No wonder the socialists want us to be more like Europe;
they'd love to be able to ignore inconvenient laws, too.
“According to the Weser-Kurier daily, officials would ‘in carrying out the duties of their office, tread upon private property and enter private buildings,” reports the Friedrich Naumann Foundation. “The provision of the German Constitution for the inviolability of the home would in this respect be curtailed.”
“Here Lohse is creating nothing less than an environment police,” the Foundation added.
For some reason a lot of people really don't like that part of David to be remembered, let alone brought out this way.
ArmaLite’s ads broke the unwritten rules. Instead of highlighting the hero’s body, they emphatically made him a warrior. Hence Franceschini’s objection to an “armed David,” even though every David is armed. “David famously used a slingshot to defeat the giant Goliath, making the gun imagery, thought up by the Illinois-based ArmaLite, even more inappropriate,” writes Emma Hall in Ad Age.
To the contrary, the gun imagery, while incongruously machine-age, was utterly appropriate. David did not use a “slingshot.” He used a sling. As historians of ancient warfare -- and readers of Malcolm Gladwell’s latest book, “David and Goliath” -- know, a sling was no child’s toy. It was a powerful projectile weapon, a biblical equivalent of ArmaLite’s wares.
Speaking of which, I'm on my way to make some noise. Bye.

If you're in Kansas, you need to yell at your legislator
because this is bullshit.
The Kansas House Standing Committee on Corrections and Juvenile Justice has introduced a bill that will require private citizens who file complaints against police officers to sign an affidavit, acknowledging that if their allegations are proven false, they can be charged with perjury, which is a felony charge.
Furthermore, this bill prohibits a Kansas law enforcement agency from opening an investigation into a complaint if another law enforcement agency has already investigated the complaint and found in favor of the officer.
Wonderful, huh? Rubber-stamp a "No problem found" paper and charge the citizen who had the nerve to file a complaint with perjury. AND no other state agency could investigate it. Can you say "Kissing up to the police union"? Can you say "Horrible piece of crap bill"?
And it gets a bit worse:
Who actually authored this bill remains unclear, as the bill was introduced by the House Committee on Corrections and Juvenile Justice.
Which means the clown(s) who actually wrote it are too chickenshit to put their names to it. It's as if they think people might be upset about this, and they're too cowardly to face that.
A doc who says flatly ADHD does not exist. Considering the way that diagnosis has been abused, including by schools to make students more controllable, I don't know about 'doesn't exist' but it damn well is overused.
"I'm Eric Holder and I represent Obama; what do I care if I actually have legal authority for anything?"

Moms Want Action and Bloomberg tactic: Lie
Mothers Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, an organization funded by billionaire Michael R. Bloomberg, is falsely claiming a victory for forcing a billboard company to take down a Slide Fire advertisement in Chicago.
The truth is that the manufacturer contracted for the billboard to stay up for only two months.
Real sticklers for the truth, aren't they?

It has to be asked: what cartridge for
late-dinosaur-age chicken?
If you took a chicken, crossed it with an ostrich, bulked it up to 500 pounds, stretched it out to roughly 11 feet, put a bony crest on its head (like some ancient Greek helmet), added a dinosaur tail and a pair of forelimbs with five-inch claws, and then, finally, stuck some feathers on it ... you would have what paleontologist formally calls Anzu wyliei.
Depending on range, I'm thinking 12-gauge magnum buckshot or something in a nice .30-caliber.

"Just pay for my trip and don't ask questions, peasants!"
Michelle Obama’s trip to China starting on Wednesday will be
nonpolitical, the White House says, a “people-to-people exchange”
emphasizing the importance that both nations place on education. As if
to underscore the point, no reporters are traveling with the first lady, and she does not plan to give interviews while there.
How many vacations does that make so far this year?
And you'll LOVE this:
Experts on the office of the first lady say the context of Mrs. Obama’s visit is quite different. Throughout her time in the White House, she has been decidedly nonpolitical, they say, and her focus on education and young people in China fits neatly with the causes she champions at home and on other trips abroad.
Question: how much crap do these 'experts' have in their nose from Mrs. Obama stopping without warning?
Well, NYEffing City, you voted for it and you're getting it. Good and hard.
In New York, Mayor Bill de Blasio has embarked on a systematic campaign to destroy the city’s burgeoning charter school movement. He’s diverting more than $200 million in funding marked for charter schools, and has also thrown hundreds of students out of their promised school buildings. He has also declared his intent to nullify arrangements that allow charters to locate in existing public schools rent-free.
The mayor’s open warfare against Eva Moskowitz, who founded a network of 22 charter schools, has all the markings of a petulant tyrant holding low-income students hostage. De Blasio has said, “There’s no way in hell Eva Moskowitz should get free rent” — as if the 6,700 students in the charter schools she runs were a mere afterthought in his personal vendetta against a fellow Democrat.
And the poor kids Mayor Commie claims to love are getting it hardest. Interesting, isn't it?

Say the leftists: "Vote fraud is almost non-existent!"
Except when it's not.
Parting thought: A quick calculation, as a point of reference. This local reporter found 94 illegally registered voters in one small region using one narrow verification method. If you extrapolate his number over Florida's 67 counties, that's nearly 6,300 people. In 2000, the United States Presidency was determined by 537 Florida votes.
Which explains why the Democrats overall are so dead-set against stopping vote fraud.
Why I have 'Dumbass feminism' and 'Progressive dirtbag' categories:
Hey, Morgan, you really want to be part of the oppressed? Move to, say, parts of Afghanistan, or to Saudi Arabia; you'll be oppressed to your hearts content.
But you won't; because you don't REALLY want to be an oppressed, you just want to whine about it to show how much you dislike yourself(if you really do) and how compassionate you are.
Remember that tiger that had taken its ninth victim? Remembered hadn't heard more, so did a quick search at that news site. Among the links found:
Man-eater killed
Ninth victim
And a croc getting into the act
Obviously she's a racist for talking about this. Or something.
Erica Connor's eyes widen as she reads the four-page letter purportedly outlining a plot by Muslim fundamentalists to take over state education.
It brings back terrible memories for the former headmistress who won £400,000 in compensation after religious zealots forced her out of the primary school she loved in the English Home Counties.
‘It’s a letter that makes me realise nothing has changed in our schools,’ she tells us with a sad smile. ‘Muslim extremists used an identical strategy to get rid of me and nearly ruined my life.’
The enemies of America know they are faced with the ultimate incompetent: the sort who keeps doubling down on a losing hand because he’s too vain to admit error and unable to even see he’s losing. They’re going to keep selling him rotgut and he’s going to keep onselling it to the Rubes as long as it lasts. As Jennifer Rubin wrote in the Washington Post: ‘Obama is never wrong, never responsible’. He can’t admit to a mistake. It will all work out when he finds the right strategic partner.
And right now lots of troops are wondering what the hell the incompetent is going to get them into.

Democrat excuse for EVERYTHING: "RACISM!!"
Pennsylvania Democrats were caught on surveillance tape reportedly
accepting cash bribes in return for opposing voter ID in the
Pennsylvania legislature. Gifts of Tiffany’s jewelry were also given to
Democrat legislators from Philadelphia, reportedly in exchange for “NO”
votes on a Pennsylvania voter ID bill that passed in 2012.
Despite this evidence, Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane has not charged any officials. Kane is a Democrat.
Kane’s excuse for her inaction? Racism: some of the legislators caught on tape accepting bribes were black Democrats from Philadelphia.
What's that? Will the DoJ do anything...
ahem. Sorry, had to stop laughing.

If everyone in America had been tied to a chair and forced to watch the debate Clockwork-Orange style, we'd all realize that the Senate is just a holding tank for people whose self-regard and cretinous reasoning is matched only by their demonstrable contempt for the idiots they think will lap this crap up.

Which part of '4th Amendment' do these idiots not understand?

We're supposed to trust judges why, again?

'How dare you criticize how we acted! We're under real stress, there!"
The people in this story complained about having to stay in their homes and being intimidated by “big scary men in black with guns” (I’m sure our female officers who were involved would take exception to that characterization). Apparently since no one, let alone the residents of Laurel Street, knew where or even if Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was still in the area, I suppose a cursory search of the area while explaining police tactics to each and every neighbor would suffice in their minds.
I suppose acting like COPS instead of infantry, cops who swore to uphold the Constitution- including that 4th Amendment that you seem to find so inconvenient- wouldn't do; no, you had to point guns at anyone looking out a window, and shove into homes without a warrant and otherwise act like thugs. "It was an emergency!" suffices in your mind for violating law.
In a way, the real winner is this: ...let the professionals do their jobs, and keep your second guessing to yourselves.
Screw you, Mr. Boston Police Dept. (retired). The people you work for get to decide what they think of the way you act, whether you like it or not. And they can yell about it when you act like occupying infantry.
Time matters, but judges and law enforcement act as if unarmed citizens have all the time in the world. That is exactly the problem we have with citizen self-defense in California.
"Most transparent administration" my ass.
The rewrite came in an April 15, 2009, memo from then-White House Counsel Greg Craig instructing the executive branch to let White House officials review any documents sought by FOIA requestors that involved "White House equities."
That phrase is nowhere to be found in the FOIA, yet the Obama White House effectively amended the law to create a new exception to justify keeping public documents locked away from the public.
All while Obama and Kerry are pretending their outrage and stern-faced "Stop this, or we'll protest again!" bullshit means something...
Just as the fall of Assad would be a devastating blow to Russia and Iran, the Axis must defend the Venezuelan dictatorship, because its fall would seriously challenge the anti-Western alliance. Venezuela is a lynchpin in the Axis. Caracas launders money, transships weapons (as between Russia, Syria and Iran, for example) and drugs, and provides safe havens and training facilities for jihadis, from which they can move toward our poorly defended southern border. Thus Cubans fight Venezuelans in the streets. Thus Russian warships are headed for the Caribbean and the southern oceans.
Ah, more of the Hope! and Change!! of Obamacare. Hey, all you people who cried for Obama to save you: we warned you.
Health industry officials say ObamaCare-related premiums will double in some parts of the country, countering claims recently made by the administration.
...
“My gut tells me that, for some people, these increases will be significant,” said Bill Hoagland, a former executive at Cigna and current senior vice president at the Bipartisan Policy Center.
Hoagland said Sebelius was seeking to “soften up the American public” to the likelihood that premiums will rise, despite promises to the contrary.Wonder how Obama will violate the law- again- to try to delay this till after the election?
Over in Californicated, the minorities are getting to war with each other. This should be interesting.
A civil-rights victory in Delaware.
The court applied the Delaware Constitution’s right to bear arms provision — “A person has the right to keep and bear arms for the defense of self, family, home and State, and for hunting and recreational use” — and the court noted that this language may justify broader protection than that given by the Second Amendment. Still, the precedent is likely to prove influential in other states as well, since the case deals with having guns for self-defense, which D.C. v. Heller has held is covered by the Second Amendment. (If the case had dealt with hunting and recreational use, for instance, the matter might well have been different.)
This has to be troubling to the tyrant wannabes in CT. And NY.

The Project: first try
Overall, very successful.
Only about 55 rounds through, 40 of handloads and 15 Federal 230-grain Hydra-Shock(yes, I've still got some). In the first two mags had a couple of failures to feed, but I'm calling it ammo-caused; take that round out the mag and the rest fed without fail. On the first, the slide felt like it was binding, but after ejecting that round and cycling the slide a couple of times, that went away, quite smooth after that. And the Federals fed, fired and ejected perfectly. Next time I'll take a box of factory ball and run it through; I'm expecting it'll perform as should.
Accuracy was very good(longest range tried ~15 yards).
The modified GI grip safety worked just fine: no pinching or biting. I'll clean it up nicely and keep it in.
I will pick up a extended thumb safety, or else find someone to do some welding and add a piece on and shape it; I'd forgotten how nice an extended is compared to the standard.
I'll detail strip it later and examine EVERYTHING again. I'll look the feed ramp over, if looks like it could use it I'll polish it a bit*, but unless I see something that really calls for it I'll leave it alone.
I can't speak highly enough of the Caspian frame. Everything appears to be exactly to spec, and the finish is excellent. There's one or two places that I'll dress down to match to the slide better, but that's not in any way a criticism of the frame; they're making it for people to build a pistol on, and not knowing what slide and so forth will be used, some fitting or matching is to be expected. And this is purely for aesthetics; the frame WORKS, and that's the important thing.
And now, it being late and I'm tired, I'll wish you all a good night.
*Stop screaming. I actually have a half-assed idea what I'm doing here, and I know the difference between 'polish' and 'reshape into uselessness'. And I'm not going to touch it until it's had at least another box of ammo through it; I doubt it'll need it.
If you're wondering why some people would be screaming, go over to The High Road and look at this sticky; yes, 'polishing' the ramp when you don't know what you're doing can ruin a frame. Especially aluminum: aluminum frames have a hard anodized finish. Polish that off the ramp, and you expose the soft aluminum, and it'll ding and wear FAST. As in "OhmyGodwhat'veIdone!" fast.

A: Farging idiots with ninja suits who really want to use them,
so buying hydroponic gardening equipment and TEA LEAVES in the trash is a good excuse.
B: When LE is this opposed to people being able to get these records ON THEIR OWN CASE, it's not for public safety or privacy, it's so they can hide what they're doing and why.
Over in CT, Dora Schriro is head of the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, which is the people sending letters 'Turn in or destroy your guns and magazines that make us wet our panties'. She insists "We're not confiscating guns!" Except
Confiscation does not depend on law enforcement or government officials going door to door to physically remove "forbidden" items. Governments have and continue to engage in confiscation by requiring citizens to turn in forbidden items or destroy them.
In the case of Connecticut, citizens have several choices at their disposal, all of which amount to confiscation -- that is, by law they are relieved and deprived of the right to possess "assault weapons" and magazines that can hold more than 10 bullets.
And guess what turns up in the past of Schriro?
Schriro has courted controversy in her prior jobs. Back in 2004, a federal judge in Missouri refused to admit sworn testimony from her, saying she and other correction officials can't be trusted to tell the truth because of previous misleading statements under oath in a lawsuit filed by an inmate, according to a report in the Riverfront Times of St. Louis.
The judge, Carol Jackson, said the defendants, including Schriro, had "demonstrated unreliability." "It is beyond dispute that defendants' affidavits contained false statements," she wrote.
Wonderful people in charge in CT, huh?
Yeah, tell politicians that you'll actually tell people back home how they voted, it changes things, do it not?

Governor Howler has a problem:
lots of people publicly saying "Screw you, Howler."
On March 16, SAFE Act protesters gathered in Saratoga, New York and burned "nearly a thousand gun registration forms."
Postar.com reports the forms "are used for people to register with New York State Police firearms that meet the state's definition of military-style assault weapons."
The Saratogian reports that "hundreds of gun rights advocates" turned out for the rally, which turned out to be "equal parts a rally against Gov. Andrew Cuomo and a teach-in on how to not comply with [the] SAFE Act assault weapons registration law." The latter consisted of showing gun owners how to make lawful cosmetic changes to their AR-15s in order to keep them legal.
The meet included this message:
We're basically explaining to people once they register, that gun is no longer theirs. It's a matter of time as to when the state will take it...It will be upon their death or when they change the law and decide to confiscate the guns that have been registered.
Especially considering Howler early-on stated that 'confiscation or forced sale are being considered'.
A serious failure in the victim-selection process:
Remember, while you're putting the whoopass on one, keep an eye out for any others.

The Project: here goes (updated)
Excess oil wiped off, here it is before grips
and after grips
Those are the Crimson Trace grips the Kimber had worn for years; they'll need to be zeroed for their new home. And it'll be two-tone for a while, maybe forever; this is a carry piece so a bit of wear(ok, a LOT of wear) on the upper isn't exactly a big deal.
Parts used from the Kimber:
Complete upper(including the fiber-optic sights I added)
Sear & disconnector
Hammer, pin & spur
Mainspring housing
Three-leaf spring
Trigger
Slide lock
Recoil spring guide rod and plug(forgot to add this earlier)
Other parts used in the new frame:
GI grip safety
GI thumb safety
GI magazine release
Plunger tube & innards
Ejector
All pins except the pin linking hammer & spur are new from the rebuild kit(stainless Officers)
New recoil spring
If possible I'll hit the range today(nice having a good indoor not too far away) and try it out. Very carefully.

The Project: ejector and plunger tube
They're installed.
As noted before for the ejector you make sure the legs aren't too long. Then mark the forward leg and cut a notch for the pin to go through(the book says file it just a touch high, so the pin forces the leg down for extra-tight fit). Degrease thoroughly, holes, pin and legs, then put together.
The plunger tube, well, the tool worked. And yes, I was sweating blood while I used it. No pictures of this, as just no way to do it by myself.
Then I fully assembled it and did every dry-fire test I know of, and all seems well. Stripped it back down and cleaned and lubed everything; grease in a few places, PDB's homebrew CLP everywhere else. It's going to sit till morning, then I'll wipe off the excess and fully assemble. Here's how it looks with the grip screw bushings on:
Ever do something like this again I'm going to know some better ways, now that I've done this one.

Remember that CT cop who 'couldn't wait to kick in doors
and take guns'? Well, turns out there's a worse part of that conversation:
A lot of news articles are putting my quote in of me saying he would put Jews in Ghettos as the reason he went off. He actually went off well before that. I literally asked him if a law was passed to put Jews in the Ghettos, would you? He literally said "Now you are being silly...but if its the law, I enforce it; I don't make them."
To me THAT was the quote of the story that everyone is missing.
Uh, yeah. To have a cop say "Well, if they DID make a law about rounding up Jews, I'd follow my orders" is revealing. Horrifying, too. Really does bring up images of "I was only following orders!" as a defense.
And it's getting about the reaction you'd expect:
According to Cinque, Officer Joseph Peterson, who made comments in interaction on Facebook while off duty that he would "give my left nut to bang down your door and come for your gun…" has been placed on 24-hour guard due to threats on his life. This information came directly from Police Chief Kevin Halloran.
Mr. Cinque told us that he had a two and a half hour "sit down" with the Branford Police Department on Tuesday. He said that the Branford PD was supposed to come out with an apology for Peterson's comments and wanted Cinque's endorsement of the apology in an attempt to cool things down.
Yeah, add it all up and it does NOT equal
Feinstein doesn't like it when she's subject to the same thing as the commoners, does she?
So the AUSA working with ATF may have lied to the judge to get that raid warrant; anybody surprised? At this point I'd be more surprised if the BATFEIEIO and the clowns working with them DIDN'T lie.
Connecticut takes the next step.
The state is sending letters telling people who didn’t register their now illegal guns to turn them in or destroy them.
