people being robbed/raped/tortured/murdered get sick of it, grab those hidden-away .22 rifles and single-shot scatterguns and start going after cartel dirtbags and using their weapons to arm up.
.Gov, having been hugely embarrassed by the commoners acting like human beings with the right to protect themselves, finally shows up(after the worst of the work is done, apparently) and now announces "You must join a government-approved militia where we can control you, and register the guns you'll be allowed to keep, or else!"
Response:
Vigilante spokesman Estanislao Beltran said the self-defense forces
would not turn in their guns by the May deadline, but were open to
joining some of the government forces. "Nobody is going to disarm,"
Beltran said in a telephone interview.
Translation: "Screw you. You ignored what was being done to us, or just refused to act, now you want to make us victims again? Screw you twice, pendejo."
Honestly, would YOU trust their government on this? Hell, I don't trust OURS with such.

Why a lot of federal jerks really wish April 19th would go away
It's a reminder people stood up to a government before, and can do it again if they choose.
By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood
And fired the shot heard round the world.
That piece of prose scares hell out of a lot of people. With good reason. To borrow a phrase "They mean to be good rulers, but make no mistake, they mean to RULE." And that little piece of poetry reminds them that there are answers to that that get rather noisy. And final.
Something I posted before, from an interview with Captain Levi Preston of Danvers, at 91, on the events that day.
An historian asked him, “Captain Preston, what made you go to the Concord Fight?”
“What did I go for?” the old man replied, subtly rephrasing the historian’s question to drain away its determinism.
The interviewer tried again. “... Were you oppressed by the Stamp Act?” he asked.
“I never saw any stamps,” Preston ansered, “and I always understood that none were ever sold.”
“Well, what about the tea tax?”
“Tea tax, I never drank a drop of the stuff, the boys threw it all overboard.”
“But I suppose you have been reading Harrington, Sidney, and Locke about the eternal principle of liberty?”
“I never heard of these men. The only books we had were the Bible, the Catechism, Watts’ psalms and hymns and the almanacs.”
“Well, then, what was the matter?”
“Young man, what we meant in going for those Redcoats was this: we always had governed ourselves and we always meant to. They didn’t mean we should.”
Neither do the dictator wannabes in Sodom on the Potomac. And they really don't like knowing that, comes to it, people can tell them to go to hell and back it up.

Why fewer people want to be in your bloody union:
you're corrupt dirtbags.
Ironically, the UAW had initially opposed allowing the plant's workers to have a secret ballot election on unionizing, insisting instead that Volkswagen recognize its claim that it got a majority of workers to back the union through the Card Check process.
Yeah, when you OPPOSE an actual election because you know you'll likely lose, that doesn't exactly give confidence in your actions.

Ramp polishing
Really, could have skipped this; the only thing that would occasionally hang up was some handloads with flat-nosed bullets; and only when they were the top round in the mag and you were chambering them; when firing they never missed a beat.
However, there were some small tooling marks on the ramp, so decided to smooth those out a bit. So strip the frame, pad the vise jaws and set it at the appropriate angle so the ramp- indicated by arrow- is level. Using JUST enough pressure to hold it steady.
Then find something of suitable diameter- in this case a Sharpie wrapped with 600-grit paper- to do the polishing, and a black marker to blacken the ramp; that way there's no question if you're keeping the angle true.
Blacken the ramp, and lightly work the abrasive, checking frequently to make sure you're centered and level. Every time the black was gone, I'd mark it again.
Do this ONLY until the necessary amount of polishing is done; if you do this on one with deep tooling marks(no matter the make/caliber/whatever), ONLY polish the high points where the cartridge will actually contact; if you try to remove all the marks, you may cut deeply enough to screw with feeding. I only had some light marks, so it took very little to make them go away*.
Do NOT chuck something in the dremel and start cutting.
Unless you're a pro on things like this I'd say do NOT use any powered equipment at all.
POLISH is the key: make the surface nice and smooth, don't remove a lot of material.
If you absolutely have to use a dremel, ONLY use a felt polishing wheel and buffing compound to clean up the surface. And use a very damned light touch. Screw up the angle of the ramp, or cut too deep, and you're screwed. The only fixes I know for that are a new frame, or having someone mill out the ramp area and solder in a replacement ramp insert.
Oh, wait; you may be truly screwed, I just checked Brownell's and they show that insert discontinued. So DON'T SCREW IT UP.
One more thing: if it's an aluminum frame, DO NOT POLISH THE RAMP. AT ALL. Aluminum is soft, and the hard anodizing on the frame is hard. If you cut the anodizing off the ramp, every time a bullet bumps into it, it'll dent and/or wear. The ramp won't last long.
Just to get one more whack on this horse, take a look at this page on The High Road; frames screwed-up by unneeded and/or too-much 'polishing'. To borrow,
Although it's apparent that most of the "work" was done with a grinding wheel, and followed with a buffing wheel, I've seen the same damage done with a buffing wheel and jeweler's rouge alone. It just takes longer to destroy the ramp.
*Very happily. I have a horror of the thought of cutting too deeply.

I wonder if the Jews will get little yellow stars
to wear on their clothes to show they've properly registered themselves?
A leaflet distributed in Donetsk, Ukraine calling for all Jews over 16 years old to register as Jews marred the Jewish community’s Passover festivities Monday (Passover eve), replacing them with feelings of concern.
The leaflet demanded the city’s Jews supply a detailed list of all the property they own, or else have their citizenship revoked, face deportion and see their assets confiscated.
...
So Pushilin says he doesn't agree with the order, but acknowledges his men are in fact ordering Jews to register.
Apparently former Justice Stevens can't remember what he said before his current "Let's rewrite the 2nd Amendment to ban guns from the commoners" moment.
Actually, while we are discussing Stevens' reverence for the Miller decision, the Washington Examiner notes that at an October 2012 Brady Campaign-sponsored event, Stevens said this about the decision:
The Peoria Illinois PD and Mayor Jim Ardis: farging idiots and abusers of power.
Illinois police seized computers and mobile phones while raiding a house whose owner was suspected of parodying the town mayor on Twitter.
In all, five people following the Tuesday evening raid were taken to the Peoria Police Department station for questioning, local media report.
Mayor Jim Ardis, meet the Streisand Effect. You disgusting little clown.
And Police Chief Steve Settingsgaard: ever hear of telling the Mayor "No, I will NOT raid a house because you're all butthurt" ? Of course, that would take the balls to tell said politician 'No', which you apparently don't have.
This has the potential to be interesting; I can see Sec. John Effing Kerry blowing his lid at the idea of the Indian Reagan taking office.
Back to New Effing York: let's see if the systems up there- legal and bar- actually do anything about these corrupt bastards.
Charles Hynes:
In a sworn deposition, Hynes admitted that material witnesses were held in hotels overnight as “prisoners” — a controversial practice that he repeatedly denied during 2013’s reelection campaign.
Prosecutor Michael Vecchione:
The case against Collins imploded after key witness, Angel Santos, revealed in Brooklyn Federal Court in 2010 that the chief prosecutor, Michael Vecchione, had threatened to bash him over the head with a coffee table or charge him with perjury if he did not take the stand against Collins.
And every other dirtbag involved in this.
Federal Judge Dora Irizarrry tossed out the conviction citing “shameful” prosecutorial misconduct by prosecutors, including the failure to inform Collins’ trial lawyer that three key witnesses had recanted or been held prisoner in a hotel before taking the stand.
Paul Krugman is a bigoted idiot. In detail.

limiting the scope of the Second Amendment to the uses of arms that were
related to military activities," Stevens said today during a
question-and-answer session after a speech today with the Brady Center
to Prevent Gun Violence's Legal Action Project.
Now that would appear to indicate that Stevens is tacitly
admitting that private ownership of "military-style" firearms -- like,
say, "assault weapons" (and indeed fully-automatic firearms, grenade launchers, and more) is precisely
what the Second Amendment protects -- and not, as we noted above, only
in the context of membership in a government-sanctioned militia. The Peoria Illinois PD and Mayor Jim Ardis: farging idiots and abusers of power.

First thought: I love a happy ending
A California deputy accidentally shot himself while trying to kill a dog that he said was threatening his life on Wednesday, but video captured by a local television station later showed the animal much smaller than reported and peacefully playing with children.
According to a Riverside County sheriff’s spokesperson, the deputy was serving an eviction notice at around 2 p.m. on Wednesday when a “large” dog tried to attack him, KCAL reported.
“A dog came at the deputy in an aggressive manner,” Deputy Armando Munoz said, according to The Press-Enterprise. “The deputy, (attempting to defend himself) pulled his service weapon, shot one round, and injured himself in the leg.”
Happily Deputy Finger-on-the-bang-switch managed not to pull it twice.
What makes it even funnier:
When KNBC film crews arrived on the scene later on Wednesday, they found a medium-sized pit bull — named “Precious” — confined to a pen, and calmly playing with several children. The dog’s owner admitted that it had been barking when the officer arrived.
Excuse me, I have to sit here giggling and snorting for a bit.

"Free speech? Why do we need that
messing up our enlightened society?"
‘What really bothered me is the whole idea that at a liberal arts college we need to be hearing a diversity of opinion.’ Yeah, who needs that? There speaks the voice of a generation: celebrate diversity by enforcing conformity.
"I didn't come to this college to hear other opinions, I came to here my own!"
Looks like the Border Patrol has joined the line of Organizations That Can Kiss My Ass.
In a letter dated April 16 and sent to Manuel Padilla, Jr., Chief Border Patrol Agent for the Tucson sector, the American Civil Liberties Union of Arizona describes agents at the Arivaca checkpoint threatening protesters with arrest, forcing them behind an arbitrary line at the edge of a "Border Patrol Enforcement Zone," refusing to identify themselves, cursing at the locals, and blocking their view of agents' activities.
Some of the agents' actions are incredibly petty, such as parking a running vehicle so that the exhaust vents directly at the protesters. Then when they move, agents set another running vehicle in front of them.
...
Other Arivacans report that agents at the checkpoint have told them, "You have no rights here," or that all community members are considered suspect simply by virtue of living in Arivaca.
'You have no rights here.' Really? That's what the BP has come to? Screw you oathbreaking clowns.
Why are Democrats such nasty, violent people?
Apparently just inspecting the friggin' mascot head was too much work for the SS, so they threatened death instead.
- At Westminster, the House of Commons Science and Technology Committee declares that the BBC should seek ‘special clearance’ before it interviews climate sceptics, such as fringe wacko extremists like former Chancellor Nigel Lawson.
- In Massachusetts, Brandeis University withdraws its offer of an honorary degree to a black feminist atheist human rights campaigner from Somalia.
- In London, a multitude of liberal journalists and artists responsible for everything from Monty Python to Downton Abbey sign an open letter in favour of the first state restraints on the British press in three and a quarter centuries.

Reason #2 to get rid of the EPA: it's full of
lying, corrupt bastards using their authority to screw the country.
Seven months after being subpoenaed by Congress, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy conceded that her agency does not have - and cannot produce - all of the scientific data used for decades to justify numerous rules and regulations under the Clean Air Act.
In a March 7th letter to House Science, Space and Technology Committee chairman Lamar Smith (R-Tex.), McCarthy admitted that EPA cannot produce all of the original data from the 1993 Harvard Six Cities Study (HSC) and the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) 1995 Cancer Prevention Study II, which is currently housed at New York University.
Note this bullshit:
However, despite “multiple interactions with the third party owners of the research data in an effort to obtain that data,” McCarthy wrote, some of the data subpoenaed by the committee “are not (and were not) in the possession, custody or control of the EPA, nor are they within the authority to obtain data that the agency identified.”
Translation: "We don't have the data, and we can't get it, and WE DID NOT HAVE IT."
And yet more lawyerly ways to try to avoid saying "We're lying shits":
“EPA has not withheld any data in our possession that is responsive to the subpoena,” McCarthy stated. “The EPA acknowledges, however, that the data provided are not sufficient in themselves to replicate the analyses in the epidemiological studies, nor would they allow for the one to one mapping of each pollutant and ecological variable to each subject.”
"We gave you what we HAD, but we couldn't give you all the data we said we had but actually didn't, so we're NOT lying and dodging. Really!"

The frame mods, next step
Main thing I decided to do was undercut the trigger guard a bit and round that area. Reasons being:
Caspian did a beautiful job making this frame, but it has some sharp corners in places I don't like, main one being the bottom of the trigger guard. Lovely to look at, but tends to be quite uncomfortable to the middle finger when have a good high grip. I've had the same problem on S&W M&P and Glock pistols, but in this case I own it and can mod it to my hearts' content.
Stripped the frame, taped the rail area and used some light cardboard on the vise jaws as well, and clamped it- VERY carefully, just enough pressure to hold- upside-down in the vise, then used a sharp half-round file, first cutting down right at the back of the guard just in front of the curve down into the grip(left arrow).
This is very much a 'file a bit, then try it' thing, both for getting enough to make it feel right and making damn sure I didn't cut too deep. When it felt about right, moved both forward to blend it in(up to the right arrow), and started working on the sides to round them nicely.
Here's a closer shot from the side
and a bottom angle better showing the curves
At the point it felt pretty good I stopped filing, then wrapped some 220-grit abrasive cloth around the file and smoothed it all out, then used a strip of the same to shoeshine, both to remove marks and further smooth and blend. Then cleaned it thoroughly and lubed and reassembled for shooting.
Result: MUCH more comfortable in my hand. There are still some scratches I need to polish out, and if I get a chance later I'll bead-blast the frame, it should look like it was made that way originally.
Yes, it could've been undercut deeper; considering the CT grips, didn't think it would make much more difference.
Pictures of the ramp polishing will come when it's not so damp and chilly outside; my hands are feeling it.

Clinton kept Reno for fear she'd talk?
Wouldn't be surprising.
"Then he went into a meeting with her, and he told me that she begged and pleaded, saying that . . . she didn't want to be fired because if she were fired it would look like he was firing her over Waco... And I knew that what that meant was that she would tell the truth about what happened in Waco."

Immediately.
God-DAMN, you actually think kicked in the door of a second-story unit that housed a family with no relation to Wiggins or his relatives, court papers state. After realizing that he lived in another unit, the cops headed downstairs where they found Wiggins trying to flee. is not a damned PROBLEM? What if you'd wounded/crippled/killed one of that innocent family, you stupid bastard? Would that just be another 'Eh, have to break eggs y'know' moment?
An Environmental Protection Agency official has entered the revolving door of cronyism by leaving the federal government to become an executive at a prominent environmental group.
Lisa Garcia, former associate assistant administrator for environmental justice at the EPA, will become Earthjustice’s new vice president of litigation for health — a position created just for Garcia.
Why, you'd think she'd been working for/with them before or something.

Whyever might people be suspicious of Governor Howler
and associates?
New York isn’t saying how many gun owners refused to register by the April 15 deadline, partly because state police, given the lack of a central registry up until now, don’t really know. Some estimates put the total at about 1 million people.
Yeah, nothing there to bother people, is there.
You'll also notice a lot of 'so-called law-abiding' crap about people who have a problem with being told they have to say "Commissar may I" to be allowed to keep their property.
'Leftists think conservatives are evil, and conservatives think leftists are stupid.' More evidence of who's right.
No, I haven't forgotten about taking pictures of the other frame work on the 1911; I just haven't done it yet. Working on it tonight.

Detroit: a lot more dangerous for the bad guys,
and the cops have the right attitude about it:
"The citizens of Detroit are very tired of being bullied by these thugs, for lack of a better word," (police officer Jennifer)Moreno said. "They're defending themselves and their property and they have every right to do so."
...
"We've been very supportive of citizens that are arming themselves," said Moreno. "They are law-abiding citizens. These are the ones who are in their domain and inside their homes, and if you can't have peace at home, where can you?"
The usual suspects are seriously butthurt about this; screw 'em.
Never forget, the Democrats wanted Biden for Veep because of his 'great experience and wisdom'...
"The citizens of Detroit are very tired of being bullied by these thugs, for lack of a better word," (police officer Jennifer)Moreno said. "They're defending themselves and their property and they have every right to do so."

All you really need to know about that clown
occupying the Oval Office:
Last year they picked up Democratic support from Pennsylvania Rep. Chaka Fattah and an amendment requiring combat pay for the survivors was added to the House version of the defense appropriations bill — before it was stripped out by Harry Reid’s Senate. You can imagine, then, why the survivors would think their last, best option would be to demand an explanation from Obama face to face — and why O, knowing that, would steer far clear. Disgraceful.
If he and the politicians in uniform had any sense of honor, this wouldn't have happened in the first place; but they don't. Saying 'they should be ashamed' is useless, they have no shame.
WWU President Bruce Shepard, your job is supposed to be "Attract qualified students", NOT "How can we be politically-correct racists here at the university?"
CNN: The most asshole name in news(after MSNBC, at least).
Seems an actress named Kirsten Dunst actually said something along the lines of "What's wrong with a woman staying home with her kids?" The idiot-level 'feminists' are crapping bricks of indignation and insulting her in every way they can come up with. Thus proving these people are farging nutcases.

Yeah, them tracking gadgets work GREAT, don't they?
Two parolees raped and killed at least four women while wearing GPS trackers, and there may be more
victims, a California police chief alleged Monday.
Franc Cano and Steven Dean Gordon, both registered sex offenders, were both wearing ankle bracelets when the women were assaulted and killed last fall and earlier this year, Anaheim police Chief Raul Quezada said at a news conference.
Yeah, all those Democrats are just HORRIBLY upset about the Koch brothers taking part in the political system...
Especially that slimy bastard Schumer.
And from the Sarah Brady paradise of Chicago,

And from the Sarah Brady paradise of Chicago,
At
least 36 people were shot in Chicago, four of them fatally, in as many
hours over the weekend, with more than half of the shootings occurring
over a half-day period stretching into early Sunday.
Officers responded to at least 27 incidents, starting at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the West Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side involving an attack that left a 17-year-old girl dead and two other people wounded, police said. There were also fatal shootings in the South Shore neighborhood Friday night and the Washington Park neighborhood early Sunday, both on the South Side.

'Disgrace' doesn't even BEGIN to cover this
In a stunning about-face, former Brooklyn District Attorney Charles
Hynes admitted in a recent deposition that he did not believe a man
exonerated for murder was guilty — even though one of his prosecutors
insisted, as the man’s conviction was vacated, “We believe in this
defendant’s guilt.”
...
Richardson was sent to federal court to defend the case in 2010 amid mounting evidence that his superior, Michael Vecchione — who originally tried the case — had committed prosecutorial misconduct by coercing and threatening witnesses to make them testify against Collins.
At the time, Brooklyn Federal Judge Dora Irizarry called the DA’s handling of the case “shameful.”
Hynes responded with a statement defending Vecchione and vowing there would be no internal investigation of the allegations of misconduct.
Miserable. Lying. Corrupt. Disgusting. Bastards.
But Hynes, who was voted out of office last November, was singing a different tune at the deposition, where he acknowledged that “someone involved in that case” failed to inform Collins’ defense lawyer that a key witness had recanted.
Sickening, corrupt, fucking BASTARD.
The Collins case is among dozens of questionable murder convictions during Hynes' 23 years in office that have come to light in recent years and drawn heavy criticism from three federal judges.
Chances of the bastards being disbarred: probably about zero, because the fucking lawyers and prosecutors will protect their own no matter what.
Chances of actual criminal prosecution: see above.
Chances of the sodding bastards having their immunity yanked so the damages have to come out of their own pockets: see above.
We're supposed to trust prosecutors WHY? We're supposed to trust the system WHY?

So, a National Socialist sets out to kill Jews
and even says 'Hi, Hitler' on his way to the cop car, and yet everyone seems to be downplaying that; gee, wonder why...
What will our good friends at The Nation say now, when his very first sentence notes how inspired he is by the words of none other than Max Blumenthal, whose antisemitic and anti-Zionist book was released by the magazine’s own publishing house, Nation Books?
Oh my, oh my, what did he read?
Jew journalist Max Blumenthal exposes and explains this attempt by a foreign government Israel, to buy the presidential election for the neo-con, war-mongering republican establishment.
Like I’ve been saying, the kikes simply do not trust a lame-duck black president with the name Hussein. Jews fear his re-election, thus this jewish Super PAC to defeat him.

Since the DEA and cops apparently have no better use for their time
than screwing with people for going to a gardening store, I suggest budget cuts. Let's start at 25%, and if that doesn't work go to 50%.
This Non-Violent Stuff'll Get You Killed
Professor Cobb currently teaches Africana Studies at Brown University in
Rhode Island. Every once in a while, this book will remind you that
Cobb’s politics are very markedly to the left, except on the issue of
gun control. I suspect that more than a few of Cobb’s associates will be either scratching their heads or filled with fury.
Oh, I don't doubt that last.
I am hoping that those curious about the civil rights movement are going to realize the positives of gun ownership from this book. Indeed, Cobb makes the point that without widespread gun ownership, the civil rights movement would not have survived long enough to register voters. The KKK were domestic terrorists, and only force meeting force would restrain them, especially when they were also the local law enforcement agency.
Yep. Nothing says "Stop trying to beat/lynch/rape us" like a high-velocity hole in the chest.

Well, MAIG is full of crooks, so why not other 'ban the guns' groups?
The article by News Times failed to report the fact that records from
the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection
show a long history of criminal behavior and that Neil Heslin is a felon.
All of which means that Neil Heslin is not allowed per State and
Federal law to purchase, own or possess any firearms. So often we find
that the strongest critics of the right to bear arms are those people
who cannot be trusted with firearms themselves.
In fact, despite multiple convictions for drunk driving and losing his license, Mr. Heslin continued to drive and was eventually charged with driving under suspension.
...
Another major issue left out of the reporting so far has been Heslin’s financial and civil issues. He has been sued several times for not paying his bills through his businesses and for not paying child support as well. Now, Mr. Heslin has found the employment he has needed for so long lobbying against the rights of the citizens of Connecticut and the rest of the country as well.
Apparently Connecticut Carry has been getting various threats for having let this information out; the gun bigots will happily work with crooks, but they don't want people to know about it.
Speaking of 'working with crooks' and protecting them,
The shocking scale of the Establishment cover-up of former Liberal MP Cyril Smith’s sickening sex abuse of boys is revealed today.
For four decades, the depraved 29st politician was free to prey on vulnerable children as young as eight.
Police received at least 144 complaints by victims of the predatory paedophile yet the authorities blocked any prosecution – allowing Smith brazenly to continue his abuse.
The Liberal Party even put his name forward for a knighthood in 1988 in spite of the rumours of his sordid activities swirling around Westminster.
Connected, from the gentleman at Belmont,
It is in some ways a whole lot easier to fight extremist gangs in dusty, far away African places. These mean, low-down, murderous critters whose life on earth is arguably a waste of oxygen are also in their way powerless villains, whose main sin is having no lobbyist in Washington to represent them. If they had it would already be politically incorrect to despise them. But one wonders whether low-rent thugs people like Kony are the truly dangerous men of this world when compared to those who hover, above reproach, in our most glittering circles, in the center of our most respected human rights organizations?
Joe Huffman notes a Brady Campaign gathering, and comments on their aims:
[I find the language used very interesting. “Thought leaders”? “Hone the skills needed to effectively engage…”? “Spreading our message”?
We don’t want people to have their “thoughts led”. We want people think for themselves.
We don’t “hone our skills” to engage people. We arm ourselves with facts.
We don’t “spread messages in congress”. We demand our congress critters obey the law and respect our rights.
They think differently from me. Perhaps more different than I can think.—Joe]
Just how DID Harry Reid get so rich?

Ayaan Hirsi Ali responds
to the Brandeis University cowardice. It begins
“Yesterday Brandeis University decided to withdraw an honorary degree they were to confer upon me next month during their Commencement exercises. I wish to dissociate myself from the university’s statement, which implies that I was in any way consulted about this decision. On the contrary, I was completely shocked when President Frederick Lawrence called me—just a few hours before issuing a public statement—to say that such a decision had been made.
More on it here. Brandeis is claiming "Why, we didn't know she said some of these things! We can't give an honorary degree to her!"
I'm going with the worst-case myself: the chickenshits got heat from the usual suspects, and don't have the balls and integrity to stand up to it.

Recall on some Remington Model 700™ and Model Seven™ rifles with X-Mark Pro® (“XMP®”) triggers
Remington Arms Announces Voluntary Product Recall
April 11, 2014
Madison, N.C. - Remington Arms Company, LLC (“Remington”) today announced a voluntary recall of Model 700™ and Model Seven™ rifles with X-Mark Pro® (“XMP®”) triggers, manufactured from May 1, 2006 to April 9, 2014.
Senior Remington engineers determined that some Model 700 and Model Seven rifles with XMP triggers could, under certain circumstances, unintentionally discharge.
IN THE INTEREST OF SAFETY, THESE PRODUCTS ARE BEING RECALLED.
Remington’s investigation determined that some XMP triggers might have excess bonding agent used in the assembly process, which could cause an unintentional discharge. Therefore, Remington is recalling ALL affected products to fully inspect and clean the XMP triggers with a specialized process. Remington has advised customers to immediately cease use of recalled rifles and return them to Remington free of charge. The rifles will be inspected, specialty cleaned, tested, and returned as soon as possible. Do not attempt to diagnose or repair recalled rifles. Remington established a dedicated website and toll-free hotline to help consumers determine whether their Model 700 or Model Seven rifle(s) are subject to recall:
• Website: http://xmprecall.remington.com
• Toll-Free Hotline: 1-800-243-9700 (Prompt #3 then Prompt #1) Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT.
The website and hotline provide guidance on returning recalled rifles free of charge. “Remington takes safety extremely seriously,” said Teddy Novin, Director of Public Affairs and Communications. “While we have the utmost confidence in the design of the XMP trigger, we are undertaking this recall in the interest of customer safety, to remove any potential excess bonding agent applied in the assembly process. We have established significant safety and technical resources to determine which rifles are affected and to minimize any risks. Our goal is to have every recalled firearm inspected, specialty cleaned, tested and returned as soon as possible.”
“We’re putting our customers and their safety first by voluntarily recalling all potentially affected rifles. We also want to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the Ten Commandments of Firearm Safety,” Novin concluded.

I worry about people
when they refuse to deal with a fact straight-on, but have to chase 'round the barn to say it's something it's not.
What brought this on was some show I had on in the background about people working with disabled animals and putting together prosthetics for them. You keep hearing people say "I don't see a disabled pony, I see a pony that needed some help", or "This is not a disabled pig, it gets along quite well" and so forth.
Lady, the pony had a MISSING LEG; that IS disabled. That the artificial leg lets it get around doesn't change that.
Dude, that pig was born with NO HIND LEGS; that IS disabled. The fact that you put together a cart for its back end so it can get around is wonderful, but doesn't change the fact that it IS disabled; there's nothing disgraceful or horrible about noting that fact.
Reminds me of all the PC crap about how people who are deaf or crippled or whatever "...are NOT disabled, they're DIFFERENTLY-ABLED!" Which is bullshit. Dealt with well by Denny on one occasion when some well-meaning twit told him he was just 'differently-abled': I believe the statement was "Lady, I'm CRIPPLED; I can deal with it, why can't you?"

And the dirtbags want another end-run around the 2nd Amendment
using that 'sporting purposes' bullshit. You'll notice they're also playing "We owe it to Mexico since these nasty guns the cartels use come from the US" crap.
Why is innovation so relatively low anymore?
Because idiots like ATF can change the rules on people at any time.
The original story was that since EP Armory filled in the fire control cavity after creating a firearm, the original creation of a firearm could not be reversed from it being designated as such. However, since it was determined by EP Armory that they didn't manufacture their 80% Lower in such a fashion, the ATF changed their tune as to why it was now a firearm. The utilization of a "biscuit" to designate where the fire control cavity should be not only creates a fire control cavity, but in itself creates a firearm.
This is such bullshit I'm amazed they're willing to put it on paper.
Speaking of lying bastards in initial agencies, BLM claimed it wanted those cattle and that annoying rancher gone because 'we must protect the desert tortoise!'; however, we fine that that slimy Harry Reid and family were involved, and it involved making them lots of money and screw the wildlife.
The Bureau of Land Management, whose Director was Sen. Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) former senior adviser, has purged documents from its web site stating that the agency wants Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s cattle off of the land his family has worked for over 140 years in order to make way for solar panel power stations.
...
Yes, I posted on this last night; it just REALLY pisses me off.
More on the subject:
The fact that a U.S. Senator and the Governor are publicly coming out agains the feds is in my opinion a very big deal and may signal the beginning of a true fracturing in the social fabric. Something that I have been expecting for many years.

"We REALLY don't like you citizens taking video of our members on the job, so go away."
The Dallas Police Association, meanwhile, insists that dashboard cameras and planned body cameras are sufficient monitoring for cops and, according to the CBS affiliate, "are asking citizens to put their cameras away."
Citizens, who may be aware of police not interested in being monitored, should consider asking the union to fuck off.

“A tortoise isn’t the reason why BLM is harassing a 67 year-old rancher; they want his land,” journalist Dana Loesch wrote.
“The tortoise wasn’t of concern when [U.S. Senator] Harry Reid worked
with BLM to literally change the boundaries of the tortoise’s habitat to
accommodate the development of his top donor, Harvey Whittemore.”
“Reid
is accused of using the new BLM chief as a puppet to control Nevada
land (already over 84% of which is owned by the federal government) and
pay back special interests,” she added. “BLM has proven that they’ve a
situational concern for the desert tortoise as they’ve had no problem
waiving their rules concerning wind or solar power development. Clearly
these developments have vastly affected a tortoise habitat more than a
century-old, quasi-homesteading grazing area.”
“If only Clive Bundy were a big Reid donor.”

Heller said he heard from local officials, residents and the Nevada Cattlemen’s Association and remained “extremely concerned about the size of this closure and disruptions with access to roads, water and electrical infrastructure.”It should never have been done in the first place. This was pure "Keep the peasants out of the way and shut up as much as possible while we do this". The fact that they did it so eagerly tells all we really need to know of what they actually think of the Constitution.
The federal government has shut down a scenic but windswept area about half the size of the state of Delaware to round up about 900 cattle it says are trespassing.
Sandoval said he was most offended that armed federal officials have tried to corral people protesting the roundup into a fenced-in “First Amendment area” south of the resort city of Mesquite.
The site “tramples upon Nevadans’ fundamental rights under the U.S. Constitution” and should be dismantled, Sandoval said.
