Saturday night, and it's time

to get back to research.   Which tends to be much more uplifting than the news.

About that no-fly list

that Obama & Co. think should be sufficient to take away a basic enumerated right(not to mention prevent you from flying):
A hearing in federal court Tuesday has apparently marked the conclusion of a drawn-out, costly, and, to use the judge’s own term, “Kafkaesque” legal battle over the government no-fly list. Malaysian college professor Rahinah Ibrahim sued the government back in 2006, after Dr. Ibrahim’s name mistakenly ended up on a federal government no-fly list.

Last month, US District Judge William Alsup ruled that Ibrahim must be removed from the government's various watchlists. At Tuesday's hearing, a Department of Justice lawyer said that the government did not intend to appeal the ruling. The ruling in Ibrahim v. DHS calls into question the government's administration of its controversial no-fly list as well as other terrorist watch lists, but it leaves no clear roadmap for other people wrongly placed on such lists.
This garbage we're supposed to trust?  Really?

But Ibrahim's case, as just one of hundreds of thousands of individuals who have been placed on such lists, shows the system's opacity. First, the only surefire way to even determine if one is on such a list in the US is to attempt to board a flight and be denied. Even after that happens, when a denied person inquires about his or her status, the likely response will be that the government “can neither confirm nor deny” the placement on such lists.

From the ACLU:
The 'redress' procedures the US government provides for those who have been wrongly or mistakenly included on a watchlist are wholly inadequate. Even after people know the government has placed them on a watchlist... the government's official policy is to refuse to confirm or deny watchlist status. Nor is there any meaningful way to contest one's designation as a potential terrorist and ensure that the US government... removes or corrects inadequate records. The result is that innocent people can languish on the watchlists indefinitely, without real recourse.

Get the feeling that a bunch of bureaucrats and agents in various 'security' places need to be beaten with clubs?

But according to Obama & Co., having rights stripped away based on this is just fine.

One more bigoted control freak tells us what she is

“We let the assault weapons ban, which was led by our senator Dianne Feinstein , we let that lapse. So you know, multiautomatic round weapons are easily available, even though not in California, but they can cross the state line, as you know,” Sanchez insisted.
Referring to the AWB that even the people who shoved it through admitted had nothing to do with crime control.  And which didn't work.  "But we want it back anyway!"

Not to mention the terrorists got the AR15s I think this clown is referring to.  Right there in Californicated.

“The second thing is, we really haven’t done that much about mental health. I’ve been working with my colleague, Grace Napolitano here out of the Los Angeles area to try to get mental health services more available for people, and it hasn’t happened.”
Well, your party has controlled Californicated for- what, decades now?  So if it hasn't happened, who's responsible?

“But then we have this thing called gun shows, which come into town, sell everything, don’t do these background checks.
Flat-out lie, but she doesn't care.

Question: Is she that stupid and dishonest on her own, or did she catch some of it from Ma'am Boxer?

The Professional Journalism of NBC.  On full display.  No wonder Brian Williams got away with his shit so long, he was among like-minded journalists.

Joe Huffman found a good one.  You need to see this.

According to WaPo, “In 1993, there were seven homicides by firearm for every 100,000 Americans. … By 2013, that figure had fallen by nearly half, to 3.6 [per 100,000].”

Breitbart News previously pointed to this decline and explained it correlated with a massive increase in privately owned firearms over the same period of time.

...So gun ownership increased for 20 years, but “gun homicides” decreased–except in gun free zones.

Yeah.  Mostly evil white males.  Except it's not.

A: The woman went through the vetting process- which the State Department says works just fine- despite some, let's say 'warning signs'.  And now CAIR and mouthpieces are out in droves, because the real victims here are muslims.
I'm sick to death of CAIR coming out and delivering ISIS' list of grievances to us, on behalf of Muslims worldwide, while at the same time claiming that Islam has nothing to do with ISIS.

Islam has nothing at all to do with ISIS; but, that said, here is our list of demands.

Speaking of CAIR and mouthpieces, who IS paying this lawyer?

And don't forget, it's actually our fault.

"How dare you show her face!  It's disrespectful!"  Well, Mr. Hashem Said, we don't have much respect for terrorist murderers.  So take your outrage, fold it to eight corners, and shove it up your ass.

I don't doubt it.  Especially the last.
**Barack Obama is said to have asked during an earlier meeting regarding the San Bernardino terrorist attack how best they, “control the message on this.” Jarrett operatives have apparently already reached out to and continue to then remind supportive media figures to describe San Bernardino as a “shooting” and not connect it to Islamic terror.

It seems the administration’s motivation will continue to demand the terror attack be used as yet another tool for further calls for federal gun control laws despite ever-increasing evidence the attack in San Bernardino was exclusively the result of Muslim terrorism. FBI Director James Comey appears increasingly unwilling to play along with the Obama White House’s insistence the actual terror threat be downplayed while the push for gun control be expanded.
—————-
UPDATE: Rumors now circulating that Barack Obama recently stood over Director Comey, who was seated at the time, and inquired whose side the FBI Director was on. Apparently the two men have been at odds for months, including Comey’s repeated repudiation of the Black Lives Matter movement and its highly negative impact upon law enforcement morale.
"I put you in that job, you're supposed to do and say what I tell you!"

And the last thing I have for now: you realize this means that if the other 75% of those sorties had actually dropped munitions on the bad guys, we'd probably be dry?  And how long it's going to take to begin to replace enough of this to make a difference?

Yep, it's that time

Damn good thing, too; took daughter to dinner, I'm now full and sleepy, and the ache has eased off, so good time for some study

Yeah, I'd wondered about this

The media kept yelling "All the guns legally purchased!" at the same time the murderers hadn't bought the rifles(which brings up "You mean a federal violation for straw purchases?").  And, as I'd thought,
While they were originally sold legally, with magazine locking devices commonly known as bullet buttons, the rifles were subsequently altered in different ways to make them more powerful, according to Meredith Davis, a special agent with the ATF.

The Smith & Wesson rifle was changed in an attempt to enable it fire in fully automatic mode, while the DPMS weapon was modified to use a large-capacity magazine, she said.

Those alterations made the weapons unlawful under California’s ban on assault weapons, which bans guns with magazines that can detach for quick reloading.
Yes, it's an idiotic statement to say to make them more powerful ; it IS coming from ATF.  Basic point stands: they were modified in violation of both state and federal laws.

But the gun bigots and the media, which is mostly Democrat operatives with bylines, will keep claiming we just need one more law, and all will be wonderful!

One of the problems with this shoulder mess

is that you need to move things around to help keep the joint from stiffening up, but you've got to be pretty careful about not doing too much, and/or too soon.  I've also been, bluntly, kind of terrified of doing something(a slip, a fall, something being grabbed by reflex) that might injure the joint again and cause me to have to start this all over from scratch.

So, yesterday, when something slid under my foot and I fell, the only thing that went through my mind was "PROTECT IT!"  While screaming something unprintable as I went down.  Happily, I did manage to tuck it out of the way and took the impact on the left arm, and all seems ok.

However, this just reinforces the 'protect it at almost all costs' mindset.  Which makes it even harder to get anything done other than sit here, or read.  I've got a bunch of branches in the back yard I need to drag around for pickup, but that means left-hand only, and with the yard still wet and a bit slick in spots, being very damned careful while I do it.

'Course, it could be worse; this could be before this surgery was possible, and I'd have to live with my shoulder and arm becoming less and less useful.

Ma'am Boxer: dumb as a box of rocks,

or Obama making a pronouncement in Paris, take your pick.
“Sensible gun laws work, we’ve proven it in California, and we’re not gonna give up.”

What she did not note is that the shooting yesterday––the one that they reacted with such emotion and passion to––happened in California.
You'll note Mediaite claims that Californicated gun laws 'have helped reduce gun deaths'; wonder if they include gang-banger and illegal alien-connected deaths in that, or do they
discount those, like Obama discounts mass shootings in nations he doesn't want to mention?

Translation of the Paid Liars' statement:

"Of course these laws wouldn't have stopped this attack.  But we want them anyway!"
Which is what you'd expect from these clowns.

No kidding?
As video footage played of police closing on the San Bernardino Muslim couple who committed at least 14 murders and injured 17 others in San Bernardino Wednesday, the CNN guest professed the obvious.

“I think one thing that’s clear though, is that… none of these things occurring have anything to do with climate change.”

'Workplace Violence'

'Workplace violence' my ass

No matter how they try to spin it

Farook and his wife left their 6-month-old girl with Farook’s grandmother Wednesday and said they had a doctor’s appointment.
They abandoned their child? Okay, stop. This was not driven by a workplace dispute. To leave your infant child and then commit horrific violence that is likely to lead to your death from police action requires an almost otherworldly devotion to . . . some other cause, something you consider more important than life, death, and the inherent biological urge to protect your offspring. “Larry from accounting keeps taking the last doughnut at staff meetings” or “they took my red Swingline stapler” isn’t the sort of motive at work here.
...
The source said the vehicle also contained so-called “rollout bags” with multiple pipe bombs, as well as additional ammunition. The couple also had GoPro cameras strapped to their body armor and wore tactical clothing, including vests stuffed with ammunition magazines.
“That’s a military tactic for a sustained fight,” the source told Fox News of the rollout bags.
That’s the sort of thing you bring if you want to make videos to terrorize other people, and rally others to their cause or ideology . . . it also would explain why they left the scene instead of staying to shoot it out with police at the social services facility. They intended to live to tell the tale, at least for a while.

Why so many Democrat(and a few Republicans of 'proper' words) get away

with the crap they do: most of the media is either in their pocket or up their ass.

'Disgusting' is a good word.  Had any journalist worth being called a reporter actually cared to, and had an editor with some balls, piles of this crap could've come out a long time ago.

Ever notice that Obama & Co. have nothing to say about another weekend of carnage in Chicago, but when they want to pump up the 'MASS SHOOTINGS!' numbers, every one of the incidents gets thrown in?

Insty has a reminder of what a Clinton staffer said:
“We have yet to propose anything that people think will make any difference. The people who are generally for gun control don’t make it a voting issue because it has no real impact on their lives. On the other hand, the inconvenience and hassle of wading through another round with indifferent and incompetent bureaucrats and the fear that this is only the first step toward more radical measures are quite real to people who own guns.”

Then came the real bombshell:

“Much as I hate to say it, the NRA is effective primarily because it is largely right when it claims that most gun control measures inconvenience and threaten the law-abiding while having little or no impact on violent crime and criminals.”

And a bunch of the left, once again, demonstrate what shitbirds they are

Today, all the typical imbeciles were on the same page. From The Nation to Huffington Post to this guy...

...the leftwing sure appeared to be in a coordinated mockery of offering "thoughts and prayers" to victims of shootings.

Gee, ya think maybe?
On whether the attack is terrorism, Bowdich said he was "still not willing to say that we know this for sure," but said some adjustments were being made to the investigation.

"It is a possibility, but we don't know that yet," he said. "We will go where the evidence takes us... when we are fairly sure we'll let you know."

Bowdich added "there's a few potential things" that point toward terrorism.
Also,
Two suspects in the SUV were killed in the gunbattle with police: one male, one female, both dressed in "assault-style clothing," both armed with assault rifles and handguns. The chief added that "sensitive stuff" was discovered around the vehicle.
That mean Dianne Feintstein will now introduce the 'Public Safety Ban of Assault Clothing Act of 2015?

And, as expected, every blood-dancing bigot and hoplophobe out there is screaming at the tops of their lungs for 'MORE GUN LAWS!'

Part 652 or so of "The hell nobody wants to take your guns"

Part 652 or so of "The hell nobody wants to take your guns":
Deputy Attorney General Thiruvendran Vignarajah of the People's Republic of Maryland:
...Over drinks, the woman asks him "off the record" about guns.

"My complete answer, off the record, is we should ban guns altogether, period," he said. "If you want gun practice with a gun, you can go to the gun range and then you leave it there and you go home."

He said, in his opinion, personal ownership of firearms should be limited to law enforcement and to individuals who pass licensing tests, pay a tax, have insurance and, as technology allows, have fingerprint trigger locks.
Isn't that nice of him?  "Jump through all my hoops and I may allow you to have a firearm locked-up at a range, peasant."

This was a really stupid place to make this statement

...Obama went on to say he hopes the latest incident will ignite conversations at all levels of government to reduce gun violence that he said “just doesn’t happen in other countries.”
The failed President delivered his diatribe from Paris, France, where 130 were murdered and 368 were injured in terror attacks just two weeks ago,the majority of whom were gunned down by Islamic terrorists.
I can only figure that he thinks the left- which includes most of the media- won't care about the bullshit, as long as what he says feeds the Preferred Narrative.

Slight problem: even some of the usually-tame media seems to be saying "Uh, just a minute there, Sparky":
...Is his statement true? In one sense, the answer would be “yes.” President Obama’s statement was in the form of: “Every time X happens, I say Y.” As a historic self-description of Obama’s own rhetoric, Obama’s statement is mostly true, but only in recent years.
...
Is the president’s statement about “other countries” accurate? No. For example, on Nov. 20, 2015, mass shooters attacked a hotel in Mali, murdering at least 19 people.
There's a list of others, then
Perhaps President Obama does not know about the above events or believes that for some reason that mass shootings in Africa, Asia or Latin America don’t “count.” This is a surprising perspective for someone who, in his autobiography, claims to have closely studied the works of radical anti-colonialist “Franz [sic] Fanon” and to have spent much time discussing “Eurocentrism” with his Columbia University friends.

Suppose we accept the president’s implicit premise that “other countries” includes only the most-developed countries of the West. With this limitation, what is the accuracy of his statement that “these mass shootings; this just doesn’t happen in other countries”? Plainly false, especially considering that the president was speaking in Paris, the site of multiple mass shootings on Nov. 13 and of the Charlie Hebdo mass shootings in January.
There's a lot more.  At the end
As President Obama pointed out today, he has repeatedly made the same claim about “other countries” and mass shootings. When he did so last June, Politifact examined the issue, including the research of Professors Schildkraut and Elsass. Politifact rated the Obama claim “Mostly False.” Yet he continues to make the claim, speaking in a city with repressive gun control and which only 18 days ago suffered a horrific series of mass shootings. President Obama’s second book touted his “audacity,” and the president’s remarks today demonstrated chutzpah.
Personally, I'd say they 'demonstrated his usual method of lying and counting on his ass-kissers to back him up', but that's just me.

When is a mass-shooting not news?

When the facts don't fit the Preferred Narrative.  Including at least one of the bad guys being
Black.
Convicted felon(cannot legally so much as pick up a firearm).
Out on a catch-and-release program.
And so much more.

Why the Tueller Drill came into being

If you're not familiar, the Drill is basically "Someone with a knife within 21 feet is an immediate lethal threat."

And if there's space, keep backing while shooting, because distance is your friend.

More and more, I'm so glad son can't be sent off as a 'This will prove I care!' pawn

by these corrupt bastards.

Hillary Clinton calls for more ground troops as part of hawkish Isis strategy.
—The London Guardian, November 19th.
Clinton can’t “conceive” any condition for combat troops in Iraq, Syria.
—CBS, yesterday.

Speaking of corrupt bastards,
President Obama on Monday promoted an official to be his top adviser in the fight against the Islamic State, one he fired from his presidential campaign in 2008 for talking to Hamas.

White House spokesmanpaid liar(there, fixed it) Josh Earnest said Rob Malley, now a senior director at the National Security Council, would be his senior adviser for the counter-Islamic State program. Malley, a Clinton administration alumni, will work closely with Brett McGurk, special presidential envoy for the global coalition to counter the Islamic State, Earnest said.

"She can't pass the tests, but we need more women on the roster, so pass her.  It'll be FINE!"
A firefighter who was allowed to graduate the Fire Academy despite failing physical tests has already gone out on medical leave — just 10 days into the job, The Post has learned.
Probationary firefighter Choeurlyne Doirin-Holder injured herself Monday while conducting a routine check of equipment at Queens’ Engine 308 in South Richmond Hill. Getting off the truck, Doirin-Holder missed a step and landed on her left foot, suffering a fracture, sources said. …
“If you’re going to get hurt in the firehouse checking a rig, what would happen at a fire?” an insider asked.
Silly bugger, the brass don't care about that; she filled various Diversity points, that's what's important.

I have a hard time writing about this, because it pisses me off so much.
"Yes, you want electricity, but we don't want you to have it unless it's green/sustainable/etc. enough to satisfy us.  So we'll teach you how to make a clay firepot, use wood we'd really rather you not burn to fire it, then use more firewood you had to gather to power this gadget which will charge a phone, and the other small electronics we approve you having.

Powerplant?  Dam?  Lots of electricity?  No, we don't approve that; not only would it not be Green, but it would ruin that primitive village ambiance we so approve of(since we don't have to live in it)!"

...Radical Islam is the ultimate in gender equality, in a way.

The blade against your throat doesn’t care what’s between your legs.

Radical Islam frightens feminists because it makes it just so clear how very privileged, revered, fortunate and favored Western women really are. If and when push comes to shove, feminists are going to have to swallow every hateful word they have ever written about the men in their own societies and plead for their protection. You think ISIS is scary on a satellite feed beaming in from thousands upon thousands of miles away?

Try them on your doorstep.

Because when ATF does it, it's not a problem.  No matter what laws and regulations they break.

Wondered about this myself; or is cultural appropriation only bad

when it goes in one direction?
Half-Pakistani in descent, I feel a personal sense of guilt at how non-western countries have unapologetically oppressed their fellow nations. I’ve therefore taken it upon myself to compile a list of all the things the world has culturally appropriated from the west, in hope that this injustice might one day be corrected.

Why a peaceful majority may not matter.

The story from Australia about the police hiding data on crimes involving firearms?

Probably because it shows how badly their laws are working?  The author has taken notice that "Those gun nuts in America, and the nasty NRA, are trying to use my report for their own ends!"

'Trying' my ass; Mr. Lekakis, you wrote about
Gun laws that aren't stopping armed crime,
Aren't keeping bad guys from committing crimes,
Are only screwing honest people around, and
How the usual suspects are playing the usual song of  "The philosophy cannot be wrong! Do it again, ONLY HARDER!!"
And you expect us to ignore it?  To not pass it around, as loudly as possible?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!   Ahem.
In 2010, the Daily Show humiliated the United Food and Commercial Workers for hiring temporary workers at $8.25 an hour with no benefits to protest Walmart over low pay and lack of benefits.
...
Just a few months ago, the UFCW’s hypocrisy reared its head for the public eye to view as Organization United for Respect at Walmart (OUR Walmart) organizers claim they were fired by the UFCW for attempting to organize their own union.

No, the ranchers are NOT responsible for these dead illegals.
Also,
Human rights activist Eddie Canales said the woman is one of hundreds who die in the brush. He said the biggest obstacle to finding remains of missing people is getting access to do searches on private property.
Yeah, because illegals are already damaging their property, stealing, etc., that means the ranchers should be just THRILLED to let you run all over their land.
Response:
Kibbe said people dying on ranches are not the biggest problem. “This is after the fact. This is a symptom of the overall issue,” she said.

The main issue Kibbe said is people in the country illegally are fleeing from their homelands. She said human rights activists should change their focus from the ranches to Central America.

“I think if they want to help these people, they need to go down and help them in their countries,” Kibbe said.
This.  See if these countries appreciate your efforts to make them no longer third-world shitholes that make risk of death crossing deserts and such to get somewhere else acceptable .
