Perkins published his findings last November in a book called The Welfare Trait (Palgrave Macmillan, £19.99), but you won’t have heard about it or seen it reviewed in any UK newspaper anywhere because his research has been judged to be off limits by the self-appointed guardians of the academic establishment and their outriders in the media. A senior editor of Nature, one of the leading academic journals, refused to consider it for review because she regards scientific research into the personalities of the long-term unemployed as ‘unethical’, and a sociology professor whom the publishers had asked to peer-review the book refused to do so on the grounds that any book linking benefit dependency to personality must be nonsense because personality is a ‘capitalist construct’.

In (formerly Great)Britain, they actually have pre-crime charges and orders. This is bullshit of such a high order it's already decomposed; the place is screwed.
The order - which was drawn up by magistrates in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, and extended in York - reads: "You must disclose the details of any female including her name, address and date of birth.
"You must do this at least 24 hours prior to any sexual activity taking place."
It also contains restrictions on his use of the internet and mobile phone devices and requires him to inform officers of any change of address.
A further court hearing in May will decide whether the interim order should be made into a full order, which has a minimum duration of two years and can last indefinitely.
Sexual risk orders were introduced in England and Wales in March last year and can be applied to any individual who the police believe poses a risk of sexual harm, even if they have never been convicted of a crime.
'Horrible' doesn't even begin to cover this. But I bet it makes the 'social justice' people feel SO good. And the cops. You know, the people who didn't do squat about the mess in Rotherham(and if you think that's the only such instance...), but they can do this.
Jeez.

From one of those dumbass military types our 'elites' look down on
With [Task Force] 58, I had w/ me Slim’s book, books about the Russian and British experiences in [Afghanistan], and a couple others. Going into Iraq, “The Siege” (about the Brits’ defeat at Al Kut in WW I) was req’d reading for field grade officers. I also had Slim’s book; reviewed T.E. Lawrence’s “Seven Pillars of Wisdom”; a good book about the life of Gertrude Bell (the Brit archaeologist who virtually founded the modern Iraq state in the aftermath of WW I and the fall of the Ottoman empire); and “From Beirut to Jerusalem”. I also went deeply into Liddell Hart’s book on Sherman, and Fuller’s book on Alexander the Great got a lot of my attention (although I never imagined that my HQ would end up only 500 meters from where he lay in state in Babylon).
Ultimately, a real understanding of history means that we face NOTHING new under the sun.

British soldiers have been banned from firing mortars at full range in training by health and safety bosses - because they are too loud.
The longer-range 81mm mortar, which was routinely employed by the British Army against the Taliban, is set to see reduced use in training after it was deemed a risk to the hearing of troops.

Soldiers have now been ordered to employ a reduced charge to cut down the level of noise, meaning they can only practise up to a range of 2,000 metres.
Better hearing protection in training, maybe? No, easier to keep them from learning how to use it at full range.
But the border is secure! Napolitano and Obama said so!
Yes, the left really wants to control the language. Yes, they would like the words 'gun control' to always be rendered as 'gun safety', because the actual term gives away what they're really after.
And no, you can't call yourself both a liberal and a progressive; an actual liberal is not what these clowns like to claim.

This is stupid on a level hard to describe. And it's feeding right in to "The government would rather be PC than actually protect us from criminals. So screw the government."
