Yeah, this is another reason to think that trusting any .gov agency
is either idiotic or insane.
A legacy of mismanagement, budget overruns, and slipping deadlines means that satellites in both programs may well fail before their replacements are launched and become fully functional.
...
"The ability to make timely and accurate weather forecasts should be a top priority for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)," said Smith. "Unfortunately our next generation weather satellites have been plagued by problems, including dysfunctional management, delays and cost overruns. As a result, gaps in our domestic weather data could jeopardize our forecasting capabilities, putting American lives and property at risk."
Isn't that just a freaking JOYOUS thing to read?
Add in this:
Concerns above NOAA computer security are not new. In July 2014, The Department of Commerce Office of Inspector General (OIG) issued a report that outlined significant security deficiencies in the NOAA networks, urging officials to make system updates a top priority. In October, several NOAA networks were hacked by an outside source. NOAA will not comment publicly on who might have been behind the hack (or why they covered it up for a month), but former Representative Frank Wolf (R-VA) says he was told by officials in the Department of Commerce that China was responsible.
Michael Wessel, a Commissioner on the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission, agrees, saying that it presents significant problems to national security. "The services and data provided by NOAA can be critical to our warfighters in a potential conflict not only for basic weather-related information but also because NOAA jointly operates the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program (DMSP), which provides cloud cover imagery that is utilized by the Air Force."
Well, I can answer the one: they knew what a monumental fuckup it was, and didn't want to have to deal with the consequences. Very adult decision, right?
Just think about it: the PRC gets frisky in the Pacific, and the weather data suddenly becomes somewhere between 'unreliable' and 'non-existent'. Nightmare fuel. And the sunsabitches are STILL playing 'decline to comment' games.

In light of the article about the 'honor brigades',
Figured I'd post all the Mohammed stuff I'd found
If you've got some others, pass them along and I'll add them.
And if the Pope doesn't like it, well, that's too damn bad.
If you've got some others, pass them along and I'll add them.
And if the Pope doesn't like it, well, that's too damn bad.
Yeah, this kind of thing doesn't help the image of a faith
Alongside the honor brigade’s official channel, a community of self-styled blasphemy police — from anonymous blogs such as LoonWatch.com and Ikhras.com to a large and disparate cast of social-media activists — arose and began trying to control the debate on Islam. This wider corps throws the label of “Islamophobe” on pundits, journalists and others who dare to talk about extremist ideology in the religion. Their targets are as large as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and as small as me.
The official and unofficial channels work in tandem, harassing, threatening and battling introspective Muslims and non-Muslims everywhere. They bank on an important truth: Islam, as practiced from Malaysia to Morocco, is a shame-based, patriarchal culture that values honor and face-saving from the family to the public square. Which is why the bullying often works to silence critics of Islamic extremism.
More needed like Ms. Nomani, who call this out.
What? There would be actual CONSEQUENCES to forcing companies to provide paid leave? Wow.
Well, most of the media sure won't call the Evil Party out on it.
They only do that on Stupid Party members.
On November 23, 2014, I posted: "Pedophiles for Democrats," which pointed out that Terrence Patrick "Terry" Bean, 66, a rich fund-raiser for Barack Obama and other Democrats faced charges of raping a teenage boy, and the case of Jeffrey Epstein, a close friend of Bill Clinton, who attended parties hosted by Epstein on Epstein's island hosted orgies that included underage girls.
The American news media yawned. Terry Bean is a co-founder of gay rights groups, not a retired linebacking coach for Penn State. While Jerry Sandusky's pederasty was international news, Terry Bean's was not.
Ah, the politics of "Which group of minority people do you listen to?"
There are, you see, dueling racial angles. The 17-year old Morrissey “corrupted” is African-American. This leads some African-American delegates to insist that Morrissey cannot be permitted to sit in the legislature. White “master” preying on black subordinate, and all that.
But wait! Morrissey’s constituents are predominantly African-American. Thus, some contend it would be “paternalistic” for mostly white legislators to deny these folks the representative of their choice. Disenfranchisement of blacks, and all that.
Cornel West, call your office.
Y'know, if this had been a Stupid Party member who'd been screwing a 17-year-old girl...
Well, yeah, the open terrorists and groups like Mommies Want both share the objective of the commoners being disarmed.
Yes, still feel like crap, though apparently no fever today. Dammit, I'd been planning on going to the Dallas Safari Club show today, but between this and the chance of infecting others, that didn't happen.

I admit it's a good step by Holder, but his motivations
I very much doubt include ethics; if they did, he could've should've done this* years ago.
Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. on Friday barred local and state police from using federal law to seize cash, cars and other property without evidence that a crime occurred.
Holder’s action represents the most sweeping check on police power to confiscate personal property since the seizures began three decades ago as part of the war on drugs.
So why now? Probably one of or both of these:
1: he's leaving office, and figures his rep could use some(well, a LOT of) polishing, and
2: The policy will touch policing and local budgets in every state. Since 2001, about 7,600 of the nation’s 18,000 police departments and task forces have participated in Equitable Sharing. For hundreds of police departments and sheriff’s offices, the seizure proceeds accounted for 20 percent or more of their annual budgets in recent years.
The action comes at a time when police are already angry about remarks that Holder and President Obama made after the controversial police killings of unarmed black men in Ferguson, Mo., and New York City. Some have accused them of being “anti-cop.”
Nice twofer, isn't it? He can paint himself as 'protecting civil rights and overreach by LE' and at the same time whack at the budget of agencies.
Mind you, if the bastards hadn't been abusing this in the first place, actually planning parts of their budgets based on it, they wouldn't have to worry about this.
Yes, I still feel like crap; thanks for asking.
*This, and Fast & Furious, and the IRS, and the list goes on

It's a start; the EUnuchs must be having fits, but it is
One of Europe’s most prominent Jewish organizations is petitioning
the European Union to pass new legislation that would permit Jewish community members to carry guns “for the essential protection of their communities,” according to a letter obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.
The European Jewish Association (EJA), which represents Jewish communities across Europe, says that gun license laws must be altered following a string of deadly attacks on Jews in France and other European countries, where anti-Semitism has been growing at an alarming rate.
The response will probably be something along the lines of "What? Allow the commoners to defend themselves? Rediculous!" They'll word it as more of a 'For Public Safety, we cannot allow this', I'd imagine.
Have to disagree with this:
Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, said that while guns could help Jews defend themselves against an individual attack, only authorities can protect them against a mass attack like those carried out in France.
“As to personally being armed, such a move could help when a Jewish person is threatened by thugs, but won’t help if G-d forbid, Charlie-type terror attacks are launched,” Cooper said.
I'd imagine things would've been a bit different had one or two of the people in that market been armed, Rabbi.

And the media who still refuse to dig up things in Obamas' past
are already after Cruz. 'Impartial media' my ass.
Commenter pointed out something I hadn't thought to try: using the X-Treme 7.62 bullets in .303 British; I need to load up a few.
The Obama/Holder 'Justice' Department at work.
Serious action needed by Congress: nail the bastards at the agencies doing this.

The socialist is very butthurt that so many people- mostly Americans, apparently-
told her to kiss our ass. In no uncertain terms.
So, of course, she has a followup on just how we suck. And will eventually be forced to- well, I'll let her words tell it, and why I say these people are one of the reasons for the 2nd Amendment:
...But the people responding to my column with anger do not seem to understand what freedom of speech is. They seem to make no distinction between free speech and hate speech, and they seem to believe that freedom of speech includes the freedom to say anything.
...
... Human rights activists – including the United Nations and human rights groups all over the world – not only believe that hate speech should be outlawed, but that so should cultural appropriation and other forms of speech which violate basic human rights (in the case of cultural appropriation, the right of cultures to retain ownership of their culture and to ensure that their culture is not misused).
So, if some mid-eastern(current or descent) type gets all butthurt that white women are bellydancing(yes, they're out there), said women are guilty of 'hate speech'. Wonderful, isn't it?
Lot of this is the same "This is how you will be allowed to think and speak, and you will call it 'free'" crap from her first piece. PC-at-any-cost idiocy. And then you get to the "How shall we do this?" which is why I mentioned the 2nd Amendment:
All of the policies that I proposed in my article are already policies in the rest of the world, particularly in liberal democracies. For example, the policy regarding setting up state surveillance and re-education centers has indeed been proposed by human rights activists in Europe and can be read here (PDF). The fact that these proposals are considered to be so extreme and so outrageous to an American audience is a perfect indication of how America is a country without any kind of human rights-based culture whatsoever.
My, how very Soviet of them. And if you have a problem with your speech being monitored for non-PC content, or continue to insist that it's not hate speech just because someone is upset, I'm sure that will be proof of your mental illness, which they will proceed to treat. By force.
See what I mean? If this isn't one of the things to be defended against, what is?

More Obama executive orders, for 'gun safety'
Because so many gangbangers want a Garand or M1 Carbine. Yeah. Right.
This is utter bullshit. But he knows Congress probably won't do anything about it, so he doesn't care.
No, women aren't the only victims of domestic violence; but the other victims are men, so who cares?
"We are the New York Times, peasant, who are you to question our decisions?"

Nguyen: “Hey, what’s the reason you’re searching my car?”
Deputy Dove: “Because I’m talking to you … well, no, I don’t have to explain that to you. I’m not going to explain that to you, but I am gonna put my drug dog on that (pointing to money). If my dog alerts, I’m seizing the money. You can try to get it back but you’re not.”

I admit I'm tempted to say "About damn time someone was charged
for one of these incidents."
Bernalillo County District Attorney Kari Brandenburg filed paperwork on Monday charging two Albuquerque police officers each with an open count of murder in the fatal shooting of a homeless camper in Albuquerque’s foothills last March.
Brandenburg’s office on Monday filed a criminal information that charges former
Albuquerque police detective Keith Sandy and SWAT team member Dominique Perez with murder in the death of James Boyd, a 36-year-old homeless man who was shot in March 2014.
Along with everything else,
Not mentioned in today’s report is that Detective Sandy wasn’t even supposed to be armed; he was fired for a time-card scandal in 2007 from another agency, and was only supposed to be a civilian (no badge or gun) hire to help with paperwork at the APD.

The usual suspects will be real unhappy with INTERPOL for this getting out
In an exclusive interview with ABC News, Noble said there are really
only two choices for protecting open societies from attacks like the one
on Westgate mall where so-called “soft targets” are hit: either create
secure perimeters around the locations or allow civilians to carry their own guns to protect themselves.
“Societies have to think about how they’re going to approach the problem,” Noble said. “One is to say we want an armed citizenry; you can see the reason for that. Another is to say the enclaves are so secure that in order to get into the soft target you’re going to have to pass through extraordinary security.” …
Imagine even trying to set up that level of security around malls, and shopping centers and so on. Won't work. Huge mess, huge tie-ups, hugely expensive, "Please remove your baby from the carriage/carrier and remove the diaper, or you don't go in." Yeah, that'll go over well.
Wonder just how the Mommies Want people will try to spin this?

On multicultural bullshit:
Radical Muslims both emigrate to the West and yet, once there, seek through Sharia law to destroy the very foundations of what made the West attractive to them in the first place. Clean water, advanced medicine, entitlement support and free speech ultimately cannot exist in a society that routinely assassinates the outspoken satirist. In a less dramatic sense, the entire open-border, La Raza movement is based on the anomaly that the United States is such an inhospitable and racist place, while Mexico is such a benevolent homeland, that 11 million risk their lives to reach the former and abandon the latter.
Hell no, the leftists do not; they only believe in free speech according to their requirements as to what it means and what it allows.
“This is not an event. It is the beginning of a movement,” organizers write on their website, which blames Americans for giving Islam a bad name. “A movement to defend Prophet Muhammad, his person, and his message.”
“All these accusations were invented by Islamophobes in America,” the group claims. “As we celebrate the Prophet in our now annual, nationwide event: Stand with the Prophet, we recommit ourselves to rectify his image, peace be upon him.”
Yeah, the murders and slavery and mass-killings and denigration of free speech have nothing to do with it. It's all the fault of the US. Right.

Hippos kill more people in Africa than any other animal. Including people in boats.
No, it wasn't a snub; attending would've clashed with his 'Don't worry, be happy' crap.
Over in Britain, Farage is upsetting the multi-cultis; good for him.

we get this gem of wisdom
I really think some of these people like the idea of a red armband with a hakenkreuz on it

The International Lord of Hate got pissed
at a guy who went into the usual 'gun control would be a good thing, because feelings' lines on Bookface. This part I had to steal:
Shorter Graham: "I'm offended and butt hurt that you won't look at BOTH SIDES! In other words, believe without question my naive, tired, bullshit!"
What? You think you are new? You think that you are sharing profound insights with us? See both sides? Motherfucker, I could write the textbook for your side. I've heard all of your arguments. They are always the same. Wishful thinking, appeals to emotion, and a tenuous grasp on reality, mixed with self-righteous know it all attitudes and white liberal guilt, mix it up, and present it as a meme or soundbyte. Shit. Moms Demand Action should just hire me to write their marketing copy. I'd do a better job than those hose beasts.
There are some arguments that are just so stupid that giving them the time of day is doing everyone a disservice. At this point arguing for gun control is like arguing for eugenics or against vaccinating your children.
I do believe he's a bit tired of these people.
Assuming the link works, it's all here

"We respect free speech" my ass
And I include the "We should be more respectful of the ways of the little brown people" leftists, because they've been trying to trash actual free speech for years, too.
So it is noteworthy that after the Charlie Hebdo attack, Gokcen is now calling for more implementation of the OIC-sponsored UN Human Rights Council Resolution 16/18 and the follow-up Rabat Plan of Action that would criminalize the very type of speech that Charlie Hebdo engaged in:
Noteworthy, and absolutely zero surprise.

This Senate BETTER ask real questions and demand answers,
not just roll over and play dead for Obama on Lynch. We do NOT need another Holder continuing the coverups and lies and abuses.
A message to Romney:
It must stick in your craw that you lost to an idiot like Barack Obama. But that's the problem, you...lost...to….an…idiot…like...Barack...Obama. Yes, defeating an incumbent President is hard but it's a lot easier in times of economic distress (see Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton, granted he invented his own time of distress but "it's the economy stupid" carried the day). Even with crushing levels of unemployment, anemic growth and fear that when ObamaCare kicked in things would get even worse...you LOST.
...
As I said, I'm not a fan so you can just write this off as more hate mail. But consider this, my urging you to stay out of the race is an admission against interest. If you run, you'll battle with Jeb and Christie. It will be hilarious to watch three guys who represent so much of what I hate about the GOP rip each other to pieces.
It's not just entertainment I'd be forgoing with you skipping another run. Your participation would make it easier for a candidate I might actually support like Rand Paul or Scott Walker to win the nomination. With you on the sidelines it becomes more likely that Jeb Bush would win and I'd have to either sit out 2016 or hope the Libertarian Party nominates someone who isn't certifiably insane (and what are the odds of that).
I do wonder; do Jeb Bush and Christie actually believe they can blow off the base of the Stupid Party and still win? Or do they not care if they actually win? Bush is... well, the progressive clown he is; Christie just told every gun owner and small-government type "Screw you". Again. Makes you wonder if they're being paid somehow to screw with the election.

Dempsey, it's not funny. And your manner of answering does not give confidence.
So it's basically "You not writing enough summons is costing the city money! Get back to it or else!"
Yeah, admitting the big job of NYPD in some eyes is raising revenue is a BIG step in inspiring confidence...
