gays, and I spoke up, even though I'm not gay.

Then they came for the Muslims, and I spoke up, because it was wrong, even though I'm an atheist.

When they came for illegal aliens, I spoke up, even though I'm a legal immigrant.

Then they came for the pornographers, rebels and dissenters and their speech and flag burning, and I spoke up, because rights are not only for the establishment.

Then they came for the gun owners, and you liberal shitbags threw me under the bus, even though I'd done nothing wrong.  So when they come to put you on the train, you can fucking choke and die.

Sooner or later, some cops kicking doors and shooting dogs in the night

because they have some excuse to do that instead of knock in the daylight and say "We have a warrant" are going to get shot up by some citizen.  And they'll charge him with EVERYTHING and insist "He HAD to know we were police!"  And the citizen's lawyer is going to pull out a list of things like this
Ten armed men stormed into a home early Sunday morning demanding money and drugs.
The home invasion happened at a home in Edinburg around 1:30 a.m.
According to Edinburg Police, the gunmen demanded money and drugs.
An eyewitness told Action 4 News that the suspects were dressed in black shirts that said “S.W.A.T.” on the front.
and ask "And just how were they supposed to KNOW you were the police?"
Especially if it turns out to be another wrong address/wrong person/bullshit 'tip from an informant' raid.

Guys, PLEASE stop this crap.  Use the ninja suits and such for only those situations that actually need it; it'll make things a LOT better all 'round.

"Give me money and when I'm in office I'll take care of you."  This clown should be in jail for soliciting bribes.

I've just had another lesson in the leftist version of Reasoned Discoursetm:
Disagree that Dr. Carson should apologize for speaking his piece, you favor rudeness.
If someone says they think civil war is possible if things continue, that means "You people want a war.  And think shooting people who disagree with you is reasonable."
Point out the error of the previous, and "I see discussion is not welcome.  And since you want a war, I'm scared of you."
Etc.

Some more thoughts on Gutierrez, the Democratcommunist who admits he wants to go after handguns.

Sheila Jackson Lee is a vile, odious, disgusting, race-baiting piece of crap.
'Freed slave' my ass.
And remember, you nasty bitch, it's YOUR party leader Obama who came up with the sequestration you're so unhappy with.

Hey, Vargas, you ARE an illegal alien;

and we're not changing the language or pretending you're not just because you don't like it.

Screw you.

"Don't worry, the police will protect you!"

But don't hold them to that.

Can you say 'abuse of authority'?
I knew you could.
Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley appears to have used his executive power to get the personal emails of citizens with hunting licenses in order to push gun control. The second-term Democrat is using the information in an attempt to divide gun owners to build support for his extremist legislation to abridge Second Amendment rights.

Just a few quotes from the enemy:
"If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them... 'Mr. and Mrs. America, turn 'em all in, I would have done it. I could not do that. The votes weren't here."
U.S. Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA) CBS-TV's "60 Minutes," 2/5/95

"Banning guns is an idea whose time has come."
U.S. Senator Joseph Biden, 11/18/93, Associated Press interview

"Yes, I'm for an outright ban (on handguns)."
Pete Shields, Chairman emeritus, Handgun Control, Inc., during a 60 Minutes
interview.

"We must be able to arrest people before they commit crimes. By registering guns and knowing who has them we can do that. If they have guns they are pretty likely to commit a crime."
Vermont State Senator Mary Ann Carlson

"I am one who believes that as a first step, the United States should move expeditiously to disarm the civilian population, other than police and security officers, of all handguns, pistols, and revolvers... No one should have the right to anonymous ownership or use of a gun."
Professor Dean Morris, Director of Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, stated to the U.S. Congress

"I feel very strongly about it [the Brady Bill]. I think - I also associate myself with the other remarks of the Attorney General. I think it's the beginning. It's not the end of the process by any means."
William J. Clinton, 8/11/93

"The Brady Bill is the minimum step Congress should take...we need much stricter gun control, and eventually should bar the ownership of handguns, except in a few cases."
U.S. Representative William Clay, quoted in the St. Louis Post Dispatch on May 6,
1991.

"I don't believe gun owners have rights."
Sarah Brady, Hearst Newspapers Special Report "Handguns in America", October
1997

Totally unrelated to anything political, Shermlock had a link to this video(probably NSFW a lot of places)

which reminded me of something: ever see The 7 Faces of Dr. Lao?  I think I was about twelve when I saw it, and this scene, well, made an impression

I wasn't sure what it was about Barbara Eden in this, but I liked it.
I still do, for that matter.

If I were going to order an AR, Olympic Arms

would be the company:
Press Release: Olympic Arms, Inc. Announces New York State Sales Policy
...Due the passing of this legislation, Olympic Arms would like to announce that the State of New York, any Law Enforcement Departments, Law Enforcement Officers, First Responders within the State of New York, or any New York State government entity or employee of such an entity - will no longer be served as customers.

In short, Olympic Arms will no longer be doing business with the State of New York or any governmental entity or employee of such governmental entity within the State of New York - henceforth and until such legislation is repealed, and an apology made to the good people of the State of New York and the American people.

If the leaders of the State of New York are willing to limit the right of the free and law abiding citizens of New York to arm themselves as they see fit under the Rights enumerate to all citizens of the United State through the Second Amendment, we feel as though the legislators and government entities within the State of New York should have to abide by the same restrictions.

Oh my, I think I need a drink and my pipe.

Add this to Larue Tactical.  Now if a few more jump on...

And Remington?  Oklahoma would love to have you move here.  Same for some of you other companies still hanging on in places where the politicians want to tax you until they can put you out of business.

The dirtbag in Californicated, after killing another officer,

is dead.
I'm sure someone will check twitter to find out how the racists and leftists are taking the news.

Well, in a twisted way, it makes sense

Icky, but sense.

Couple of other thoughts on DHS buying so much ammo, this including something I hadn't considered: money laundering.
Well, Napolitano is apparently thinking of running for Pres...

Got a comment on the post noting the Marines marching with no bolts in their rifles, what think you?
On the SS "no bolts" thing -- I've seen lots of credible comments that disabled weapons has been the standard for 20 years, but they normally do it by removing the firing pins.

That leads me to believe that the Marines did this, to make it perfectly plain to the world that their weapons were disabled. I think this was a silent protest.

I personally think that the Marines have been in a cold war with the White House since Benghazi (when the White House refused to let them assist), and the sacking of GEN Ham and GEN Mattis are part of this war. I also heard that various staff officer level Marines were going unit to unit prior to the election, "educating" the Marines there on what is an is not a lawful order and how to handle people issuing unlawful orders. I think this thing goes very, very deep
.

And for some of today's crap, the gun bigots are exiting the closet

and telling the truth:
On Friday night’s Rachel Maddow Show, Representative Luis Gutiérrez (D-IL) told guest host Melissa Harris-Perry that the violence in his Chicago district could be cause for lawmakers to take action not only on semi-automatic weapons, but on handguns. Noting (correctly) that nearly 97 percent of Chicago gun murders in 2011 were carried out with handguns, Gutiérrez said,
”It’s clear that we need to look at handguns also.”
Somebody tell that idiot Piers Morgan that the secret is out.  Also note that Chicago BANNED HANDGUNS years back, which was about the time the place really started down the drain; now the bastards are acting like that didn't happen and "We need to do something!"

So, are they actually surprised that this clown uses sock puppets?  Really?

Hey, stop bitching, peasant: King Bloomberg and NYEffing City need more of your money.  So pay up, and no whining about your house being destroyed.

Another case of "But this is OBAMA doing it, so we're fine with it.  Bodies and all."

My contribution:

Back to Chicago, IL, I think this counts as "Stop telling the truth!"
Despite having some of the toughest gun laws in the nation, Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy says the Windy City “does not have strict gun laws.”

“One of the things that I would like to again try to clear up, and I ask you to please stop adopting the rhetoric of the gun advocates,” McCarthy said, addressing the press.

“We are at a state in Canada where they don’t want you using firearms for anything. Ever,” Lilley said. “That’s the push. And as we look at what’s happening in the United States, that’s what’s happening.”

He went on: “So I’ve got a warning to my American friends: Registration will lead to confiscation. And if you don’t believe me, just look at what’s happened here.”

From before the election: You've only got two choices: the clowns in the Pentagon

don't care if troops get to vote(if they did they'd have the ass of whoever's responsible for this crap), or some politicians in uniform don't want a lot of troops to vote.  So which is it General "I'm busy with ROE that gets our troops killed" Dempsey?

You might remember a movie a few years back called The Path to 9/11, which was edited and otherwise suppressed because of pressure from the "How dare you tell this truth about us!" Clintons.  Ran across the unedited original scene in one of the "We could have had bin Laden back then" situations; it's... enraging, so say the least.

My first thought was "Who the hell is Piers Morgan?"

Then I remembered this:
And now,
He uses all of the classic anti-gun tactics:
proof by vigorous assertion
lies, gets caught lying, repeats the lie
talking over his opponent
Gets question answered, asks again only with more dickery and shut up!

Chief Cathy L. Lanier of DCPD doesn't believe in equal justice:

journalists and other important people deserve nicer treatment than us peasants.

Quotes of the day

and some associated thoughts.

First, from this guy,
In a sane nation, "Contempt of Congress" would not be a crime. It would be a Pulitzer Prize category.
I've had a dream: being called to testify in front of Congress, being threatened with 'Congress, contempt of', and informing the arrogant little bag of tainted excrement "That's not even in question, how could I NOT be in contempt of a corrupt bastard like you?"

Second, found at Kevin's, which also reminded me I hadn't looked at Rachel's place in a few days:
Thank God our heroic president spent more than three million dollars of our money to heroically help our heroic Congress heroically do exactly shit-all.
Connected: the farging assholes just voted- with a few "I can't do it" standouts- to put that miserable bastard Boehner back in as Speaker of the House.  Which brings us back to 'contempt of Congress'.

From over here:
Protip: If you’re a police officer, and you’re told a person with a gun is inside a residence, and no hot pursuit is involved, you need to get a search warrant before, you know, searching! Damn that pesky Constitution!
Which is one of the things that would go away if farging idiots like Kaul and this despicable asshole Seidman had their way of getting rid of that troublesome Constitution.

*Originally it was Swimmer Kennedy; now the list of possibles starts with Schumer and goes on from there.

It appears attempted murder is a funny story

when the right sex does it.
From the linked story at Huffpo: Dobol initially got away, but her dreams of escape went up in smoke when she was arrested last week on an outstanding warrant and was subsequently charged with arson and burglary.
If a man had done this, there'd be domestic violence charges, and attempted murder, and anything else they could tack on.

Your vote: is the Secret Service actually this level of asshole,

or did they get orders from above?
David Codrea has revealed that President Obama has so little regard for the United States Marines risking their lives under his command life that they were forced to dismantle their already empty parade rifles for his second inauguration parade. This is nothing less than a slap in the face of the Corps:
Well, we already knew he holds the military in contempt, much like Bill Clinton.  Except when he needs them for window-dressing; THEN he's all smiles.

You may have heard about the latest FBI-assisted almost-bombing.  Two things:
He planned to carry out the false flag attack and make it appear as if “the responsible party was an umbrella organization for a loose collection of anti-government militias and their sympathizers.”(and the major media would've done all they could to help)
“Llaneza’s stated goal was to trigger a governmental crackdown, which he expected would trigger a right-wing counter-response against the government followed by, he hoped, civil war,” the FBI release states.
Second, my recurring nightmare: one of these clowns is going to play the FBI and put a real bomb in the middle of a building, or crowd.

Among the comments at Tam's on a really pretty thing: "If you open the breech and put your ear to it you can hear the Sioux screaming as they ride up the hill."

If I open the breach of my Trapdoor carbine and put my ear to it, I can hear cavalrymen saying "Oh shit".

Followed by
 Odd.....
Whenever I put an ear to any of my guns all I hear are squeaky little voices saying "feed me."

More theft under color of law.

The latest on excuse-making for shooting two innocent people:
As the vehicle approached the house, officers opened fire, unloading a barrage of bullets into the back of the truck. When the shooting stopped, they quickly realized their mistake. The truck was not a Nissan Titan, but a Toyota Tacoma. The color wasn’t gray, but aqua blue. And it wasn’t Dorner inside the truck, but a woman and her mother delivering copies of the Los Angeles Times. …

Glen T. Jonas, the attorney representing the women, said the police officers gave “no commands, no instructions and no opportunity to surrender” before opening fire.

[LAPD Chief Charlie ] Beck said it was not difficult to imagine how officers who were already on edge could make the mistake these officers did.
I will now devolve to bad language:
What the FUCK do you mean 'not difficult to imagine'?  Are you a lawman or just a fucking politician making excuses?  Do you expect us to ignore that part about The truck was not a Nissan Titan, but a Toyota Tacoma. The color wasn’t gray, but aqua blue. And it wasn’t Dorner inside the truck, but a woman and her mother delivering copies of the Los Angeles Times. … ?
Why the hell aren't you telling us these officers are being prepared for firing?  And facing charges?  It's the grace of Deity that those two women weren't crippled or killed, and YOU MAKE EXCUSES?
Lest you think I'm being a bit hard on this, here's what these idiots with badges did:
So: they shot up the WRONG KIND OF VEHICLE and two people NOT RESEMBLING THE SUSPECT, apparently spraying bullets all over the fucking place...  And, let it be noted, they can't even claim any base level of marksmanship.  Yeah, it's a good thing in this case these bastards can't shoot, because otherwise the women would be dead.  Of course, if they could EFFING SHOOT, they just might have had the self-control to NOT SHOOT UP TWO INNOCENT PEOPLE.

Beck, you suck.

Why do we not trust background check demands?
...There ARE ways to conduct background checks WITHOUT the record-keeping.  We showed them that in Olympia twice in the past decade.  They rejected it, and admitted that what they wanted was the “audit trail” — the paperwork.
Plus some history on how DoJ, EffingBI and others have already misused NICS records.  And- surprisingly!- nobody went to jail for the breakage of law.  Or any other punishment.

David Kaul apparently doesn't like people telling him what they think

of his 'satire'.
Aw, the poor little gun bigot doesn't like it when people react to being called terrorists, and Kaul's wish to torture people to death for not agreeing with him.

Yeah, about those low crime rates in Japan:
Police discourage autopsies that might reveal a higher homicide rate in their jurisdiction, and pressure doctors to attribute unnatural deaths to health reasons, usually heart failure, the group alleges. Odds are, it says, that people are getting away with murder in Japan, a country that officially claims one of the lowest per capita homicide rates in the world.

"You can commit a perfect murder in Japan because the body is not likely to be examined," says Hiromasa Saikawa, a former member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police security and intelligence division. He says senior police officers are "obsessed with statistics because that's how you get promotions," and strive to reduce the number of criminal cases as much as possible to keep their almost perfect solution rate.
Knew a guy some years back who'd spent a lot of time in Japan; he said that a lot of crime doesn't get 'officially' reported because it was gang-on-gang, and as long as it didn't spill over into the honest-citizen population, the authorities didn't care and didn't want to know about it.  Looks like that attitude has spread to a lot more than gang crime.

Seems Obama wants to make sure people with guns are protecting HIS precious ass until the day he dies.  And his wife & kids, as well.

Yet another portrait in political integrity from Ray Nagin

Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin was indicted Friday on charges that he used his office for personal gain, accepting payoffs, free trips, and gratuities from contractors while the city was struggling to recover from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
Too bad they can't indict him for violation of oath of office, and theft of private property. Or under the circumstances, would it be armed robbery?

In case you had any doubts what the clowns in New Effng York actually wanted,
The full list of proposals can be read below:
1. Confiscation of "assault weapons"
2. Confiscation o ten round clips
3. Statewide database for ALL Guns
4. Continue to allow pistol permit holder's information to be replaced to the public

Gee, a socialist preacher who loves Obama thinks the right to arms, the NRA and armed self-defense are offenses to God; big surprise, right?
Oh, reverend?  The reason those wounded, crippled and murdered black & brown kids in Chicago don't get as much attention as the kids in Newtown is because your suckass media and politicians don't really want to talk about them: if they do, it'll bring up that the gun laws in Chicago are what you want them to be nationwide, and they don't work.

On the wishful thinking of socialists that 'the tea party is going away':
Because NOTHING says irrelevance like getting elected.

I suppose women like Tam don't count; or maybe

it's like Palin and they're 'not really women' if they can actually use a AR15...
PIERS MORGAN: I have an interview coming up with two young women who wrote a piece in which they said they wanted the rights of the AR-15 weapon at home because they feared they would be attacked and they wanted a gun that would guarantee they would murder or would kill their attacker. How do you respond to that particular argument, which is they believe under their second amendment right they should be allowed an AR-15? CAROLYN MCCARTHY: I will tell you, if you talk to professionals, hunters and certainly sportsmen, they’ll tell you that’s not the gun to use. A rifle is more accurate. It’s certainly easier for a woman to be able to do that.
You just can't make this stuff up, folks. I mean, we all know an AR-15 isn't an "assault rifle" within the real meaning of the term. Now super-genius Carolyn McCarthy does us one better and says it's not even a rifle?
Good to know.
Or it could simply be that these people are full of shit and ignorance.
I know which way I'd bet.
Also, note the they would murder or would kill their attacker crap.

I wonder what thoughts are running through Howler Cuomo's mind right about now?

So, is Glock trying to bribe the crocodile?  Or just being idiots?

Oh, this is wonderful!  Comment at a Bob Owens post:
We Canadians messed with the registration scheme to no end, we registered fictitious items, including soldering irons, glue gun, water pistols, one enterprising fellow even registered his Jack Russell Terrier. Another thing we did, was bomb the system with hundreds of thousands phoning, e-mailing etc at the same time. The on-line system was hacked over 350 times with public access points of entry. In the end, less than 30% of the Canadian long guns ever made it into the database.. However the dog did..

Put the commanders up in front of a committee, under oath, and ask "Why are you violating federal law?"

Gee, peace officers who actually believe in that oath they took; this has to be annoying hell out of all the right people.

Hey, when you want to be reelected, who cares if you use resources to buy support?  Right?

Sondra lost Rumsfeld, after a nasty illness; man, that sucks.

Remember, when Feinstein and Brock and Schumer and other

gun bigots announce 'Concealed carry/standard magazines/etc are bad!', you always have to append "-unless WE'RE doing it!"

My, that would be a party,

wouldn't it?
This is a standing invitation to my fellow Americans: If congress ever enacts a law mandating the registration and/or a production ban of detachable magazine semiautomatic rifles then you are hereby invited to the town square of your local community. There, burn barrels will be set up and we will publicly burn Form 4473s, FFL Bound Books, state and local registration records, and the sales receipts for every firearm in the United States. On that same day, FFL holders and public officials holding electronic firearms records will simultaneously erase those records, permanently and irretrievably. (Using special file erasure software such as Blancco, X-Ways, and Stellar Wipe, or though the physical destruction of disk drives.)
The rest is here.

Attention guys: this is NOT the way to look professional

Or competent.
Two women who were shot by Los Angeles police in Torrance early Thursday during a massive manhunt for an ex-LAPD officer were delivering newspapers, sources said.
...
A second shooting, involving Torrance police officers, occurred about 5:45 a.m. at Flagler Lane and Beryl Street in Torrance. No injuries were reported in that incident.
Chase said that in both instances police came across vehicles they thought were similar to the one Dorner is believed to be driving. Neither vehicle was Dorner's.
"Now it appears neither of them are directly related," Chase said. "In both of them, officers believed they were at the time."
Well, they were wrong. Bigtime.
And yeah, An armed civilian who made this mistake would be tried for every possible crime a prosecutor could imagine. How likely do you think that is here?

And, just to make this even more bloody fun, the piece of walking crap has fans. Lots of them. Guess which politics they seem to be from?

I've discovered that, due to running in circles, there's a number of posts I started and forgot to post; so there'll be a string of stuff put up this morning.

Some big problems with the coppers across the pond, too

It appears that if they still teach John Peel's Principles, they don't believe in them.

Does arrogant and stupid run in the Biden family?

or are they all wannabe tyrants?
This time it is Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, son of Vice President Joe Biden, sending out mandates to commissioners informing them that their sheriffs no longer have arrest powers. In an opinion released Feb. 24, State Solicitor L.W. Lewis said that neither the state nor the common law grants arrest powers to the county sheriffs.

Every answer I can think of to 'Why?' involves grabbing power and- with the current situation- trying to keep sheriffs in Delaware from following the line of a lot of others: "Try to enforce unconstitutional laws and we'll arrest you."

(yeah, this is from a short time ago, somehow I forgot to post it.

Couple of days ago noticed a rather unpleasant sound

coming from the crank region(shut up; you know who you are) of the BICYCLE. And starting feeling a 'tic' when put a lot of pressure on the pedals.  Not good.  This was a bicycle I'd been given a while back, so hadn't really done anything to it other than move the handlebars and such from the other to it(this being the New Model OKCPV), so maintenance was called for.

Yeah, I should've checked this before I used it.

Pulling one pedal required use of a punch to drive it off the shaft, then loosen the outer nut, then the inner so could move the crank to get to the bearings, and lo!, the damn things are dry.  Not 'a trace left' but DRY of any lubricant.  Happily I have a tube of grease in the garage, and popsicle sticks, so got both thoroughly greased and buttoned it back up; MUCH quieter and smoother.

Oddly, the wheel bearings were greased; why them and not the crank, I don't know.

Yeah, rides a lot more smoothly now.  I should have remembered that when I checked on the previous ride, its crank AND wheel bearings showed no trace of grease(and it was new), and checked this one before rode it.

And while we're being told WE can't be trusted with arms,

“We’re the federal government,” Mountain Pure’s comptroller, Jerry Miller, says one pistol-packing fed told him. “We can do what we want, when we want, and there’s nothing you can do about it.”
and
However — as my old friend and fellow columnist Quin Hillyer notes — armed officers, if not Special Weapons and Tactics crews, populate these federal agencies: the National Park Service; the Postal Inspection Service; the Departments of Health and Human Services, Agriculture, Labor, and Veterans Affairs; the Bureaus of Land Management and Indian Affairs; the Environmental Protection Agency; and the Fish and Wildlife Service. Even Small Business Administration and Railroad Retirement Board staffers pack heat!

These “ninja bureaucrats,” as Hillyer calls them, run rampant. They, and often their local-government counterparts, deploy weapons against harmless, frequently innocent, Americans who typically are accused of non-violent civil or administrative violations.
AND the misuse of SWAT teams, AND the "We're Easy Company assaulting the enemy!" mindset of too many badge-carriers nowadays.  And so on.

Ammo recall from Winchester

on some 5.56 ammo.

Well, they're willing to cover for Obama and Biden on everything else...

“To be very blunt with you, we’re counting on all of you, the legitimate news media to cover these discussions because the truth is that times have changed,” Biden added, warning that people would continue to “misrepresent” the White House's plans for gun control.
Kind of hard to misrepresent "This and this and that should all be banned", clown.

And you'll notice the 'only the media that says what we want is legitimate' crap.

Some interesting information and analysis

on the bad guy in the Californicated mess.

Assuming he's actually in the hills trying not to dehydrate and freeze, this probably won't last long.  I doubt he has any real hunting/survival in the cold skills, and without those and the gear, you're going to run down fast.

Yes, it's possible he stashed/stole a vehicle and is somewhere else, or had some cold-weather gear and food with him; if so, it's the only real pre-planning he did, from what I can tell.

Oh, Tingles, you let the cat out of that bag!

Anyhow, near the end of the show came this gasper...
Guest: "Americans overwhelmingly support drone strikes..."
Chris Matthews: "...and Liberals do, too!"

Hand-to-God, he really did. To riff off that would be to gild the lily
.
Yes, it would.

Yes, I did read where this crap started under Bush; but I thought The Lightbringer Obama was supposed to save us from the Evil Bush policies?
And since when can some fed agency decide one of the basic enumerated rights doesn't apply somewhere in this country?

More on idiots supporting the clown making LAPD look like incompetents.

Article about Obama screwing his young supporters(as if that's new); one interesting bit:
...while the elderly (saved by Sarah "Death Panels" Palin from any serious attempt to ration expensive and often futile end-of-life care) consume far more than they pay in.
A: They couldn't be 'saved' from something that didn't/doesn't exist, and
B: They're admitting "We don't want to pay to keep old people alive, rationing is needed so they don't cost too much!"

More on what all Obama and Clinton were doing in Libya and other areas; seems like they were lying about a BUNCH of things(like that's new).

Yes, it IS too much to hope for; Obama would have to have a sense of shame to be ashamed.

More on how Obama's drone policy attacks due process.

Larue Tactical has followed Ronnie Barrett's lead; be nice if more companies did.

Oh, I like it!
Think about it--would anyone be talking about more gun control right now if the officials directly responsible for the "gun free zone" at Sandy Hook Elementary could be sued for damages due to the fact that they forced teachers to remain disarmed then failed to protect those innocent lives?

The things that come to mind when you're tired (updated)

Such as a (slightly modified)line from a book to the LAPD:
They shoot as the wild sheep defecate; wildly, and at random

I think I'll spread that 'round to some people before I pass out.

Added:

This crap is officially over the line from 'overzealous' to 'incompetent,

trigger-happy and stupid'.
David Perdue was on his way to sneak in some surfing before work Thursday morning when police flagged him down. They asked who he was and where he was headed, then sent him on his way.

Seconds later, Perdue's attorney said, a Torrance police cruiser slammed into his pickup and officers opened fire; none of the bullets struck Perdue.

His pickup, police later explained, matched the description of the one belonging to Christopher Jordan Dorner — the ex-cop who has evaded authorities after allegedly killing three and wounding two more. But the pickups were different makes and colors. And Perdue looks nothing like Dorner: He's several inches shorter and about a hundred pounds lighter. And Perdue is white; Dorner is black.

And the official excuse is just wonderful:
"The circumstances of the incident known to the responding officers would have led a reasonable officer under normal circumstances — and these were far from normal circumstances — to believe that fellow officers were being shot at and that the vehicle traveling toward them posed a serious risk.
"In the split seconds available to them," the statement continued, "action was appropriate to intervene and stop the actions of the driver of that vehicle."
You know, the vehicle of the WRONG make and WRONG color driven by a male of the WRONG color who'd JUST BEEN TALKED TO BY OTHER COPS...

It's actually kind of amazing, isn't it?  Three people alive solely by either the grace of Deity or the lousy shooting of LAPD(or both), NONE of them or their vehicles matching the description and it's still "Any reasonable officer would have done the same."
Do they not realize just how much that kind of crap damages their reputation and image?  Or are they so tied into "Deny wrongdoing no matter what" that they don't care?

As Insty says, if a private citizen did this kind of crap these same people would be working to hang them.
