It's Friday night,

and a bit cooler than I'd like, but still pretty nice.  So go over the data when you're done enjoying the weather.

Unless you're in Californicated.  Then you probably need the distraction.

USPS 'tracking'

"It only took three days for the item to reach the origin facility, and it's on time!"

Oh yeah, mail-in voting will be GREAT...

This. Is. CNN.

A CNN journalist deleted his tweet and issued an apology after being called out for spreading coronavirus misinformation by critics including former New York Times reporter Alex Berenson.

That's the start, I'm just going to quote a couple of the responses he got:
Berenson slammed Feldscher for sharing such alarming numbers.

"Fact check: you can’t be this dumb," Berenson reacted. "Even if the herd immunity estimate of 60% is right (it’s wrong), this CNN doesn’t know the difference between reported cases and actual infections, which are 10x as high. So his estimate is off by a factor of at least 10x (likely much more)."
...
Berenson commended Feldscher to taking ownership of his tweet but slammed his news organization for allowing "nonstop panic porn" throughout the pandemic.

"I'm glad he deleted the tweet. If only CNN could go back and delete the last six months of nonstop panic porn... But it's a start," Berenson told Fox News.

Yeah, but panic porn is their big thing, they actually try to stop they'll probably go into withdrawal.

About that range day,

One of the things shot was the .40-65 that has been mentioned before.  We'd worked up a load of a 400-grain bullet, .060 wad, and 57 grains of 2f Goex black powder fired by a Federal Large Rifle Magnum primer.  Generally shot pretty good.

Then, just as a 'give it a try', loaded some with 58.0 grains in Winchester cases.  And damn.

Eight rounds.  five damn near making one big hole, one about an inch outside, and two I have to blame on myself(last shooting before leaving, getting tired at that point) at 200 yards.  This is definitely going to be tried again.  Very carefully.

Had also loaded six with Starline brass,

Possible that the spread was my fault, especially with three almost in one hole, so it's on the list also.

And next time these'll be shot earlier when I'm not getting worn and a touch shoulder-sensitive

Be it noted- again- that the new Blogger sucks,

and the morons involved should be clubbed like a baby seal

Meanwhile, in multi-culti Sweden,

  • "The police must ensure that the criminals are arrested and can be prosecuted. The criminals need to disappear from our streets and squares so that no more ruthless crimes are committed... We work intensively, around the clock, despite this, the severe violence continues." — Sweden's National Police Chief Anders Thornberg, August 29, 2020.
  • Gothenburg's Ali Khan clan has been reported to the police more than 200 times but the police had to close almost all cases because the gang threatens the victims and witnesses to stay silent.
  • So how many other cities/counties/states are lying about the numbers?

    From Fox17:

The coronavirus cases on lower Broadway may have been so low that the mayor’s office and the Metro Health Department decided to keep it secret.

Emails between the mayor’s senior advisor and the health department reveal only a partial picture. But what they reveal is disturbing.

The discussion involves the low number of coronavirus cases emerging from bars and restaurants and how to handle that.

And most disturbingly, how to keep it from the public.

Hey, how can you convince people you're saving them(while destroying businesses and lives) if they know the truth?

    Range day was had,

and it was good.  Cool then warming a bit, mostly overcast, almost no wind, almost perfect for trying out some loads.

.45-70, for the rifle in question, using black powder and the old Lyman 500-grain round nose bullet is a fairly hard to beat combination.  I'm wondering if tweaking the OAL might tighten groups a touch, will have to try that.  Interestingly, the Lyman 525-grain Postell shoots best from that rifle with A5744 smokeless(at least so far, there could be some black/OAL/primer combination that would equal or better it).

.300 Blackout, that Hornady 190-grain Sub-X bullet over H4198 stays subsonic and gives good accuracy, and out of friend's Hybrid can it's amazingly quiet.

Guy I know bought a grail gun a few months ago, a double rifle in .450 Black Powder Express, and sent some pictures of finally getting to shoot it.  He's happy.  Now I've got to figure a way to try it out myself.

I need to transcribe some notes before I lose them, and get some cleaning done.

It seems CNN is promoting the idiot who lost most of his bicep in Kenosha

as the 'sole survivor of the shooting'.  And there is great whining about the pain, and stress, and so forth.

You are part of a group pursuing and attacking someone.

You and two others get shot.

Deal with it, you miserable socialist asshole.  You were part of the riot, you were armed and attacking, so my sympathies for you are non-existent.

    Scene from the range

No specifics, but I'll tell you something:
Talking to someone who's never or only once before fired a gun, helping them calm and get more comfortable with it, and then watching them put a very nice group on paper... that's rewarding.  Very.

Someone in Poland decided to step up that remembrance of the past
