A couple of tech things that came to mind
They're running a new gas line down the street(both sides) and instead of cutting a trench(followed by rebuilding streets and driveways) they use a boring tool that cuts at an angle- and the bit is steerable- so they dig a hole to start it in, holes every so far to check alignment, make the hole and then pull the line through(some kind of polymer, weatherproof and tough as hell). Some of the digging being done by a backhoe that would almost fit in the back of my truck(God, there have been times I'd have loved the use of that!).
The other is my mother had her second eye surgery Tuesday to take care of cataracts. First one was last month: go to the doc, and about two hours later Dad drives her home; couple of followup checks and that's it. Not only are the cataracts out of the way, now she'll only need reading glasses.

It shows up in all the google hits but when I click on those articles, it’s nowhere to be found. Looks like AP scrubbed it from all copies of the article! Nothing like a compliant media, eh? Hope you got a screenshot.
In fact, I did. And a good thing, because the story’s been almost completely rewritten. But the “memory hole” doesn’t work very well any more. Among the reasons I think A: the UN can collectively
kiss my ass and B: why we should throw that organization out of this country is this:

Having gotten that bit of bile out of my system
(for the moment), reason for more off & on than usual is son was home on leave for a few days; transferring to a new base/unit and took a couple of extra days so could visit.
Various people have written a lot of things about what being a parent does to you*; among those things are kids who start off something like this
hit being more like this
and wind up something like this
In daughters case, starting with things like this
and going(somewhat more recently) to this:
That's her on the right. Over the years everything from "YEEEEEEE!" at either happiness or something gross to a phone call during the first deployment:
"I no longer have a truck."
"What? It's in the drivew-"
"No, my truck here."
"Oh." Pause. "What happened to it?"
"It blew up."
Or, in daughter's case, the aforementioned screaming to "I got the house!" Definitely exciting, just less traumatic.
Which is all leading up to, after son headed to the new location, I missed Medieval Fair for the first time in about 30 years because
Just walking around talking to people and seeing performances isn't the same as being there working the forge and(more importantly)
Dad wanted to go to the Tulsa Arms Show; so we went.
Had a moment during the weekend of that two-sided vision: knowing that some of the things I feel about my kids now are the same one's he and Mom have been dealing with for a long time, just change the names.
In any case: the show was good(usually is). Crowded as hell Saturday, less so Sunday, everything from .22 single-shot rifles to .50 single-shots, ammo and drillings and double rifles to books and knives and general stuff. Good weekend, and I'm beat; all that walking around on concrete is a bit more wearing than the standing and walking on grass at the Fair all those years. And I get home and take a look at the interwebs and find
Idiot politicians excusing savages and murderers for not acting like civilized people,
" " talking about scrapping our freedom of speech so as not to offend the savages,
An idiot politician screwing our energy supplies and working to put us further in debt to others for energy**,
And, as kind of a capstone, reading this absolute flaming idiocy and abdication of personal responsibility in the name of handing lives over into the hands of a politician who's either an absolute incompetent or very competent at working to damage this nation(which my kids have to live in) because these people are either too brain-damaged, too stupid or too dedicated to their cause to say "Mr. President, what the HELL is wrong with you?"
I also find that the people involved in Gunwalker are the same ones who've screwed over the actual cops in the agency, over and over and over. And are now, along with their enablers(handlers?) at DOJ are telling Congress to go away and stop bothering them over a bunch of smuggled guns and dead Mexicans and a few dead Americans. And these bastards are screwing over the country my kids and yours are going to inherit IF it still exists as the United States of America.
More on the show later. Right now, having vented a certain amount of upset I need a shower and some sleep in my own bed.
*I'm reminded of some western in which a guy thinks one of his sons is dead, finds out he wasn't and belts him: "What was that for?!?" "That's for scaring me out of ten years growth, WHICH I CANNOT SPARE!"

DHS Attorney Reid Cox attempted to leave the room with the Committee’s exhibits in his bag. Committee staff asked Cox if he had the exhibits in his bag, and he confirmed that he did. Cox was admonished by Republican and Democratic staff that he was not permitted to leave with the exhibits. Democratic staff advised Cox that the exhibits are Committee documents and as such, they are the property of the Committee and cannot be removed without permission. Cox explained that the Department disagreed with that position and he moved toward the door. Republican staff advised Cox to leave the exhibits and contact the Committee to discuss the matter. I've thought of buying a laptop a few times, but if I do Updated
it looks like Samsung is NOT under consideration:
The supervisor who spoke with me was not sure how this software ended up in the new laptop thus put me on hold. He confirmed that yes, Samsung did knowingly put this software on the laptop to, as he put it, "monitor the performance of the machine and to find out how it is being used." In other words, Samsung wanted to gather usage data without obtaining consent from laptop owners. While in the Sony BMG security incident described in the first article in this pair one had to buy and install the CD on one's computer, Samsung has gone one step further by actually preinstalling the monitoring software on its brand laptops. This is a déjà vu security incident with far reaching potential consequences. In the words of the of former FTC chairman Deborah Platt Majoras, "Installations of secret software that create security risks are intrusive and unlawful." (FTC, 2007).
Update: Now they're saying it was a case of security software misidentifying a file; question then is why the supervisor at Samsung said it WAS what the guy suspected?

Why so many police officers have such a sucky attitude?
One course I attended used the example of a person employed as a plumber being the target of a search warrant. In this example, the officers were told how to use his employment as a plumber as further evidence of terrorism. The suspect’s employment would be described as an elaborate scheme to justify possessing pipes and chemicals so as to have bomb making materials readily available. Based on this example, all plumbers are potential pipe bomb makers. All gun dealers are plotting to provide arms to gangs or terrorists. All pest control companies are preparing mass poisonings. By using this logic, simply having the ability to do something criminal automatically makes the person guilty of plotting the crime. With all the various methods of manufacturing methamphetamine, it would also be easy to claim that a disassembled clandestine drug lab was located during the search. In other words, it is easy to frame anyone for possessing bomb making materials (or other crimes) if the officer knows what items to list in the report and how to link these items to terrorism.
And why would such 'training' be happening? Who'd want to do this?
During the past several years, I have witnessed a dramatic shift in the focus of law enforcement training. Law enforcement courses have moved away from a local community focus to a federally dominated model of complete social control. Most training I have attended over the past two years have been sponsored by Department of Homeland Security (DHS), namely the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
No matter what topic the training session concerns, every DHS sponsored course I have attended over the past few years never fails to branch off into warnings about potential domestic terrorists in the community. While this may sound like a valid officer and community safety issue, you may be disturbed to learn how our Federal government describes a typical domestic terrorist.
Go read the whole thing. Remember cases in the past where some ATF agent would find a piece of header pipe or exhaust pipe and charge the guy with making illegal silencers? Same thing, except your reloading or craft materials can be used to 'prove' you're a domestic terrorist.
Methods of developing evidence of terrorist activity from virtually any search have also been discussed. Various common materials which may be associated with homemade explosives are listed, such as lengths of pipe, gunpowder, matches, flammable liquids and fireworks. Officers are told when these items are found, they can be listed as “bomb making materials”. The training even goes so far as to instruct officers that the items are cleverly disguised as legitimate, such as gasoline stored near a lawn mower, pipes stored in a shop building or gunpowder stored with reloading materials.

Why, Mr. Melson, did you chicken out?
Kenneth Melson, Acting Director of ATF, was scheduled to testify before the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on Western Hemisphere, Peace Corps, and Global Narcotics Affairs this Thursday. I even speculated that this would be a great time for the Senators to grill Mr. Melson about Operation Fast and Furious.
Mr. Melson must have had the same thought because he has decided not to testify. Moreover, no one from either ATF or the Justice Department are on the new list of witnesses.
Isn't that a surprise?
Sharyl Attkisson of CBS News contacted the Subcommittee for more information on why Melson will not be testifying.
"You want me to get in front of these people and answer questions? You KNOW what they'll ask about!"

These Soldiers were also with 5/2 SBCT, far away from the “Kill Team” later accused of the murders. Rolling Stone commits a literary “crime” by deceptively entwining this normal combat video with the Kill Team story. The Taliban on the motorcycle were killed during an intense operation in the Arghandab near Kandahar City. People who have been to the Arghandab realize the extreme danger there. The Soviets got beaten horribly in the Arghandab, despite throwing everything including the Soviet kitchen sink into the battle that lasted over a month. Others fared little better. To my knowledge, 5/2 and supporting units were the first ever to take Arghandab, and these two dead Taliban were part of that process.

Here's an idea, guys: Tell them not to come here illegally and they won't have to worry about the traffickers and other unscrupulous profiteers. Tell them not to break the law and they won't have to be fearful of the laws on illegal immigration. And tell the bastards, as I'm telling you, that we have no intention of rewarding them for breaking our laws by letting them jump ahead of people who came here LEGALLY and actually want to be citizens.
In case you missed it, they've actually talked to a bunch of the illegals and they don't WANT to become Americans; they want us to accommodate them in every way and would really like to invade large parts of the southwestern US and take it over for Mexico. So screw you, Archbishop and Bishop, and all your "We must be nice to them" crap.

One of the finest mornings and rides I ever had
was several years ago. I'd been in Dallas and had to head back early morning. Right on the edge of cool/warm, clear skies, light wind, and almost no other traffic on the road. I came up I35 with the Vulcan running smooth, holding at about 80. It was glorious.

But who? In an exclusive interview with CBS News, the lead ATF official in Mexico at the time Darren Gil says somebody in the Justice Department did know about the case. Gil says his supervisor at ATF's Washington D.C. headquarters told him point-blank the operation was approved even higher than ATF Director Kenneth Melson.
"Is the director aware of this," Gil asked the supervisor. Gil says his supervisor answered "Yes, the director's aware of it. Not only is the director aware of it, D.O.J.'s aware of it... Department of Justice was aware of it."
Gil goes on to say senior Justice official Lanny Breuer and several of his deputies visited Mexico amid the controversy last summer, and spoke to ATF staff generally about a big trafficking case that they claimed was "getting good results." Gil says Melson, ATF's Acting Director, also visited Mexico City. Gil's Deputy Attache and his Analyst questioned Melson about the case that surrounding all the weapons showing up in Mexico. "His response was 'it's a good case, it's still going on,'" recalls Gil, "and we'll close it down as soon as we possibly can."
Now, can you imagine Holder NOT being aware of this? And if Holder was at least aware(if not giving orders or suggestions) Obama damn well knew.
"Well first of all I did not authorize it. Eric Holder the Attorney General did not authorize it. He's been very clear that our policy is to catch gun runners and put 'em into jail," Mr. Obama said of the controversial ATF operation called "Fast and Furious."
"You were not even informed about it?" asked Univision reporter Jorge Ramos.
"Absolutely not," said Mr. Obama. "There may be a situation here which a serious mistake was made and if that's the case then we'll find out and well hold somebody accountable."
Hmmm. Maybe the question isn't "Who" but "How many are going to be asked to go under that bus for Obama?"

Over at AM he's got a nice post about riding
and recharging. My problem is I'm so damned used to "I need to be at X by Y" that it's hard to just ride and enjoy it. But I'm working on it.
I'm still getting used to the VFR in some ways. This is the hottest bike I've ever owned, and I still haven't been in a place where it'd be relatively safe(other traffic, etc.) to really push it. The VTEC doesn't kick in on this thing until about 6800 rpm; considering that- in sixth- the thing is only turning about 6k at 90mph...
About the third week I had it was coming down a ramp to I44 and punched it a bit, and it half-scared me: I'm not used to a bike that makes the front end that light at 70-75 when you upshift and hit it. I think I hit about 7500 that night, but I'm not sure as I was too busy watching the highway I was approaching at higher-than-expected speed and the aforementioned front end that- I think- came a bit off the road to look at the tach. Happily the thing handles very well, making that a exciting-scary vs. "I'm going to die" moment. About a week after that I stopped by the shop where I bought it to ask about bags and spent a while talking to the lady; mentioned the feeling and she said "Yeah, when you crank it it can be hard to keep the front end down on those", with an approving smile.
Realistically this bike has more power than I'll ever actually need, but I'd far rather have that than the alternative: ever been in a tight spot and not had the power to get the hell out of it fast? It sucks.
Oh, that 90mph? Got caught in some nasty(people changing lanes in too-tight spaces and such) traffic on I40 and decided to get clear and rolled on some throttle; when I was clear of it noticed- though it didn't feel that fast- the speed and tach. You want to see someone very skilled and flat insane on a bike, go to YouTube and search 'ghostrider' and watch some of the video. Scary as hell.
I'm still getting used to the VFR in some ways. This is the hottest bike I've ever owned, and I still haven't been in a place where it'd be relatively safe(other traffic, etc.) to really push it. The VTEC doesn't kick in on this thing until about 6800 rpm; considering that- in sixth- the thing is only turning about 6k at 90mph...
About the third week I had it was coming down a ramp to I44 and punched it a bit, and it half-scared me: I'm not used to a bike that makes the front end that light at 70-75 when you upshift and hit it. I think I hit about 7500 that night, but I'm not sure as I was too busy watching the highway I was approaching at higher-than-expected speed and the aforementioned front end that- I think- came a bit off the road to look at the tach. Happily the thing handles very well, making that a exciting-scary vs. "I'm going to die" moment. About a week after that I stopped by the shop where I bought it to ask about bags and spent a while talking to the lady; mentioned the feeling and she said "Yeah, when you crank it it can be hard to keep the front end down on those", with an approving smile.
Realistically this bike has more power than I'll ever actually need, but I'd far rather have that than the alternative: ever been in a tight spot and not had the power to get the hell out of it fast? It sucks.
Oh, that 90mph? Got caught in some nasty(people changing lanes in too-tight spaces and such) traffic on I40 and decided to get clear and rolled on some throttle; when I was clear of it noticed- though it didn't feel that fast- the speed and tach. “This scenario and supporting suspect profiles are only in the plan in order to define this FICTITIOUS INCIDENT as a domestic terrorism event and to provide simulated intelligence that responding law enforcement would want and/or eventually request during the event,” Reed wrote. “There will be NO role-playing of racist protests, slander or hate crimes during the actual exercise … the only thing being exercised is the RESPONSE to a shooting, we are not exercising events leading up to the shooting.”
So they had to make up this crap to get money from DHS? 'Simulate intelligence', etc.? Then why didn't the Superintendent know about it?

Not summer yet, but we got shark hysteria
Great White Yarmouth is the headline, first two paragraphs

Tooth-marks show that the bloodied mammal, a favourite food of great whites, was mauled in a feeding frenzy.
So a shark- POSSIBLY a white- kills a Flipper; this is big news?
Scientists could not rule out the man-killers being behind the attack on a stretch of coast popular for resorts like Great Yarmouth.
Or it might be one of the other kinds of sharks that eat things that swim.
The grim find was made just 26 miles from another suspected shark attack on a seal in 2008.

At the job I used to hold, we went through a long period of parts & replacement shortage combined with 'there ain't enough techs to handle everything in this building and all the other drops in short order', so even more than before trouble calls were classified into 1: they're down or dead and that's it, 2: this is a definite inconvenience but doesn't have to be fixed NOW, and 3: When we can get around to it.
Printers were generally a 2, as you could still run traffic, and if you really needed to print something almost everyone had other printers somewhere in the office or building; put the message on a disk or flash drive and go to it. But some people tended to see any problem of THEIRS as being a 1. A BIG 1. Which led to the call I'm thinking of; coming in toward the end,
"I've got the trouble ticket open, but like I said it'll be at least tomorrow, probably the day after before they can get out there."
"But we're very busy, and I need it fixed tonight!"
"We don't open priority 1 tickets on printers."
"What'm I supposed to do?!?", flash drive, etc. Steadily more unhappy dispatcher. Finally,
"I Want It Fixed Tonight!"
"I want my hair back, but that's not likely to happen either."
There was about three seconds of silence, then he hung up.
I waited about a week to see if my supervisor would wander back and ask "Did you say that? And why?", but he never did, so either the guy didn't bitch or supervisor, who was a pretty good guy, figured out the backstory.

We need to have a balance between public safety and the right to bear arms. Our constitution was designed to protect rights not take away from them. Let me know if I can ever be of service. I'm real close to despising Unique
The propellant, that is. It's very useful; for a number of cartridges and loads it's the 'go-to' stuff for best accuracy. And they improved it a few years back so it's a lot cleaner-burning. But it's still a pain in the ass.
I have yet to see a powder measure it'll go through and consistently give the same amount. You'll go along and get anywhere from two to a dozen exact measures and then you'll get one(or three, or five) that are light. Not just a touch, mind you, but tenths of a grain off. Occasionally more. And if you keep throwing charges and checking suddenly it'll be exactly on the setting again. And then may give a few that are slightly high.
Pain In The Ass.

The WSP has a rifle that is unaccounted for from our inventory and we cannot discount the possibility that it was stolen. Out of an abundance of caution, we opened a criminal investigation and entered the weapon into the statewide computer system as stolen. As we do in virtually every investigation, we sought information from people we considered knowledgeable, in this case, licensed gun dealers.
Really. Well, here's the letter:
So if they lost track of a rifle, and were just 'seeking information', why the HELL would they ask for all that information? As opposed to, say, "Have you seen this AR15, ser#X, in the past while?"
So, we have two choices: they lost a rifle and somebody panicked and asked for a bunch of information that A: they didn't need and B: was none of their damned business.
Or they went on a fishing expedition to start(or expand?) a database they've got no business having and got caught and this is their excuse. Either way, this looks like hell.

First, a mass-shooting at a school would be a number of things
but a 'disaster' it is not; second, is this really the best background they could think of?
I mean 'best' as in 'factual', not as in 'suits the current administrations and liberals personal bigotries'.
Students were sent home with permission slips to participate in the exercise. One parent whose daughter was slated to participate in the mock drill, after reading the proposed scenario, expressed concern over the scenario and its perceived anti-white, pro-illegal immigrant stance. He was told by the local EMS coordinator in charge that his daughter was no longer allowed to participate in the drill and that she nor her father were allowed to be on site on the day of the drill.

Why I think Energy Secretary Dr. Stephen Chu

Consider Sec. Chu’s 2008 comments and their implications: Gas at $10 a gallon, forcing Americans to buy “more-efficient” (small) cars, forcing Americans to live closer to work. These are the ideas of an Ivy-tower, self-styled elite who have never lived or worked in the real world, a world where only a small portion of the population can live within electric car range of work. Public transportation, by the way, is commonly available only in major metropolitan areas.
The cost of living in major urban areas is far greater than in much of the rest of the nation, and even if Americans were forced to move to urban areas in large numbers, there could not possibly be sufficient available jobs, to say nothing of decent, affordable housing. On the day this post was written, Mr. Obama was visiting the slums of Rio de Janeiro. If Sec. Chu had his way, such slums would surround all American cities and 10% unemployment would be looked upon with fond longing for the good old days. There are very good reasons why every American doesn’t live in an urban setting. For all of his education and apparent intellect, Sec. Chu seems unaware of this--or doesn’t care.

The tech that is currently used at airports, huh? What about related tech? You notice they don't say "We have not tested this type of technology and won't do it"; that'd be a flat denial with no wiggle room, whereas the actual denial...

A privacy assessment included in the documents for one aspect of the plans that focused on train security suggests that images wouldn’t be tied to any personally identifiable information such as a subject’s name. Any images shared outside the project or used for training purposes would have faces blurred, and employees using the system would be trained to avoid privacy violations, the document says. If the scanners were to adopt privacy enhancements deployed in new versions of the airport full body scanners currently being tested by the TSA, they would also use nondescript outlines of people rather than defined images, only showing items of interest on the subject’s body.
Translation: "Yes, we'd be doing warrantless searches at random but we promise your pictures that we take won't have personal information shown. So screw your 4th Amendment rights, we say we can do this." Trust in the TSA denial being decreased strongly by

Watching the people who savaged Bush and called his supporters warmongers and so on now faced with watching the Lightbringer doing basically the same thing, only less competently, is too good a pleasure to forego. Sorry. I hope that things will go well, but I agree with Niall Ferguson that Obama’s dithering has cost us. If we had elected a more competent President, we’d have fewer worries. But people got excited about Obama, and, well, this is what you get when you elect an inexperienced guy with no great interest — or any experience — in international relations.

About those $1 LED yard lights
and a suggestion in comments: in an no-electricity emergency have some that you charge during the day and bring in at night. So the other night I brought that one in and turned off all the lights to see how it did.
Better than a candle, more light spread around. The bad thing was that the faceted(?) globe around it broke the light up into vertical bars, good enough to walk around or sit with but I'd hate to have to do any kind of work with it. If you could find some with smooth globes, that'd be much nicer for the purpose.

I'm pretty damn sick of "I don't want to be a hypocrite!" being the excuse
parents use for not laying down rules for their kids and saying 'NO' when called for.
So here we are, the feminist and postfeminist and postpill generation. We somehow survived our own teen and college years (except for those who didn't), and now, with the exception of some Mormons, evangelicals and Orthodox Jews, scads of us don't know how to teach our own sons and daughters not to give away their bodies so readily. We're embarrassed, and we don't want to be, God forbid, hypocrites.
Jennifer Moses, you have a definition problem: if you were telling your daughter not to dress like a hooker and sleep around while you were doing it, THAT would be hypocritical; for you to say "I and people I know made the mistake you're making, and I'm not going to help you make it now" means "I grew up, I learned what a damned mistake that was; so I'm telling you "No, you will NOT go out dressed that way" ."
Few years back I heard one of the periodic "I don't want to be a hypocrite" whines from someone who found out their kid was doing drugs and didn't want to come down on them because they'd used drugs when they were a teenager; they'd realized it was a bad idea, they didn't want to watch their kid screw up the same way but they had the same definition problem. And the current lack of guts that prevents so many parents from laying down the law.

The Democrats need to do what is right in this situation. This is one of those scenarios in American politics where the smartest, most intuitive citizens need to force legislation upon the people, even when it is not the popular choice. The leadership roles that Congress and the President have taken oaths to uphold need to make decisions that are blatantly and obviously the correct ones, which will make for a safer country. A safer country, even when many citizens do not have the intellectual abilities to understand that it is the safest choice for them.
Got that? You don't support registration/bans because you're not intellectually capable of understanding what's good for you; so the Smart Peopletm need to force these laws on you.

The whole case is disgusting; that someone who professes to be a lawman of the United States would take part in it is even more so. These people should be fired, and should be personally liable- as well as the agency being liable- for this idiocy.
They actually testified that they had to completely rework the rifle to make it behave as they wanted. And expected that admission to help them get a conviction. These people belong in cells for a few years as well as being sued into oblivion for this.
President Obama yesterday praised Brazil for its new offshore oil industry and said he wants to buy as much oil as possible in this new win-win partnership — although we have piled up $5 trillion in new debt, curtailed new petroleum exploration off shore and in the West, as well as kept Alaska off-limits. Our near-term energy future apparently lies in borrowing money to buy oil from those we praise for drilling where we never would ourselves.
More reason why PBS should be cut off from public money:
Someone at its Frontline website has been substituting fake biographies of conservatives written by an organization called Right Web for legitimate institutional biographies. Right Web is a project of the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS), a think tank whose scholars’ positions range from left wing to Marxist. When challenged about inaccuracies on the dossiers he compiles of “right wing militarists,” the editor of Right Web e-mailed that even when no evidence supports his allegations, corrections of his slanders would require proving his allegations wrong, an impossible standard that is also embraced by conspiracy theorists like the LaRouchies, 9/11 revisionists, and Birthers. Right Web is also among the worst Google manipulators in the political realm.
The only proper response to this letter would be "Dear Detective & Captain: Fuck you. And no. Sincerely,"
And on that "Were do the cartels get weapons?" question, among other answers is

The El Paso Times has a story based on a Wikileaks leaked diplomatic message. It reports that businessmen in Juarez hired eight Zetas for protection, and Zetas got guns from the army in exchange for a truce with the Zetas and promises of assistance against rival cartels:
"According to the contact, (the source)," the cable states, " 'Zetas' paid a visit on local military commanders when they arrived in Juárez in September 2008, and purchased previously-seized weapons from the army garrison the former 'Zetas' pledged not to target the army, and made themselves available to the army for extrajudicial operations."

Gary Gunstone stalked the woman through the streets of Bideford, North Devon, just after midnight as she walked to her parents home after visiting her boyfriend.
The 15-stone brute dragged her to the ground and raped her in full view of passing drivers.
The worse:
The judge said Gunstone had raped the woman just two weeks after his jail licence had expired for a previous sex attack which had 'spine chilling' similarities to this attack.
What the HELL?
Mr Laws said Gunstone was jailed for 12 months in August 2009 at Exeter Crown Court for a sexual assault on a woman in very similar circumstances.
In that case he dragged her to the ground in Barnstaple, North Devon , and attacked her even though she was with her sister who tried to fight him off.
He said the similarities were that Gunstone had been drinking in each case, both attacks were in the early hours, and both ignored the danger of being seen.
So after that he was in jail for a whole year? That's IT? I wonder if they'll make him stay the whole time, or if they'll find some excuse to release him after, oh, 1.5 years this time? And then he can rape the next one.
Pieces of walking crap like this get out of prison in stupid-short times, and since in (fG)Britain nowadays you can wind up in jail and sued for coming to the defense of someone(want to bet that of anyone who saw this happening that's why they didn't do anything?) and self-defense can get you jailed...

Danny Bakewell, chairman of the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA), a federation of more than 200 Black-owned newspapers, is demanding justice.
“If the NAACP desires to advertise with the White press, they need to understand and experience the repercussions of going outside of their ‘house’ (The Black Press). The NAACP needs to know that by ignoring the Black Press they are ‘cutting off their nose to spite their face,’” Bakewell said in a March 7 letter to NNPA publishers, obtained by the Trice Edney News Wire. “We have marched side by side with them and been their voice in the African American community. It is truly disheartening to be on the battlefield with someone and not be able to share in the spoils.”
