to LAPD and the prosecutor that you can't be trusted with a gun; different standard for cops:
Prosecutors are declining to criminally charge against eight Los
Angeles police officers who injured two innocent women after mistakenly
riddling their pickup truck with more than 100 bullets during a manhunt
for cop-turned-killer Christopher Dorner, according to a report released
Wednesday.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said there was
insufficient evidence to prove the officers acted unreasonably when they
shot up the truck on Feb. 7, 2013, according to the report, dated
Friday.
Let us remember: they were looking for a big black guy. They opened fire on a truck of different color, make, and size, with TWO WOMEN IN IT. Why?
When one of the women threw a newspaper onto the pavement in the
early-morning hours, an officer believing the sound was a gunshot opened
fire. Officers unable to see clearly into the truck sprayed it with 103
rounds, and hit seven nearby homes and nine other vehicles with
gunshots and shotgun pellets.
A bleeping newspaper hitting pavement. Really. Miracle both women weren't killed, and other people in houses and cars. This was- I can't find the proper words for how stupid this was, yet there was
insufficient evidence to prove the officers acted unreasonably.
Only Ones rules.

What the cops' excuse really meant:
"We're too cowardly to wait until we can identify our target before we start spraying bullets everywhere."
It's not just the cops who should be fired. The police chief that thinks training will fix cowardice, overexcitability, and blatant disregard for the public safety needs to be barred from law enforcement forever.
