says the View, but it happens here too.

Long time ago riding down a state highway and passed a country road.  Glanced down it, turned around and looked again.  Half the road was wet from the thunderstorm that'd moved through, the other side dry, and literally down the middle was the dividing line.

The current forecast:

Tonight

Showers and thunderstorms before 1am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 1am and 4am, then a slight chance of showers after 4am. Low around 64. South wind 16 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

And,of course, the local stations are full of 'MAY be SEVERE!'
I swear, they think they won't get paid if they don't use that word.

Yep. It went from 'chance of showers and a few thunderstorms' through tonight

to a tornado watch for the whole damn area.  Which is most of the state.

Yeah, it's approaching spring.

Activist: "Parts of these deserts are turning GREEN!"

Almost anybody: "I thought you liked things green?"

"Not when it's Climate Change!  And screws with the narrative!"

Among other 'just in case' decisions,

if this were a regular thing here(happily, it's not) or if I had to move someplace where it was, I'd have a snowblower.  I can't do this shovel & sweep it the way I used to.

Hands especially.  The shoulder was giving me some crap, but the hands, this is the first time of this since my arthritis got this bad, and they really hated it.  In part because the weather before this was nice enough there was enough residual heat in the pavement that the snow in contact was melting a bit.  Which meant whether I was using the broom to push some or the shovel to lift and move, it kept freezing on them and I'd have to shake/beat them off.  That got old real fast.

So this morning everything that had some slight melting when the sun came out yesterday refroze, and it's like a skating rink out there on the streets.  I'd go out for an emergency, but that's it.  It's supposed to get to the low 20's today, and that and traffic will help.

So indoors it is today.

Oh yes, it snowed

Not a horrible amount thus far, but it'll definitely be fun getting to work, and take longer.

So, while I'm doing that,

Sounds like someone's messing with illegal oil shipments.

Speaking of the weather, it says 'snow showers' today with a couple of inches possible.  Ok.
Tonight  'snow showers' with 3-7 inches possible.  Some showers, huh?
Tomorrow: 'snow showers then chance of snow showers', 2-4 inches possible.  Again, pretty heavy showers.
You ever get the feeling of the forecast being "We don't know, just guess"?

The stuff above I wrote this morning, and forgot to load before I left.  Now home:
Yes, more snow fell, but no freezing rain.  Snow can be a pain, frankly freezing rain can scare hell out of me.  It can lead to days with no power and other stuff.  Some places are getting enough of that, I hate to think about it.

As is, they're saying several more inches of snow are possible here tonight and tomorrow, and I've been informed not to come to work tomorrow.  It got busier than I expected(it's Oklahoma, people will go through a lot to get to the range or to buy something), but if it's this busy tomorrow I'll be flat amazed.  And right now I'll be quite glad to forego those hours of pay.

And yes, the shoulders are getting better.  The right's just a bit sore depending on what I do, the left is still a pain to do a number of things, but it is improving.  The back from the pulled muscle is a lot better.  I think the pressure changes as well as the cold are bothering the shoulders, but I'll get through it.*


*Barring some other graceful maneuvers, at least.

our Transportation Secretary?  Update:
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, despite being the senior infrastructure guy in the Cabinet, is once more nowhere to be found. His public schedule has not been updated since mid-August. Instead of focusing on assisting Helene victims, he is reportedly helping Tim Walz with debate prep for the upcoming vice presidential debate on Tuesday evening. Instead of assisting with disaster relief, “Mayor Pete” is in Minnesota with Tim Walz.
The rest of the cabinet has been MIA; now that there's serious noise about it, they're probably scrambling to try and look like they're worth a crap and doing something.


Second:  You actually think he's running the .gov?
REPORTER: "Any comment on the strikes in Yemen, Mr. President!?" BIDEN (or whatever's left of him): "I've spoken to both sides. They gotta settle the strike. I'm supporting the collective bargaining effort. I think they'll settle the strike."


Also from the Compassionate and Caring Dear Leader:

REPORTER: Are there any more resources the federal government could be giving them?

BIDEN: No. We pre planned a significant amount of it, even though they didn’t ask for it yet. Hadn’t asked for yet.

"Do you have any words to the victims of the hurricane?"

BIDEN: "We've given everything that we have."

"Are there any more resources the federal government could be giving them?"

BIDEN: "No." 

As someone said, give it a few days and Biden and Harris will probably both be there to make sure there are pictures of them Caring, purely because they can't be seen as Not Caring Enough.  And they'll probably get hugely in the way in the process(no, I'm not feeling generous toward them). 

And last: have the leftists started crowing "Oh, now that there's a problem you want the Feds to save you?" yet?

This region's weather:

Go to bed with 'high chance of showers and an occasional storm possible, 1/10" to 1/4" rain except may be heavier in some storms.'

Wake up with 'Flash flood  and flood watches and warnings, with X inches possible in some areas.'

That was yesterday.  Today will be 'Hot and so humid you may see small frogs kicking by in the air.'

It's actually pleasant outside,

the temps down a bit and a shower blew through.

Which will make it real nice later when it's in the upper 90's.

Yesterday went from hot & fairly humid with a 'slight chance' of thunderstorms

that night, to 50% as it was building, to 60% as it was moving this way.  The really nasty part missed my area, but it did give us some needed rain.

Which brings me again to the weather and news weenies almost shrieking about the heat as if it'd never been pretty hot in late June before.  Jeez.

It is hot out there, and after the rain even more humid, so I'm going to try to keep to indoor activities today, and the garden's too wet to till.  And, despite what I said the other day, I did hit the range yesterday so that's out of the way.  Not successfully on one thing, because while testing loads I noticed a increase in group size as I went along, and found the front mount screw was loose.  So no more testing on that.  The other shooting was good, though less than usual, as it getting hot enough as it approached noon(it's near a river bottom area so you can imagine the humidity) that I was very glad I only brought two boomsticks.

I will note a guy who showed up not long before I left.  He unloaded a 1903A3 Springfield, some ammo, and proceeded to- offhand with sling- hit the 200 yard gong regularly, and when done packed up and went.  I think he lives nearby, making "I'll just go ring steel for a few rounds" possible.

There were a couple of loads that, despite the problem, looked promising, so I'll have some loading to do.

Decisions, decisions...

Outdoor range.  Want to go.  Hot today(still), with a bit more wind than I like for trying loads.  Maybe a couple of degrees hotter tomorrow but lower winds.  So, if I go, it'll be tomorrow.  Long as I have some shade and plenty to drink should be good.  Uncomfortable, but good.

Speaking of weather: the news and weather weenies have been having conniptions the last couple of weeks, you'd swear they didn't know it's most always hot in late June.  I don't know if they're deliberately trying to scare people for some reason* or just being dumb.

*Yes, it may be connected to 'Globular Warmering!', who knows?  They do, and they're not telling.

And the forecast went from

30% chance of showers to 60% chance of thunderstorms and a severe storm watch...

 It's sleeting out there

Cloudy and cold,

rain in the afternoon and some snow tonight.

I know, it's late November, but I still think "Yuck."

Two stories, from two different countries, saying 'Melting Ice Reveals Artifacts',

from Canada and Norway.  Which would seem to indicate that the ice wasn't always there.  Which would mean cycles of icing and melting.  Or, you could say, warming and cooling periods.

Why, it's as if this current bit of warming is nothing extraordinary!

The weather weenie drama is really annoying,

I don't know if they're pushing things because they want the attention, or we've gotten enough people from Californicated and such who don't understand the weather here.  Right now we've got a- probable- few inches of snow expected tomorrow, and I keep hearing "Winter Storm!"

Which wouldn't be so annoying except that, up to a few years ago, this would be a 'winter weather warning'.  Not nearly so dramatic, just "We're going to get some snow, so keep an eye on the weather and be careful."  

In warm weather this has become "Severe storms expected tomorrow!"  Except when you check there's a slight chance in one part of the state, a long way from here.

This is annoying, and it scares people.  

I know it's January, and it won't last, but

we got some rain this morning, and now the skies have cleared and it'll be in the low 60's.  And Lord, does the sun feel good to stand in without a coat.

Ah, March in Oklahoma

Downright pleasant the other day, now it's cold and snowing.  And it should be in the 50's tomorrow.

And yes, it looks like it'll be knee replacement, between the damage on bone surfaces already and what would come in the future, that's about it.  You can imagine the joy with which I look forward to this.  The surgery is far better than before, and as a lot of you pointed out it'll make the future more pleasant; it's the surgery and recovery(and I know that, barring problems, that's pretty straightforward) that bothers me.

Ah well, it'll beat the alternative.

And the weather's about to turn ratty for a few days again;

sometimes this time of year sucks.
