In "My, this could be very useful", we have

the start of the stillsuit.  Doesn't process your own body water, but still could be damned handy.

I mentioned the other day the Democrat calling for murder as a standard action by Democrats; I can't find the article, but remember Van Jones?  Self-described as a 'revolutionary Marxist' when he hit the airwaves?  He's having fits about the open communists running for office- or in office- in NYeffingCity.  The question that comes to mind is, does he actually think they're going too far, or just being too open about it?  Bunch of other Democrats as well, and they're smashing the actual American Democrats.  This will not go well.

The Brit government is still working hard to destroy the country.  Multiple rapist gets out of prison early, AND can't be deported.  Wonderful.

Someone mentioned and I looked up Thomas Jefferson's first draft of the Declaration.  One part in particular I wish had remained in it, would've saved a world of trouble in generations to come.

Unconnected with the above, the physical therapy on the shoulder has moved from "Let's loosen you up some" to "Let me know when this gets to the 'almost too much' point, which caused me to laugh and refer her to the torture scene in 'The Princess Bride', which made her laugh.

Too close to the edge for comfort at times.

And now I've got crap to take care of and not enough time.

Starship V3 has made a successful launch and flight

and, from the look of it, it's incredible.
Also a demonstration to Occasional-Cortex why she can't make a billion dollars.

That clown who 'can talk to men' and his socialist party are trying again

to piss off an awful lot of men.  And women.  More "We need to ban all the things we don't want you to have!"

Screw 'em, one and all.

And, for some morning stuff before I start circling again,

Every one of these should be held up to ridicule.  And if their 'profession' had any real standards, fired.  Until such starts happening, they'll never stop this crap, and never regain any trust.

I guess more of that 'settled' science; they've found evidence that T-Rex had scales, not feathers, and now that they moved faster than a lot of people thought.

I've seen jokes about 'the war between Emu and Man', didn't know it had actually happened.
At least they aren't as nasty as cassowary, which can be downright nasty.*

They ought to ALL be part of this caucus, and if the Democrats actually gave a damn about this country, so should they.

And now I must be off.

*Which is where the idea of turning a flock of them loose in the Aussie Parliament and locking the doors got started

Another little step toward the Slammers

He's absolutely right:

Which means the laser weapon the Israelis just put in service, and the stuff we're(and lots of others)working on, became a lot more affordable, and needed.  All we need now is a powergun to simplify the fueling of such a weapon.

And that will change lots of things.

A short break from the stuff going on, so

a bit of the news:
Remember the asshole who murdered three girls and stabbed a bunch more?  Lots of people thought it might be a terror attack, etc., and Two-Tier & Co. used that as excuse to throw a bunch of people in prison for BadThink?
Guess what.

Roman concrete, it appears the secret has indeed been found.

OR and WA governors have activated the National Guard, because, apparently, they no longer want to support/tolerate a bunch of rioting communists.

But what about when taxpayer-funded agencies sit on information, and seek to discredit it, just because it’s potentially harmful to a preferred candidate? Well, then that information becomes disinformation right up until it’s convenient for it to stop being so.

And this wasn’t a case of anyone getting it wrong.

No, with the Hunter Biden laptop story, they knew it was legit. They just didn’t want you to know that.

And that's it for now

Probably the only post for a few days(with one exception), so

start with that horse dewormer seems to be awfully useful.

Israel whacked a big-name terrorist the other day.  Look at his bodyguard's ID:
Need to go ahead and declare the UN a terrorist organization.

A MILITARY whistleblower has released a series of documents revealing 601 deaths of service personnel and a high rate of serious adverse events in clinical trials involving remdesivir, an antiviral commonly administered to Covid-19 patients.
And which, you may recall, a lot of doctors/hospitals were forcing on people who had Wuhan.
If this is indeed correct, a bunch of people belong in prison.

If you haven't seen the video of the tower catching the Starship booster, holy crap!

A very disgusting thing:
Approximately a quarter of the soldiers were just miles from Gaza in off-base housing near the IDF’s Tze’elim base when the attack began. A group of local Israelis – IDF reservists, police officers, and ordinary citizens – got them to the base, which Hamas terrorists were quickly heading toward. With his men in mortal danger, the U.S. team leader requested permission to open the arms locker so they could retrieve their firearms but was denied at the US Central Command level and “denied and/or ignored” at a level above that, according to a military intelligence analyst with knowledge of the mission and exfiltration.
Looks like lots of our troops are fine, but the upper leadership...

The sex slavery problem has gotten a lot worse, thanks to Biden/Harris & Co.

And that's almost all I've got time for

Well, this is fun

And part of what makes it so is
The Wuhan institute, where WIV14 was sequenced, is at the center of allegations that the COVID-19 pandemic was the result of a lab leak. But there is no evidence that WIV14 originated at WIV, Lauring says. “Unfortunately … people will speak of this as a ‘lab leak’ and jump to conclusions,” he says. “All they did here was isolate a virus and sequence it and upload it.” Any lab leak would have occurred before that, and probably elsewhere. WIV did not respond to a request for comment.
Problem being that 'All they did here' actually means "All we KNOW that they did here", and that opens a big rathole.  Because anybody who trusts a PRC facility to not be doing something else, let alone trusts them to tell the truth, is a fool.

So, a legitimate screw-up(and they do happen, see 'CDC' for one) or something else?

Sometimes the future isn't stupid

Mission engineers were confident NASA’s OSIRIS-APEX (Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification – Apophis Explorer) spacecraft could weather its closest ever pass of the Sun on January 2, 2024. Their models had predicted that, despite traveling 25 million miles closer to the heat of the Sun than it was originally designed to, OSIRIS-APEX and its components would remain safe.

The mission team confirmed that the spacecraft indeed had come out of the experience unscathed after downloading stored telemetry data in mid-March. The team also tested OSIRIS-APEX’s instruments in early April, once the spacecraft was far enough from the Sun to return to normal operations. Between December 2023 and March, OSIRIS-APEX was inactive, with only limited telemetry data available to the team on Earth.

Helluva doorstop

When you find out that doorstop really is a meteorite, and worth some serious cash.

Dishonest 'reporting': it's what CNN does.

Started with 'Let's ban guns'
That didn't work, so it became 'Let's ban handguns'
That became 'Let's ban assault weapons'
That became 'We just want common-sense gun safety laws(that won't let you own a gun)'
Gov. Hairgel now has 'Gun safety freedoms'.

Judge holds three of the antifa who attacked Andy Ngo have to cough up money.  They'll have a hell of a time getting them to actually do it, but they were held responsible.  For what that's worth.

It's always in the last place you look.

Yet not a one of them was used in a crime.
And I'm seeing a lot of fired cases being described as 'ammunition'.

About those problems with analysis of stuff from crime scenes,

went looking for something I remembered reading, and found some of it.  This one is from 2003:
A panel of government scientific advisors has found that an FBI forensic technique long used to link bullets with assailants is scientifically flawed and potentially misleading to juries -- a finding that could affect hundreds of past convictions.

The method, which measures the likelihood of a chemical match between bullets found at crime scenes and those found in the possession of a defendant, has been used for more than three decades in criminal cases involving gun violence. The Times obtained a draft of key sections of the report, which is expected to be formally released by the National Research Council in early December.

More here on the same FBI mess.

Add this to other "No, you cannot say this matches that" rulings

The Maryland Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that firearms experts will no longer be able to testify that a bullet was fired from a particular gun. The decision is likely the first by a state supreme court to undercut the widespread forensic discipline of firearms identification, which is used in criminal cases across the country.

In a 4–3 decision first reported by The Baltimore Sun, the Maryland Supreme Court overturned the murder conviction of Kobina Ebo Abruquah after finding that a firearm expert's trial testimony linking Abruquah's gun to bullets found at a crime scene wasn't backed up by reliable science. In the majority opinion, Maryland Supreme Court Chief Justice Matthew J. Fader wrote that "firearms identification has not been shown to reach reliable results linking a particular unknown bullet to a particular known firearm."

There was a book I read years ago called 'Flare', (updated with link)

about the effects of solar flares when things have been quiet and people forgot/aren't thinking of what they do.  Well, one just reminded everyone.  I'll try to find a link for the book when have time.
Update: I found it.

And the leftists seem to have a high proportion of violent assholes among their ranks, don't they?  This time, this one killed his own kid.

It appears some scientists implanted stem cells from deer to mice

to make them grow antlers.

They think they've figured out how Roman concrete lasts so well

even in bad conditions.  Interesting, indeed.  You can imagine some Roman natural philosopher and an engineer breaking up some chunks of concrete to see how this mix did, and saying "Maybe if we..."
