A less-than-stellar night last night

after a worrisome day.  Security Staff(Sr.) came hobbling out to breakfast, whining with every step; injury to a hind leg, I have no idea how.  She could eat and drink ok, so I cleaned it and kept antiseptic on, made sure plenty to eat and drink.

By evening and dinner she moved a little better, but still obviously in pain.  Made sure she was comfortable and let her rest, hoping for better this morning.

So I slept lousy, and short, but out she came; still hobbling a bit, but much better.  And better yet as the day went on.  I'll make sure she takes it easy for another couple of days before any long walks.

Which is why I'm tired-out.  Tuckered.  Almost knackered.  You take care of the data study, I'm going to clean up and collapse.

Nixon tried to misuse the IRS;

Obama & Co. ...
White House emails to the IRS about individual tax returns cannot be exempted by the embattled agency under the Freedom of Information Act, a federal judge ruled Friday.

United States District Court for the District of Columbia Judge Amy Berman Jackson ruled that Section 6103 of the tax code does not justify the IRS from withholding from FOIA requesters by refusing to say whether the records exist. She ordered the IRS to respond properly to an FOIA request submitted by the non-profit watchdog group Cause of Action.
Short version: "Hey, if the White House did this it would violate confidentiality to confirm it, so we don't have to tell you!"  Which is utter bullshit.  But about what we've come to expect.

This has two parts of "Oh shit" for the bad guys: the White House using the IRS to access taxpayer records and the IRS doing it- both illegal and unethical as hell- and the IRS trying to cover it up.  Both worth prison time.

Yeah, yeah, I know, with this 'Justice' Department...

What's missing from this description? Updated

Police described the suspect as a man believed to be between 20 and 25 years old and stands about 5-foot-10 to 6-feet tall. He was wearing a white T-shirt and red shorts and driving a red or maroon pickup-style truck with an extended cab.
Might it be that there's no mention of, let us say, shade?  Hue?  Skin color?  Wouldn't you think that would be important in the description of a murder suspect?

CNN says in custody.   Update: no, he's not as of Saturday afternoon.

Gee, makes you wonder if there might some connection, doesn't it?

Couple of years ago, in Australia, there was a lot of yelling when the media began, when reporting descriptions of people the police were looking for, leaving out the race.  It was pointed out that that could be a fairly critical thing, and they insisted that it was somewhat racist to mention such a matter.  Which caused them to be called the PC-brained idiots they were.  Can't remember if they started showing some sense, or if they stuck with it.

Let's see... you've got racists,

you've got 9/11 truthers, you've got people calling for murder and 'then post pictures of the body hanging', all in one group.

Has to be noted: if they were white, everyone from Obama on down would be screaming about it, and DHS and the EffingBI would be all over them.

They actually start doing this, they really won't like the result.

Across the pond, how's that 'Blame the object' thing working?
Not very well.

Waco PD & Co.: this is looking more and more like they really, REALLY screwed up, and really don't want to have to deal with the consequences.

Friday night, worn out,

is a nice time to relax and go over the new data

What would an actual war on women look like?

A lot like this.
Two sisters who have been told they will be repeatedly gang-raped as a “punishment” for the crimes committed by their brother have pleaded with the Supreme Court to be protected.

The pair fled their village after an all-male council "ruled" that they should be raped, have their faces blackened and then be paraded naked because the brother eloped with a married woman from a higher caste.
Sounds to me like a village council would all look better dead.

Oh no, couldn't be any voter-fraud involved here,

nooooo....
(Alexandria, VA) – August 27  The Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) has put 141 counties on notice across the United States that they have more registered voters than people alive.

So now this raid is so unpopular ...Manhattan's District Attorney, Cy Vance, wants nothing to do with this raid that happened in his backyard. According to Gay City News, Vance has asked for his office to be removed from the Department of Justice press release promoting the raid:
The original question stands: why was DHS involved in this in the first place?  Second, if this was such a criminal matter why WASN'T the DAs office involved?

“Hillary Clinton saying that somebody who is pro-life — I mean, let’s tell the truth,” Scarborough said. “She wanted us to talk about this. She wanted to throw a bright shiny object out there, so they don’t talk about the email scandal…it’s gutter politics at its worst to compare people to radical terrorists that cut off people’s heads and blow up grandmoms.”

He continued: “It’s not all right…And what Hillary Clinton did is compare somebody who is pro-life — which is close to 50% of Americans — to radical terrorists.”

Bloomberg reporter Mark Halperin agreed, saying, “If a Republican did this, the world would come to a halt.” He also said her comments “should be condemned in strong terms.”
It won't be by the Democrats; it's distracting from the e-mail mess, AND a bunch of them really do think anyone who stands against them is a terrorist.

Yeah.  The US is worse than Hamas.  Despite not using women and children as shields, and to drum up a body count for the cameras.

Hawking has a new idea about black holes, that to me

makes damn little sense.
Hawking’s proposal is an attempt to answer a problem that has tormented physicists about what happens to things when they go beyond the event horizon, where even light can’t get back. The information about the object has to be preserved, scientists believe, even if the thing itself is swallowed up — and that paradox has puzzled scientists for decades.

My problem with that: The information about the object has to be preserved, scientists believe,
Why?  Yes, I know: "Quantum mechanics, things work differently on that level!"  Which still leaves me in the dark.  Why would the 'information about the object' need to be preserved instead of simply going into the hole with the physical?

Now Hawking has proposed that the information is stored on the boundary, at the event horizon. That means that it never makes its way into the black hole, and so never needs to make its way out again either.
Stored?  How and why?  Is this something required by current theory, so they're trying to save it, or what?

Ah, another article on it, which contains this:
...These things cannot be lost, according to the way we think the universe works, and physicists generally believe that they aren't really lost. But where does the information go when the black hole that's absorbed it goes kaput?

It's brainy stuff, but without an explanation for the apparent paradox, some of the most basic laws we think exist in the universe are at stake. At a public lecture in Stockholm on Monday, Hawking implied that our concept of time itself could fall apart if black holes proved to be exempt from such laws.
Ah, there we go.

The problem there is 'our concept of time' and 'such laws' are just that: OUR concept, and 'laws' here actually means 'How we understand things to work, based on what we've currently found.  Or in some cases, we've played with numbers and said Eureka!"  And a lot of people really don't like the idea that said understanding is either wrong, or incomplete enough to make real problems.  Or so it seems to me.

Yes, I'm quite away that my level of knowledge of this is low, and I'm probably missing some "This is why you're wrong, you clod".  Still.

When the subject of the Fairly-Socialized Multi-Cultural Paradise of Sweden comes up,

refer them to this.  And this.  I'd heard it was bad, but damn.

Also, next time someone starts that "Hate speech should not be protected under the 1st Amendment!" crap, after you ask them just who'll decide what 'hate speech' is, make sure they got to this part of the second link:
This remark led to Michael Hess being charged with "denigration of ethnic groups" [hets mot folkgrupp], a crime in Sweden.
...
...During his trial, he provided evidence of how sharia law deals with rape, and statistics to indicate that Muslims are vastly overrepresented among perpetrators of rape in Sweden. However, the court decided that facts were irrelevant:
"The Court [Tingsrätten] notes that the question of whether or not Michael Hess's pronouncement is true, or appeared to be true to Michael Hess, has no bearing on the case. Michael Hess's statement must be judged based on its timing and context. ... At the time of the offense, Michael Hess referred neither to established research nor to Islamic sources. It was only in connection with his indictment that Michael Hess tried to find support in research and religious writings. The Court therefore notes that Michael Hess's pronouncement was obviously not a part of any reasoned [saklig] or trustworthy [vederhäftig] discussion. Michael Hess's pronouncement must therefore be viewed as an expression of disdain for immigrants with an Islamic faith."
Translation: "It doesn't matter that what you said was true, We don't like it!  And you're lucky you're not in jail for it."  That's what 'hate speech' laws would mean here, too.

Speaking of other countries and idiot policies,
Mexico’s theory is that, since any gun in the U.S. might at some point conceivably cross the U.S. border, all U.S. guns have to be controlled in the name of controlling the international arms trade.
My theory is "Hey, Mexico, why don't you worry first about changing your country from a corrupt third-world hellhole in large part controlled by cartels and oligarchs in which commoners having arms for self-defense is punished?  And where people think that crossing a desert, or sending their KIDS, to sneak into another country is a good idea?  THAT just might help more than blaming us.

The maximum speed of the machines was just 3 knots.

Yet after two hours of travelling on the surface of the waves the teams were well ahead of schedule and stopped to revive themselves with figs and cognac.
Riding this

at night, to put mines on battleships.

Dayum.

Precedent for LE with armed drones, yay!

Because nothing could go wrong with this, right?

Second: LEOs who say crap like this:
Rost said he needs to use drones for surveillance in order to obtain a warrant in the first place.

“If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear,” Becker remembered opponents like Rost saying.
should have some citizen start sniffing around their property, or going into the station to browse around, and be told to shut up when they yell.  "You're ordering me out, and threatening me with arrest?  Why, what've you got to hide in here?"

Rost, that's the argument of a nasty little fascist.  And you suck for making it.

Well, that would explain the deafening music.

Which usually sucks.

Californicated 'environmentalists' REALLY want to destroy their economy, don't they?
...Steyer has appeared at hearings for de Leon’s Senate Bill 350, which would mandate a 50 percent cut in gasoline consumption in the Golden State by 2030. The only way to achieve that goal would be to increase prices substantially. Hardest hit by Proposition 39 and the scorched-earth environmentalism of SB 350 would be de Leon’s own constituents in East Los Angeles, one of the poorest areas in a state with the highest poverty rate in the nation.
Barring some amazing leap in engine tech, that could be implemented fast, they're talking about 'We'll raise taxes on fuel so high people can't afford to drive, that'll solve the problems!'  Which it will, if you don't care about the aforementioned destruction of the economy.  Which they apparently don't.  You want to talk about driving businesses and people to other states...

And hey, isn't this the de Leon of that idiot 'ghost gun' press conference?  Similar level of idiocy, different subject, both involving controlling the lives of others.

Reason the Whatever to get rid of DHS:

If they've got so much free time, money and personnel that they can get involved in bloody prostitution cases, then they have nothing important to do and need to immediately become unemployed.

Their stationary can be turned into confetti to celebrate the demise.

No matter what it is, or what has to be ignored to reach the decision,

the US must be the worst!
And we would do well not to forget that American slavery, particularly in its last half-century before abolition, was one of the most brutal slave systems in recorded human history. In comparison, the history of Islamic slavery is relatively mild.
Right.  The US was worse than the Romans, than the Barbary corsairs, than the Triple Alliance, than ANYONE ELSE!  Because the US must always be the worst!

Apparently this moron never read accounts of how Arab slavers treated black Africans.  Or those miles of crucified slaves on Roman roads.  Or other things.  Or, just maybe, those things don't matter, because it wasn't the US doing them.

Bullshit like this is why the word 'racist' now means "They're yelling 'racism'?  That means they're either full of shit, or trying to cover something up."

Oh yeah, we can trust the IRS; they say so.  And just because they've lied and hidden things and used their power for political purposes doesn't change that; just trust them on this.

Yeah, about those 'absurd' proposals about illegal aliens...

Every day, thousands of illegal aliens file false federal affidavits, use phony Social Security numbers, employ fake IDs, are pulled over for DUIs, and shoot and steal — the very violations of the laws that sanctuary cities sought to nullify.  The crimes are apparently numerous enough occurrences to win the attention of sanctuary cities, which would not exist if illegal aliens were all, as implied, “dreamers.”
In sum, government agencies would need only to follow passive enforcement of the law, and allow illegal aliens to come into contact with legal authorities of various sorts rather that conduct deportation raids. ICE, then, would need only to deport those who had criminal holds on them — as they insidiously came into contact with the criminal justice system. The number and frequency of those encounters could be quite substantial each day and cumulatively so by year’s end.
And which we're told not to notice, or we're racists.
What is absurd?
Absurdity is ceding vast swaths along the southern border as a sanctuary area where federal law does not apply. Or allowing 10% of Mexico’s population to enter illegally, to reside illegally, and to redefine the very nomenclature of illegal alien — making demands on the host about its own laws, languages, and protocols. Sanctuary cities are absurd neo-Confederate ideas and harken back to the 1850s. Raza is a good Balkan word, the sort of racially charged buzz noun that leads logically to a Bosnia or Kosovo.
Ever notice that when racists like la Raza spout their crap, the same people who call Americans racist for wanting our laws enforced don't say a word about it?  That's politically-correct racism, so they don't mind it.

Ok, let's speak of absurd.  And disgusting.  Some cops, after Katrina, behaved as thugs and criminals and committed some murders and woundings.  The local authorities screwed-up the case, the Holder Do'J' came in.  And produced this bullshit.
Now, the Fifth Circuit, noting that the Justice Department lawyers stoked a “mob mentality” against police officers, has affirmed the trial court’s decision to order a new trial. In addition to blasting the DOJ’s rabble rousing blog campaign and dishonest “investigation” thereof, the court found that cooperating defendants called to testify by the government lied; that defense witnesses were intimidated from testifying; and that inexplicably gross sentencing disparities resulted from the government’s plea bargains and charging practices.
Federal prosecutors behaving VERY badly.  And lying to judges.  Etc.  Now the convictions have been thrown out because of it, and the whole mess starts over.  Consequences to the prosecutors?
Perricone resigned. Mann retired with (as the Fifth Circuit made a point of noting) her “panoply of federal benefits intact,” notwithstanding her bald-faced lies to the district court.
And Dobinski? She remains in her high-paying job at the Civil Rights Division, in the unit that prosecutes police officers, having received only a “bare reproof,” as the appeals court describes it.
Finally, Bernstein, who held out on the trial judge, received an award from Eric Holder for her work after the New Orleans police trial.
Yeah.  Consequences.

But we're supposed to trust the Department of  'Justice'.

And don't count on the current AG to clean it up:
During the Lynch confirmation hearing, Adams reminds us, Ted Cruz asked Lynch what she intended to do about Dobinski’s misconduct and continued employment. Lynch gave no substantive answer.

Gray wolves in the Cascades.

Really?  THIS is your storyline?
But some apparently have a different perspective. I hereby nominate this headline in the relentlessly left-wing Minneapolis Star-Tribune as the most pathetic response to the young Americans’ heroic deed:
Authorities laud European train passengers for averting attack by heavily armed man.

"Well, yeah, the wanted person no longer lived there, but it was too much trouble to find that out BEFORE the SWAT team kicked in the doors and terrified everyone; so shut up about it and stop causing problems."

These are the people who think they need to tell us what to eat, and how, and so forth.
Today’s comes to us from Florida, where the Ocheesee Creamery is being forced to dump gallons upon gallons of good, natural skim milk because the state is requiring the business to label its good, natural skim milk “imitation” because they haven’t added anything to it.
There's more.  Lots more.

Sunday, August 23, 2015

On the subject of the dipshits at DHS, we can now count on

people using the trains to get more of the molestation and other abuse airplane passengers have been dealing with.

Because 'safety' and 'security'.  They require you to be felt up, abused, threatened, and your stuff stolen because you wanted to take a trip.

While we're talking about federally-run idiots, let's go to getting rid of the EPA, too:
Managers at the Environmental Protection Agency were aware of the possible risk for a catastrophic “blowout” at an abandoned mine that could release “large volumes” of wastewater laced with toxic metals, according to internal documents released late Friday.
As noted before, a engineer wrote about this a while BEFORE the idiocy happened; if you think these idiots weren't aware of the possibility...  And apparently weren't too worried about it:
Much of the text in the documents released Friday was redacted by EPA officials, according to The Associated Press. Among the items blacked out is the line in a 2013 safety plan for the Gold King job that specifies whether workers were required to have phones that could work at the remote site, which is more than 11,000 feet up a mountain.
Because why would you worry about someone being able to call out in the event of a problem?  Or a disaster?

Well, hell, why is this a surprise?  There were already reports that the company said it had migrated the data to another server before it wiped the original.  My question still stands: if the EffingBI actually cared about doing this right, why didn't that information result in a warrant for that other server, and anything else that might have had connection to it?

Further reason why DHS should be disbanded, and some of the personnel

horsewhipped in various town squares:
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had been keeping secret its release of illegal immigrants with violent criminal records from local law enforcement for at least two years, denying for a time that this was taking place, law enforcement officials disclosed to the Washington Free Beacon.
And just who are these dreamers Obama & Co. tell us we're unreasonably prejudiced about?
“As pressure mounted, ICE admitted they did release illegals with minor criminal offenses,” the law enforcements source said. “Eventually, they confirmed they did release violent criminal illegals including those convicted of murder, aggravated assault, robbery, kidnapping, and sex crimes.”
Just some poor foreigners committing the disgusting crimes Americans didn't, etc.
“Just today, we learned of three more individuals set free on law-abiding Arizonans by the Department of Homeland Security. Their crimes included the beating to death of a seven-week-old baby and the stabbing, beating, and immolation of a police informant.”
And these assholes turned them loose(why the HELL would you do that?), AND made sure the local authorities were not informed...

But don't worry, they're right on the job!
UPDATE: Following publication of this report, an ICE spokesperson told the Free Beacon that it has launched a pilot program in certain communities to notify local law enforcement of the release of “certain convicted aliens.”
Translation: "We got caught, and we've gotta do SOMETHING to pretend we give a damn about the people these illegals will kill and rape and such."
