Saturday has arrived, so,

after a long day at work, I'm going to relax now that I've  got the data for you

Scene from the range

Know those magnetic mounts to hold a pistol under the dash as you drive?  After all the videos of mostly-peaceful protesters breaking windows and dragging people out, a lot of people are looking for those.

Why, it's like lots of people don't want to be the next Reginald Denny.

Holy shit...

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents tasked by fired former Director James Comey to take down Donald Trump during and after the 2016 election were so concerned about the agency’s potentially illegal behavior that they purchased liability insurance to protect themselves less than two weeks before Trump was inaugurated president, previously hidden FBI text messages show.

“[W]e all went and purchased professional liability insurance,” one agent texted on Jan. 10, 2017, the same day CNN leaked details that then-President-elect Trump had been briefed by Comey about the bogus Christopher Steele dossier. That briefing of Trump was used as a pretext to legitimize the debunked dossier, which was funded by the Democratic National Committee and the Clinton campaign and compiled by a foreign intelligence officer who was working for a sanctioned Russian oligarch.

“Holy crap,” an agent responded. “All the analysts too?”

“Yep,” the first agent said. “All the folks at the Agency as well.”

“[C]an I ask who are the most likely litigators?” an agent responded. “[A]s far as potentially suing y’all[?]”

“[H]aha, who knows….I think [t]he concern when we got it was that there was a big leak at DOJ and the NYT among others was going to do a piece,” the first agent said.

The supposed anti-racists:

Just wonderful people, aren't they?

As a general rule I've tended to sympathize with cops ,

And the 'child services worker' needs a public flogging.

This. Is. CNN.(again)

Call a black AG racist names.  Double down on it.  Then call people who object 'bully bigots'.
These people are just fucking wonderful, aren't they?

"...these collectivist pukes are more race-obsessed than the Nazi Gauleiter of 1930's Lower Swabia"

That's a quote from the Dutchman that fits with far too many leftists.  Which the NYeffing Times is very much.  This is some of their latest bullshit:The term “people of color” is already ambiguous enough with white professors, grad students, and NAACP presidents claiming to be black. But the New York Times’ racial list, a thing reeking of Nuremberg and Goebbels, put the paper in charge of deciding who is a person of color by marking them with yellow. It’s a good thing no notorious racist ideology had the same idea.

(The Times had previously published a list of members of Congress who had voted against aiding Iran’s nuclear ambitions and terrorist regime by marking Jewish members in yellow.)

Like all racist Rohrsarch charts, the Times’ racial list says more about it than about America.

The Times claimed that only 112 of the 431 House of Representatives members are people of color. It lists Rep. Rashida Tlaib as a person of color, while listing Rep. Justin Amash as white.

Tlaib's parents and Amash's father came from Arab towns and neighborhoods in Israel. Amash's mother came from Syria. They both have traditional Arab names.

How is Tlaib a person of color while Amash is white?
...
As Twitter observers of the New York Times racial list noted, the paper of racial record appears to invariably list Arab Christians as white, while Muslims are described as people of color.

Make your own snap caps

This idea is courtesy of the Great and Knowledgeable Og, in a post he did a few years ago, and which I cannot find; I do locate it, I'll post a link.

Simple process: take a cartridge case, and a nylon screw.  Drill the primer pocket to suitable size for the screw and thread it(I've been using #10).  Run the screw in from the front, and you're done.

It works well, and when the screw is getting battered you can just screw it in further and trim off the beaten-up face.

One of the most stupid things I've read in a long time

Considering the year, that's saying something.  Why White People Owning Dogs is Racist...

These two sentences cover the whole piece of shit if you don't want to endanger brain cells reading the whole thing:
Shortly after the Eurasian people worked so hard to train and bond with wolves, most of them were shipped off and given to Europeans.

These filthy white savages took the work and credit from the Eurasian people and branded these magnificent creatures as their own.
Isn't that just so special?

The author of this drivel 'spends his time creating and disseminating educational materials for local schools that help kids understand why protecting animals and LGBTQIA+ rights is so important', so he's an all-round abuser of fact and children.  Because teaching kids bullshit like this IS abuse.  Which does bring up what kid of idiot teacher lets an asshat like this through the door?

Still clearing old ordnanace in a lot of places

Two bomb disposal experts from Britain and Australia died in the Solomon Islands when World War II ordnance they were helping to clear exploded, officials said Monday.
Some of that crap stays dangerous for a looong time.

I can't mow

because the dew was so heavy it might as well have rained, I'm not lifting anything heavy because the back has been having some difficulty, and it was a long past few days; I think I'm going to take it easy today.

On the ammo and components situation at the place I work: for about three weeks had no small pistol or rifle primers except Remington 6 1/2 rifle, and those were bought up in the end by people planning on using them for pistol.  Some Remington Large Rifle, which for some reason people didn't seem to want(no experience with them so can't comment), still some large rifle magnum as of yesterday.

No 9mm, .38, or .40 bullets, still have .45 and .44.  Range brass is selling about as fast as it's processed and bagged.  Rifle bullets other than .223 a fair amount, and a few 100-round boxes of 50 & 53-grain .223, most people wanting bulk in that(surprised those boxes were left).

Powder is getting short, with most of the 'use for 9mm/.40/.45' being out right now.

Did a bit of looking around, a lot of bullets and powders are still available but you'd have to order, primers are short everywhere.  Guy who came in a week or so ago mentioned he'd bought a thousand small rifle at a gun show for $125, because he had none and couldn't find any anywhere.

I think we're out of almost every kind/brand of loading press, too.

Firearms... longer-barrel shotguns and bolt rifles for hunting are in pretty good supply, but AR patterns, AKs, shorter shotguns, are in very short supply.  Handguns selling just as fast, especially those suitable for concealed carry/self-defense.  LOTS of first-time buyers, and the 'learn to shoot' and CCW classes are full for at least the next month, some longer.

I hope the "We want to ban everything" clowns are paying attention, because all these people are not buying things just to turn them in to some .gov office.

I don't know about the rhyming, but history

but it does seem to repeat.
How did educated, liberal society respond to such terrorism? What was the position of the Constitutional Democratic (Kadet) Party and its deputies in the Duma (the parliament set up in 1905)? Though Kadets advocated democratic, constitutional procedures, and did not themselves engage in terrorism, they aided the terrorists in any way they could. Kadets collected money for terrorists, turned their homes into safe houses, and called for total amnesty for arrested terrorists who pledged to continue the mayhem. Kadet Party central committee member N. N. Shchepkin declared that the party did not regard terrorists as criminals at all, but as saints and martyrs. The official Kadet paper, Herald of the Party of People’s Freedom, never published an article condemning political assassination. The party leader, Paul Milyukov, declared that “all means are now legitimate . . . and all means should be tried.” When asked to condemn terrorism, another liberal leader in the Duma, Ivan Petrunkevich, famously replied: “Condemn terror? That would be the moral death of the party!”

It's Friday night,

and a bit cooler than I'd like, but still pretty nice.  So go over the data when you're done enjoying the weather.

Unless you're in Californicated.  Then you probably need the distraction.

USPS 'tracking'

"It only took three days for the item to reach the origin facility, and it's on time!"

Oh yeah, mail-in voting will be GREAT...

This. Is. CNN.

A CNN journalist deleted his tweet and issued an apology after being called out for spreading coronavirus misinformation by critics including former New York Times reporter Alex Berenson.

That's the start, I'm just going to quote a couple of the responses he got:
Berenson slammed Feldscher for sharing such alarming numbers.

"Fact check: you can’t be this dumb," Berenson reacted. "Even if the herd immunity estimate of 60% is right (it’s wrong), this CNN doesn’t know the difference between reported cases and actual infections, which are 10x as high. So his estimate is off by a factor of at least 10x (likely much more)."
...
Berenson commended Feldscher to taking ownership of his tweet but slammed his news organization for allowing "nonstop panic porn" throughout the pandemic.

"I'm glad he deleted the tweet. If only CNN could go back and delete the last six months of nonstop panic porn... But it's a start," Berenson told Fox News.

Yeah, but panic porn is their big thing, they actually try to stop they'll probably go into withdrawal.

About that range day,

One of the things shot was the .40-65 that has been mentioned before.  We'd worked up a load of a 400-grain bullet, .060 wad, and 57 grains of 2f Goex black powder fired by a Federal Large Rifle Magnum primer.  Generally shot pretty good.

Then, just as a 'give it a try', loaded some with 58.0 grains in Winchester cases.  And damn.

Eight rounds.  five damn near making one big hole, one about an inch outside, and two I have to blame on myself(last shooting before leaving, getting tired at that point) at 200 yards.  This is definitely going to be tried again.  Very carefully.

Had also loaded six with Starline brass,

Possible that the spread was my fault, especially with three almost in one hole, so it's on the list also.

And next time these'll be shot earlier when I'm not getting worn and a touch shoulder-sensitive

Be it noted- again- that the new Blogger sucks,

and the morons involved should be clubbed like a baby seal

Meanwhile, in multi-culti Sweden,

  • "The police must ensure that the criminals are arrested and can be prosecuted. The criminals need to disappear from our streets and squares so that no more ruthless crimes are committed... We work intensively, around the clock, despite this, the severe violence continues." — Sweden's National Police Chief Anders Thornberg, August 29, 2020.
  • Gothenburg's Ali Khan clan has been reported to the police more than 200 times but the police had to close almost all cases because the gang threatens the victims and witnesses to stay silent.
  • So how many other cities/counties/states are lying about the numbers?

    From Fox17:

The coronavirus cases on lower Broadway may have been so low that the mayor’s office and the Metro Health Department decided to keep it secret.

Emails between the mayor’s senior advisor and the health department reveal only a partial picture. But what they reveal is disturbing.

The discussion involves the low number of coronavirus cases emerging from bars and restaurants and how to handle that.

And most disturbingly, how to keep it from the public.

Hey, how can you convince people you're saving them(while destroying businesses and lives) if they know the truth?

    Tuesday, September 15, 2020

    Range day was had,

and it was good.  Cool then warming a bit, mostly overcast, almost no wind, almost perfect for trying out some loads.

.45-70, for the rifle in question, using black powder and the old Lyman 500-grain round nose bullet is a fairly hard to beat combination.  I'm wondering if tweaking the OAL might tighten groups a touch, will have to try that.  Interestingly, the Lyman 525-grain Postell shoots best from that rifle with A5744 smokeless(at least so far, there could be some black/OAL/primer combination that would equal or better it).

.300 Blackout, that Hornady 190-grain Sub-X bullet over H4198 stays subsonic and gives good accuracy, and out of friend's Hybrid can it's amazingly quiet.

Guy I know bought a grail gun a few months ago, a double rifle in .450 Black Powder Express, and sent some pictures of finally getting to shoot it.  He's happy.  Now I've got to figure a way to try it out myself.

I need to transcribe some notes before I lose them, and get some cleaning done.

    Monday, September 14, 2020

It seems CNN is promoting the idiot who lost most of his bicep in Kenosha

as the 'sole survivor of the shooting'.  And there is great whining about the pain, and stress, and so forth.

You are part of a group pursuing and attacking someone.

You and two others get shot.

Deal with it, you miserable socialist asshole.  You were part of the riot, you were armed and attacking, so my sympathies for you are non-existent.

    Scene from the range

No specifics, but I'll tell you something:
Talking to someone who's never or only once before fired a gun, helping them calm and get more comfortable with it, and then watching them put a very nice group on paper... that's rewarding.  Very.

Someone in Poland decided to step up that remembrance of the past
