Ever watched 'Sicario'?

If you haven't and plan to, might want to skip this as it's got a spoiler in it.  I'll skip down a bit.

Benicio del Toro's character, at the end, is facing the cartel boss and the guy refers to him as 'the conscientious lawyer', what he was when this began.  You have to wonder at how long he trained, how many hours under first-class instructors, to learn to shoot and move as he does.  And some of the other things he learned to do.

In one of the Matt Helm novels he observes that for every number of people you can intimidate or scare off, there will be one who'll come back with a knife or club or gun.  The boss apparently didn't believe anyone not a cartel guy could be as ruthless as he was.

Boy, was he wrong.

These people are shameless

“Just yesterday in the state of Florida, they decided middle school students will be taught that enslaved people benefited from slavery,” she said at a convention for the traditionally Black sorority Delta Sigma Theta Inc. “They insult us in an attempt to gaslight us, and we will not stand for it.”

This is a brazen lie. It’s an astonishing lie. It’s an evil lie. It is so untrue — so deliberately and cynically misleading — that, in a sensible political culture, Harris would be obligated to issue an apology. Instead, NBC confirms that she will repeat the lie today during a speech in Jacksonville.

I have been trying to work out how best to illustrate the sheer scale of Harris’s falsehood, and I’ve come to the conclusion that the only way to achieve it is to list in one place all the relevant parts of the course about which she is complaining. So, below, I have copied and pasted every single reference to slavery, slaves, abolitionism, civil rights, and African Americans that is in the document. For those interested, the full curriculum (along with the curriculum for the teaching of the Holocaust) is here.

There's a specific list of much of what she's lying about.

I would like to buy this lady dinner,

if I were in Germany or she here.

Anyone who drags a climate 'protester' out of the street by their hair is someone I would feed.

I went to the outdoor range,

figuring "I can get done before it gets too hot."

Ha.

Very slight breeze, some overcast, and so humid I expected to see little frogs kicking by at chest level as they chased the mosquitos that were trying to exsanguinate me.

Yes, got some shooting done.  And this is a day I'm glad it's done.

Little men with big knives and huge balls

Gurung ignored his many wounds and carried on firing with his left hand – a considerable feat, as the bolt-action rifles of the day were made for right-handed use. "Come and fight a Gurkha!" he yelled, as wave after wave of Japanese troops tried for four hours to overrun the position. They failed. The 4th/8th Gurkhas held out for another 48 hours until relieved on 15 May.

Which reminded me of this from Quartered Safe Out Here, and I wonder if Fraser was writing of the 4th/8th?
There was another occasion when a Gurkha platoon close to us held a position against two companies of Japanese who wouldn’t take no for answer, but kept coming time and again, yelling “Banzai!”; the Gurkhas just stood fast and stopped them until the position was littered with Jap dead.

When the Gurkhas were finally withdrawn it was discovered that they hadn’t a single round of ammunition among them.

'The New Censorship'

A remarkable transvaluation has occurred since that idealistic time. In essence, the postmodern establishment Left has reversed the terms of the Jeffersonian ideal. The threat to democracy is now society—a realm of injustice and oppression, in which human wolves perpetually devour the weak. Trump and Musk stand as archetypes of the predator. They represent the authoritarian impulse, and they can manipulate the dull-minded masses, even unto insurgency, by spreading falsehoods and fake news. The pandemic showed them willing to kill with their lies, to undermine the authority of science.

Only a powerful, watchful government, in the hands of the Party of Truth, can impose democracy on a troubled society by controlling the words said, as well as the means of communication that convey them, to the public. A wise guardian class, advised by specialists, must be mobilized to assume control of politics and culture. In this framework, opposition can never be legitimate—it belongs to the Party of Lies. Those who follow Savio’s exhortation and throw themselves on the gears of the great institutions will be ground to pulp—for their own good.

Between Wray making all those bullshit excuses for not talking,

as well as flat lying under oath, the IRS and DoJ pretending the Hunter Biden investigation was honest, and now the Secret Service playing "There's not way to tell whose cocaine it was, and stop pointing to all the cameras and logs for that area!", you get the feeling they just want to rub it in people's faces that connected politicians and family can get away with just about anything.

"Well, we trashed our reputations and trust a long time ago, so we might as well double-down on buying favor from the politicians and bagment."

Lots of interesting people are trashing 'Sound of Freedom',

such as

Someone mentioned that a bunch of Democrats who used to yell about child trafficking are now spouting the 'QAnon adjacent' crap about this movie.  And yeah, I really do wonder why.  Is it a reflexive "It's right-wing so I must oppose it even if I agree with it!", or a much darker thing?

With some of them, it's darker.

When the truth is 'whatever helps the cause', you can't trust the bastards

Yahr’s article speaks to a broader phenomenon. It is yet another example of how fairly recent lesbian and gay history is being rewritten. Everything is being remoulded to fit the ‘LGBT+’ movement’s Year Zero worldview.

Singer Sam Smith has made similarly ridiculous claims about being a pioneering gay voice in pop music, seemingly unaware of the careers of those little-known, shunned artists Elton John, Freddie Mercury and George Michael.

Outside the sphere of pop music, trans activists are now being given the credit for leading the gay-rights movement. Think of the oft-repeated claim that ‘a black trans woman threw the first brick at the Stonewall riot’ in New York in 1969. In truth, the drag artist in question, by his own account, didn’t actually arrive at the Stonewall Inn until several hours later. Similarly, Dublin Pride recently photoshopped the slogan ‘trans rights are human rights’ on to a placard in a photograph of a gay-rights protest in 1983 – a feat worthy of Stalin.

Well, a lot of these asshats admire Stalin, so...

Lady I used to work with had a teacup Pomeranian.

She had health problems and said she could barely dust under the couch.
"Why dust? Spray the dog with Endust, then roll his ball back and forth under the furniture, then give him a bath."

Let's say she was not amused.

And yet more "Trust the Science/Scientists(the approved ones)!"

And, once again, "Trust them?  Why should I do that?"
“Scientists in Wuhan University are known to have been working on gain-of-function experiments.”

The words - from Feb. 1, 2020, as Covid exploded worldwide - come from a note written by none other than Dr. Anthony Fauci, America’s Doctor himself. They come as Fauci and top virologists were just starting their strenuous efforts to hide and distract from the potential Chinese lab origins of Sars-Cov-2.

And after the first cover-up came the second. The National Institutes of Health hid Fauci’s words, completely redacting the email he had written from Freedom of Information Act requests. The NIH gave up the note only in response to a House of Representatives subpoena - years after Fauci wrote it, far too late.

Of all the bastards who yelled "Racists!", and damaged- sometimes destroyed- the careers of anyone who openly disagreed with their Preferred Narrative, I wonder if any of them regret the damage they did?  If no other, the damage to their own reputations and careers?

I doubt it.

For the nut-level activists, seems to have been a severe shock

And suddenly Muslim parents became all a bunch of white supremacists.

Ah, Californicated Democrats, they never fail to disappoint, do they?

California lawmakers in the Assembly Public Safety Committee on Tuesday blocked a measure that would have classified human trafficking of a minor as a serious felony under state law, an effort that attempted to keep repeat offenders behind bars and make them ineligible to be released from prison early.

The measure was halfway through the state's legislative process, having cleared the State Senate unanimously with broad, bipartisan support. None of the six Democrats on the Assembly Public Safety Committee were willing to cast a vote on the measure Tuesday. Republican Assemblymen Juan Alanis and Tom Lackey were the bill's only yes votes.

Family matters take time

When got home, one of the first things I saw from someone was 'According to AI, this is what Europeans think of Americans' by state.  I hereby state that the image for Oklahoma is quite acceptable.
