February in Oklahoma:

Day before yesterday up in the 70's, yesterday 50's, today 40's, then back up a bit.  Which often makes for 'stay in' evenings.  Which this is, for other reasons as well.  So, nice to sit back and look over the information

"We're all gonna DIE!

Someday."
Although the risk is slight, it might be a good time to check your supply of food and fresh water. That's because the region is entering a period when the risk of a megathrust Cascadia subduction zone earthquake is slightly higher.

An 18-year-old New York woman has been charged with two criminal counts after allegedly making false rape accusations that led to two men leaving Sacred Heart University.
Good.  She SHOULD be prosecuted.  She was willing to destroy two people with this lie.  And why?
The detective then filed an affidavit, which stated in part, “(s)he admitted that she made up the allegation of sexual assault against (the football players) because it was the first thing that came to mind and she didn’t want to lose (another male student) as a friend and potential boyfriend.”
Yeah, that's a GREAT reason to trash two lives.  And now three, if you include her own.

And now, on a good night for studying

because it's turned chilly on its way to cold, we have the current batch of data.

"My boyfriend isn't white, so I'm not either!"

Yes, it has become that stupid.

So in Denmark you can go to jail for blasphemy.  I can think of some people who'd love to be able to make that charge here.

Meanwhile, in Californicated,
A Republican legislator and Vietnamese refugee was dragged from the state Senate floor Thursday morning when a Democratic leader ordered her removed after she tried to criticize the late Tom Hayden, a former state senator and vocal opponent of the war in Vietnam.

Speaking of 'accidentally telling people what we really think',

BRZEZINSKI: “Well, I think that the dangerous, you know, edges here are that he is trying to undermine the media and trying to make up his own facts. And it could be that while unemployment and the economy worsens, he could have undermined the messaging so much that he can actually control exactly what people think. And that, that is our job.”
So we have a choice: she worded this badly, or she slipped and let the truth out of what she believes.  And if she believes that, she's just one more Democrat operative with a byline, and should be considered such.

Following in the steps of (formerly Great)Britain is the PROM:

"Some people have used a glass as a weapon, so WE MUST BAN GLASS GLASSES IN BARS!"

My, how Soviet of them.  Just change 'commissars' to 'Bias Response Teams' so as to disguise things a bit.

This is what happens when a LE agency- especially a federal one- figures it can get away

with doing whatever the hell it wants.
Working from an office suite behind a Burger King in southern Virginia, operatives used a web of shadowy cigarette sales to funnel tens of millions of dollars into a secret bank account. They weren’t known smugglers, but rather agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives

The operation, not authorized under Justice Department rules, gave agents an off-the-books way to finance undercover investigations and pay informants without the usual cumbersome paperwork and close oversight, according to court records and people close to the operation.
Gee, how many problems can you see with that?
The secret account is at the heart of a federal racketeering lawsuit brought by a collective of tobacco farmers who say they were swindled out of $24 million. A pair of A.T.F. informants received at least $1 million each from that sum, records show.
So they're not just crooked and unethical in dealing with people owning/manufacturing/buying firearms, they're crooked on tobacco, too.

Hey, Denver Sheriff's Office:

I hope the family of the murder victim goes after you in every way possible.  You suck, and you have blood on your hands.

Y'know, someday we may find out just how many people have been robbed/beaten/raped/murdered by dirtbags like this because some asshats turned them loose.  And the reaction won't be pretty.

On the subject of Japanese-American internment in WWII,

from a thread on Facebook, a bit from Mr. Correia on the subject:
The internment was absolute bullshit. If there were 6k collaborators yelling banzai, then you've got probable cause to believe those individuals are a threat to national security.

For the rest? Yeah, apparently fuck those guys. As an added bonus as y
ou are ignoring their civil liberties you also get to confiscate all of their valuable property in one of the now most lucrative real estate markets in the US (which conveniently went to democrat developers).

What about the Japanese in the rest of the US? Do they own orchards we can build suburbs on? No? Meh. Leave them.

During this all the republicans and half the democrats were saying WTF but they couldn't do shit during a war against a popular populist authoritarian administration, without getting labeled as weak on the war. It took a while for it to make it through the courts.

Somebody said at least Manzanar was safe? And otherwise there would have been lynchings? Extra bullshit. Because there were SO MANY other lynchings across America of Japanese and Germans. That's America, always with the lynchings.

I would invite anybody who thinks the internment was so great to go visit Topaz during the winter and imagine living in a shack there. Here's a hint. It really sucks. However bad you think it is, it is actually worse.

Looking at video of the Oroville dam,

assuming the dam doesn't fail, when things dry up they're going to have to completely rebuild the main spillway, and the emergency- assuming they don't cover it with words- will have to be redone as well.

On the main, that hole enlarged, more of the face collapsed, and the side collapsed, so the water's shooting over that side; the damage on the hill is bad.  Bloody awful mess.

History.  Messy, it is.  Especially when asshats have spent decades teaching crap instead of the facts, warts and all.
Throughout 1941, the U.S. frequently intercepted reports of resident aliens and Japanese Americans providing information to Japanese agents. In a decrypted message on May 9, for example, a Japanese agent in Los Angeles reports, “We have already established contact with absolutely reliable Japanese in the San Pedro and San Diego area, who will keep a close watch on all shipments of airplanes and other war materials …. We shall maintain connection with our second generations who are at present in the [U.S.] Army, to keep us informed of various developments in the Army. We also have connections with our second generations working in airplane plants for intelligence purposes.”
...
Honda’s resolution follows the Carter commission in ignoring the critical revelations of MAGIC and mistakenly conflates “internment” and “relocation.” The great majority of Japanese were not interned but required only to relocate outside of the Western Defense Zone, an area that included California, the western halves of Oregon and Washington, and a small portion of Arizona. Those who were not able to move were eventually taken to relocation centers, built with the same materials and on similar patterns as Army bases.

Japanese could leave a relocation center if they could reestablish themselves outside of the Defense Zone, and some 35,000 did so. Those who relocated on their own by the end of March 1942 did not go to the centers. More than 4,300 Japanese left to go to college at government expense and thousands left to work on farms. Meanwhile, in the relocation centers the death rate was lower and the birth rate higher than that of the general American population.

Yeek.
The Congolese refugee had applied for asylum in Berlin, Germany, where he is alleged to have carried out the brutal killing.

The man – identified by authorities as Yve M – is accused of stabbing his girlfriend 30 times in the stomach and chest before beheading the corpse.

Prosecutors claim he then cut off her little finger from her right hand and her left arm before decorating her body.

A 3-D printed suppressor.  That seems to work quite well.  Really reinforces 'Can't stop the signal, Mal', doesn't it?

Ah, if only the law on importing such weren't so stupid.

No idea what the lyrics say,

but I like it

The short version is 'Nothing but total surrender

will shut the SJBs up.  For a while.  Until they start telling you who to hire and fire.'
Not everyone is happy about Yale’s decision to rename Calhoun College from a slaveowner and white supremacist to a feminist icon, Rear Adm. Grace Murray Hopper. The loudest outcry comes not from anyone wishing to preserve history, but from the Yale Women’s Center, which claims that choosing a white woman ignores Yale’s history of slavery and perpetuates white supremacy.
Yeah.  That's the problem.  Bullshit.  Because when a Woman of Colour was invited,
Last year, the women’s center objected to a visit by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who was set to lecture on “Islam and the West.” Ali, a Somali-born women’s rights activist and fierce critic of religious extremism, has faced blowback from social justice activists for being critical of political Islam.

The women’s center, along with several other student organizations, urged the university to disinvite Ali. They argued that she “does not hold the credentials” to speak as an authority on the religion despite being a scholar and researcher on political Islam.
She wasn't a proper Womyn of Colour, because she doesn't have the PC-approved beliefs.  Etc.
