Have I mentioned how sick I am of politicians?

One of my Senators is Lankford, and today, in his monthly "Here's what all I'm doing", on voting for the foreign aid and getting nothing for the border,
This is one of the great challenges of our current political climate. Some people would rather have nothing if they don't get everything they want on an issue. I am a proud conservative, but I also see the national security risk of doing nothing day after day. I worked for months to make some progress closing our wide open borders, rather than just complain about the problem and hope it magically gets better on its own after a press conference. We still have work to do, which is why I was back at it again this week to make progress on closing our open border.
So he voted for it with NOTHING for the border, and we really should shut up about it because it's annoying him.  My interpretation.

The FISA bill ...included 50 new limits on the authority, protections for Americans, and consequences on anyone who abuses the law. There were significant new civil liberty protections in the final version, which I supported.
Because the FBI and others have shown SO much concern for the laws that tell them not to violate said laws, and others, and people's rights.
FISA only applies to foreign intelligence. It is illegal to use that authority to spy on Americans, and the new version of the bill includes fines and jail time for any abuse.
Yet the FBI and others were violating that before, and they will again, but "We made new laws about it!" which is supposed to make it all better.

And the final:
I understand that some people did not want FISA renewed, but as a member of the Intelligence Committee, I am very aware of the importance of learning about terror plots before they happen. We should not ignore the very real threats coming at our nation from foreign terror organizations, even in the past few weeks. We can protect American lives, while also protecting our civil liberties.
Want to bet the FBI & Co. were violating that before it was even signed?
And, though he doesn't mention it, this crap gave the FBI even MORE latitude for doing warrantless searches.

Am I being fair to him?  Well, his statement on the vote included
“Our open southern border has allowed in millions of people from around the world. Without this authority, we cannot investigate if a foreign terror organization is preparing another attack on Americans from one of the many people already on US soil. The United States is a constant target for terrorists, and nearly every day, our intelligence community stops an attack before it happens.
First, hey, know what?  If the Stupid Party had had the integrity and balls to, y'know, DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE BORDER THAT WOULDN'T BE SUCH A THREAT.  But there's always a excuse/reason not to, it seems("You can't get everything!", etc.)

Second, 'every day stops an attack before it happens.'  I have to call Bullshit.  Sounds so much like the TSA insisting they stop lots of terrorists but there are never, that I've heard of any details.  Probably because it's said bullshit.

I think the other Senator, Mullin, said basically the same crap.  I don't think my Rep., Bice, has said anything(it's possible she did and I hadn't heard).  

So yes, I'm pissed at all of them.  The usual "If you knew what I did you'd understand" excuses.  I'm going to sign off before I descend into really bad language.

Oh, said politicians: if you have people looking through social media to see if people are upset with you, damn right we are.  And I think you've earned it.

Hell, if he'd said "Look, Sen. McConnell, our leader in the Senate, helped write this and asked for my support, and I felt I had to give it", it would've meant 'So you cared more about supporting him than about the good of the country?', which would've been bad, but it would have been better than still lecturing us about what a good bill it is, dammit.

My two Senators kept insisting the 'border deal' is a great deal: "It'll close the border!  It'll get money for more INS people to do that!"  Etc.

Lankford kept insisting "Wait until the actual bill is out, you'll see how good it is!"  Mullin basically pushed the same thing.

Bill comes out.  Lankford still insists, last I heard, "It's basically a good bill except for some of the things the Evil Party threw in!", even as people are saying "You signed onto and helped write this piece of shit?"

I'd written to Mullin basically saying the same thing I'd said to Lankford: "You actually thought this mess was a good idea?  Did they lie to you, roll you, or did we just make a big mistake electing you?"  That elicited a mass email saying "I will always work hard on matters that are of concern to you."  NO mention of that idiot bill, no "I screwed up/made a mistake/trusted people I shouldn't have", just "Please let this go away."

And then the Stupid Party couldn't even get all its members in the House to vote to impeach Mayorkas("The border is secure, no matter how many illegal aliens and terrorists are getting through it!").

The only good thing lately is Ronna McDaniel is- wait, turns out she may not be leaving after all.  That combines with some things Trump has been saying, and...

They might as well make 'Stupid Party' their official name.

It's not even closing the border, as Biden has repeatedly claimed it was -- it's just "funneling" the illegals to official points of entry, where the law already requires aliens to enter through.

Now Murphy admits that this power merely to "funnel" illegals to ports of entry is only usable a "limited number of days per year."
This allows for a more a more orderly, humane asylum processing system.
6/ But...important checks on that power. It can only be used for a limited number of days per year. It sunsets in 3 years. Emergency cases that show up in between the ports still need to be accepted. The ports must process a minimum of 1400 claims a day. Ah-ha! Even when Biden "closes the border," which Murphy admits never happens, but instead just results in claims being processed at ports of entry, exceptions are still made for "emergency cases!"
Lankford is one of my state's Senators.  I really don't know if he was complicit in this("You haven't seen the actual bill, it really will let us close the border down!") or dumb enough to get rolled on it.  Either way, he's a huge disappointment.  So is Mullin, the other Senator, who insisted how much authority it would give to stop the problems.

And, of course, we have that bastard Schumer, glasses low on his nose, threatening that 'Ukraine will fall, Israel can't defeat Hamas, and US troops may be in combat in Eastern Europe if this bill does not pass!"

The swamp screamed "Disaster if you won't let us keep illegally spying on people!" when reform of Secton 702 of FISA was brought up.  Because of course it would be a disaster- for them- if they were made to stop.

My Rep. had this to say today: "I agree that critical reforms are needed to ensure that we are protecting the privacy of American citizens. However,"...  Emphasis mine.  Because letting the usual "But there are things I approve of in the NDA, so screw fixing this" happen- again- is so much easier.

Ms. Bice, this doesn't even rise to the level of Stupid Party, this is "Screw the voters, I want this other stuff passed so let's let the criminals keep violating their oaths and the law" garbage.

The response boiled down to "I think he's qualified, he's less radical than other names floated, and I have confidence he will uphold the rule of law."

This after the crap Garland said, and refused to say, in the hearings.  And his open hostility toward the 2nd Amendment.

Throw this on top of voting to allow cops to search someone's internet history without a warrant, and when he spoke about the problems in the last election some group in Tulsa bitched that he'd hurt their feelings and he reversed so fast he probably got whiplash, and his vote to impeach Trump after he was already out of office...

I've heard someone is working to primary Lankford in the next election, and I'm glad.

A point about dealing with gun bigots and control freaks:
Gun control at its root has always been about gun control.  Feinstein is a statist, and her laws and regulations will always and forever increase the power of the state. Feinstein sees through McArdle’s argument on cosmetics, which is why her proposed ban includes semi-automatic weapons. There isn’t anything cosmetic about the aims of the gun control advocates.

Arguing that their bans don’t adequately distinguish between weapons leads them to refine their ban.  Arguing that there is equivalent lethality between weapons denies aspects of utility and design, and only causes them to ban weapons that have specific utility for home and self defense.  And arguing that their regulations were ineffective only embarrasses them to pass even more onerous ones.

The correct way to argue against Feinstein’s proposed assault weapons ban is to argue that there is no constitutional basis for such a ban, and any new assault weapons ban would be at least as immoral and obscene as the last one was.


More of the 'what we're finding out is in the bill', and it sucks.
 Remember Obama promised this as a free exam — no co-pay, no deductible, no charge. That’s fine and dandy if you are healthy and have no complaints. However, we are obligated by law to code specifically for the reason of the visit. An annual exam is one specific code; you can not mix this with another code, say, for rectal bleeding. This annual visit covers the exam and “discussion about the status of previously diagnosed stable conditions.” That’s the exact wording under that code — insurance will not cover any new ailment under that code.
If you are here for that annual exam, you will not be covered if you want to discuss any new ailment or unstable condition. I cannot bait and switch to another code — that’s illegal. We, the physicians, are audited all the time and can lose our license for insurance fraud.

One more thing: it's been mentioned that Romney just didn't sell himself to a lot of conservatives and libertarians.  A week or so ago I had the radio on Rush' show, and a caller was someone who hadn't voted.  Said flatly that he knew that by not voting in his state it was essentially a vote for Obama, knew all the problems.  Asked why,(paraphrased),
"I saw Romney attack conservatives in the primaries with energy, but when it came to Obama he was measured and polite.  He made it plain who he actually sees as his opponents, and it's not Obama and those like him.  Add that to his record on a number of things, and I just could not vote for him."
I'd imagine that covers a LOT of people who didn't vote: given a choice between the socialist and the socialist-lite, they thought "Why bother?" and stayed home.
And the Stupid Party response?  "We need to be more like the socialists!"

Senior officials in the Department of Justice were given detailed information about Fast and Furious gunwalking operations, House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Darrel Issa, R-Calif., told Attorney General Eric Holder in a letter today.

Referencing “immense detail” in sealed wiretap applications obtained by the committee that had been approved by these officials, Issa claimed “The close involvement of these officials – much greater than previously known – is shocking.”

“Throughout the course of the congressional investigation into Operation Fast and Furious, the [Justice] Department has consistently denied that any senior officials were provided information about the tactics used in Operation Fast and Furious,” Issa wrote, saying “statements made by senior Department officials regarding the wiretaps [were] false and misleading.”

“You have repeatedly either denied involvement by senior officials in Fast and Furious, or asserted that the wiretap applications do not contain rich detail about irresponsible investigative tactics,” Issa told the Attorney General.
Put in plain language, "Mr. Holder, you're a lying bastard and we can prove it." Now if Boehner will discover some testicles he's forgotten about, maybe something can be done.

And things NEED to be done, because there are consequences to the Stupid Party leadership not being willing to act:
The first account deals with an ATF whistleblower. Gun Rights Examiner engaged in extensive telephone conversations with a known source, followed by numerous emails, to clarify information provided, only to be asked not to publicly release the report after it had been drafted. The reason for this was the source had no confidence that anyone would provide protection, particularly in light of personal experience as well as other documented cases of retaliation by the government.

The second story was sourced by an industry insider in a geographical region that is not the Southwest, but who nonetheless provided details of gunwalking and straw purchasing to include the name of an agent from Phoenix familiar to those who have followed reporting on Fast and Furious. Again, after a long and detailed telephone interview, supplemented by a series of clarifying follow-up questions, the source elected not to proceed with publication because of a sudden ATF visit that could devastate the business or worse. Further or more specific details cannot be provided in order to protect this source’s identity, but it can be said that (he/she) runs an enterprise many gun owners would recognize and this person is also implicitly trusted by the head of a prominent state-level gun rights group who brought (him/her) together with Gun Rights Examiner.

But Issa — like Captain Ahab in his sinking ship — continues to go farther out, beyond the limits of rigorous oversight. He is now in uncharted waters where Democrats are charging that Issa, lacking evidence of wrongdoing, is hauling on board rumors and innuendo in a purely political attempt to defame Holder and hurt the president.

Let's see... Holder has basically wiped his ass with a subpoena, has flatly lied in sworn testimony, is trying real hard to cover up what he's done in Gunwalker, but Issa is 'intending to create a stain'? I'd say Holder's already done that. And is busy spreading it around.

As to the 'exemplary job'... the mind boggles at the mindset that can see the crap Holder has done in that way. Or be so dishonest as to describe it that way.

I seem to recall my being vilified for running stories early on that Boehner and his GOP "leadership" were trying to help the Gunwalker Conspiracy by roadblocking the investigation. They denied it then. Now, they are hiding.

Hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt? Not so fast, says House Republican leadership.

Speaker John Boehner of Ohio, Majority Leader Eric Cantor of Virginia and Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy of California have decided to slow Rep. Darrell Issa’s drive to hold the attorney general in contempt over the controversial Fast and Furious program, a move that could infuriate conservatives who have been calling for Holder’s resignation.

The delay could be a month or even longer, according to lawmakers and aides familiar with the issue.

Some within House GOP leadership circles would like Issa to abandon his plan for a committee and floor vote, which was sparked by a 64-page memo last week, which laid out the case for contempt.

They fear negative political fallout from citing the U.S. attorney general with contempt of Congress in an election year.

House GOP leaders are remaining mum on their plans. On Wednesday, Boehner, Cantor and McCarthy met privately — without any staff present — to discuss how to handle what many House Republicans complain is a glacially slow investigation into the scandal, according to several sources with knowledge of the meeting. . .

Republican leaders are pushing Issa to do more committee work and to build bipartisan support for the contempt resolution before they let it come to the floor for a vote.

But Republican leadership’s resistance to a contempt vote is a major development in the Fast and Furious scandal and one that risks the wrath of the conservative movement. The botched federal program has become a cause célèbre for conservatives, who cite it as an example of what they consider a corrupt and reckless government. . .

Yet despite the detailed committee memo and more than a year of hearings, GOP leaders still don’t think the case is “rock solid,” according to an aide.

The three top House Republicans are worried about both the legal and political implications of the move, especially six months before what is already expected to be a razor-close election. And now, committee sources say they’ll have to wait at least another month — or even longer — before the panel even brings up the contempt measure. . .

Boehner declined to comment to a reporter in the Capitol on Wednesday. Cantor, who is responsible for committee chairs, told POLITICO to “stay tuned.” A Cantor spokesman said he was unavailable for an interview Wednesday, and his staff has permanently canceled the majority leader’s weekly pen and pad. McCarthy’s office also declined an interview request.

The committee didn’t predict the situation to play out this way. Earlier this week, members of Issa’s investigatory panel were hoping to vote next week to hold the attorney general in contempt for not sending requested information to Capitol Hill.

So, that's that. So much for the denials. So much for the denigration of my sources and my stories. They were right all along. The question is, WHAT DO YOU INTEND TO DO ABOUT IT?

These traitors to their Constitutional oaths have taken their decision -- from politics or blackmail, who is to say -- and now they are hiding from it. New media journalists ought to be grilling them every time on why they are protecting the Obama administration's law-breaking. And YOU can help this process along by asking every one of our so-called friends why they aren't frying these traitorous bastards in the court of public opinion. If you don't fight the cover-up, you are part of it.

Personal opinion: Boehner needs to be kicked out of that position, and also out of Congress; so do Cantor every other weenie in the Stupid Party 'leadership' that doesn't have the balls or integrity(or both) to do their damned job.

Realizing a lot of Stupid Party members don't worry much about gun owners,

it's still a bit of a bother that various people have asked Romney, in various ways, about Romneycare, but I don't think ANYBODY has asked him flat-out "You pushed for a bragged about some of the worst anti-gun-ownership laws in the country as Governor; how can we trust you not to push for the same things nationally if you're elected President?"
