Not as cold as last night, but

still nice to be inside checking new data

The dick running Dick's ought to be sued by stockholders

for deliberately damaging their investments.
The CEO of Dick's Sporting Goods told CBS News this weekend that his decisions to stop selling certain guns and hire lobbyists to push for new gun bans have cost his company roughly $250 million.
...
That is consistent with Stack's previous statements on the losses associated with his decision. In the company's 2018 annual report, he wrote that gun sales were a "sizeable part" of Dick's business and that his push for the company to support new gun control laws significantly hurt that business. However, this did not make him reconsider his decision to use company resources to lobby for gun control and to remove certain guns from stores.
"Screw your investments, I have virtue to signal and social engineering to pursue!"

"Racism is bad!

Except when we're doing it!"

From the same asshats who thought it was better to hire illegal aliens than vets.

Damn, it turned a bit cold out there,

making for good conditions to stay in and study

If this is correct, the murderer in Halle, Germany used homemade weapons

Firearms and ammo both.
Looks like all those Bloomberg and Watts-approved anti-gun laws didn't stop him, for some reason.

"...when Charles Martel and his “northern men of robust limbs and iron hands stood like an unmovable wall of ice and cut the Arabs to pieces,”

The Battle of Tours.  Where, I once read, Charles Martel got the name Charles the Hammer.

A critical battle, as much so as the two Sieges of Vienna and the defeat of the Ottomans there.

When I mentioned that .300 Blackout load,

I was referred(thanks Mel) to the Hornady Ballistic Calculator and I've been playing with it.  By what the book says about velocity with that charge, and the ballistic coefficient of the bullet*, looks like at 150 yards it would be 3.2" high, at 250 6.2" low.

Wonderful what tools we have to play with nowadays.

* can't remember if he was using the 110 grain Varmint or V-max bullet

Good grief, Piers Morgan is making sense again

When Morgan then asked her if she had a T.V. at her home and if her children use computers, Rathor said she did not think it was relevant to "the planet emergency."

“Do you see the problem with all this? You go on about ‘My kids can’t get out of bed because they’re all so terrified,’ I’m not surprised they're terrified because your mum’s telling them everyday the planet’s about to end, and yet, I bet your own carbon footprint, for all the stuff I’ve just mentioned is terrible," Morgan said.
Her defense?
Rathor said the problem is not about individual carbon footprints, but it is a "system-wide issue" and said she would not be able to "raise the alarm" about the issue if she did not participate in the system.
Translation: "It's like di Caprio and the superyachts, and the Prince and all those private flights, we HAVE TO!"

The prosecution rests.

"What do I say after a shooting?"

Good piece.  Includes
Most people err in providing TOO MUCH information to the police.  That’s why there are so many experts instructing armed citizens to “say nothing” to responding police officers.  Saying nothing is BETTER than saying too much but it may not be the BEST course of action.

I think Massad Ayoob provides the best advice here.  In his work as a police officer, prosecutor, and expert witness, he has seen it all and knows what works.  His suggestions in The Armed Citizens Legal Network Journal are as follows:

Massad Ayoob’s Five-Point Checklist
1.     Tell responding officers “I’m the victim; he is the perpetrator.”
2.     Tell responding officers, “I will sign a complaint.”
3.     Point out pertinent evidence.
4.     Point out any witnesses who saw what happened.
5.     If there is any hint that you are a suspect, say “Officer, you will have my full cooperation after I have counsel here.

Watched some shots with .300 Blackout the other day

using 110-grain Hornady bullets over 19.0 W296.  He was zeroed 2.5" high at 100, and that put them dead-on at 200.  So for various purposes should need no compensation out to, I'd guess 250.  Probably have dropped a fair bit at 300.

I was trying some black powder loads in .45-70, but light was such I had problems at 200.  I'd really like to figure a way to mount a scope on the thing for load testing without drilling and tapping holes.

Hockey-stick Mann is going to lose his ass

I linked to this before, there are updates at the end, including(from Technology.News)
Penn State climate scientist, Michael 'hockey stick' Mann commits contempt of court in the 'climate science trial of the century.' Prominent alarmist shockingly defies judge and refuses to surrender data for open court examination. Only possible outcome: Mann's humiliation, defeat and likely criminal investigation in the U.S.
...
Michael Mann, who chose to file what many consider to be a cynical SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation) libel suit in the British Columbia Supreme Court, Vancouver six long years ago, has astonished legal experts by refusing to comply with the court direction to hand over all his disputed graph's data. Mann's iconic hockey stick has been relied upon by the UN's IPCC and western governments as crucial evidence for the science of 'man-made global warming.' (snip) The negative and unresponsive actions of Dr Mann and his lawyer, Roger McConchie, are expected to infuriate the judge and be the signal for the collapse of Mann's multi-million dollar libel suit against Dr Ball. It will be music to the ears of so-called 'climate deniers' like President Donald Trump and his EPA Chief, Scott Pruitt.

Mann's been trying to spin this as no big deal; he's lying.

Kamala Harris: "Let's have a discussion(aside: 'shut that bitch up')"

Considering her prosecutor and AG record, anyone really surprised?
Harris appeared willing to hear Slone out until she heard the term "ERPOs."

"Mrs. Harris, I'm a domestic violence survivor and I'd like to talk to you about ERPOs," Slone said in the video. Harris nodded in agreement

"Okay. Let's have that chat," Slone said with a smile as she waited.

At that point, two of Harris' staffers physically blocked Slone from getting closer to ask her questions or engage with Harris any further.
Hey, you can't have some troublesome bitch commoner causing problems for Her (party-proclaimed) Grace, can you?

"It's registration, but

we won't call it that(or admit to it), so you don't have to worry."
Murphy is a lying bastard.
