Yes, it's the last day of the week, and

the new study material has arrived

Investigate? Fine. THIS is bullshit.

Documents obtained by Tony Webster show Special Agent Bill O'Donnell issued a warrant to Facebook for "all information retained" by the company on Diamond Reynolds, Castile's girlfriend. This was to include all email sent or received by that account, as well as "chat logs," which presumably means the content of private messages. The warrant also demands any communications that may have been deleted by Reynolds, as well as metadata on photos or videos uploaded to Facebook. It came accompanied with an indefinite gag order
'Indefinite'.  Isn't that interesting?

Way to go, guys.

The promised rain didn't show,

and the front didn't exactly cool things off, so... inside sounds good right now.

Why I call it the EffingBI:

The FBI admits that Hodgkinson:
vociferously raged against Republicans in online forums,

had a piece of paper bearing the names of six members of Congress,

was reported for doing target practice outside his home in recent months before moving to Alexandria,

had mapped out a trip to the DC area,

took multiple photos of the baseball field he would later shoot up, three days after the New York Times mentioned that Republicans practiced baseball at an Alexandria baseball field with little security,

Etc., etc.  Followed by
...“FBI: Gunman who shot congressman had no target in mind.” The Associated Press reported the FBI:
believes the gunman “had no concrete plan to inflict violence” against Republicans, “had not yet clarified who, if anyone, he planned to target, or why,”

believes he may have just “happened upon” the baseball game the morning of June 14, and that the attack appeared “spontaneous,”

are unclear on the “context” of Hodgkinson’s note with six names of members of Congress,
Etc.

And we're supposed to trust these bastards about ANYTHING?

So the EffingBI has made it plain that it'll play politics with just about anything.  Which means ANYTHING they touch cannot be trusted.  Congratulations, you clowns, you've taken what used to be a very trusted LE agency and turned it into one more bunch of partisan jerkis.

It's actually coming out!

'Bout time, Dog.

The 'New Normal'

At least as the SJBs would like it to be.
When we are attacked by radical Islamic terrorists, the Left whitewashes it and hand waves it away.  Nothing to see here, don’t be an Islamophobe.

When Antifa is punching people and calling them NAZIS, the Mayor of Berkeley supports them, and gives police the order not to interfere with their actions.  Then the media explains why in the age of Trump, Left Wing violence is justified.

And when there is an attempted mass murder of Republican members of Congress, the Republicans were asking for it with their support of gun rights and healthcare reform.  Maybe even a few more should be killed.

This cannot be the new normal.

The Left cannot stack the bodies high and then explain it all away.
They're damned well trying.  With a lot of the major media helping.  If it weren't for the internet...

Speech in (fG)Britain; sure as hell not free

The number of people being arrested for “online crimes of speech” have increased dramatically in London.

While arrests for aggressive, threatening or hateful speech on social media declined between 2010 and 2013, the numbers rose last year.

According to the Register, a total of 2,500 Londoners have been arrested over the past five years for allegedly sending “offensive” messages via social media. In 2015, 857 people were detained, up 37 per cent increase since 2010.
'Offensive', that could cover an awful lot.  And it does.
The Communications Act 2003 defines illegal communication as “using public electronic communications network in order to cause annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety”. Breaking the law carries a six-month prison term or fine of up to £5,000.
In other words, just about ANYTHING you say that's not PC, or that some victim group can claim triggers them, ANYTHING not approved by someone in authority can get you arrested.

For a Facebook post.  For a Twitter comment.  Anything.

Anyone doubt, at all, that the leftists taking over colleges and assaulting people for unapproved opinions would freaking LOVE to be able to do this?

About the Philandro Castile shooting, and that damned verdict

Anarchangel has had some thoughts he's posted on Facebook, and he also linked to this piece.  Seems to cover things nicely.  I'm going to borrow three parts:

The bigger mistake, in my opinion, was made by Officer Yanez.  He appeared to panic when confronted by the fact that the driver he stopped was armed and didn’t seem to be paying proper attention to his verbal commands.  He probably didn’t need to shoot Mr. Castile, but I feel reasonably certain that the officer felt that he had no other option.  That is the predictable result of poor training, possibly combined with poor hiring practices on the part of Officer Yanez’ agency.  People prone to panic should not be hired as cops.  All cops should be given quality force on force training so that they know how to handle incidents like this without reflexively firing their weapons in abject fear.  Unfortunately, both problems are likely to persist in the face of ever-shrinking government budgets.

On being an armed citizen dealing with cops,
It’s sad, but it’s probably safest for the armed citizen to assume that the cop will be poorly trained and might get scared at your notification.  Do everything possible to keep things calm and avoid making any potentially threatening motions or statements.  There’s no guarantee that this will keep you safe, but it’s the best advice I can provide.

And on cops dealing with armed citizens,
If you are scared of legally armed citizens with CCW permits and you freak out because someone has a gun, you simply aren’t confident in your own abilities.  That’s a huge problem.  When you aren’t skilled and confident, you get scared and you over react.  Freaked out cops don’t make good decisions.  When cops don’t make good decisions, they end up on the national news.
And someone winds up dead, crippled or in a hospital when they shouldn't have.

I found some of the Range Safety Officer memories

And here's some of them:
A shooting range is the perfect place to point a pistol at a boyfriend's face and make "pew, pew" noises - everyone will think you're really cute and laugh.

Texans are born with expert gun-handling in their DNA, so they "don't need no darned help", dummy - tsk

Spray-painted jeans, 4-inch heels and a top which reveals a tattoo reading "I do it for $$$" is totally appropriate fashion for a shooting lesson.

A double-tap from a 50-cal Desert Eagle which sends the second bullet through the ceiling is totally understandable if you simply tell the range officer "Dude, I'm the best in my clan online using a Deagle, so like, chill out, I know what I'm doing". Like, who wouldn't fail to admire a guy such as that?

3 people can totally fit into a 2-person space - as long as the person in the middle shoots at both targets so as to hit the walls on both sides of the range.

If the pistol won't fire, it's totally natural to turn it sideways and peer at the lettering on the slide - the guys yelling at you about "flagging" are just worry-warts who are too tense and shouldn't even be allowed near a shooting range.

It's perfectly all right to allow a child to carry your firearms and even shoot them while you run off to the bathroom - everyone else at the range will keep an eye on your child for you because they really have nothing better to do. Also, any person who points that it's a crime for you to allow your child to handle a firearm without you being present is obviously an idiot.

It's perfectly acceptable to offer your girlfriend's "favors" in exchange for more ammunition once you've shot your lone box of 25. Similarly, it's the done thing to offer this same honour when the owner of a range asks you to leave because you exited your vehicle with a beer in your hand - he'll definitely change his mind at that offer.

Safety rules are for old farts and sissies - nobody ever died at a shooting range.

It's ok to walk up to the firing line with a concealed and fully-loaded firearm - everyone will admire the fact that you can conceal a full-size cocked 'n' locked 1911 under your shirt when you casually whip it out and plunk it down on the table while they're downrange changing targets during a ceasefire. Range officers love surprises such as that and will want to learn more from you.

Wearing a tac-vest to the range means you're a real operator - everybody knows that. Bonus points if it's a real "Blackhawk!" vest, and double-bonus points if you also have a sheathed knife tied to your thigh.

The police officer's badge on your belt means that you can over-ride the range officers any time you want, because you're a trained professional. Threatening to arrest them when they won't bow to your authority will earn the respect of everyone present and ensure the immediate cooperation of the range officer (HA!).
