Just friggin' great; remember the 5th Gen fighter the PRC
Wrong.
So our JSF is behind schedule, WAY over budget, AND the geniuses decided we didn't need all those F22 aircraft because 'nobody will have anything nearly as good as these for decades!'...
My hand is messed up, so not much today
In a special meeting of the Security Cabinet it was disclosed that a group of 40 people on board the Mavi Marmara with no identification papers belong to Al Qaeda. The terrorists were equipped with bullet proof vests, night-vision goggles, and weapons.
Also,
In footage captured on the Mavi Marmara, activists are seen attacking the soldiers with a stun grenade, a box of plates, and water hoses as the soldiers attempt to board the ship. the activists are also waiving around metal rods and chains later used to attack the soldiers with.
I've heard the name Tavis Smiley, didn't know what a bigoted asshat he is.
Postal match!
Two Turkish activists were reported to be among those killed in the flotilla. Ankara warned that further supply vessels will be sent to Gaza, escorted by the Turkish Navy, a development with unpredictable consequences.
I’ll make a prediction:
Most likely, the Turks will soon be told or will otherwise figure out how stupid their idea of letting their navy get used by terrorists is and forget they ever mentioned it.
Otherwise, these two options are placed on the table.
1: The Israelis will let the ships through, and then search search them. When the weapons are found, Turkey will get all red-faced and “We didn’t know about those.” and stop letting terrorists use their navy as dupes.
2: The Israeli Navy will deftly cruise between the Turks and the pirate vessel and the first Turk ship to fire upon an Israeli ship will soon see the bottom of the Med. After that, is where it actually get unpredictable.
news math: (Nazi - competence) x (PR savvy + hipster wardrobe) = Palestinian peace activist
And now family things to deal with, see you later

Yeah, I'm sure this'll never be misused
And what will that 'specified period' be? And will it STAY at whatever they currently decide, or start creeping up(all for the public good, of course)?
For that matter, will it also track location? If they say no, how will we know that's true? We're supposed to trust these clowns?
Thanks to Insty for pointing to a marvelous example of the socialists Obama wants
The decision is not whether or not we will ration care—the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open. And right now, we are doing it blindly.
...
...any health care funding plan that is just, equitable, civilized and humane must, MUST redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and the less fortunate. Excellent health care is, by definition, redistributional."
...
I am romantic about the [British] National Health Service; I love it.
He particularly loves how the Brits purposefully under supply their patients' health care needs:
You cap your health care budget, and you make the political and economic choices you need to make to keep affordability within reach. You plan the supply; you aim a bit low; you prefer slightly too little of a technology or a service to too much; then you search for care bottlenecks and try to relieve them.
...Really? He loves it? Let's take a closer look at Great Britain and the results of their purposeful under supplying of their patients' needs.. Here's what I wrote in The Washington Times:
Britain's higher cancer mortality rate results in 25,000 more cancer deaths per year compared to a similar population size in the United States. But because the U.S. population is roughly five times larger than the United Kingdom's, that would translate into 125,000 unnecessary American cancer deaths every year. This is more than all the mothers and fathers, aunts and uncles, cousins and children in Topeka, Kan. And keep in mind, these numbers are for cancer alone. America also has better survival rates for other major killers, such as heart attacks and strokes.
And Berwick simply loves it. By “it” I presume he means the economic redistribution rather than the unnecessary deaths but that is not entirely clear.
A point on stopping the blockade runners
There's an old saying, 'Never do an enemy a small injury', and I think the Israelis are going to have to follow that advice. Remember the sign from a tea party "It doesn't matter what my sign says, you'll call us racists anyway"? Well, no matter what the Israelis do, the EU and UN and so forth are going to call them names and blame them for whatever the problem is.
The Isrealis know this, but they've tried to work within self-set boundaries anyway; they've put troops at greater risk to try to avoid civilian casualties(generally a good thing) but they've taken it to the extent of, in many cases, preventing the military from largely or fully accomplishing the job; which means they don't wipe out a nest of terrorists, they don't clean out an area, and they catch all the crap anyway. I think they're likely to stop this in the near future(I hope). Next blockade runners are likely to be hit by the same troops, but with more clear-cut "Stop the bastards, and don't get hurt trying to play nice anymore" orders.
Among the reasons politicians should never be trusted,
The system, which would place 220 cameras across the state to photograph the license plates of passing vehicles,is designed to catch insurance scofflaws, those without the mandatory vehicle insurance.
But privacy advocates and civil libertarians see a much more sinister use of the information that would be gathered by the cameras. They note the apparent ease of tracking the movements of motorists, and the ability of the state to harvest unrelated information about the vehicle owner and place it into a computer database. That fear appears to be reinforced by advocates of the "Automated License Plate Recognition" (ALPR) system.
Governor Henry proposed the system as part of an effort to raise new revenue. The push to put the system in place, and those involved, was not revealed in full until The McCarville Report Online published a series of stories about it. (Access those stories by clicking on the Highway Cameras label below.) Norman blogger Kaye Beach first reported on the plan; she and Oklahoma City blogger Andrew Griffin followed its development. Journal-Record columnist Scott Carter also called attention to the plan.
This started off not long ago, apparently there wasn't much knowledge of this outside of those setting it up until TMRO started talking about it.
Governor Henry's spokesperson said there hasn't been a final decision, but a legislative source close to the Department of Public Safety told FOX23, Governor Henry has already told the Department of Public Safety to move ahead with the installation of the cameras.
The idea is to check for uninsured motorists and make some money doing it. The proposal is to install 200 cameras on highways. The cameras read every license plate as you drive by, checking your license plate with an insurance database. But some worry it may find other personal information.
It's called automatic license plate recognition.
Now, there are a number of arguments to be made on this, but one thing that's caused a lot of problems with red-light cameras in many places is money:
The state wouldn't pay for the system; the company would be reimbursed from funds received from fines or administrative penalties.
Which opens up all kinds of possible problems. But one of the most basic problems is "If this is such a good idea, why wasn't it openly brought up and debated?
No attention was drawn to the $50 million-in-new-revenue plan until The McCarville Report Online began a series of articles about it last Friday.
No attention in a major way, that is. But months ago, Norman blogger Kaye Beach was asking pointed questions about the plan. She, along with fellow blogger Andrew Griffin, delivered a letter to Governor Henry's office asking that "sunlight" be allowed to shine on the plan. She never got a response.
In retrospect, Henry might today wish he had addressed the subject then because today, the lack of public discussion about the plan figures in the theory by some that Henry and others wanted the plan to "fly under the radar" and they hoped few outside state government would notice it.
Even some in state government didn't have a clue about the program until TMRO reported on it. Said one House member: "I had never heard of this until I saw your first story."
So we've got something real interesting going on, that- it appears- the Governor wanted to slide in with as little notice and attention as possible. Happily, some people are blowing that up.
Hadn't heard of the company before, but glad LOKI
LOKI Weapons Systems, Inc. will hold its ribbon cutting ceremony today at 11 a.m. at the old Wrangler plant in Coalgate. Local leaders, including Gumm and Rep. Paul Roan are expected to be in attendance.
Gumm and Roan, who represent Coal County in the Legislature, wrote legislation in 2004 to create the Oklahoma Firearms Manufacturer Recruitment effort. LOKI Weapons Systems, Inc. is one of the first companies to locate in Oklahoma based largely on that recruitment effort.
Among other things, another " 'Humanitarian' my ass"
Look, the proof of that is the fact that if you look at a map of Gaza, you’ll see that Israelis only control three sides of this rectangle. There’s a fourth side on the Egyptian side. So it is an Egyptian-Israeli blockade. The Egyptians have the same problem with Gaza. People accuse Israelis of having a blockade because they’re racist, they’re anti-Muslim, anti-Arab. The Egyptians are Muslim and Arab, and they’ve gone to war three times on behalf of the Palestinians.
So why do they have exactly the same blockade? Because Gaza is run by Hamas, a terror entity that wants to import weaponry and resume the war against Israel. The man who made the announcement that we saw earlier, explaining the commando raid, is the defense minister of Israel. He’s not right winger. He’s Ehud Barak, who’s the leader of Labor, the party of Yitzhak Rabin, Golda Meir, the party of the left, the man who 10 years ago this summer offered the Palestinians a peace agreement that would provide a Palestinian state, division of Jerusalem and an end of the conflict. The Palestinians said no, and Gaza two years ago declared war on Israel. That’s why you’ve got a blockade, and the flotilla was not about humanitarian needs. It was about smashing the blockade.
On the 'explanation' of what Sestak was offered,
In addition, a spokesman for Rep. Lamar Smith, ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, who on Friday asked FBI director Robert Mueller to investigate the Sestak matter, says:
“This is just another strike against the Administration’s story. Why bring in a big gun, like former President Clinton, to offer a meager job to Sestak that he wasn’t even eligible to accept? Either the administration is completely incompetent or there is a cover up. That’s why I’ve called for the FBI to get involved. We’re clearly not going to get a straight story from Sestak or the White House without an official investigation.”
(hey, how can you NOT read a blog called Snark and Boobs?)
Yeek! How'd you like to have THAT appear in the yard? Or under the house?
Andrew Sullivan demonstrates once again what a fool he's become. Possibly that should be 'tool', but whatever.

My my, the connections just keep coming, including to Obama's friends
...
Ayers, Dohrn and Evans’ Code Pink have led several recent Free Gaza Movement initiatives, including attempted marches into the Gaza Strip. Dorhn was in the Middle East just last month on behalf of the movement.
Hmmm, I wonder if these friends might have something to do with how Obama has treated Israel? And how he'll react to the current mess?
And
The so-called peaceful leftists and Pro-Gaza activists who attacked the Israeli soldiers today with pipes, metal rods and chairs belong to a terrorist-linked organization. The International Humanitarian Fund (IHH), which plays a central role in organizing the Gaza Flotilla, is a Turkish humanitarian relief fund with a radical Islamic anti-Western orientation. The president of IHH (Bulent Yildirim) recruited “Jihad warriors” and transferred firearms, and explosives to Al Qaeda and other Islamic terrorists organizations.
For some strange reason the state-run media forgot to mention this in their reports today?
...
A quick search of Internet reveals that Turkish based International Humanitarian Fund (IHH) is embedded with terrorists and their organizations. Like Hamas they provide humanitarian aid but their clients include Al Qaeda, Hamas, etc. Turkish security forces raided the Istanbul office of IHH. IHH activists were arrested, and Turkish security forces found explosives, manuals, and weapons. (For authoritative information on IHH click here.)
According to the French intelligence, the president of IHH (Bulent Yildirim) recruited “Jihad warriors” and transferred firearms, and explosives to Al Qaeda and other Islamic terrorists organizations. IHH has also been fingered for producing documents so Islamic terrorists can travel by air posing as relief workers. And IHH was involved with the terrorist who tried to smuggle 1320 pounds of explosives to be used to blow up Los Angeles International Airport.
Nice people Ayers and Dohrn like to work with, huh?
Grips, Part II: the .380
I think they came out rather well.
Ref the blockade runners the Israelis stopped
Israel Navy: “Mavi Marmara, you are approaching an area of hostilities which is under a naval blockade. The Gaza area coastal region and Gaza harbor are closed to all maritime traffic. The Israeli government supports delivery of humanitarian supplies to the civilian population in the Gaza Strip and invites you to enter the Ashdod port. Delivery of supplies in accordance with the authorities’ regulations will be through the formal land crossings and under your observation, after which you can return to your home ports on the vessels on which you have arrived.”
Response: “Negative, negative.”
The bastards WANTED to start a fight with the Israelis; they WANTED violence and trouble specifically so they could blame the Israelis for it.
The fact that these
On the illegal alien front, we have thosewonderful people
And, of course, they also seem to think they deserve to have other people pay their medical bills and give them food stamps and whatever else, too.
To the illegal alien lobby: screw you. You march with communists and anarchists and want to destroy this country. Screw you twice.
Saw the news on the Israelis stopping the 'aid' flotilla
...Israel, in an attempt to head off a confrontation, offered to let the Gaza flotilla unload its cargo at an Israeli port and have the goods delivered (after inspection) to Gaza by land. The flotilla folks weren't interested. Nor were they willing, despite their avowed love of universal human rights, to try pressuring Hamas to let them bring letters and food to the kidnapped Israeli soldier, Gilad Shalit.
If all they were actually interested in was getting the stuff there, they could have done this; but that wouldn't have pushed a fight. Wouldn't have gotten headlines. So they tried to shove through, knowing the Israelis wouldn't let them. So they wanted a fight, they wanted blood.
So many wonderful people in the 'peace' movement, aren't there?

Combine the peaceful, reasonable palistinian bastards with union thugs and what do you get?
Mallah recognized my husband, crossed the street, and verbally and physically assaulted him.
I want to know why the police didn't handcuff him and drag his ass to jail.
Of course, this is Canada. Which also has crap like this:
She was alarmed, therefore, when she saw a May 7 Globe and Mail article that described the Teehans’ plans [to make their home wheelchair accessible]. The article, prompted by Geoff Teehan’s blog, was accompanied by renderings of a blocky 2,250-square-foot contemporary home.
The article discussed Melissa Teehan’s condition [she is a quadroplegic]. Brown nonetheless contacted Councillor Sandra Bussin to register her disapproval.
“When you go up against something like that, it’s very awkward,” Brown says. “Of course it is. But I haven’t launched a campaign to fight this man and his wife. My heart goes out to them and their situation; I’m empathetic to the family. I just don’t think the two issues are the same issues. I’m not fighting to prevent her from something, even though they’ve been clear they’d like to build this house to help her with access because of her paralysis. I’m trying to preserve a home that adds character and beauty to my neighbourhood for future generations to enjoy. So: I don’t wish them any harm. I just want to protect that house.”
Translation: "Damn you, cripple, I don't want you to change that house! I don't care if you can't walk, no wheelchair ramp for you!"
Aren't caring progressives wonderful?
Why the National Socialist Democrats should, as a group,
The Senate measure, currently being debated on the floor, blends about $30 billion for President Barack Obama's 30,000-troop surge in Afghanistan...
That's in the 'Defense Appropriations' bill.
Which some member of the Stupid Party larded crap into, also.
We'd be better off if we either banished or hanged about 90% of the bastards in the House and Senate.
And since we can't afford to let the Sestak mess fall away,
And a timeline on this mess here.
Speaking of progressive morons,
"I thought when we elected a black president, we were going to get a black president. You know, this [BP oil spill] is where I want a real black president. I want him in a meeting with the BP CEOs, you know, where he lifts up his shirt where you can see the gun in his pants. That's -- (in black man voice) 'we've got a motherfu**ing problem here?' Shoot somebody in the foot."
Really. As I said about Stone, the fact that you want someone like that in the Oval Office tells me all I need to know.
Oliver Stone either just loves dictators,
American filmmaker Oliver Stone said Friday he deeply admires Hugo Chavez but suggested the Venezuelan president might consider talking a bit less on television.
Promoting his new documentary "South of the Border" in Caracas, Stone heaped praise on Chavez, saying he is leading a movement for "social transformation" in Latin American. The film features informal interviews by Stone with Chavez and six allied leftist presidents, from Bolivia's Evo Morales to Cuba's Raul Castro.
"I admire Hugo. I like him very much as a person. I can say one thing. ... He shouldn't be on television all the time," Stone said at a news conference. "As a director I say you don't want to be overpowering. And I think he is sometimes that way."
Which probably translates to "If you keep talking, you keep giving away what you actually are, and it causes problems."
"He's a soldier and he speaks from his heart," Stone said. "His vision is huge. ... And he will go down in history."
The Oscar-winning director hopes his documentary will help people better understand a leader who Stone said is wrongly ridiculed "as a strongman, as a buffoon, as a clown."
He's one more little commie tyrant, Stone, and the fact that you admire him so tells us all we need to know about you.
Ah, bleep. If this is true, things just turned even nastier
I am waiting for more information. I should have an update by morning.
...
Earlier this month on May 10, 2010, Stratfor reported on a chemical weapons attack on a girls school in Afghanistan.
Recently, 17 students at a Kabul, Afghanistan, girls high school fell ill and had to be hospitalized, along with several teachers. Doctors at the hospital agreed that it was some kind of poison, but have not been able to identify it yet. All the victims smelled something odd when they got to school, then fell ill, with some of the students losing consciousness. This is the second such incident at this school, and there was a similar attack at a girls high school further north. If they have actually begun using chemical weapons, we've got two problems:
How are the ROE going to deal with this, and
What will President Lightworker do?
We've got troops in friggin' Afghanistan being ordered to patrol with an empty chamber, and now this. If they spot bad guys setting up a rocket and wearing chemical suits will they be allowed to whack it, or will someone insist they wait for it to be launched and see what comes out of the warhead? Let's say they shoot some rockets full of nerve, blister or blood agent into a FOB or city; what will the President do?
This has the potential to get really bad really damn fast.
I got a comment on an old post about .22 rifles
As patchwork as city/county/state laws are in some places, can't really say much because I don't know what would be no problem and what might get you in trouble
If you're not sure about local laws on the subject, contact a local gun shop, they might be able to tell you of any prohibitions/restrictions. Or they might sell it for you on commission, or buy it outright. If your area has no prohibition on such, could take it to a gun show and see if someone's interested.
About all I can say.
Memorial Day
And them, too.
As the Allies fought a fierce rearguard action, some 800 small boats, including trawlers, lifeboats, paddle steamers, tugs, yachts and barges, many skippered by amateur sailors, responded to the appeal for help. As the Luftwaffe bombed and strafed the men on the beaches, they ferried troops over the shallow coastal waters to bigger ships or took them straight back to English ports.
I didn't really want to write about some of this stuff today,
There's an old expression that you can't get blood from a stone. The government cannot command the impossible -- whether from an evil corporation or from nature itself.
Charles Krauthammer sees Obama as King Canute attempting to command the impossible, while continuing to labor under the belief that a great speech can solve everything. But other than delivering another speech blaming the oil companies and Bush what can he do? Command the oil to stop gushing?
Krauthammer asks, "Why are we drilling in 5,000 feet of water in the first place?" and notes the major role of environmentalists in pushing these operations further and further out -- to places so precarious than when disasters occur (which they inevitably will), they're so much harder to fix. As to the federal government, it is clueless:
The federal government can fight wars, conduct a census, and hand out billions in earmarks, but it has not a clue how to cap a one-mile-deep out-of-control oil well.I'd say there's two separate things here: one is that, despite his "The Constitution doesn't give the government the powers I think it should" crap and his insistent demands that the gummint can take care of EVERYTHING, Obama can't fix this. Never could, any more than Bush could magically make all right after Katrina. It was the left that really began this "The PRESIDENT is responsible for it all!" crap, and this is the continuation: they can't insist Bush was negligent for not waving a magic wand and then excuse their "Thrill up my leg" Lightworker when he doesn't.In the end, speeches will make no difference. If BP can cap the well in time to prevent an absolute calamity in the Gulf, the president will escape politically. If it doesn't -- if the gusher isn't stopped before the relief wells are completed in August -- it will become Obama's Katrina.
That will be unfair, because Obama is no more responsible for the damage caused by this than Bush was for the damage caused by Katrina. But that's the nature of American politics and its presidential cult of personality: We expect our presidents to play Superman. Helplessness, however undeniable, is no defense.
Moreover, Obama has never been overly modest about his own powers. Two years ago next week, he declared that history will mark his ascent to the presidency as the moment when "our planet began to heal" and "the rise of the oceans began to slow."
Well, when you anoint yourself King Canute, you mustn't be surprised when your subjects expect you to command the tides.
The other is the flat-out arrogant lies: "We were on this from day one", etc. WE KNOW BETTER. EVERYONE knows better. And yet he stood there in front of all and lied. And he apparently expected the lies to simply be accepted because HE said them.
Put those two together, stir in the thin-skinned arrogance he's demonstrated time and again, and...
Well, this is interesting and just found it: do you have this restriction on your camera?
I can't remember who pointed to this article; lady wound up having to shoot a dog that attacked a girl. Pretty straightforward story, it's the comments that get interesting: lots of "She just HAD to play cowboy!" bullcrap.
Further reason why Chuck Schumer(NSD-NY-Asshole) ought to be tarred and feathered. Then flogged. Then hanged if there's any rope left over:
Under the DISCLOSE Act, certain incorporated entities would be restricted in how they can exercise their free speech rights. There is an exemption for some in the media sphere like newspapers, TV news, and the like. However, there is one driving force in today's public debate that is NOT exempt. Bloggers will not have the same exemption provided to other media sources. Never mind that the Supreme Court's opinion in the Citizens United case stated, "Differential treatment of media corporations and other corporations cannot be squared with the First Amendment."
For many bloggers to exercise their free speech rights, they would have to jump through the same onerous new hoops as many businesses, nonprofit groups, and even such threats to democracy as your local chamber of commerce. If this sounds like an absurd overreach by one party in power, I invite you to take a look at their government takeover of health care, taxpayer-funded bailouts, and general hostility to private sector economic growth.
This slimy little bastard has such a contempt for the concept of actual free speech, it's amazing. And he'll happily violate his oath of office to attack it.
Connected to this, a proposal to license 'official' journalists. Y'know, if some more of these 'journalists' were actual damned reporters, there'd be a lot less of this bullshit because the politicians would be more worried about their crap being reported on in the major media.
The level of idiocy that the War on Some Drugs has come to; read this to see another prosecutor and bunch of idiots who deserve their place at the tar wagon.
Yeah, a bunch of links to Classical Values; hadn't looked there in a while and he's been busy.
Israeli subs in the Persian Gulf, and the Med as I recall. From what I've read, these newer-generation diesel-electric boats are a bitch to try to locate, very quiet and efficient.
A fine demonstration by the Fruits of Calypso Louie.
And that's enough of that stuff for this day.
Oh, that smarts
So while I am not inclined to blame Barack Obama for the scandalous federal laxity in the now polluted Gulf, the media long ago taught me that I most certainly should.
I don’t play golf. Never have swung a club. But in the spirit of live and let live, I also never cared much for deconstructing the game in terms of culture and sociology. The media, however, in 2002, taught met that I should in the case of George Bush — that his swing and even his use of a golf cart reflected a certain class disdain for us, or at least a frat-boy frivolity at a time of two ongoing wars. So while I would like to give our present president a pass on his obsession with playing golf at a frequency far in excess to poor George Bush’s, I cannot. I am conditioned now to grasp that Obama’s golf craze is a sort of self-indulgence reflective of a disturbing narcissist who entertains a shocking indifference toward the rest of us.

'Dog and pony show'...
There are people out there who really aren't worth saving, aren't there?
And some of them are miserable, selfish, stinking offspring of distempered slugs and rabid whores; self-made ones.
Hey, Lympian, you suck. You're a sorry excuse for man and a worse excuse for an American. Fuck you.
Some thoughts on the O'Keefe matter
This is especially concerning in light of the recent publication of court documents in which the Government admits that a member of Landrieu’s staff had told O’Keefe’s companions, on tape, that there had been no problem with the phones:
One of Senator Landrieu’s staff members (WITNESS 1) told BASEL and FLANAGAN that she did not report any phone problems and that the office was not experiencing any issues with the phone system.
I’m interested in the First Amendment implications of a court ordering the destruction of a copyrighted work with possible political relevance — with no apparent statutory authority, plea agreement provision, or national security concern to justify it.
Yeah, that's a very interesting situation: the judge orders the destruction of private property, and the prosecutors do it. No questions. What about the ethical implications of the prosecutors carrying out that order, for that matter? And, speaking of the ethical implications of the actions of the prosecutors,
In addition to the lack of justification for destroying the footage, we have a positive reason that it should have been turned over long ago: namely, this was potentially exculpatory evidence in O’Keefe’s criminal case. The Government has now admitted, in court documents signed by the Government lawyer, that the evidence shows O’Keefe’s intent was “not to actually tamper with the phone system, or to commit any other felony” but rather “to orchestrate a conversation about phone calls to the Senator’s staff and capture the conversation on video.” This means that the tape recording made by O’Keefe, when viewed in the light of O’Keefe’s history as an undercover video journalist, did not support the Government’s original charge that O’Keefe entered with the intent to commit a felony.
It sure sounds like the tape was exculpatory evidence, which the Constitution requires prosecutors to turn over immediately. Instead, they held on to the tape, and agreed after about two months to reduce the charge to a misdemeanor, which is all they could ever prove anyway.
So, even if you pass over everything else, you have pretty serious prosecutorial misconduct in withholding evidence from the defense. THEN you add in the actions of the judge.
Crap like this is why a lot of bureaucrats and judges need a place in line for the tar, feathers and banishment treatment.

Be it noted that Chief of Police Beck of LA is- well,
Assuming the L.A. Times has accurately paraphrased Beck’s statement, we can reach either of two possible conclusions: that he is misinformed on the language of the new law, or he is deliberately distorting the truth to serve a political agenda. Neither choice is comforting.Beck said that his officers are guided by a different set of rules than the ones laid out in the Arizona law. For more than three decades the LAPD has followed a policy that prohibits officers from initiating contact with someone solely to determine whether he or she is in the country legally.
(isn't that a nice way to say Beck's either a fool or a liar?)
Like the LAPD policy in place since 1979, the Arizona law specifically prohibits officers from stopping anyone for the sole purpose of determining his immigration status. Arizona goes beyond the limits of the LAPD policy only in that it allows inquiry into an individual’s immigration status after a detention based on reasonable suspicion rather than an arrest based on probable cause. The reasonable suspicion must concern some crime other than illegal immigration. This important provision has been widely reported but just as widely ignored by those who seek to discredit the new law and forestall its enforcement.
Hit the range for a while today Pics added
Zeroed the 15-22 at 50 yards, which only required adjusting elevation, and then did some comparison groups; saved the targets, I'll post pics later.
Ok, it's later. The inside dotted ring on these targets is 1". Here's the Aguila:
Fed Auto Match:
Fed Champion:
Remington subsonic HP:
All these were fired with that 2x LER scope I pictured before. Having the very high rings made a world of difference in comfort and accuracy(easier to shoot well when you're not grinding your cheekbone into the stock). Something I do need to check on, there may be some parallax error in this scope. Thinking about it on the way home, I think some of the shots to the side may have been when my eye was a bit to the left of center. Next time I take this out I'll experiment and see if that's so. What I really need to do is get a 4x or higher scope for ammo testing.
Original post:
Short version: the Aguila SSS shot fine, gave groups better than some other ammo but not match-level; the Federal Champion cheap stuff gives accuracy as good as almost anything else; the Federal Auto Match looks very promising, wish I'd had more along(tried it after found a bag with about fifteen rounds in Stanley); Remington Subsonic hollowpoints gave 'eh' accuracy, and out of twenty rounds fired had two misfires(apparently Remington needs to work on their priming shop, both fired after rechambered). This 15-22 has proven pretty impressive; so far I cleaned & lubed it right after it came in and haven't done so since, and out of hundreds of rounds fired- high-velocity, standard and subsonic- it's fed and fired them all. I discount the misfires as ammo problem, and there's been twice a round- always the first- popped vertically out of the magazine, both times Federals and I think magazine, not rifle problem.
I'm not trying to be easy on this one, it's simply performing like the first one should have. Now if S&W would bother answering their damned mail, snail or e- variety...
Fired a couple of other .22 rifles, including the Martini, which I tried with the last few Auto Match rounds; very interesting- good- results, I need to take more of those next time.
On the handgun side fired the TT33 and had the only problem I've every had with it; twice the slide hung in the rear position and didn't chamber the next round. Once banged the butt and it closed, other time had to slingshot the slide. You know, if there were a simple way to change the grip angle to more like JMB intended(Tokarev, you bastard, why did you change it?) this would be a really good shooter. As is, in draw & shoot or point-shoot work I have to make myself tilt it up to line the sights properly.
That's it for now, pics to be added later.
Speaking of the DOJ, in this case something they SHOULD be investigating,
Joe Sestak explains that his brother (and senior adviser) is coordinating their job offer story with the White House, so its all good. A pre-Memorial Weekend file dump is predicted:
Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.) said Thursday his brother has spoken with White House officials about the congressman's allegation that he was offered an Obama administration job if he would stay out of a Democratic Senate primary.
...He told reporters Thursday that he would not expand upon his prior statements until the White House releases its report on the matter. President Obama said in his news conference such a report would come "shortly."
Sestak expects the White House script to be available Friday.

The White House asked former President Bill Clinton to talk to Rep. Joe Sestak about the possibility of obtaining a senior position in the Obama administration if he would drop out of the Democratic primary race against establishment-backed Sen. Arlen Specter, the Obama administration said in a report released Friday morning.
Oh, that was a big mistake.
So, I'm sure they cleared it with Clinton before they announced this(though it'd be funny as hell if they didn't); so what was the wording? "Bill, I need you to take this one for me" or "It's the only way to quiet this down to protect my presidency, Bill; you've got to do it!" or what? When told about the Clinton revelation, Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., who has been leading the charge for more details on the allegation, said, “This is punishable by prison. This is a felony.”
“This is about the White House. This is not about Congressman Sestak,” Issa said, adding that he wants to know what Clinton was empowered to say.
“They’ve answered a question and it begs many more answers,” he said. “We want elections not to be appointments.”
Good question: why DID the DOJ work so hard to avoid this getting notice? (Updated)
...
As I noted in a more detailed post below, the Government sought to bury this admission by omitting it from their press release, and attempting to avoid reading it aloud in court when setting forth the factual basis.
I have updated that post to note that I have now obtained the filed version of the document, with the signature of the Government’s representative.
Now I think it’s time to start asking the U.S. Attorney’s Office why they tried to hide this language from the public.
It’s also time to ask Big Media why they aren’t reporting on this.
Update:
"Ultimately, the government apparently could not prove its case, and yesterday gave O’Keefe a misdemeanor — presumably because they lacked proof of this felonious intent.
I have said from the beginning that viewing the tape would shed light on this. After all, O’Keefe was making an undercover tape. It has all the evidence on it. That tape would reveal whether O’Keefe is telling the truth.
And now the judge has ordered that potentially exculpatory evidence destroyed.
I contacted O’Keefe last night to ask when we could expect to see this tape. He told me that he wanted the tape back, but that the judge had said in open court that he wanted it destroyed, and instructed federal agents to destroy the evidence before returning the camera to O’Keefe.
I find this astounding — first, that O’Keefe got this far in the proceedings without the government disclosing the key evidence in the case to him and his attorney, and second, that the evidence will now be destroyed.
Why destroy it? To my knowledge, O’Keefe and his companions never accessed any part of the office that was not open to the public. They did not receive any sensitive information regarding Sen. Landrieu’s phone lines that would be useful to a terrorist.
And if O’Keefe is telling the truth, the tape would exonerate him in the public eye.
O’Keefe wants the tape back. The judge told the government not to let him have it.
What does that tell you?
We cannot forget just what kind of gun-grabbing socialist is in the White House
...
This is the REAL reason the UN want the Small Arms Treaty. You can’t control an armed population.
This U.N. treaty will lead to more gun control in America. “After the treaty is approved and it comes into force, you will find out that it has this implication or that implication and it requires the Congress to adopt some measure that restricts ownership of firearms,” former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John R. Bolton warns. “The [Obama] administration knows it cannot obtain this kind of legislation purely in a domestic context. … They will use an international agreement as an excuse to get domestically what they couldn’t otherwise.”
The U.N. Small Arms Treaty opens a back door for the Obama administration to force through gun control regulations. Threats to the Second Amendment are as real today as ever.
Gun control is about control, not guns.
Remember, all treaties have to be ratified by the Senate. Make sure your Senator knows that this treaty has no place in America.
Thanks to Uncle for pointing to this.Yell at your Senators. Now. Loudly.
Sure enough, like a lot of people predicted,
An initial research paper by the University College of London Institute for Risk and Disaster Reduction said: "Analysis of the seismic energy released around Katla over the last decade or so is interpreted as providing evidence of a rising ... intrusive magma body on the western flank of the volcano."
"Earlier seismic energy release at Katla is associated with the inflation of the volcano, which indicates it is close to failure, although this does not appear to be linked to seismicity around Eyjafjallajökull," it added.
"We conclude that given the high frequency of Katla activity, an eruption in the short term is a strong possibility," the report said. "It is likely to be preceded by new earthquake activity. Presently there is no unusual seismicity under Katla."
And since the eruptions at Katla have historically been bigger than those at Eyjafjallajökull, it will get really nasty if it does indeed erupt.
Icelandic President Ólafur GrÃmsson has warned governments around Europe that a significant eruption at the volcano is close. "We [Iceland] have prepared ... it is high time for European governments and airline authorities all over Europe and the world to start planning for the eventual Katla eruption," he said.
Uh, yeah.
First, I'm not real impressed with some police chiefs
At first glance this all seems like a perfectly normal news story, but there was a very important piece of information left out: the meeting was arraigned by the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) and the police chiefs attending the meeting were members of PERF. (Holder is an “old friend of PERF, he addressed their convention in April) . In the rare cases where a news organization mentioned the PERF connection (the NPR story referenced above is the only one I could find) they neglected to mention that PERF is an organization that objects to any enforcement of immigration laws directed at the illegal alien (as opposed to an employer who hires illegals). The Forum describes itself as a “national organization of progressive police executives.”
Damn ATF for a bunch of idiot bureaucrats that WANT to screw everybody over. Apparently just because they can, and maybe to curry favor with some politicians. AND they screw over agents who dare expose problems or wrongdoing. Wonderful bunch of people.
Enough. Stuff to do, I'll chew over all the other crap out there later.
A fine demonstration of idiocy in a politician,
"I think there's a comprehension gap," said Kerry. His point: While people may not be feeling the benefits of the bailouts and healthcare reform yet, Congress has been working with Obama to right the economic ship. Still, he sounded sympathetic to those kicked around by the economy. "There's a sense of some things unraveling" to them, said Kerry.
But he said that the D.C.-directed attacks are hypocritical, since many of those attacking Washington spending presumably want to keep their Social Security and Medicare and want Washington to play a big role in the Gulf Oil cleanup. "There's a huge contradiction on a daily basis," he said.
Maybe, he concluded, the Democrats should change their communications strategy "to better sell what we've done."
So. Every time we turn around we find another piece of crap hidden in Obamacare that means another 'X'-billion dollars and another power grab, the bailouts- well, you know. But we just don't comprehend how this is all actually wonderful...
And SS & Medicare? Those programs we've had money for taken out of every paycheck we've ever made? We're hypocrites for wanting that money back instead of it being wasted by assholes like Kerry? And expecting government to do the things it's actually supposed to do instead of wasting our money on bullcrap, that's hypocritical?
Kerry, you're an arrogant fool. And while the people in your home state deserve you for being stupid enough to elect you, the rest of us do not.

The news really began damaging my calm quite a while ago,
We've got Venezuela under Chavez all huggy-cozy with terrorists and supporters, and Obama ignores it.
The State Department currently designates four nations — Syria, Cuba, Sudan, and Iran — as state sponsors of terrorism. These countries provide ideological support and material assistance to terrorist groups. Once you consider the evidence behind Venezuela's substantial ties with U.S.-designated terrorist organizations and state sponsors of terrorism, we would like to know the strategic implications of designating Venezuela a state sponsor of terrorism. We would also like to know the implications for the integrity of this list if Venezuela continues to evade designation. . . .
Given that Chavez is expected to receive a $20 billion loan from the Chinese Government and his government has just signed yet another multi-billion dollar arms deal with Russia for weapons that far exceed any rational analysis of Venezuela's national defense requirements - it is clear that this is the time to revisit our policies within the region...
We've got Obama pushing for idiots like this to be on the federal appeals courts:
You've got to be pretty hard core to fight against the death penalty in the case of an eight-time serial strangler (seven time rapist, too).
Especially when the rapist-murderer himself doesn't want to fight his execution any further.
You've got to be really hardcore to bully the guy's lawyer into signing a motion for a stay of execution that the client didn't want but you wanted to sign.
Admitted. Guilty as sin.
So why this fight for a rapist-murderer's life?
Obama's nominee thought he was the "least culpable" of all death row inmates, because, he feels, a tendency towards sexual sadism as he had should be a mitigating factor, not merely against the death penalty, but conviction, too.
We've got more on who's involved in the denials of the Sestak claims:
My column today focuses on the White House lawyer behind the Sestak stonewall: Bob Bauer — a familiar figure if you’ve been reading this blog closely. He’s the hubby of former White House Fox-basher-in-chief Anita Dunn and a veteran Democrat legal fixer.
Unrelated to current problems but interesting,
A plan to attack Hitler's bunker in 1943 and a 1944 plot involving an assassin who had gained the trust of the Nazi leadership were both cancelled on Stalin's orders, General Anatoly Kulikov told a historical conference in Moscow on Tuesday.
"A plan to assassinate Hitler in his bunker was developed, but Stalin suddenly cancelled it in 1943 over fears that after Hitler's death his associates would conclude a separate peace treaty with Britain and the United States," Russia's RIA news agency quoted Gen Kulikov as saying.
I'll end this with some balancing good news: as Uncle likes to say, I guess he was compensating for something. I'd guess age and the fact that facing an armed intruder with empty hands generally doesn't work too well:
At about 5:20 a.m., the homeowner and his wife, also in her 80s, discovered the intruder entering their home through a back door. The homeowner, who had a gun, confronted and killed the burglar on the doorstep, police said. Cops said the intruder also fired his gun during the struggle.
"It's a good thing they had a gun, or they might be dead," said Curtis Thompson, who lives next door to the couple, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
So the imam who wants to build a mosque by the WTC site
But that was two months ago. More recently — in fact on May 26, one day after his Daily News column – Abdul Rauf appeared on the popular Islamic website Hadiyul-Islam with even more disturbing opinions. That’s the same website where, ironically enough, a fatwa was simultaneously being issued forbidding a Muslim to sell land to a Christian, because the Christian wanted to build a church on it.
In his interview on Hadiyul-Islam by Sa’da Abdul Maksoud, Abdul Rauf was asked his views on Shariah (Islamic religious law) and the Islamic state. He responded:
Yeah, he's a real religious freedom type, isn't he?Throughout my discussions with contemporary Muslim theologians, it is clear an Islamic state can be established in more then just a single form or mold. It can be established through a kingdom or a democracy. The important issue is to establish the general fundamentals of Shariah that are required to govern. It is known that there are sets of standards that are accepted by [Muslim] scholars to organize the relationships between government and the governed. [emphasis added]

Ok, so O'Keefe pleads to a misdemeanor
Attorney-client communications are among the most sacred in the American system of jurisprudence, so when James O’Keefe’s lawyers noticed at least two instances of privileged communication between them and their client appearing in the media, they wrote to Assistant U.S. Attorney Jan Mann in New Orleans: “O’Keefe materials improperly provided to media.”
The information that I have confirmed was disclosed to the media appears to be intentionally calculated to foment negative public opinion against Mr. O’Keefe, presumably in an unethical effort to prejudice any criminal proceedings… a clear violation of Chapters 1-7.500 and 1-7.600 (E) of the United States Attorneys’ Manual as well as a prosecutor’s ethical obligations…
When O’Keefe and three others were arrested in January, his computer and cell phone were seized, under the completely false premise that they were surveillance devices, and it appears that the documents came from them. If true, as O’Keefe’s lawyers note, this would constitute an outrageous violation of law-enforcement ethics as well as “severe prosecutorial misconduct.”
This has the potential for some real first-class trouble; even a lot of lawyers who may personally despise O'Keefe will throw fits over this; they know damn well that if they'll do it to him and his lawyers, they'll do it to anyone.
A quote for the day
It was like reading about old friends getting up in the world. These were people you could count on, unlike the supercilious sons of bitches in the Pentagon and State Department and elsewhere in this lousy town that had probably been a fine swamp before some fool decided to drain it.
Matt Helm
The Ambushers
Seems Obama either likes taking orders from Calderon,
US National Guard troops being sent to the Mexican border will be used to stem the flow of guns and drugs across the frontier and not to enforce US immigration laws, the State Department said Wednesday.
The clarification came after the Mexican government urged Washington not to use the additional troops to go after illegal immigrants.
President Barack Obama on Tuesday authorized the deployment of up to 1,200 additional troops to border areas but State Department spokesman Philip Crowley told reporters, “It’s not about immigration.”
He said the move was “fully consistent with our efforts to do our part to stem, you know, violence, to interdict the flow of dangerous people and dangerous goods — drugs, guns, people.”
Bad enough that this sorry excuse for a President does this, but the Guard troops will not be armed, either. Yeah, that's just fucking great: put them in hazard with no arms. Just the kind of thinking we've come to expect from these assholes. Just effing wonderful.
And now back to corrupt politicians, racists and union thugs
Corrupt politicians and racists, Holder's DOJ and the Black Panthers:
It’s about time the courts rule on the panoply of made-up defenses and fake privileges that Holder has cooked up to avoid turning over these documents. Let the courts decide if the Obama administration can have it both ways — declining to invoke executive privilege but relying on the privilege under other names (”deliberative privilege”).
A knowledgeable lawyer e-mails me: “Notice DOJ revealed nothing about the number of panther documents in the AG and deputy AG office. Even for the associate attorney general they revealed there were 135 but they weren’t going to turn them over. Failing to even name a number is extremely suspicious because those units can be searched quicker and easier for compliant documents. It leads one to conclude any number would be an embarrassment, and a high number would be a catastrophe. So, don’t reveal a number. Typical of this non-transparent operation.”
And now we’re going to see the administration’s true colors played out in open court. As a Judicial Watch spokesman said: “If there is nothing to hide, then Eric Holder should release this information as the law requires. And this is just one more example of how Obama’s promises of transparency are a big lie.”
Union thugs, and lawmen who don't do their jobs:
Presumably it was the assumption that Easton had a dog in the fight–not just the fact that protesters woke up her 2-year-old and terrified Baer’s son, who was home alone–that led Vandeventer to write, “a woman came storming across her lawn, screaming at us to shut up and go away – telling us we had no business being there”; and, “The really interesting question here is: why is Ms. Easton so angry? And why has she decided to use her position as a member of the media to air her own personal rant at the people who showed up to share their foreclosure stories?”
I have to note two comments on this story from the second link:
SEIU, try that crap on my front lawn. I live in Texas. You’ll meet my friend Mossberg. Threaten my child and Mossberg will say hello.
and
Exactly…I live near Fort Bragg, I’ll provide an H&K greeting. NC law actually allows you to shoot through your front door. Crazy, but awesome.
And yet more corrupt politicians:
There was a time when the White House and Rep. Joe Sestak were enemies. Now they're in the bunker together: Neither wants to talk about whether a White House official tried to get Sestak to drop his campaign for senator by offering him a job. With its reticence, the Obama White House raises some eerie (and, from its perspective, unwelcome) parallels with the Bush White House.
You have to work through the "Just like BUSH!" crap in this story, but at least they are noting the quite-possible illegalities involved in this mess.
And finally, more corrupt union bullcrap AND more corrupt politicians:
Gerald McEntee, AFSCME's president, candidly told The Hill that his union's big spending campaign will go to "protect incumbency in the House. We've got to protect the incumbency in the Senate." He admitted that "it's going to be hard, those tea-baggers are out there. There is an anti-incumbency mood out there." McEntee is just doing what Big Labor bosses have been doing for decades — spending their members' dues to elect and re-elect Democrats. Campaign finance data going back to 1989 reveal that six of the top 10 groups designated as "heavy hitters" by the Center for Responsive Politics are labor unions. AFSCME ranks second on the list, with SEIU 10th. More than 90 percent of their contributions went to Democrats.
And just what are these bastards spending union money to help push? Besides keeping a bunch of corrupt and arrogant National Socialist Democrats in power?
Schumer and Van Hollen's bill — the DISCLOSE Act of 2010 — would reverse the Supreme Court's recent Citizens United decision upholding the right of individual citizens, acting in concert with each other in corporations, labor unions, trade associations and independent citizens groups, to pay for TV ads critical of incumbent congressmen during the often-decisive final months of a campaign. As U.S. Chamber of Commerce head Thomas J. Donohue said, the bill "is an unconstitutional attempt to silence free speech. ... It's un-American and it must be stopped."
Generally speaking, if Schumer is involved, it needs to be stopped. Hard. And I've come to the conclusion that if most unions are involved, the same holds true.
Among the reasons it doesn't bother me that the New York Effing Times is going out of business
Yesterday, The New York Times published another front-page article based on a leaked classified document. This time, it was an order signed by Gen. David Petraeus authorizing black operations against adversaries and such dubious friends as Iran, Syria, Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
Gee, thanks. We really needed to know that. The world's a better place now.
I'll agree and disagree with this next bit:
Yet the Times' sin was the lesser one. The paper has long since given up any pretense of patriotism. (Ugh! Yuck!) Its editors are just publishing and perishing as citizens of the world.
It's whoever leaked the document that bears the burn-in-hell blame.
No argument that whoever leaked this- EVERYBODY involved in leaking this- ought to be suitably punished, and I'd strongly consider a noose to be suitable and appropriate. Thing is, I'm not willing to give the NYF'nTimes a break; they've repeatedly shown they're willing to see American troops killed and operations damaged or ruined for the sake of their own political agenda, and I'm long out of patience or tolerance with this shit. They know exactly what they're doing when they publish these things, and tar & feathers is the least the bastards deserve for doing so.
In another demonstration of weather in Oklahoma,
But I don't have to water the garden.
Looks like some members of the Stupid Party have discovered
Senators and other sources inside the meeting described the gathering as “testy” and “direct” — and Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) accused Obama of acting two-faced by asking for GOP support on regulatory reform only to push forward with a bill supported mainly by Democrats. Others felt that the meeting may have made already tense relations between the two parties even worse.
"The more he talked, the more he got upset," Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) said. “He needs to take a valium before he comes in and talks to Republicans and just calm down, and don’t take anything so seriously. If you disagree with someone, it doesn’t mean you’re attacking their motives — and he takes it that way and tends then to lecture and then gets upset.”
He doesn't seem to take it very well when "I won" doesn't end the argument. Or anybody stands up to him on any thing. Too bad, Obama, because they're supposed to oppose you when they think you're wrong and when the people who elected them say to. Deal with it.
And if anybody argues with a straight face that the press isn't in Obama's pocket, they're either a serious liar or a fool.
Pointing out once again that Calderon is a liar. And so are the NSD clowns who support him.
Figures can lie when used by politicians. Mr. Calderon repeated a several-year-old contention that something like 80 percent of the arms used by Mexican drug warriors have been traced to the United States. The claim was a lie when his government first asserted it, and repeating it before our Congress doesn’t make it true. This figure represents the percentage of those guns (a few thousand) submitted by Mexican authorities for tracing here. . .
[…]
In fact, Mexico’s cartels get their guns on the international market and most of what they buy aren’t the semiautomatic sporting arms they could get here, but fully automatic military weapons, grenades, rocket launchers and the like from China, Israel, Korea and Russia. According to the Los Angeles Times, most of this weaponry flows into Mexico over that nation’s southern border with Guatemala, not over her northern border with the U.S.
The great thing about gun control is you can never have too much of it. Chicago goes about as far as a city can go, but you can always blame it, in Daley’s case, on those intransigent downstaters and their insistence on not going farther. But the last thing Daley would want is for the state to actually pass something. At some point you run out of people to blame, just like in fiscal matters you eventually run out of other people’s money.
At some point the gig is going to be up. Pretty soon for Daley, Bloomberg, Nutter, Menino, and all the other big city mayors. Maybe they can switch to blaming the Supreme Court or the Constitution, but it doesn’t seem to me that’s quite the same tool they’ve been using. That’s probably why Daley is losing it. Heavens forbid he level with voters about having to make hard decisions to bring the city’s crime down.
Oh, about those troops Obama decided to send to the border?
Regarding the Administration’s decision to send 1,200 National Guard servicemen to the US Southern border, the Government of Mexico trusts that this decision will help to channel additional US resources to enhance efforts to prevent the illegal flows of weapons and bulk cash into Mexico, which provide organized crime with its firepower and its ability to corrupt.
Additionally, the Government of Mexico expects that National Guard personnel will strengthen US operations in the fight against transnational organized crime that operates on both sides of our common border and that it will not, in accordance to its legal obligations, conduct activities directly linked to the enforcement of immigration laws.
Translation: "Don't you dare stop any Mexicans illegally crossing the border! You're just supposed to stop stuff heading south!"
Response should be: "Fuck you, Calderon, you don't run this country."
And guess which prophet will be the ONLY one this would be enforced about?
Demanding a permanent ban on Facebook, over two dozen Pakistani religious groups working under the umbrella of the JuD have decided to contact the UN for enacting a global law “against blasphemy of prophets and awarding death penalty to violators.”
And somewhere, hiding out, is the magazine catch for the Sistema. And I can't reassemble it until I find it. I bleepin' HATE it when parts take a trip on their own.

Two more things, then I'm to bed: First, the Marriott seems to be feeling
Today, upper level Marriott executive Keith Thomas told GRNC board member Bill Krupicka that signs from the Charlotte property had already been removed, and that signs across the country will be removed promptly.
Please bear in mind that this victory is conditional: Marriott has not yet confirmed its policy, and a public apology to the gun owners staying in and traversing the Marriott across the weekend of the NRA convention has not yet been issued. Accordingly, please do not relax pressure against Marriott International yet. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
When they make it official, AND apologize for the trouble caused, I'll believe it.
And here's their suggestions for contacts:
IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED
* Keith Thomas: Reports directly to JW Marriott, Jr. himself. Thomas can be reached at Mr. Marriott’s office at either keith.thomas@marriott.com or 800-621-0999.
* Kathleen Matthews, Executive Vice President, Global Communications and Public Affairs: Kathleen.Matthews@marriott.com, 301-380-7770. Also include her assistant, Marilyn Cole at: marilyn.cole@marriott.com or 301-380-7525.
* Chad Callaghan, Vice President of Loss Prevention: chad.callaghan@marriott.com. Also call his assistant Pat Murphy at 301-380-7814 and presuming he ignores your call, feel free to page him at: 800-313-9391.
* Jim Diehl: Don’t forget the General Manager (and reportedly regional executive) who started this mess:, jim.diehl@marriott.com, phone: 704-333-9000, fax (directly to his office): 704-358-6522.
Who, as I recall from the posts, put the signs up AFTER the event started and then lied about matters when called on it.
Second, a NYEffingC politician once again proves that having no damned idea what you're talking about is no barrier to either being a idiot politician or pushing laws based on your ignorance. Or stupidity. Or both.
A big part of why I was busy today: project gun update
Before:
At this point I've done the following:
Clean up the surface(wet/dry paper with a hard backing),
Ground the arched mainspring housing down and stippled it,
Fiber-optic front sight and a taller rear sight to match up to it,
Extended thumb safety,
Beavertail grip safety(fitting that was fun),
New hammer & barrel,
Long trigger,
and now parking it. Pretty much done.
I have to say, Texas DOES do some things right
Yes, Gentle Readers, if you go through the training, and the background check, and the fingerprinting -- as well as coughing up the dosh -- and you decide to visit your Capitol building in Austin (with your handgun and license in paw) you have an express lane through Security.
If that doesn't warm the fuzzy little cockroaches of your heart, I don't know what will.
I give up; I have to post on another idiot politician and a media weenie
Respected State-run media journalist Sam Donaldson is now comparing Arizona to the Tiananmen Square Massacre.
Jake Tapper takes him to task.
This is what passes as a 'respected journalist': Arizona decides to enforce the law against illegal aliens and this fucking sorry excuse for a reporter compares it to the PRC committing mass murder. Words fail me.
Second, the idiot Biden:
“As you probably know, some American politicians and American journalists refer to Washington, DC as the “capital of the free world.” But it seems to me that this great city, which boasts 1,000 years of history and which serves as the capital of Belgium, the home of the European Union, and the headquarters for NATO, this city has its own legitimate claim to that title.”
Ladies and gentlemen, our Veep. God help us.
And, by the way, about that sorry bastard Donaldson,
Well, you can forget about updating that story any time soon because USDA is no longer updating the database. Seems that the Democratic Congress in 2008 changed the law that previously required the department to maintain the database to say that doing so was merely optional.
The federal farm bureaucrats naturally opted out of disclosing how much they were paying people like former ABC News White House correspondent Sam Donaldson and multi-millionaire David Rockefeller not to grow crops. No doubt the decision was made to "save tax dollars."
Yes, the integrity of the major media; a fine thing, isn't it?
