This one is on time

Before & after

the stripping.  Stock & rear handguard
After
The front handguard was the test piece, so it'd already been treated before I took the picture.

Right now all three are soaking up some linseed, and I think they're going to look great after drying.

Due to working late, the data dump for last night didn't get dumped

Here 'tis

More on "How stupid can the left become"

Let’s put this into perspective: women are having action taken against them because they refused to touch a penis and testicles. So warped has the language of rights become, in particular transgender rights, that a born male can take action against women because they refused to wax him.
And the nutcase is hailed as a 'hero of the transgender movement' for doing it.  Never mind the abuse involved, never mind that said 'hero' turns out to have a thing for underage girls, those things don't count.

The chief should be fired,

the officers who forced into the house without a warrant(especially after The wife said she heard several officers noting her husband clearly was not the clean-shaven man seen in the video.) should be fired and criminally prosecuted(and I do wonder if kidnapping could be one of the charges), the social worker fired from the sound of it.  And the city manager needs a kick in the ass at the very least for praising the chief for 'her integrity'.

And they'll wonder why so many of the public don't trust or respect them...

I needed to strip the varnish off an old military stock and handguards

without damaging the cartouches left.  After talking to various people, I decided to try Citristrip.

That stuff works.  Tried it on the forward handguard first; brushed it on, let it sit about 15 minutes, then tried a plastic scraper on it.  The varnish was already melting and coming off.

So hit the rear handguard and the stock with it, let it sit about a half hour, and the stuff just scraped off.  Easily.  Used a cloth and some mineral spirits to clean the surface, and found a couple of places that still had some varnish; hit those spots again, scraped a while later, cleaned, and the wood looks great.  I'll let it dry a couple of days, then oil it.  Should look about original.

It's nice to find stuff that actually works.

Rocket-assisted shell, 39 mile range;

At some point the Army's going to have to name some of this stuff the Slammer or the Drake, because we're getting closer to Hammer's Regiment all the time.

How effing nuts has the left become?

In that same tweet-storm, scorning two pro-Pelosi columns by The New York Times’ Maureen Dowd, Attiah added that Pelosi, Dowd, and Trump (!) have formed an “axis of shevil”—that is, an alliance for “white supremacy [that] relies on dismissing, silencing, and undermining women of color.” Attiah surmised that the goal of this axis is “putting [the Squad] in their place by any means necessary.”

We might pause over those comments: did a top editor at the Post really say that Pelosi was pursuing “white supremacy” in league with Trump? Yes, she really did: that’s the MSM this days, after its “Great Awokening.”
This is... going to be interesting.

Wonder how Pelosi and others like having this crap thrown at them?  Especially since they thought they were immune("That's what we call THOSE people, you're not supposed to call US that!")

Attention: People selling stuff on Gunbroker

Y'know, when someone interested in possibly sending you money asks a question about an item, giving them a damned answer just might be a good idea.

Sincerely, etc.

Range day,

and there was rejoicing.

Main thing I was testing today was some black powder loads in .45-70; specifically the Lyman Postell bullet over 66.0 grains of Goex 2f.  If you want every detail, used a .060" thick wad between powder and bullet, and tried with both magnum and standard primers.

Fairly steady northerly wind today, and it showed, pushing these a bit to the south at 200.  I fired one fouling shot before shooting for groups.
Magnum primers
The one on the bottom right is the fouling shot, and I think I got two through one hole in that cluster right-center.  That one to the right I don't know if my fault, or just how it happened.  Need to try this load again.

Standard primers

Here I think I messed up somehow, because there's only four holes and none of them look like a double.  So where the 5th went, I don't know.  Othewise, a good group*.

I also had some loads using a 500-grain round-nose bullet from a Lyman mold, same 20-1 alloy as the Postells above.  And I have no idea where they hit.  Something badly off, and I need to figure out what.

Had a chance to shoot something interesting today, a US Rifle Model 1917.
Very short version: when we got into WWI, Springfield couldn't make enough 1903 rifles.  Several companies were making P14 rifles in .303 for the Brits.  Found could bore & chamber for .30-06, and modify the bolt face slightly, and it worked well.  And had better sights than the '03.  Wound up with more US troops carrying these than carried Springfields.

And, I discovered, this is a LOT easier on the shoulder than the 1903s I've fired.  One fine rifle.  A P14 and a 1917 would make a good pair, they could talk to each other about old times.

The other stuff fired today was some zeroing and zero checking.

Now I need to clean things, and give my shoulder a rest.

*Yeah, yeah, I know.  Shut up.

You expected better from antifa & Co.?

Who is Charlotte Clymer? She is an activist who works at the Human Rights Campaign, America’s “largest LGBTQ civil rights organization,” which supposedly “envision[s] a world where LGBTQ people are ensured equality at home, at work [and] in every community.” Andy Ngo, who has written for Quillette, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Post and other publications, happens to be gay. So this is where we are right now: A staffer for a human-rights organization dedicated to helping gay people is publicly cheering the beating of a gay man. This should raise an eyebrow.
Ah, but he's a gay man who doesn't believe and speak in the approved ways; therefore beating him into a brain bleed and stealing his gear is justified.
