Sikh sues Californicated;
this could be interesting.
A Sikh man is suing the state of California over its gun laws, arguing they violate his First Amendment rights to practice his religion by barring him from carrying the kind of weapons he says he needs for self-defense.
Gursant Singh Khalsa, a practicing Sikh for 35 years, charges in the lawsuit filed this month that California’s laws banning military-style, semiautomatic weapons and high-capacity magazines violate mainstream Sikh doctinre requiring Sikhs “be at all time fully prepared to defend themselves and others against injustice.”
The one problem I can see offhand? 'to defend themselves and others against injustice' probably scares the crap out of a lot of the politicians involved.
Why are Democrats so violent?

A piece of history that probably makes some people very nervous:
A black man by the name of John Casor became one of Anthony Johnson's indentured servants. Johnson failed to release John Casor after a time, so Casor ran away. Casor plead his case in court, but Johnson convinced the court that Casor had agreed to be Johnson's slave for life. The Virginia court ruled in Johnson's favor in 1654 or 1655, making John Casor America's first officially recognized slave.
Why?
Antonio Johnson (who later changed his name to Anthony), a black or black-hispanic mixed man, and his future wife Mary, a black woman, were among the very first non-white and non-Native American people to arrive in America. They came by boat to Virginia in 1619 as indentured servants. Upon their release they were given land and eventually became wealthy enough to take on indentured servants of their own.

Democrats say that they will allow a salary bill to raise sheriff pay to go to the floor, but only if seven Republicans, many of whom oppose the pay bill on fiscal grounds, sign on as co-sponsors. So far, that has not happened. Maketa said that is a hurdle that the gun bills did not face.
"None of these gun control bills they passed required any Republican co-sponsors -- but for the sheriff pay bill, [the speaker] required seven Republican co-sponsors to put it up for a vote," Maketa said. "I'm sorry, but that tells the truth right there."
Pretty much, it would seem.
So, people are cancelling hunting trips because of the new laws, and now add in the uncertainty of this: if you accidentally have or do something that violates, will the sheriff throw you in jail or not? Yeah, I'd likely cancel the trip, too.
Oh, and all the whining from illegal aliens about how badly they're treated? Ok, so let's copy Mexico's laws on the subject. Which include
Article 33 of Mexico’s constitution establishes the right of the president to detain and deport “any foreigner” and prohibits foreigners from participating “in any way” in the political affairs of the country.
So, you're an illegal alien and you showed up at a rally to pressure politicians? To jail and then back to Mexico you go.

There have also been additional developments related to the investigation that was attempted by Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCPP) and the Carney’s Point police. The Moores’ attorney Evan Nappen contacted TheBlaze with an update. On Monday, DCPP informed Shawn Moore that he would not need to open his gun safe for their review…unless he wanted to do that. Additionally, the DCPP worker who allegedly threatened to take away Moore’s children if he did not cooperate with them, has contacted Shawn to tell him that he had passed several checks and once they got responses a couple more, DCPP believes they can close the case within two weeks. If they do complete their work within that time period, the agency will have spent an entire month investigating a single complaint that was filed anonymously.
Note that this is AFTER the clown tried to force entry into their home(no warrant, just demands) and made the threats. What the eff are the 'several checks', and the 'couple more'?

Hausman told a reporter later that she really didn't understand her own bill.
She just took what Bloomberg & Co. gave her and threw it in; probably never actually read the damn thing before she put her name on it.
Had a friend ask why I was bitching about the food & drink idiocy of Bloomberg, since I don't live in NYEffing City; this is why, the bastard wants to run ALL our lives. And far too many politicians are happy to play with him on it. At least until the blowback starts.

To the MO Dept of Revenue: since you didn't want to talk about it,
here's your subpoena.
Yesterday, Missouri state Senator Kurt Shaefer subpoenaed the the Missouri Department of Revenue to produce all documents between the Department of Revenue and any federal agency, including but not limited to, the Department of Homeland Security or FEMA, regarding driver’s license and ID information of Missouri citizens.

If you're not familiar with this, it all started
Oliver said Mr. Griffin went to his local Department of Motor Vehicles fee office after passing the application process for a concealed carry gun permit. When he refused to let DMV employees scan some of his documentation, he was denied the permit.
Oliver said Griffin acted within his rights. He said the Department of Revenue apparently installed new computer equipment to record the information as part of the federal Real ID Act of 2005.
But state laws prohibit the department from retaining and collecting these types of documents and from complying with that portion of the Real ID Act. The data the DOR collected was being forwarded to Morpho Trust U.S.A., a Georgia company that specializes in partnering with state and federal governmental agencies.
Yeah, whatever could go wrong there?

Schaefer notes that the collection of biometric data was never discussed with Missouri lawmakers and that it was discovered quite by accident when suspicious Missourians questioned why the DOR would want their marriage licenses and a multitude of other information simply to renew their conceal carry permits. When Schaefer confronted the DOR, they twice lied to the senator, claiming that the DHS grant money was for things like “hole punchers.” Schaefer later learned the DHS grant money was actually used towards items like facial recognition hardware and software. It’s not only backdoor gun registration, but a massive invasion of privacy as well.
It raises two interesting questions: what else is the DOR lying about and what did Gov. Jay Nixon know and when did he know it?
And what's going to come out when people are put under oath?

If I had money in a bank in Cypress, I'd be finding someplace else for it. Almost anywhere else. If they can decide to steal under or around 30 percent from big depositors, they can do it to smaller ones later. Hell, this mess STARTED with smaller savers getting a less-drastic looting, but when the screaming was too loud they decided to make a big theft from the bigger ones.

Friday evening: people gathering, talking, imbibing in some quite good booze and the chicken and brisket Jennifer and Evyl had smoked for the occasion.
Saturday:
The weather weenies having done their usual this-time-of-year job of changing the forecast about every four hours for the last five days, actual "What's it like?" knowledge came with chilly wind and light mist. Wonderful shooting conditions if you're after a duck, otherwise...
On the other hand, good company helps compensate for that. We have here COGS Central
We had our own ninja-suiter; considering the amount of stuff in the vest,
good thing he didn't step in a soft spot. On the other hand, the balaclava was probably warm.

Started off on pistol; some falling plates, some jugs, some paper targets and other things that jump when hit. First time I'd shot plates, that's a fine way to spend some time. And I find that, with a couple of exceptions, in some ways I still shoot better with a revolver than with a semi-auto. Had an idea I discussed with Evyl for the plates, we'll see if that works out.
There was a pigeon thrower, and some of us got a little wingshooting in. Remember what I posted yesterday? Yes, I suck at this.
After assaulting some of the leftovers from Friday night this circus moved to the rifle range. Which, due to the visibility situation, was limited to 200 yards. We have everything from AR variants to Mosin variants, some .22s, a 1903 Springfield and some Enfields. Lots of noise was made, and some hard drives in need of erasing became unreadable.
That's a fairly short version; a fine time was had. Including the little girl in the first picture, who got to fire her first shots that day(yes, any nannies snooping around, under the very close supervision of her parents; you do know what 'parents' are, don't you?).
Why am I not there today? Because between the temp, moist and lots of back & forth on broken ground, my knees advised me this morning that if I went back out they were going to leave home.
Of course, by the time I was up and moving around a bit, several other joints joined the chorus, so I'm here instead of shooting.
One of the observations yesterday: "Few months ago, you dropped a couple of .22s you'd just move on; yesterday he dropped three and they fell under the porch, and he spent fifteen minutes with a rake finding them."
It were fun. Lots of. Looking forward to more stuff later.

The news story that really sets me off is that 17-yoa waste of oxygen murdering a baby, because mom didn't have any money to steal and he was so upset he had to hurt somebody.
I'm sure the blood-dancers of the CSGV & Co. are splashing about and screaming about the gun; I doubt they're talking about a couple of teenagers who think robbery is a fine way to get some money, and at least one of them having no problem murdering A FREAKING BABY because he's all upset the mom didn't have any cash. Oh no, can't get all concerned about that!
There will, however, be lots of whining and moaning about whatever sentence is handed down on the two. For the younger one it'll be "He's only fourteen, he (fill in the effing blank)!" For the older, well, you know the drill. "He never had a chance, it's 'X' fault he didn't know better!" and so forth. Which doesn't change you've got what would've been, a few generations ago, a young man expected to pull his weight in a job and fit into a civil society, who now is a piece of shit who has no problem with killing a baby. The 'reformers' will wail and demand he get another chance. And if he does what usually happens and murders someone else, another one after that.
Nasty question a lot of people don't want to think about, let alone actually answer: How many other peoples' lives are a sufficient number of 'chances' for someone like this?
I've yet to hear any of the usual excusers/pleaders give an answer. Yeah, he's 'only' 17, he might change(usually that's "Maybe we can reform him!"), but what do you tell the family of the next one he kills when he gets out?
And he will get out; they demand the end of the death penalty, and keeping someone in prison for life is 'cruel and unusual', etc.
And soon as someone with some visibility starts talking about the rotted culture that produced these walking diseases, the cries of racism will start. Because we OBVIOUSLY wouldn't be this upset about this if the diseases were white, right...

Blum’s ownership of two major defense contractors, who were awarded billions of dollars for military construction projects approved by Feinstein.

An experiment
Couple of days ago I took a can(formerly holding green beans; French-cut, if it matters) that I'd cleaned out and tried something. The lid had been removed with one of the newer openers that leaves a lid you can sit back on, so I ran a bead of kitchen/bath caulking around the edge of the lid, filled the can about 1/3 full of water, put the lid on and set a weight on it for a day.
Then I turned the can upside down and shook it a bit, then left it upside-down a while; no drips, no sign of leakage. And the can opener cut it open with no problem.
This could make for some interesting storage possibilities. Add that to consideration of vacuum bags, desiccant and sealed jars for money storage.

At least two weeks. Depending on how bad things are, perhaps longer. Perhaps a lot longer.
Can you imagine living in urban California, around LA or Frisco (where they had the progressive foresight to “unanimously approve” a “military style” ammo ban!) and the Big One hits? And civil authority, the part of it that shows up for duty anyway, is triaged protecting Tony Villaraigosa at his impregnable command center, or the SF Board of Supes at wherever they hang out (be nice)? And that’s assuming you don’t live in one of those cities that have gone belly up, thanks to public servants living large. You know, like San Bernardino, where they had to lay off 80 cops, and where the best advice the city attorney could give was to lock your doors and load your guns.
Now understand that in Los Angeles alone, there were estimated to be 120,000 gang members (that's what, about 80 percent of the combined Allied strength at Normandy?) compared to 10,000 sworn LAPD officers and about the same number of Sheriff’s deputies and reserves, and then recall the last time they deployed, after a lot of destruction had already been done, the National Guard had to wait on ammo. Perhaps some of Janet Napolitano’s crack Imperial Sardaukar can spare some of those 1.6 billion rounds or however many they’re said to be saving for a rainy day …
So here you are, hamstrung by all those existing California gun laws, and assuming you aren’t pancaked into the rubble and can make it back (probably on foot) from wherever you are to your home (sans a gun, by the way, since concealed carry permits in these areas inhabited by millions are rarer than Westboro Baptists in West Hollywood), you’re now told you’re on your own for at least two weeks. Probably without utilities and with a very limited stock of basic supplies, including drinking water, and surrounded by neighbors in the same fix. And you’re all bordered on, or just a quick ride from, other neighborhoods that may not be as ... bourgeois ... as yours. How will you -- and they -- react when it turns out millions aren’t prepared to go even two days, and besides that, there are all kinds of opportunities to add to material happiness, now that the store registers aren’t working anyway, nor are any credit, debit and wealth transfer cards, and the only thing standing between those who would take and those who have are … those who have.
Fits right in with the way Colorado Democrats stacked the deck in hearings, doesn't it?
Historically, any citizen would be allowed to speak if they arrived at the Capitol early and signed up on testimony records. Although sign up sheets were in place and citizens including myself signed up, we were completely disregarded. Minutes after I signed up to testify, I learned a different process would be utilized and testimony was based on three categories: experts, preferred witnesses, and public witnesses. No explanation was provided to define expert or preferred witness. I was told this decision was made by the senate president and the chairperson of the hearing committee. Additionally, experts would have no time constraints and all others would be restricted to three minutes. I was completely disheartened at what I was witnessing and this was exacerbated when I learned experts included an individual that was not a resident of Colorado who had no credentials to qualify as an expert except his spouse was a victim of the Tuscan Arizona shooting. He admitted he had not read the proposed bill and could not speak to any specifics regarding this bill. He encouraged Colorado to adopt universal background checks and close the gun show loophole, both of which already exist. Sadly, he testified with unlimited restriction as voters and taxpayers of this state sat helplessly as they were denied the right to testify during committee hearings.
My colleague, Sheriff John Cooke, testified in opposition of the “Universal Background Check” bill on behalf of most sheriffs while staying within the three minute constraint. Fortunately, I was allowed to testify because a member of the legislature listed me as an expert witness. I was honored and brought statistics and facts as it related to the national insta-check system (NICS); the probable criminalization of law abiding citizens and the unenforceability of this particular bill. I offered other options knowing we all share the common goal of reducing violence. I was proud to represent my constituents and the majority of our sheriffs. That pride was quickly diminished as I departed the hearing room and witnessed hundreds of citizens who would not be given the opportunity to testify. Although they expressed their sincere appreciation for my comments, I recognized the injustice that was unfolding before my eyes. Citizens of Colorado were prevented from participating in the legislative process. Their rights had been overridden by the agenda of a few members of the State Senate.
So all this works in pretty neatly with another bit of news that, for now is unrelated, and the good people of the Golden State had better pray to Gaia Almighty it stays that way.
