More on the killing- and possible murder- of Erik Scott
over at Confederate Yankee. He puts it a LOT more properly than I could, but it pretty much boils down the same: Costco and LVPD at best look bad; at worst, criminal to my thinking.

It was not enough, however, simply to find some metal and get a blacksmith to bash it into shape.
Pratchett, believing the sword would not truly be his own unless it was made from metal he had produced, found a field with deposits of iron ore near his home in Wiltshire, west of London.
He gathered the deposits and smelted the iron ore himself.
Yeah. He got ore, got some help and smelted it into iron, refined it, went to a blacksmith for help and forged it into his sword. Freakin' marvelous.

I'm going to start this morning with the recent shooting
of an armed dumbass in LA. Dumbass was drunk, threatened people with a knife, and when a cop told him repeatedly to drop the knife he advanced on the officer who demonstrated good judgment and marksmanship and killed him.
Dumbass was an illegal alien.
Therefore the illegal aliens and the anti-cop clowns immediately had fits and rioted, all the usual.

One of the things I've had pointed out to me over the years is just how nasty a weapon a knife is. And that 'close' can start at a good twenty feet(further with a big knife/big man/fast man). Can't remember the exact words, but one of the cops teaching my CCW class said "If you pull a knife on me and you're inside twenty feet, I'm going to shoot you twice in the chest and once in the head, just like I was trained to" while going through the "This is a lethal threat, this is not" stuff. None of which matters, of course; the clowns rioting wouldn't care if the bastard had cut or stabbed half-a-dozen people, they'd still accuse the cops of murder and riot and burn because
They hate all authority, especially of American officials, and
They want control. Of the whole place.
So screw the rioters, and screw the "They didn't have to shoot him" people.
I had the opportunity to have a discussion with a few of the more rational and sober members of the crowd, all of whom asked me why the officer had to shoot Jamines rather than use some lesser level of force. Like many police officers, I carry a folding knife similar to the one Jamines was said to be wielding when he was shot. I showed it to my interlocutors, holding the serrated blade close to their faces. “Do you think I could hurt you with this?” I asked, watching their eyes widen at the readily apparent lethality of the blade. “And do you think you could stop me from hurting you without shooting me?” None of them had a ready answer.
And no one else does, either. Because if you come at a cop with a knife, you’d better plan on getting shot.

The Inter-Press Sevice (IPS) is reporting that the head administrator of the Mexican Superintendency of Tax Administration, Raul Diaz, has confirmed that his government is building a wall in the state of Chiapas, along the Mexican/Guatemalan border.
The official reason is to stop contraband from coming into Mexico, but as Diaz admitted: “It could also prevent the free passage of illegal immigrants.”
According to Mexico's National Commission on Human Rights, 500,000 people from Central America cross into Mexico illegally every year.

Let's see... as I recall, when the massacre in Rwanda was first srarting

reminded me I hadn't detail-stripped my carry piece in a fair while. Most of the stuff I shoot, unless it ate corrosive-primed ammo that day, normally gets a couple of Eezox or Strike Hold-soaked patches through the chamber and bore, the bolt face and any parts handled by sweaty hands wiped down, then a couple of dry patches through the bore; but the carry pistol gets a fairly thorough cleaning, bore and rails and so forth, every time. Probably not needed, but it makes me feel better.
Well, a little bit ago I took the pistol down to parts. There was a bit of fouling buildup on the disconnector and sear, but the spot that was really bad was a lot of gunk built up on the thumb-safety plunger and the underside of the tube, I'd guess from being right against me all the time. So that's been scrubbed and is sitting for the Eezox to dry.
The only bad part about this? Since have to take the Crimson Trace grips off to remove the sear/disconnector pin, I'll have to make sure they're still zeroed next time I shoot. The way they lock on there's not really any way for them to get out of line, but I'll feel better if I specifically check it.

And they get one thing right, but I think miss a point: Obama has indeed underestimated the frustration, but I think he also did not count on people actually opposing his agenda strongly; a few people, sure, but the numbers out there saying "Hell NO!"? Don't think he counted on that.

Two last things tonight, the first on the Evil Party
...I will counter with a less-sexy story about how, in the city where I choose to live, where I pay hefty local taxes, where I have sincere hopes about placing my daughter in a public school system (as Adrian Fenty and Michelle Rhee do, but Barack Obama does not), where I have witnessed stunning changes for the better in just two years of interacting with the local elementary school, one of the country's foulest and most powerful special interests, the overwhelmingly Democratic Party-financing American Federation of Teachers, just spent $1 million large to make sure that the last glimmer of reform for this famously bottom-of-the-barrel school district gets snuffed out, in a wave of anti-Stuff White People Like spite.
This is your mainstream Democratic Party, people. It knows how to speak in complete sentences, it knows how to masturbate, and it knows how to destroy expensive education systems. I hope you fucking enjoy it.
The second on the Stupid Party:
That was then. This is apparently now: “With their eyes on a House majority, Republicans are leaving the door open to allowing earmarks after a one-year party-imposed moratorium,” reported Politico on Friday. Republican leaders such as House Minority Leader John Boehner and Whip Eric Cantor are suddenly hedging on the issue. Perhaps we need to remind the would-be House leadership why they should continue to steer clear of earmarks.
How about this, Boehner: you clowns played games with the Evil Party for years to prop each other up, to keep the game going, and it got you kicked out of power; now you think we're going to forget it all in a year? Do you want to ENSURE a third party made up largely of people sick of this kind of crap?
Oh, you Democrats? Don't get happy about it; as Insty says, you're not too damned popular a party either; the bulk of the other members of that third party will be Democrats sick of what you bastards did to the party of their family.
