Aw, bleeping Shiva on a pogo stick... Remind me what genius was in charge
when this happened?
On August 12, Joe DiGenova, attorney for one of the Benghazi whistleblowers, told Washington D.C.’s WMAL that one of the reasons people have remained tight-lipped about Benghazi is because 400 U.S. missiles were “diverted to Libya” and ended up being stolen and falling into “the hands of some very ugly people.”
DiGenova represents Benghazi whistleblower Mark Thompson. He told WMAL that he “does not know whether [the missiles] were at the annex, but it is clear the annex was somehow involved in the distribution of those missiles.”
He claimed his information “comes from a former intelligence official who stayed in constant contact with people in the special ops and intelligence community.” He said the biggest concern right now is finding those missiles before they can be put to use. “They are worried, specifically according to these sources, about an attempt to shoot down an airliner,” he claimed.
And behind it all is the 'genius' who we're told should be our next President...

And just why would an audit of the Fed be such a
horrible thing? Is Yellen insinuating that they've got things to hide?
Bill Gates would like Obama to be king; also wants the peasants disarmed.
I'll borrow from Mr. Codrea on this one:
So if I cut and paste the information or produce a screenshot from this public document, paid for with tax money and even downloadable, I could be threatened with 10 years in the slammer?
I don't believe it. This I've gotta see for myself.
Anybody feel some kind of Streisand Effect or something going on here...?

Well, the Oprah has done it
So Oprah Winfrey is running around the world playing the race card. Thanks to George for sending this to me.
When in doubt, play the race card.
Yannow who’s racist Oprah? Your hero, Obutthead, who makes everything about race from the Gates kerfuffle to the St. Trayvon of Skittles circus. He promised to be the post racial president, but he never passes up an opportunity to play the race card. He has managed to set racial relations in this country back thirty years.
Wonderful people aren't they?
Just found more on this from Thirdpower.
Speaking of disaster,
"How could this be going so spectacularly wrong?" goes the hand-wringing lament.
How could it not? Seriously! You think a bunch of people can sit down and... Lux Fiat! ...re-write the rules for how 15% of the economy works in one fell swoop, in what amounts to a giant bong-fueled bull session, and have nothing go wrong? You might as well try to change the spark plugs on your car while the engine's running.
Then again, these are people who think that the efficiency of internal combustion engines or the amount of water it takes to carry off a turd are governed by legislative magic and not the laws of physics.
The naive credulity these people have towards the power of government, their blind faith that they can tamper with the machinery without it hurting anybody, differs in kind nor quality not one lick from the most snake-handlin' Pentecostal's faith that Jesus will keep the serpent from biting.
Fast shooting with a bow. REAL fast.
A very well-preserved grave. Those measurements put him at 5'11", and his longsword damn near four feet. Axe and spear as well, a well-armed traveler.
The Soviets were fond of five-year plans, too; how'd that work out?
The president unveiled his “new national climate action plan” at Georgetown University last June. The plan aims to cut U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 2020 to 17 percent below their 2005 levels. In his speech, the president noted that he had urged Congress to adopt a “bipartisan, market-based solution to climate change.” But he also said he wasn’t going wait for Congress to act, so outlined what amounts to a kind of Climate Five-Year Plan, setting limits on greenhouse gas emissions at home while pursuing efforts abroad to reach “a new global agreement to reduce carbon pollution through concrete action.”
Doesn't help that his idea of 'market-based' is "I will tax you to death to make you buy what I want you to."
An actual intelligent action from the EPA. Because "People are actually REPORTING on how damaging growing corn for ethanol for fuel is, and how bad the 15% stuff is, and people are screaming, and we can't deal with this on top of everything else, so we're cutting the ethanol mandate!"
Real intelligence would've been completely cutting it, but that would make the corn lobby even more unhappy, so fat chance.
Oprah Winfrey is going around the world telling everyone that Americans are racist while she promotes her new film:Video at the link.
When in doubt, play the race card.
Oprah Winfrey has been a prominent supporter of Barack Obama. She thinks that both he and the Office of President have been treated with contempt because of the colour of his skin.Part of Denny's take:

“We’re not in it to stockpile. We’re in it to take what you have and there’s nothing you can do to stop us,” Tyler Smith says. “We are your worst nightmare, and we are coming.”He's an Obama fan. Who just told everyone around to be prepared to shoot him in case of disaster....
…
Most preppers, Smith says, are concerned with marauders taking their supplies. It’s not an unfounded fear, he says.
“We are those people,” he says. “We’ll kick your door in and take your supplies. … We are the marauders.”

It being a nice day, range day
Took the 1922 out where could give it a try at longer range with a solid rest and better light.
Tried it with several different brands of ammo; shot at least decently with all, very well with a couple. The best result was had with Lapua Master M. Which I normally wouldn't have, but a guy at the fun show had it for about the same per box most of the clowns were asking for Federal Champion or Aguila subsonic(or anything else), so I picked some up.
After checking sights at 50, tried some different brands, and when I really concentrated this is what the Lapua would do:
which made me very happy. After shooting some other stuff was able to move to the 100-yard line, and after some fiddling and adjusting the same ammo gave this:
By my measure that's right at 2.3", and I'm calling the three high/left my fault for two reasons:
The front sight insert is a post with a bead on top, which made it more difficult to precisely line things up(I much prefer a flat-top post), and
The sun had reached an angle that was causing a lot of glare.
Add those to getting generally a bit worn(the shoulder is still causing problems), and I think I slipped on those. Still, less than 2.5 on a somewhat gusty day I'm not going to bitch about.
Yeah, I'm very happy I said "It's a deal."
One oddity: one of the ammo I tried was the Aguila Super Sniper Subsonic, and at 50 it gave two distinct groups, one a little above and right of the other. Possibly my fault, will have to try it again. At least they were all nice round holes, not oblongs, and the two groups were tight.

Why are anti-gun people(and lots of Democrats)
so violent?
Now THAT'S a kaboom!
Ok, here's a place I'll be spending some time in the future: Brassfetcher.com, ballistics testing
Hey, since when has breaking the law bothered Obama & Co.?

Also, if you had any doubts what kind of hypocritical slimeball Bill Mahar is,
put them to rest.
Anymore my response is "You were warned, dumbass."
"Obamacare sucks! And he lied to us!"
Especially with the way asset forfeiture has become nothing more than theft under color of law, the Professor's idea sounds like a start:
I think we should add corporal punishment for the law enforcement officers and prosecutors in egregious cases like this. Nothing too serious — I’d only add public flogging as punishment where people were physically injured by their misconduct. For mere pecuniary damage, an hour in the stocks for every $10,000 would do.
I'd make it a day at least. And make the cops and prosecutors personally liable for damages.
More coming out about Benghazi.
Now, WHY wouldn't we trust DHS with a internet kill-switch?
When anti-science rhetoric occurs at a Kansas school-board fight over creationism, we can nod our educated heads in silent amusement, but if multiple generations of nutrition researchers have been trained to ignore contrary evidence, to continue writing and receiving grants, and to keep publishing specious results, the scientific community as a whole has a major credibility issue(I think Globular Warmering has already shown that). Perhaps more importantly, to waste finite health research resources on pseudo-quantitative methods and then attempt to base public health policy on these anecdotal “data” is not only inane, it is willfully fraudulent.
From New Effing York: "Comrades! Inform on your friends and neighbors! It is your duty, and you will be paid!"
Earn $500 with Cuomo's SAFE Act; Turn in People with More Than 7 Bullets in Guns
A toll-free "tip line" has been launched that enables any person with a phone the ability to initiate an investigation on any gun owner. Upon receiving a tip, the State Police will route the information to the appropriate police agency in order to initiate an investigation. The tipster, who can remain completely anonymous, is entitled to a taxpayer-funded reward of $500 if an arrest is made in connection with their tip. The number is 1-855-GUNSNYS (1-855- 486-7697). This bounty on gun owners may be especially lucrative with Cuomo's SAFE Act and the easiest bounty money may be legal gun owners. With the SAFE Act, any gun owner who has more than seven bullets in his gun is guilty of a state crime. For years no such law existed, and many otherwise law abiding gun owners, maybe some of your own family, are not compliant. Turn them in and you can make money and it's a lot safer than turning in dangerous illegal gun owners.

If I needed more reason to stay out of Old Navy,
this'll cover it.
Army veteran Aaron Bennett says he was banned from an Old Navy store in Jacksonville, Florida, after he pointed out a teen employee improperly wearing a Marine Corps uniform dress jacket complete with rank insignia, ribbons and a weapons badge, News4Jax.com reported Wednesday.
Frikkin' dirtbags.
Bleeping bleep of a bleep. 2815 meters equals 3078 yards. Right at 1 3/4 miles.
With a Barrett, of course.
Take note of the pausing at least once to reload part. Officer Tuter is a freaking nutcase with a badge.
About those horrible-sounding 'attacks on women' numbers...
For 16 years, a woman named Jennifer Beeman ran the UC Davis Campus Violence Prevention Program, an arm of the campus police department. In 2011, a Yolo County superior court judge sentenced Beeman to 180 days in state prison and five years’ probation for embezzlement and falsification of records pertaining to campus violence. In 2001, for example, Beeman claimed in a federal grant application that as many as 700 Davis students were victims of rape or attempted rape every year. University officials eventually conceded that Beeman “significantly over-reported” the figures, but her fakery drew down four federal grants totaling more than $3 million. Some of that money went to a campaign to “Take Back the Night.”
Sometimes asset forfeiture isn't simply theft, it's extortion.
And everyone involved... whipping post immediately followed by prison.
An abuser with a badge who speaks softly is still an abuser.
So, if everyone who objects to the TSA molesters and thieves is at least leaning toward the NRA, how does this clown expect to get his bans through?
Do We Live in a Police State?
If your town cops are driving a MRAP around 'for serving warrants', your answer is heavily weighted toward 'Yes'.

Wasn't only working this weekend...
Was able to make a fun show, and something followed me home:
Springfield M1922 M2 training rifle. 1903 Springfield rebarreled to .22, bolt suitably modified, receiver modified to feed from a 5-round magazine, and match sights fitted(the sling I added).
I've wanted one of these for a long time, all the circumstances finally came together. Gave it a short tryout Tuesday(it was COLD on the range), and let's say I'm really looking forward to getting it to a longer range in better light*(and a more solid rest to eliminate some of my error)
A bit more info on these here.
*Those match sights are one reason want an outdoor range: better light for my eyes to line things up with.

This would be bloody cool:
diving between two tectonic plates.
When a politician as crooked as Clinton is seen trying to come to the rescue, you are, in non-technical terms, up shit creek sans paddling device. (Actually, given how things are going, Clinton’s era was a veritable golden age, although let’s not forget that his own “Hillarycare” reforms were shot down by the-then Congress.)
Also from Samizdata, a bit of history from November 10:
Whatever the semblance, nothing about the French Revolution was harmless. The Goddess Reason ascended her throne two months into the Terror. When the Catholic peasants of the Vendée were so ungrateful for the blessings of the Goddess as to attempt counter-revolution, Momoro, the man whose wife had played the role of the Goddess, was deeply involved in its brutal suppression. Chaumette, too, was one of the leading enragés, and soppy modern “liberals” inclined to praise the Cult of Reason as an ancestor of their own views might like to read more about its teachings regarding women. Neither Momoro nor Chaumette had long to enjoy their status as founders. By spring of the next year Robespierre decided to replace the Cult of Reason with the Cult of the Supreme Being. From then on it was the People’s Front of Judea scene from Life of Brian with real deaths. The Committee of Public Safety sent Momoro to the guillotine on 24th March 1794 and Chaumette followed him on 15th April. Robespierre himself fell from power in June and was guillotined in July.
Well, it's about damn time:
Rep. Pete Olson (R-TX) has introduced an Articles of Impeachment resolution against Attorney General Eric Holder for his role in Operation Fast and Furious and other scandals of President Barack Obama’s administration.
Seven congressman have signed onto the resolution thus far in addition to Olson. They are Reps. Larry Bucshon (R-IN), Blake Farenthold (R-TX), Phil Roe (R-TN), Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA), Roger Williams (R-TX), Ted Yoho (R-FL), and Randy Weber (R-TX).
This is kind of hard to read all the way through: special rules for Only Ones.
And some of them wonder why they're not Officer Friendly to us anymore...
I wonder what kind of court case that'd make: "Your Honor, my client simply wants the same considerations the officers get; if he cannot have them, then we file suit."

If you can’t take some joy, some modicum of relief and mirth, in the unprecedentedly spectacular beclowning of the president, his administration, its enablers, and, to no small degree, liberalism itself, then you need to ask yourself why you’re following politics in the first place. Because, frankly, this has been one of the most enjoyable political moments of my lifetime. I wake up in the morning and rush to find my just-delivered newspaper with a joyful expectation of worsening news so intense, I feel like Morgan Freeman should be narrating my trek to the front lawn. Indeed, not since Dan Rather handcuffed himself to a fraudulent typewriter, hurled it into the abyss, and saw his career plummet like Ted Kennedy was behind the wheel have I enjoyed a story more.

At your 2010 health-care summit, you dismissed what you called “house insurance”—cheap, high-deductible policies that protect people from serious illness or injury but otherwise leave them to fund routine medical care out of pocket. How do you reconcile this with your oft-stated promise that people can keep their existing insurance?I don’t reconcile it. I lied in order to get the legislation passed. Among the reasons the Center for Science in the Public Interest can kiss my ass
In the 1980s, some scientists began to associate heart disease with saturated fats, and in response, groups such as the Center for Science in the Public Interest and the National Heart Savers Association (NHSA) began to hound manufacturers for “poisoning America ... by using saturated fats,” and as a result “nearly all targeted firms responded by replacing saturated fats with trans fats,” as David Schleifer wrote in 2012 for the journal Technology and Culture.
At the time, many restaurants used beef fat for frying, which groups like CSPI believed was far worse than hydrogenated oils, based on the research of the time.
...
(in the 1990's) Surprisingly, it was the same organization, CSPI, that later urged the FDA to add trans fats to food labels, and nutrition panels have been required to list the substance since 2006. Though American consumption of trans fat has declined precipitously in recent years, it's still common in food such as microwave popcorn, margarine, and some coffee creamers. But probably not for much longer.

Back to the "Don't talk to the police" matter
From over at Sipsey:
A friend sent me the following links that were posted on the NFAOA "Resources" page several years ago along with this comment:
(I)t is worth resurrecting for a number of reasons. I think the most salient derives from the 2010 article that I've attached, where folks get on lists via (data mining) and classified more or less as criminals without reasonable suspicion being established. Another reason is the profound political discomfort that has resulted from Edward Snowden's disclosures about the extent of domestic spying by the NFA--the fact that the Congress was not aware or read into some of the activities is having repercussions. The reason is that the misuse of "mined" data is a widespread hazard that potentially impacts millions of law-abiding people.I am taking the time to send you this video AND the attached article, because the latter is highly relevant in view of the Snowden disclosures, and the former is one of the most unusual pieces of work that I have ever seen regarding the issue of talking with the police. Possibly the attorneys on this message won't be surprised by the disclosures in the video, I'm not sure; however, I think they are worth passing along. All this stuff is in the public domain, so feel free to share. And with respect, the video is will worth taking a few minutes to watch.
Introduction from the NFAOA page:
Talking to the Police by Professor James Duane
It is well known that virtually all attorneys will advise their clients not to talk to the police, but it is rare to hear detailed, lengthy explanations why this is advisable by an attorney, and even rare to hear it from a police officer. In this taped video presentation, both a licensed attorney and a sworn police officer discuss why talking with the police isn't advisable, even for people who are wholly innocent of a crime which they may be suspected of committing. This video discusses how the police will seize upon a minor discrepancy or circumstantial fact unrelated to a crime, to ensnare an innocent person into a situation in which the police are able to create doubt of innocence. In these circumstances, the police are not your friend; they want to solve a crime. Anybody who has spent any time (for example) reading the hundreds of analyses of firearms cases by James Bardwell cannot help but be struck by the significant number of times that at the time ATF first approached the now-convicted defendant, the now-convicted defendant didn't have a legal problem. What happened is that the now-convicted defendant couldn't keep his mouth shut and talked himself into a violation of the law.
Life in the PROM:
On September 15, 2013 a man by the name of Kendall Green forced his
way into the home of Matthew Pinkerton. Mr. Pinkerton shot and killed
Mr. Green. Mr. Pinkerton is now being charged with 2nd degree
murder in the state of Maryland. The resounding question that the
authorities asked when they arrived and interrogated Mr. Pinkerton?
“Why didn’t you call the police?”
Apparently "Because I'd be dead if I'd grabbed the phone instead of a gun" doesn't count to the authorities there.
More information here, including
According to the DA, Pinkerton exhibited “bizarre behavior” by grabbing his weapon when an unexpected knock came to his door at 2AM that morning. And, because he failed to call 9-1-1 between the time Green kicked in his door and rushed him, he has now been charged with murder by the state.
The bizarre behavior comment is from Assistant State’s Attorney, Glen Neubauer, who apparently thinks holding a phone and pleading for your life is the only acceptable behavior.
I'd imagine there are LOTS of questions yet to be answered; I'd guess the BATFEIEIO is going by the Pelosi "We have to pass this so you can find out what's in it" method.
“While it may appear to some on the Internet that the NFATCA has ‘thrown folks under the bus,’ this is simply not the case,” the group protests, referring to a statement it issued in August when their role as catalyst for the rulemaking change was revealed.
This is pretty damn twisted up.
And a little more happiness[/sarcasm] this morning: some information on some of our most well-known hoplophobes, gun bigots and general dirtbags MDA, Salazar, Bloomberg and McCarthy.
The above found at War on Guns, along with the information that Matt Bracken's Castigo Cay is available for free download through today.
"We're the Only Ones trained and professional enough..."
If they don't hang this crap around "What does it matter?" Clinton's neck, they're fools.
Just read about this: the new Underground Railroad, to find kids kidnapped for sex slaves. This is all I've got on it right now.
I've got a so-so picture of something for a post, I'm going to see if I can get a better one. Plus groceries to look for, and I need stamps. So I must leave you for now.

So in Connecticut if you're depressed or something and go to a hospital,
they take your guns away. Forever.
Public Act No. 13-3 requires all people that voluntarily admit to a hospital for mental health reasons (not solely for drug or alcohol treatment) have their names placed in a database administered by the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services – for the purpose of automatic suspension of Second Amendment rights. This database will link with a database held by the state police that includes all gun permit holders, registered gun owners and anyone who has applied for a gun permit. If there is a “match” between the two databases a letter will go out informing the individual that their Second Amendment rights have been suspended (letter below).
Although you will not receive a letter from the state police, if you are not a “match” you will be notified of your name being put in the database and of the suspension of Second Amendment rights sometime after voluntary admission. The law does not require notice be given to people prior to admitting themselves into a hospital.
Privacy of medical records? Doesn't exist in CT.
And don't even pretend that it's going to be restricted to screwing gun owners; if they can ignore privacy in this, they can ignore it in ANYTHING.

Yes, Hitler and the National Socialists really were
socialists; deal with the fact, 'progressives'.
Damn. Just think where we'd be if Obama & Co. weren't preventing more exploration/drilling on public land.
Speaking of dirtbag Democrats, Rep. Cummings(Bloody Hands-PROM) & Co. really don't want Issa getting these clowns in for questioning, do they?
I mean, really, where does he get off thinking he has some right to ask questions of Administration officials? He think he's an actual Representative or something? It's like him thinking the AG should actually answer questions or something.
Considering the attitude of 'Think Progress' on guns and owners, I'm going with lying bastards.
How to avoid getting arrested; didn't know about this book, will have to check into it.
Some of the tips... guy on Bookface put it well: This also sounds like a guide that could have been in the 1930s to avoid being purged by Stalin. And that's really scary.
Quote of the Day, thanks to Mr. Huffman:
Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters.
Daniel Webster
"You commoners shouldn't be allowed guns for self-defense, but you should pay for a crew to protect my precious ass, because I'm important!"
Got some things to do today, but will have a post on something interesting later. More carport work will have to wait; it's cold and blowing hard out there.

Oh, bleep... if only we could import the damn things...
The video below shows members of the Free Syrian Army who are fighting against the forces of Syrian “President” Bashar al-Assad that have stumbled upon a contrainer full of rifles. The rebel member who posted the video mistakenly claimed that they had found 5,000 AK-47s. Nope, turns out they stumbed upon 5,000 German WWII STG-44 rifles.
Here in Oklahoma, here it comes
Rep. Mike Shelton says he planned to host an interim legislative study on Tuesday to look at both the state's open carry law, which allows licensed adults to openly display a handgun, and the "Stand Your Ground" law that allows the use of deadly force.
But he says some local gun rights groups that he spoke with "simply stopped returning our calls."
Don Spencer with the Oklahoma Second Amendment Association and a well-known gun rights advocate at the Capitol, says he wasn't invited to participate in the study.
Shelton says he still plans to introduce "gun safety" legislation next session.
Interestingly, I only found this story on the linked site and at Daily Kos(short version: "Oklahoma gun owners are racists and want to kill people for entertainment").
Did a bit more searching, and- SURPRISE!- the Martin/Zimmerman case is involved.
"Is there a clear line on Stand Your Ground?," asked Oklahoma Representative Mike Shelton, (D) Oklahoma City, who is now calling for a legislative study into the law.
"It's my hope to take this opportunity to give people a voice whether they are for or against it," said Rep. Shelton.
And here we go: "I'm a gun owner, BUT-"
Rep. Shelton is a registered gun owner who has been opposed to "Stand Your Ground" and "Make My Day" laws.
And he wonders why civil rights groups don't want to play with him.
From the SFGate article:
Shelton says he still plans to introduce "gun safety" legislation next session.
Three guesses what he considers 'gun safety'. And yes, the quotes are in the original.

The outcry over the controversial not guilty
verdict in the George Zimmerman case has lawmakers in Oklahoma taking a
closer look at the "Stand Your Ground" law.

Specifically for 'law enforcement officers' who forget that oath,
and think that badge means "I can do whatever the hell I want", I'm of the opinion we should bring back the
whipping post in the town square.
At the least.
The ACLU is representing a New Mexico woman in her fifties who was subjected by federal agents to a two-handed (!) vaginal and anal examination, an involuntary X-ray and CAT scan, and was forced to defecate in front of strangers. The woman was suspected of being in possession of drugs, on the basis of a drug-dog alert at the Juarez/El Paso border-crossing. No drugs were found. The federal agents -- it's not clear what agency they were with -- did not obtain a warrant. The doctors at University Medical Center in El Paso performed the procedures without the victim's consent, including the CT scan, which subjects people to a high dose of potentially harmful radiation.
"We're Feds, we don't need no stinking warrant!"
Piece of history, Why Registration Is A Bad Idea, #Ican'tevenremember:
...The government gullibly neglected to consider that only law-abiding citizens would register, while political extremists and criminals would not. However, it did warn that the gun-registration records must be carefully stored so they would not fall into the hands of extremists.
The ultimate extremist group, led by Adolf Hitler, seized power just a year later, in 1933. The Nazis immediately used the firearms-registration records to identify, disarm and attack “enemies of the state,” a euphemism for Social Democrats and other political opponents of all types. Police conducted search-and-seizure operations for guns and “subversive” literature in Jewish communities and working-class neighborhoods.
...By fall of 1938, the Nazis were ratcheting up measures to expropriate the assets of Jews. To ensure that they had no means of resistance, the Jews were ordered to surrender their firearms.
Flatow walked into a Berlin police station to comply with the command and was arrested on the spot, as were other Jews standing in line. The arrest report confirmed that his pistols were duly registered, which was obviously how the police knew he had them. While no law prohibited a Jew from owning guns, the report recited the Nazi mantra: “Jews in possession of weapons are a danger to the German people.” Despite his compliance, Flatow was turned over to the Gestapo.
And we know how far downhill it went from there.
At the least.

I know I'm late, but Happy Birthday, Marines
And Mr. Rowe says it very well.
Robb Allen put it And on the 8th day, God created the Marines And the devil ran in fear.
On the dishonorable side of life, screwing people who helped us:
A growing number of Afghan interpreters who worked alongside American troops are being denied U.S. visas allotted by Congress because the State Department says there is no serious threat against their lives.
This is one of those pieces of absolute bullshit that President Lightworker could clear up with a phone call or memo; but he's to effing busy getting in another round of golf and then denying he's responsible for his pile of crap in the floor. And ignoring a fairly significant bit of history.
What happens when being PC and 'diverse' is more important than getting the job done.

A quick post before the day really starts
Florida House committee has an attack of brains: attempt to trash SYG law stopped cold.
Please note the bastards didn't just want to get rid of SYG:
One particularly awkward part of the testimony involved the revelation that the proposed bill would have the effect not only of repealing Stand-Your-Ground out in public but also the Castle Doctrine in one’s home. The bill sponsor Rep. Williams acknowledged this to be the case, but suggested it was a “glitch” that could be fixed later. Even more awkward was when Rep. Williams was questioned on various aspects of Florida’s self-defense law (section 776), and clearly had no idea what the law was.
Finally, and perhaps most telling, Williams closing arguments of the night focused not on Stand-Your-Ground at all, but on the self-defense immunity provisions of the law. The anti-self-defense crowd really, REALLY hates self-defense immunity.
Why don't most journalists report on crap in communist/socialist countries?
"I'm a lying bastard, and I'm going to keep lying."
"I'm shocked- SHOCKED!- that these illegal aliens and activists are such dirtbags!"
And more wonders of modern 'law enforcement'.

Busy few days,
so little blogging for a while.
No, I do NOT need to bring the Roger 'toon back out. Repairs on a carport for one thing, which I will hopefully accomplish without further loss of blood or movement.
By the way, for future reference: those Skele-Toes shoes I like? On a shingle roof they have approximately the same traction as leather soles on a newly-waxed floor(dammit, I said no new injuries, shut up).
Also, the store-brand chain lube from Cycle Gear works wonderfully on the joints of a folding ladder.
The irony is interesting, is it not?
Ayoob asked for comments on people reporting a friend/relative/someone at school who may be a threat, and this in the comments is dead-on:
...The drug war has driven a wedge between law enforcement and the general public. The war mentality has bleed over from drug enforcement to taint other forms of policing.
There are now law enforcement officers who claim that American cops face the same dangers on patrol as our soldiers do in Afghanistan. [1]
There was recently a SWAT style raid of an animal clinic. [2] When asked why the raid was conducted in that style, a supervisor explained that they just go ahead and kick in doors in drugs cases, so why should they do anything differently here.*
Given this militarization of police forces, I think that some people are afraid to reach out to law enforcement when a loved one is having mental issues due to a fear that the first response to such an issue will be violent.
Exactly. There's a big difference between thinking "If I call the police/sheriff, someone'll come talk to him and look into things" and "Well shit, if I call the cops they're likely to kick the doors in and kill somebody."
Film taken during WWII shows a Spitfire making a forced-landing; the pilot gets to see it in 2005.
*and I don't doubt the idiots in question were all butthurt when the populace announced "We think you're heavy-handed assholes" for doing it.

It's a brave man who writes a campus paper and states
"There IS no 'rape culture'!"
The expected and usual 'feminist' outrage follows.
A while back a lady wrote this fine piece, and caught eight levels of hell for 'blaming the victims', 'excusing men of guilt', etc. ad Bullshit. Personally I thought it was good advice to tell a girl heading off to college "It's not a good idea to get fall-on-your-ass drunk at parties. ANY parties. Especially to do it regularly", and said so on Bookface.
Guess what?
I know it classes me(to the 'enlightened') as a knuckle-dragging misogynist rape-culture apologist, but I'll say it again: you have a friend/relative who's heading off to college? TELL THEM THAT. Female and male both.
One of the things that pisses me off about this: If you announced you told that piece of advice to every young male you knew, before they headed to college, a lot/most of the same people screaming 'VICTIM BLAMING!' about this would probably congratulate you(the others would accuse you of 'trying to keep them from enjoying the College Experience', which proves they're friggin' idiots and to be ignored). And if a guy got drunk as hell and got in some kind of trouble, and you pointed that out to others as a fine bad example, they'd either agree, no cries of VB would be heard. Some would even announce he deserved the trouble for being stupid.
But give girls the same advice?
Also proving I don't have the proper-for-modern-life mindset, I think that '20 percent of college women are sexually assaulted' figure is bullshit. Unless you include in that number females waking up and realizing "I slept with HIM?" or deciding later "We were both drunk, and I climbed on him, but that doesn't change that HE ASSAULTED ME!" and other such crap(I've said that, too; more of the same 'You don't care about women/rape/why don't you teach your sons not to rape!' garbage in return).
Guns & Ammo cans Metcalf.
More on that "People who should never have been allowed to carry a badge" story the other day:
Eckert was sent a $6,000 bill for the medical procedures he involuntarily underwent, his lawyer says.
At the end of the story:
Kennedy filed a motion for summary judgment Oct. 24, asking the court to rule on the facts of the case, which she says are not disputed. She says defendants responded by expressing interest in resolving the case outside of court.
Yeah, I'll bet they'd LOVE to keep this from getting in front of a jury.
A: Yes, Obamacare will screw with employer-provided insurance, too.
B: Remember, this was said by the same asshole now insisting that, for instance, men should have to pay for maternity coverage on themselves:
In 2009, Mr. Obama explained to NPR, "I'm on record as saying that taxing 'Cadillac' plans that don't make people healthier, but just take more money out of their pockets because they're paying more for insurance than they need to, that's actually a good idea and that helps bend the cost curve. That helps to reduce the cost of health care over the long term. I think that's a smart thing to do."
Ah, but THESE polls don't count. Or something.
Florida Democrats A: Don't want to hear from you(or you to speak at all, it seems), and
B: want to trash protections for self-defenders.

Turns out the bastards have done this TWICE
That we know of.
KOB-TV 4 is now reporting a second incident where New Mexico cops did the same thing to a random driver who committed a minor traffic violation.
In October of last year, Timothy Young was pulled over for failing to signal a turn. After a drug-sniffing dog indicated that Young might be carrying drugs, police obtained a warrant and took him to Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City. There, doctors administered anal exams, including enemas, X-rays and a colonoscopy.
Young suffered through a similar ordeal as David Eckert, who was pulled over by police in January and taken to Gila Regional against his will using an expired, invalid warrant. (RELATED: Horror: Police force man to undergo invasive anal operation)
And get this:
There is no indication that the same officers were involved in both cases. What is clear, however, is that the same drug-sniffing dog was used both times.
The dog’s name is Leo, and according to KOB-TV 4, he is no longer licensed by the state of New Mexico to assist police in drug searches. Drug-sniffing dogs must be re-certified each year; Leo’s license expired in April of 2012, months before the Young and Eckert incidents.
Gee, I wonder why they might be using an uncertified dog for this work, hmmm?
KOB-TV 4 is now reporting a second incident where New Mexico cops did the same thing to a random driver who committed a minor traffic violation.
In October of last year, Timothy Young was pulled over for failing to signal a turn. After a drug-sniffing dog indicated that Young might be carrying drugs, police obtained a warrant and took him to Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City. There, doctors administered anal exams, including enemas, X-rays and a colonoscopy.

Hang the bastards. The cops, the deputies, the doctors (link fixed)
and the judge who signed the warrant.
If we can't hang them, then sue for everything they have or ever will have.
Eckert's attorney, Shannon Kennedy, said in an interview with KOB that after law enforcement asked him to step out of the vehicle, he appeared to be clenching his buttocks. Law enforcement thought that was probable cause to suspect that Eckert was hiding narcotics in his anal cavity. While officers detained Eckert, they secured a search warrant from a judge that allowed for an anal cavity search.
And it gets worse every step of the way.
The level of disgusting... this doesn't even aspire to 'fail', it would have to improve by multiple levels to reach that.

November E-Postal match is up
Over here.
In Colorado, the leftists trying to keep Hudak in office are getting both more violent and downright slanderous.
At another site however, the Brownies were noticeably more proactive, jumping out into traffic, shouting into peoples windows, and getting in the faces of those attempting to sign a petition. The police were called and the harassment ended. Why are anti-gun people so violent?
Saw one of the door hangers distributed by the Hudak people. Very professionally written and printed, the sort of thing the government might put out to warn the citizens of the presence of a rampaging rabid werewolf. Petition circulators were described as either identity thieves or sex offenders. Shades of the land shark skit from SNL. I'll try to get one to put up here in the next day or two.
Mr. Huffman ran across a fine example of a politically-correct bigot and general "I don't care about that rule of law or individual rights shit" dirtbag going by The Coquette who writes an advice column, and he engaged her on the matter. She proceeded to prove exactly what she is.
Then some of her sympathizers went over to Joe's to lecture on what nasty people we are, putting individual rights and freedom above what they consider 'the greater good'.
Downright disgusting.

Among the most idiotic defenses I've heard of Obamacare:
Along similar lines, “Spandan C” argued on a progressive blog that it was good to force men to pay for maternity benefits that they would never need, because “they are the ones that get women pregnant, and therefore should have to pay part of the cost.”
..........
Just digest that for a minute. Think about the level of stupid involved. I'm asking you to, because this is making my head hurt.
Once more, let it be noted that being caught lying isn't enough; Obama's running around lying about having lied.
And if he did, it's all for our own good, of course. Assuming your own good involves being subsumed into a zombie of the State.
And the reason he didn't give this speech is he's never in his life had the balls or integrity to do so.

If you have a spider problem,
check your bananas.
Consi Taylor, 29, of London, told The Sun that she saw “funny looking spots” on her banana that she first thought was only mold.
“[B]ut when I had a closer look I saw some funny looking spots…and was horrified to see they were spiders. They were hatching out on the table, scurrying around on my carpet,” she said.
To make matters worse, she would later discover that the dozens of spiders were Brazilian wandering spiders, or banana spiders — and they are highly venomous.
Couple of years back they found an adult in some bananas in a store in Germany, and in 2009 they found one in Tulsa; I can think of visitors from Brazil I'd much rather see

Oh, Obama is now trying to cover lying(repeated, deliberately, with malice) with another lie: ...what we said was you can keep it if it hasn’t changed since the law passed.
That is such a flat, open, public, deliberate lie I'm kind of surprised that even Obama can look anyone in the eye and speak it.
Because that black guy was obviously some kind of racist; he's a Republican, after all.
Speaking of bigotry, Orson Scott Card is against homosexual marriage, and doesn't approve of homosexuality; therefore
And note the goal post shifting going on here - not supporting gay marriage == homophobia == hating gays == racism (?) == advocating violence against gays == being a monster in human form.
Guy named Dick Metcalf writes at Guns & Ammo magazine; and is using the gun bigots understanding of 'well-regulated'. Among other things.
I don't think this is going to help their sales.
Well, according to this the Obama team is worried about what happens if they actually get the website working and lots more people find out how badly they're going to get screwed by Obamacare. The fun just keeps coming, doesn't it?
Speaking of which, I wonder what the people always whining about Stupid Party and crony capitalism will think of the bailouts for insurance companies in Dear Leader's plan?
I think this is worth noting a again: Parent has a problem with kids' school assignment, contacts teacher about it. And then
After contacting his daughter’s teacher, Barry heard back from the school’s principal. After a discussion, a friend of Barry’s relayed a voicemail she received from another teacher named Cydnee Cohen.
Cohen, who is also the president of the local chapter of the teacher’s union — the East Pembrook Education Association, which is part of the Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA) — said on the voicemail, “We’re having some problems with a parent in our school district and on his [Facebook] page you are one of his friends … but I would like to know, some of it seems like he is a neo-Nazi.”
Cohen then says, “Maybe he is Jewish, I don’t know.”
After it was confirmed that Barry is, in fact, Jewish, Cohen sent text messages to the mutual friend which read “he went to bishop mcdevitt!!” and “he is tea party right wing!” Bishop McDevitt is a nearby private Catholic high school.
Wonderful sort to be teaching kids, isn't she?

Frogg Toggs makes a good rainsuit; their customer service, however
apparently is nonexistent.
Bought a rainsuit a few months back. About a month ago pulled it out to use and the zipper slide broke. Ok, no big deal, write them and see about a replacement, right?
Go to site, use contact form to ask about how to get a replacement.
No answer as of a week later.
Write again a few days after that.
Never an answer.
Gave up on the clowns, found one about the same size and got it to work.
So if you have a problem with Frogg Toggs, don't count on them reading your message. Or doing anything about it.

The University of Kentucky training informers;
how very progressive of them.
The University of Kentucky has a website that students can use to rat on fellow students who violate the university’s no tobacco policy because, as the school says, “compliance is everyone’s business.” They can confidentially report the date and time of day a violation occurred and a description of the student. Moreover, the school has“ambassadors”commissars(there, fixed it) who “inform” students, staff, and
visitors of the school’s policy.
That "The people losing their policies, those policies were terrible!" argument is just as bullshit as Obama saying "You will be able to keep your policy!"
Never let it be forgotten: Hollywood is part of the enemy.
So start telling your congresscritters to cut the Hollywood tax breaks.

3.5 million have already lost their insurance.
And yeah, it's pissing them off; anybody surprised?
The Scottsdale Country Day School is run by idiots.
And the principal appears to have delusion of adequacy.
Question an assignment, be accused of being a nazi. And tea-party 'right wing'.
“New product lets sportsmen know when drones are near,” a recent Outdoor Hub headline proclaimed. “Technology firm DroneShield has created a device that is capable of detecting nearby unmanned aerial vehicles, also known as drones.”
Daughter was at a steampunk convention this weekend. also at the location:
"There was a full-blown Toddlers and Tiaras style pageant going on at the hotel during the convention. There were even at least two people who have actually been featured on that show there.
It was...disturbing. There was a bikini competition, apparently. For girls under 10. Down to literal toddlers...like barely old enough to walk, in bikinis."
There are parents out there who could do with a serious series of kicks in the ass. Or a really severe beating with a clue bat.

Of course they'll smear a cancer patient;
anyone who causes problems for Dear Leader must be punished.
If you hadn't heard about this, here's the story.
My grievance is not political; all my energies are directed to enjoying life and staying alive, and I have no time for politics. For almost seven years I have fought and survived stage-4 gallbladder cancer, with a five-year survival rate of less than 2% after diagnosis. I am a determined fighter and extremely lucky. But this luck may have just run out: My affordable, lifesaving medical insurance policy has been canceled effective Dec. 31.
More on what violations of law the IRS has been up to, and their- and the Justice Department- attempts to ignore it. Minimize it. Fail to bring the guilty to justice.
For the IRS to function effectively, it needs both a reasonable budget and to be apolitical. It’s vital that the Department of Justice go after individuals who turn the IRS into a political organization from an apolitical one. Yet the current Administration apparently doesn’t see the urgency in this issue. That’s a huge mistake, and one that will definitely come back to haunt them and all Americans. We need a well functioning IRS…and given what the Administration is doing (and not doing), it’s very likely the budget for the IRS will continue to shrink.
Well, yeah; when they can't be trusted not to abuse their position, why would you want to give them more money to do it with?
Even for Feinstein, this is one of the most idiotic 'excuses/explanations' for serial lying I've ever seen.
As fine an example of "The power to tax is the power to destroy" combined with standard-issue dumbass. From the same kind of idiots who'll be controlling health care.
Speaking of Feinstein, the M&P is apparently her new talking point.
And JJ MacNab would be advised to find out what the hell she's talking about before she starts typing. And Forbes would be advised to see that she does so.

Because Stupid and Marx just to together, and Stupid is always with us
I can't quite believe that I've just sat through ten minutes of BBC
television in which British journalists Owen Jones and Zoe Williams have defended Karl Marx as the prophet of the End of Capitalism.
Unbelievable because I had thought Marxism was over with the fall of the
Berlin Wall – when we discovered that socialism was one part bloodshed,
one part farce. But unbelievable also because you'd have to be a pretty
lacking in moral sensitivity to defend a thinker whose work sent
millions of people to an early grave.
But they all died to serve The Collective, so it's all good, right?
His view that all human relations are shaped by economics and that everything we do is measured in purely material terms reduced the individual to a pawn in a historic war between competing classes. You're not a person – you're either an exploiter or an alienated peasant. At least the crowned tyrants who preceded him had some sense of the value of the human soul; at least they saw their power as limited by God, tradition and a passing respect for conscience. After Marx, all these things stood in the way of progress and could be brushed aside with the swish of a signature on a death list. Throw into the mix Karl's belief that the working-class could not lose – historical determinism – and you get the kind of fanatical, anti-human view of life that would end inevitably in gulags. "To keep you is no benefit, to destroy you is no loss," said the teenage vanguard of the Cambodian communists. Compelling logic to the intellectually unformed.
Insty keeps pointing out that defenders of and apologists for communism are just as disgusting as defenders of and apologists for the nazis; we need to keep pointing that out to the idiots.
So, at the least, Moms Demand Action are arguing from a position of high-level ignorance.
Or stupidity, take your pick.
Obama says he's 'really good at killing people'. Yeah, like "I got bin Laden!" The troops, the techs, the intel, they're nothing; HE'S it because "It's ALL about ME!"
Especially when you consider, from what we've found out, the chickenshit refused to ok the bin Laden mission, what, twice?, before some adults told Jarrett to shut up and pushed it through.
On the brass cleaning front, after it dried looked it over, and the stuff didn't strip off every trace of the lube, only about 85-90% of it. Which is a lot better than soap & water did. I think using a little more degreaser, or a little more time, would've gotten just about all of it.

Well, that actually worked!
I've been using Lee case lube for resizing*, and the usual process after to remove it has been
Put in bottle with soapy water.
Shake.
Leave a while.
Shake.
Drain, rinse, drain.
Dry.
Tumble to get rid of what that doesn't remove.
Was starting to add water to clean off some cases that've been sitting in the bottle waiting, when what did my wandering eyes did appear but a bottle of the degreaser I use for all kinds of stuff.
Well, why not?
Put in enough water to cover the cases, added- I'd guess- about two ounces, shook it, let it sit a couple of minutes, shook again, drained enough to get a case out to examine. And it was CLEAN. So drained the rest and rinsed, and that stuff appears to have stripped every trace of lube off the cases. I've got them drying now, I think they're only going to need a few minutes tumbling to shine them a bit.
This was a lot faster, and should prevent the tumbler media being crudded up with lube. And I get the stuff at the dollar store(think Wally World carries it too).
*Can't find the post right now, but someone suggested putting some in a small pump-spray bottle, add alcohol, shake to dissolve, then spray to lube. It works.

insurance, required training, gun OWNERS registered, more taxes on firearms, but none of that counts as infringement! Oh no, I don't want to infringe on the right to arms!"
If you didn't have to register to comment, I'd think of a polite way to call 'BULLSHIT!', and send her Lawdog's post on 'just like cars'.

I know I shouldn't be surprised,
but I am, by the- well, make your choice: it's either "Don't give a shit" or "Utter ruthlessness in the pursuit of the Collective goal" of the people who want Obamacare to take over.
Short version, got into an argument with some people who either overlooked or refused to see the information about all the people losing their insurance because "Your plan doesn't have Obama's approval." Pointed that out, and ran into two things:
"It's the insurance companies fault, they're greedy!" or
"They can go on the ACA site and find better!"
NO recognition of, or worse, don't give a shit that lots of these people don't WANT 'better'; they want to keep the policy Obama promised them they could.
"That was a lousy policy, they need better!"
What if they don't think it was lousy, and don't WANT 'better'?
The answer boils down to "It's better for the collective. So screw anyone who doesn't like it."
Yeah, some people will love it; they'll get OPM to make Obamacare affordable, so screw everyone else. It's a big step toward total government control of health care, so it's worth all the misery and trouble.
I admit, I had no idea how ruthless these people I know are, so long as it's for 'a good cause'.
By the way, when you point out that if it's the insurance company lobbyists behind it all that means that Obama is bought & paid-for by them, they don't like that either.

which will clear our officers(no matter what they did).'
Why yes, I am rather distrustful of LE in such things; tell me why I shouldn't be.
From the Dutchman, a piece on ATF apologist begging for money, and possible collusion in the past between ATF and the NRA:
As Uncle says, this guy actually looked at the facts and reconsidered his position; he actually THOUGHT about it. Well done.
The Goldilocks approach to gun control
Which kind of fits with the current defense of Liar Obama, "He had to 'cause you're stupid."
Speaking of stupid, found this linked at Drudge:
FYI last night at the Great Falls Grange debate, Democrat delegate candidate Kathleen Murphy said that since many doctors are not accepting medicaid and medicare patients, she advocates making it a legal requirement for those people to be accepted.
Yeah, that'll work well.

From the Dutchman, a piece on ATF apologist begging for money, and possible collusion in the past between ATF and the NRA:
I have previously excoriated Dan Freedman as "The Cowardly Liar," and "ATF's favorite press flack." Now comes Freedman shaking the tin cup for more ATF power and money: "ATF poorly armed with funding as duties grow."
It has the usual tripe about Fast and Furious, including this gem:
The misguided Operation Fast and Furious, in which agents in Phoenix were told to stand by while Mexican drug cartel intermediaries bought weapons in local gun stores and smuggled them across the border, largely resulted from management errors within the bureau and the local U.S. attorney's office.
Ah, yes, the "botched operation." You know, the one that Freedman at first studiously ignored and then, when it became embarrassing, minimized. But there is also this interesting factoid:
There are many forces behind the agency's second-class status. One is federal law enforcement competition, where the agency has long struggled with the FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration and others for dollars.
But a major factor is the political animosity generated by enforcing gun laws. The NRA stands out as the single organization in or out of government most intimately involved in shaping the bureau's mission.
Jim Pasco, an ATF lobbyist on Capitol Hill in the 1980s and '90s, recalls negotiating the agency's budget with his NRA counterpart, Jim Baker.
"I'd say, 'I need 200 more agents, 100 more inspectors,' " said Pasco, who added that he promised the new hires would stick to chasing criminals with guns, not the gun owners and collectors who are the bulwark of the NRA.
After that, he said, Baker "would sign off."Baker, now the gun group's senior lobbyist, insists that the NRA never had veto power over agency's budgets. "The contention that somehow the NRA is responsible for the amount of money appropriated or not appropriated for ATF is erroneous," he said.
Which is no denial of Pasco's contention. "Give us more power and money and we promise we won't target law-abiding firearm owners." Yeah, that's worked out real well over the past couple of decades.
I read this promise that "the new hires would stick to chasing criminals with guns" and immediately had this image form in my head: "Little Jimmy" Vann and the anti-firearm zealots in the Chief Counsel's Office are sitting in a meeting being briefed on next year's budget by Pasco and laughing uproariously. "Little Jimmy" is saying incredulously, "And he BOUGHT that?!? What an idiot!"
More evidence of symbiosis, if any were needed, between the gun cops and the Lairds of Fairfax.
LATER: Freedman also filed this subtle rewriting of history: "How the NRA became ATF's biggest enemy."There is mention of the anger at the early ATF outrages, but no mention of the "go along get along" NRA leadership that gave the ATF a pass until the movement led by Neal Knox swept them away. No mention of the revanchist coup of the old guard that toppled Knox and led to the regime of Wayne LaPierre and the Lairds of Fairfax. (See The Gun Rights War.) No mention that the struggle for the soul of the NRA continues to this day with a board badly split between principle and appeasement. But then that wouldn't fit Freedman's meme.
As Uncle says, this guy actually looked at the facts and reconsidered his position; he actually THOUGHT about it. Well done.
