This pause in the seasonal festivities is due to 'educators' who need to be fired
after the flogging.
Have you noticed how many of the defenses against the crap that happens on their watch is basically "We don't know anything about that"?

Nice that it's being presented, but this theory has been around for quite a while,
that the first immigrants may well have traveled by boat, and/or around the ocean edges.
There is just so damned much we don't know. Some things may not even know to ask the question yet.

As the holiday weekend has begun, I'd like to say
I appreciate those of you who read my stuff, and make sensible comments.
I wrote a lot about blacksmithing early on, but eventually hit the point I was going to start repeating things. And since I couldn't do much hammering anymore I couldn't really experiment with new steels/ideas, became more and more generally gun and knife stuff, reloading, and screaming at politicians and bureaucrats and bad peace officers. With some occasional eye candy. Which you folks have tolerated.
Thanks, guys
France seems to be right at the point of no return
Anti-Semitic attacks in France are also becoming ever more frequent, and have exploded since the atrocious attacks in Israel on October 7 by the terrorist group Hamas. In 2022, there were 436 anti-Semitic acts officially recorded in France. In the few weeks between October 7 and December 1, 2023, there were 1,518 anti-Semitic acts recorded, many of them physical assaults. From examining the police reports, done by the French National Bureau for Vigilance against Anti-Semitism, BNVCA, it is sadly clear that all of them apparently came from Islamic anti-Semites. From the murder of Sébastien Sellam in 2003 to that of Mireille Knoll in 2018, all murders of Jews in France have been committed by radicalized Muslims.
...
Ethnic Muslim gangs raid shopping centers and parties in rural villages. Most of these assaults are also never mentioned in the media. One, however, recently attracted attention: at a party on November 19 in the town hall of Crépol, a village of five hundred people, members of a Muslim gang armed with long butcher knives came from the neighboring town, Romans-sur-Isère. Shouting "we are coming to kill white people", they attacked, murdering Thomas Perotto, aged 17, who had his throat slit. Seventeen other people were wounded, some seriously. Criminologist Xavier Raufer, asked about the attack, replied that raids like that take place throughout the country every week.
The government concealed the names of the attackers and clearly did everything it could to hide what had happened. A conservative journalist, Damien Rieu, obtained and disclosed them. Although the prosecutor in charge of the case received multiple testimonies that the attackers said they were "coming to kill white people," authorities maintain that the motive for the attack is "unknown".
A lot more at the link. I once said that at some point a lot of French are going to remember who Charles Martel was, and why he was named The Hammer, and it's going to get real sporty in France. But I think they're running out of time.

Someone noted that the Gods of the Copybook Headings are coming around again
In about 800 words, Major General Thomas outlined his plan to recruit pilots without regard for their competence or fitness or loyalty to the United States. Instead, Thomas explained, the most important thing for the Air Force to focus on was the skin color of its recruits. He said that hiring more black and brown recruits was vital in order to keep pace with Russia and China. They’re busy developing hypersonic missiles that can fly at 20 times the speed of sound, the general wrote — but we’ve got our secret sauce that will keep us competitive. And that secret sauce, as he described it, is diversity. According to Ed Thomas, “Our goal is to get in front of every demographic group in America and show them someone who wears a flight suit every day they can look up to and say, ‘That could be me.'”
These people are fucking insane. And God knows how many are likely to die because of this idiocy.

Well, it's a UN agency, and their moral compass always points to 'Dislike the Jews and
support the terrorists', so...
Well, it turns out that the organization’s Deputy Chief (as well as her husband) are huge supporters of the Palestinian cause. So much so that Sarah Douglas holds Zoom meetings with pro-Palestinian posters behind her, and her husband is an outright Palestinian rights activist.
They are, in other words, open Israel haters. Douglas is a big fan of the vile organization Jewish Voice for Peace and likes tweets that accuse Israel of “genocide.”
4/ UN officials are barred from partisan campaigning. Yet UN Women's Sarah Douglas routinely endorses tweets by far-left politicians: Rashida Tlaib claiming Israel “is starving Gaza”; AOC calling to condition aid to Israel; and “IfNotNow” endorsing pressure on Senator Warren.
"Who cares about Jews being raped, they deserve it! So says UN Women!"
I'm back to Lawdog's idea for dealing with the UN:
Since I like to copper my bets, I’d draw an advance on my first months paycheck, buy a truckload of dynamite and order the Commandant of the Marine Corp to de-infestate the UN building.
While the Marines are chucking UN politicos off the pier, I’d be personally setting charges in the UN basement.
At lunchtime, I’d have a cheeseburger and fries and watch the UN building go up like a Roman candle.

I really wanted to go check some loads today
However, cold and windy makes it hard on the arthritis, and hard on precision. For general "I want to go shoot" I'll deal with it, but for "I need to do everything right to see how these work", no.
I'll say it again: getting old is easy, being old sucks.

Yeah, that sounds like how the 'elites' see us commoners
If you see a relentless campaign in the next few months to demonize ketamine use, do not underestimate the pull of a multi-billion-dollar conglomerate that was just humiliated by "six people from the bus stop." That's how JHACH's attorney, David Hughes, described the jury. That's the level of respect they have for you, John Q. Public.
It's an article about medical use of ketamine, and how the death of a celebrity has been blamed on it and doesn't mention all the other stuff he was taking, for some reason.

I think, that a lot of the left still doesn't understand
just how much some of the 'get Trump at any cost' idiocy has pissed off a LOT of people. Including actual liberals. So they keep pushing it because 'Anything is fair to save us from him!' Which brings us to Kevin's post. An excerpt from:
Public intellectual Sam Harris, who is a philosopher, neuroscientist and author, was on a podcast wherein he defended the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story. This man who advocates for Truth and Reason argued that it was a good thing that the story was suppressed, but he went even further:
See what I mean?
So, SWAT raids on his home? Warranted.
Treason accusations? Warranted.
Rape accusations? Warranted.
Bogus prosecutions? Warranted.
And is pisses off more people who see what a political hit job this is, conducted by courts and federal and state agencies. Including a DA who ran for office on "I'm going to get Trump!" They keep pushing, and saying things that, if someone on the right/center said them about a Democrat, would have every one of the Usual Suspects screaming that "You're inciting people to kill him!"
"But it's DIFFERENT when WE do it!" Etc. With no concern for the damage done to the courts and the justice system. Because they just don't care as long as they get what they want. Which means this is likely to get real messy.

Absolutely it was. Absolutely. But I think it was warranted. I don’t care what’s in Hunter Biden’s laptop. At that point, Hunter Biden literally could have had the corpses of children in his basement. I would not have cared.“He then pivoted to an outlandish analogy that compared keeping Trump from winning a second term to working to ‘deflect’ an ‘asteroid hurtling toward Earth.'” (Source: New York Post.)

The 'Justice' Department needs to be flushed out
with firehoses. If these bastards are considered 'exceptional public servants with an unwavering commitment to justice', might as well get rid of everyone(except the ones who belong in cells themselves), make sure all the lawyers are disbarred, and start over.
And they wonder why people don't trust them...

Some tabs to clear
History is messy, and full of unknowns and surprises.
Canada is run by bigoted assholes. Which you already knew, but damn...
Speaking of history, people have been screwing with it for a looong time.
I didn't know there was a volcano in Romania.
Dec. 16th was the start of the Battle of the Bulge.
