A light powered by a generator run by a weight;

that'd be interesting.

I just called Sen. Coburn's office, and it looks like he's selling us out

He IS favorable of requiring NICS checks on ALL sales, including private.

The aide I spoke with assured me that he's not in favor of registration; though how you do one without having the other...

Just bloody wonderful.  I'd always counted before on his holding the line on crap like this.

More tabs to clear

Mass debunking

DoJ and Southern Poverty Lie Center sittin' in a tree, blowing each other.

CSGV dumps Weber when his baggage comes into view

Speaking of, make the SPLC live by their own rules

Talked to son the other day, they'd just been informed that if sequestration goes through training 'will be reduced to the minimum'.  Which is about what they'd been at already.  As he put it, "Some of these guys can't qualify NOW; we do even less, and I'd hate to have to deploy with them."
But I'm sure Obama will make up for it by droning the life out of everyone in sight.  Speaking of which,
If all it takes to sign a death warrant for somebody is to hang a label on them, you want to be very careful about how hard you make it to hang that label.

The Rev. Jackson needs to study up on that 'don't bear false witness' thing;

but I'm afraid the 'being a friggin' idiot' is unfixable.

What's happening in (fG)Britain; gee, that sounds like a gun action being worked, doesn't  it?  But that's unpossible, such being banned in Britain...

Read the whole thing:
The New Left, as it was known back then, worshipped firearms.
The new, new left does, too – as long as it maintains a monopoly on them and state power.
Yes, the left still loves guns.  There is no other reason for the fawning acceptance of the vulgar SWAT raid tactics in which innocent men like Mr. Eurie Stamps get shot and killed.  These tactics are repeated all across America every day.
The left just doesn’t love guns in the wrong hands, and anyone who isn’t an agent of the state is the wrong hands.  Listen to Representative Jim Himes (D – CT) tell you why high capacity magazines are still necessary in government hands.

There is absolutely no justification for weapons that were made for the explicit purpose of killing lots of people quickly to be in the hands of civilians.
Let that wash over you again.  “Killing lots of people quickly” and “civilian hands.”  The two don’t go together.
Leftists are by nature not liberals, no matter what label they have adopted.  Scratch a liberal, and find a Fascist.

Cantor wants to buy lefty votes, and is willing to screw gun owners in the attempt.

Massachusetts passed some of the toughest guns laws in the nation in 1998, but statistics show that since then, the number of gun-related crimes committed in the state has risen.
The Boston Globe reports that in 2011, Massachusetts recorded 122 gun-related homicides, almost double the 65 in 1998.
But they're already assuring everyone it's the fault of other states. Of course.

How much DoD money was it Panetta spent on his weekend trips home?  Ah, but that was important, he needed the time to get his head straight, and that's FAR more important than screwing the troops.

And for some reason what this parent has to say doesn't get much media attention; too busy pushing fake heckling stories, I guess.

The best day hunting/shooting/fishing/etc.;

but overcast and chilly and foggy does take some of the fun out of it.  Especially when there's just enough wind to move all those little water droplets onto everything, and you have to keep wiping off the lens.

Since the indoor ranges don't allow draw & fire, this outdoor range is the only place I can live-fire that way.  So add in hands chilly and getting a bit stiff, that there is some realistic practice.
And, especially now, having a .22 conversion makes it a lot less painful.  Both in money and hands.

One thing: if you can shoot accurately in this, you should be in decent shape if things go pear-shaped.

A: THESE are the 'only ones trained enough to carry guns'?

Really?
There is NO excuse for this crap.  None.  Period.
According to Cleveland police policy, officers are not supposed to join a pursuit without permission from a supervisor. Of the 62 officers involved, 59 of them never asked permission to join the chase, DeWine said.
...
Audible gunfire from the first shot to the last was 17.8 seconds, DeWine said.
How many shots did they fire? According to the report, 137.
At a stopped car with two people.
Who were unarmed(surprise!)

Officer Michael Brelo, according to his account, climbed onto the trunk and then the top of a patrol car and reloaded his gun, firing 49 rounds. An Iraq war veteran, the officer said he saw "the suspects moving and I could not understand why they are still moving, shooting at us. Even through Iraq, I never fired my weapon. I never have been so afraid in my life."
Which explains the shot-up cop cars from their own uncontrolled fire, I guess.

I really have no words.  The level of FAIL in this is, well, amazing.  On multiple levels.

Tab clearing

No, mass shootings aren't increasing.

Screw the cost of food, more ethanol!

A new encryption system app; this could get interesting.

A: These school officials are idiots.
B: Yeah, public school more and more looks like child abuse.

Well, duh:
“Death or serious injury to ICE officers and agents appears more acceptable to ICE, DHS, and Administration leadership, than the public complaints that would be lodged by special interest groups representing illegal aliens,” Chris Crane, president of the National Immigration and Customs Enforcement 118, told the House Judiciary Committee this afternoon.

The problem couldn't POSSIBLY be the influence peddling

or underage hookers, nooo...

Amazon has a bunch of David Drake books free

in Kindle format today

The fixation gun bigots have on other peoples' genitals

is amazing.  And weird.

Great leaders with guns.
And some reasons why the "I shoot skeets" picture of Obama appears faked.

If you're new here, or just don't know much about guns, you might wonder why we make fun of Rep. McCarthy.  And don't like her.  Oleg has a poster on the subject
He's also got a link to the video that demonstrates
A: She doesn't know what the hell she's talking about, yet
B: She thinks she's perfectly qualified to write laws on the subject.
And note that 'barrel shroud', just like 'can accept a magazine of more than' , could be used to ban damn near ANYTHING.

Also from Joe, some of the gun bigots are honest:
Please define for me what you mean by “assault weapon.”
Gail Cornelius candidly responded with:
Anything that is no[t] muzzle loaded.

Oh yeah... when the doctor asks about guns in the house,

hand him a copy of this.

Saudi Arabia, and a lot of Islam in general: this is a sick effing culture

Fayhan Al Gamdi, an Islamic preacher and regular guest on Muslim television networks, confessed to having used cables and a cane to inflict the injuries, the activists from the group “Women to Drive” said in a statement.
They said the father had doubted Lama’s virginity and had her checked up by a medic.
The kid was FIVE YEARS OLD.

You'll have to read the rest, if you want to; I'm too fucking mad to say anything else.

Took daughter to Chileno's last night

and on the doors were the new 'No open carry' signs.  They did indeed carry through with it.

I had a comment from someone accusing people like me of crapping on open-carry people.  Nope; I'm for it, though I'll rarely do it myself.  I do consider it a Good Thing when a business that had posted NO CARRY listens to us and changes to just 'no open carry'.

Step at a time, folks.

You want to know what a sales man Obama is?

At the Berry's Bullets site:
DUE TO OVERWHELMING DEMAND WE ARE NOT ABLE TO TAKE ANY MORE ORDERS FOR BULLETS UNTIL WE CATCH UP. WE ARE WORKING 24/7 TO CLEAR OUT THE CURRENT ORDERS AND AS SOON AS WE HAVE CAPACITY WE WILL MAKE THEM AVAILABLE ON THE WEB.

Over at X-Treme:

We are working diligently to process and fill all orders in a timely manner – please be patient.

Please go to the Product page of the item you want to order and click on the ”>> Email me when Back-In-Stock” link to be notified when that product is available to order again.

Thank you for your business and your patience!
Remember, this isn't ammo, it's bullets for handloading; and they're this far behind.

You might remember Howard Good, who thought outing gun owners-

even with incomplete and/or inaccurate records- was just fine, but to dare put up the addresses of the journalists behind it?  Oh, that's disgusting!
"It doesn't move the issue of gun control to the level of intelligent public discussion," he said.

"Instead, it transforms what should be a rational public debate on a contentious issue into ugly gutter fighting."
For the moment, let's ignore that the purpose of the newpaper wasn't 'moving the issue to intelligent discussion', but trying to shame people who own guns.  And made them targets for burglary.

I put up a post about it, and just got this from a ever-popular Anonymous:
Professor Good is now the target of multiple death threats. Your posting a photo of his HOUSE is now linked to this crime and you are now a suspect. Nice going.
I thought I'd elaborate on my response:
Hey, dumbass:
You see a photo in that post?  No?  How about in the linked post at OGAM?  No again?  Oh, but OGAM had a link?

So?

I don't see you displaying any outrage over these squirrels screwing with peoples' lives simply because they may own a gun; or over Good thinking that's just fine.

So piss off.

Ah, the wonderful things Democrats have done for Chicago!

The surprising stats show the city is worse off now in the category of murder than at the height of the era that has driven Chicago's reputation for almost a century, Capone's "gangland" Chicago.

Let's compare two months: January 1929, leading up to the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, and last month, January 2013. Forty-two people were killed in Chicago last month, the most in January since 2002, and far worse than the city's most notorious crime era at the end of the Roaring Twenties. January 1929 there were 26 killings.

And the wonders of a modern college education: During his testimony Wednesday, Thandiwe suggested that his reason for even purchasing the gun he used in the shootings was to enforce beliefs he’d developed about white people during his later years as an anthropology major at the University of West Georgia.

“I was trying to prove a point that Europeans had colonized the world, and as a result of that, we see a lot of evil today,” he said. “In terms of slavery, it was something that needed to be answered for. I was trying to spread the message of making white people mend.”

He said the night before the shooting, he attended a so-called “Peace Party” intended to address his concerns about helping the black community find equal footing, but two white people were there.

“I was upset,” Thandiwe said. “I was still upset Friday. I took the gun to work because I was still upset from Thursday night.”
Think any of the Usual Suspects of Racism will have any thoughts about the consequences of demonizing whites for, well, everything?
I don't think so, either.

...and said he'd never, never be disarmed...

Comment I received the other day:
My people fled Hungary. A relative was sent to a coal mine in Siberia for eight years following WW2. He took up arms in 1956 and said he'd never, never be disarmed by any government again.

He told me that was made America great. I stand with them
.

Add that to this:
My father once told me: son, the single biggest mistake me and your grandad did was to surrender our guns in 1949 when the communists made gun ownership illegal. You paid for our mistake and I am sorry for that.
Now I have a 22 year old son and I am making ANYONE who wants to come to my home take my guns away A PLEDGE:

Good question: who are the cops at war with,

that they need fire-from-the-hip bullet hoses?

More "How dare you insurrectionists speak your minds?  What do you think you are, citizens or something?" crap.

So, Feinstein & Co. hate barrel shrouds and pistol grips; except when they don't.
I think a mix of 'no real idea what they're talking about' combined with 'maybe we can buy some of them off.'

Ref the Martin/Zimmerman shooting, anyone who thinks that
The media isn't pushing a storyline, and
Thinks the prosecution is playing fair,
isn't paying attention.  And I strongly suspect this crap is really going to bite them in the ass, as it damn well should.

From Uncle:
My assault rifles have killed less children than your ex-girlfriend’s anti-vaccination advocacy.

Two quotes we need to send to "We need another law!" people.  From Sebastian:
Gun control advocates really do not understand the fire they are playing with, with much of what is being proposed. How many millions of Americans are you prepared to imprison? How many are you prepared to kill? What is the count of ruined lives, broken families, and ruin are you willing to inflict to try to achieve your rainbow farting unicorn utopia where every gun turns into a flower?

And from this wizardpc:
I would like politicians and bureaucrats to acknowledge this: Every law, rule, and regulation made by the government ends in puppy killing SWAT Teams. Every dime that is spent in our name was taken at gunpoint.

I want them to understand that every action they take has this statement as a footnote: “This is important enough that my grandmother should be killed if she does not abide.”
The rhetoric might be a little over the top, but that doesn’t mean it’s not true. Take the story of Rawesome Foods, who were raided twice in one year by full-ninja swat teams for such horrible crimes as “improper egg temperatures.” I mean really what could possibly justify that?

Every time I hear 'Piers Morgan', I remember this

In 2000, Aaron Swartz, aged 14, had just released his astonishing invention, RSS, liberating news and information, replacing the selection of the tiny minds of editors with your own wide judgment.
Around the same time, one of Piers Morgan's stringers hacked into the phone of Sir Paul McCartney's wife and stole some highly personal, and highly valuable, information -- the type of gossip used to sell Morgan's grotty little scandal sheet, The Daily Mirror, the cornerstone of Morgan's $20 million fortune based on tittle and t*tties.

Electronic burglary for profit is a crime in the UK and USA both. But Piers is serving time on prime time, on CNN.

...
Piers liberated information as well - but for his own profit.  To his loot from hacked gossip, Piers added fraud on the stock market.  His scheme:  Two of Morgan's influential financial columnists would make recommendations to the rubes reading The Mirror. Piers bought the stocks just before they were boosted in his paper. and thereby pocketed tens of thousands of dollars when the stocks got tips went public. His co-conspirators, the reporters, got jail time. Not Piers. He admitted to the profiteering and walked away with a fine.
Especially when the corrupt bastard lectures us about- well, anything.
