This proposed law sounds good, but only

if it includes serious fines and jail time for cops, bureaucrats, and politicians who violate it.

How about a national law saying no data, metadata or other information gathered by these cameras can ever get into the hands of non-governmental entities either directly or indirectly no matter how far downstream from the collecting entity. Violation of this provision shall result in the permanent loss of ability to field flock cameras or similar devices of any kind forever by the collecting entity or its agents, representative or those acting on its behalf.

The Feds obey the law like thieves and murderers do. They don't. No law will stop them from using the cameras for control.
