To anyone with a modicum of interest in this country’s past, such ignorance is deeply depressing, to say the least. But I suppose it could be worse. Think what would happen if some Mail Online know-nothing hack was able to interview other historical figures . . .
‘Sir Winston Churchill, tell us how you came up with the idea of a nodding bulldog to promote your insurance company.’
‘Napoleon, having invented a popular type of brandy, was it perhaps rather egotistical to name it after yourself?’
‘Pablo Picasso, as a car designer you must be thrilled to see your Citroën Grand C4 Picasso being crowned “Best Used MPV” in the Auto Express Used Car Awards 2023.’
‘Emperor Hadrian, I hear you’ve ordered two and a half million tons of bricks and thousands of tons of lime mortar. That’ll be one heck of a villa you’re building up north.’

Apparently the science of forensics doesn't exist, because "I have a PhD, and
I say so!"
“So if you were to dig up a human, two humans, in 100 years from now, both man and woman, could you tell the difference, strictly off of bones?” Gaines questioned.
The anthropologist said, “No,” as those in attendance burst into laughter.
“I’m not sure why I’m being laughed at if I’m the expert in the room,” the anthropologist said. ...
As Gaines began to explain that she had “put a lot of research into this,” the anthropologist cut her off to say: “I have a Ph.D.”

I have been reminded of just what asshats fanbois can be
Thread started the other day by a guy asking about Pedersoli Sharps rifles. He wanted to get a Sharps to try out; not knowing if it would be something he'd really like, he wanted to avoid spending too much money and time* getting one.
Cue the Shiloh and, to a lesser extent, C. Sharps fanbois. Take anything ever found to have been a problem on any Pedersoli, and all their Sharps have that: "They're trash, don't waste your money, only cry once buying a Shiloh", etc.
Seems they'd rather someone either get their icon, or never shoot one. Great attitude.
*Depending on some factors, the wait for a Shiloh can be months to a year for a basic from what I've read.

USPS 'tracking'
"It only took three days for the item to reach the origin facility, and it's on time!"
Oh yeah, mail-in voting will be GREAT...

'STEM students create dumbest smart gun ever'
Boy, did they.
This part alone demonstrates the perils of someone who has no real idea of the use of a tool trying to redesign said tool:
...It’s also equipped with a GPS and geo-fencing technology, so it can’t be fired in public places, like schools or churches. They say the technology would be built into new guns and a version would be made to be retrofitted onto existing guns.
“You still are allowed to do one bullet every 20 seconds so you still are allowed to use self-defense so it’s still going to work,” said Shahid.
Because A: Nobody ever needed to defend himself/others in a public place, and B: bad guys always fall down at one shot. And nobody ever misses.
I'll bet Watts & Co. are kissing their ass and saying "This Will End Mass Shootings!"
Kids, your hearts may be in the right place, but you really need to find out what the hell you're talking about before you try to tell people 'This is the fix!'
