I think, that a lot of the left still doesn't understand

 just how much some of the 'get Trump at any cost' idiocy has pissed off a LOT of people. Including actual liberals. So they keep pushing it because 'Anything is fair to save us from him!' Which brings us to Kevin's post. An excerpt from:

And is pisses off more people who see what a political hit job this is, conducted by courts and federal and state agencies.  Including a DA who ran for office on "I'm going to get Trump!"  They keep pushing, and saying things that, if someone on the right/center said them about a Democrat, would have every one of the Usual Suspects screaming that "You're inciting people to kill him!"

"But it's DIFFERENT when WE do it!"  Etc.  With no concern for the damage done to the courts and the justice system.  Because they just don't care as long as they get what they want.  Which means this is likely to get real messy.

they're assholes who use their position to harm people they don't like.  Or whose beliefs they don't like.  And people related to someone they don't like.

It's a lazy hit piece that actively misleads readers, giving them the false impression that Siskind is at the center of a stealth plot to infiltrate Silicon Valley and pollute it with noxious far-right ideas. Unfortunately, this theme—that new tech ventures are sources of right-wing disinformation—is becoming endemic to the paper's increasingly panicky tech coverage, which cynically treats all new electronic conversation spaces as potential disinformation incubators.

According to Metz, Slate Star Codex was first and foremost "Silicon Valley's Safe Space," which is the absurd title of the piece. This gives the impression that Siskind primarily spends his time flattering venture capitalists, tech startups, and coders, which could not possibly be further from the truth.
Maybe if they stopped acting as political hacks with bylines and started acting like actual reporters, people would start to regain some trust in them. 

Chances of that happening: way too damn low.

Let’s be generous and say that at the outset they had reasonable concerns. How could they know if the emails were real? The story might be Russian disinformation. Rudy Giuliani, the president’s lawyer and pal, is involved -- that’s a reason to be skeptical. The story broke in the New York Post, a tabloid owned by the conservative tycoon Rupert Murdoch. Fox News, another Murdoch property, ran with the story. How could they even know the computer in question belonged to Hunter Biden? Isn’t the computer repairman almost blind? And what a coincidence, they say, that all of this comes out just days before the presidential election!

 

It’s not their reasoning, dishonest as it is, that’s so annoying. It’s the sanctimony of these journalists that’s galling. They’re not running the story because they don’t want to be participants in a smear campaign that might affect a presidential election – and they want us to really believe that?

So to review: Washington Post reporter Mike Rosenwald made an outrageous claim with no basis in reality, mocked everyone who pointed out that his claim was absurd, doubled down on his ignorance, made another outrageous claim to support his original outrageous claim, and then promptly stepped on a rake because he was too lazy to do the simple research he snidely demanded that everyone else do on his behalf.

This week, Lara Logan returned to CBS after being sent to the cornfield because the Obama administration didn’t like a report on Benghazi she did for “60 Minutes.” The FBI actually pressured the network, and called a featured source of hers a liar. Even though she had multiple other sources, the network had her apologize on air, and after an effort to publicly humiliate her, she was banished from the network for seven months.
A: The network is either run by cowards or dirtbags(I'm going for 'both'),
B: One more "We're supposed to trust the FBI why, again?
C: This is why I have a category 'Sorry excuses for reporters', covering the shitbird 'journalists' who take part in this 'preferred narrative' bullshit.
