the UN commander on the ground at the time told the UN it was starting and said "Give me 'X' troops and permission to act and I can stop it", the UN informed him he had NO authority to act and yanked out most of the troops he did have.
Anybody surprised the UN is still working at its sterling best?

I almost bought the book by the Canadian guy in charge of that force.
raging doesn't even come close to describing his anger.
The belgian troops all publicly shredded their blue berets when they got home. Would have been better if they'd never put them on to start with.
