As has been noted, we're only on top of the pyramid
because we make tools and worked to get there.
And if cougar had the same attitude as leopard toward eating people, wonder how many "They were here first, leave them alone!" there'd be?

This is unpossible, Australia has the GOOD gun laws!
Unveiling a new plan to tackle out-of-control gun violence in Sydney on
Wednesday, NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione said all three
strike forces had been brought together to form Operation Talon.
"There is no single source of gun crime violence...guns have fallen into the hands of organised crime, outlaw motorcycle gangs, mid-level crime groups and petty thieves and the lines are often blurred," Mr Scipione said.
"There is no single source of gun crime violence...guns have fallen into the hands of organised crime, outlaw motorcycle gangs, mid-level crime groups and petty thieves and the lines are often blurred," Mr Scipione said.
"But if we don't have a SWAT team, or at least a bunch of armed agents,
we won't be some of the cool people!"
Special agents at the IRS equipped with AR-15 military-style rifles? Health and Human Services “Special Office of Inspector General Agents” being trained by the Army’s Special Forces contractors? The Department of Veterans Affairs arming 3,700 employees?
The number of non-Defense Department federal officers authorized to make arrests and carry firearms (200,000) now exceeds the number of U.S. Marines (182,000). In its escalating arms and ammo stockpiling, this federal arms race is unlike anything in history. Over the last 20 years, the number of these federal officers with arrest-and-firearm authority has nearly tripled to over 200,000 today, from 74,500 in 1996.
What exactly is the Obama administration up to?
Hey, us peasants can't be properly controlled by agents with stern expressions, y'know.
This has been turning up. I'd say the message is getting through.
Which has got to be causing serious chafing among the hoplophobes and gun bigots.
One more reason to get rid of the EPA: "Obey the court's order? That's for peasants, WE are the EPA."
If you'll excuse me for a while, I'm going to try to get some mowing and such done before the heat index hits the "Why am I melting into my shoes?" point.

A bit of why every politician pushing the no-fly list as a way to take rights away
should be horsewhipped in the town square.
Rahinah Ibrahim, a Malaysian architect with a doctorate from Stanford, knows from personal experience that they have a compelling point. Ibrahim is the only person since the 9/11 attacks to file a court challenge that ultimately removed her name from the watch lists. It took her almost a decade to prevail in court and even that victory has proved pyrrhic for her. While a federal judge agreed that her inclusion on the no-fly list was groundless, she remains unable to obtain a visa that would allow her to visit the United States even to attend academic conferences. A close look at her case by ProPublica provides dramatic evidence of what was argued this month in Washington: It is indeed remarkably easy to get on the list and nearly impossible to get off.

If I were a Brit,
and I found out about all the "You have to keep us in the EU before we'll let you see what we're up to" crap, I'd be seriously pissed. Including
But this weekend The Sunday Times revealed there is no need for Turkey to join the EU to trigger mass migration.
Yeah, that's just going to thrill everybody.

Under a scheme floated by British diplomats, the UK Government could hand out some 1,500,000 visas as part of a sweetheart deal to thank Turkey for holding back refugees from crossing into Greece.Tomorrow's front page: Leaked UK plan to open doors for 1m Turks pic.twitter.com/tnYDEUfDtP— The Sunday Times (@thesundaytimes) June 11, 2016

I really wish Arizona had gone ahead with the recall on McCain,
9/11 and all, because that chickenshit is the damage that just keeps going on.
I understand what might be the sentiment. It costs $200,000 a year to store them, and the metal could be used to construct things the army could actually use. My problem here is that the 1911s McCain has marked for destruction and repurpose are primarily the ones meant to go to the CMP.
Why McCain feels the need to strip the CMP of their shipments of 1911's to distribute to the people, I'm not sure. Perhaps it is just frugality, but getting M1911's into the hands of civilians should be something any Republican should be gung-ho to do. Especially since the CMP is one of those organizations that sells to people who have only gone through all the necessary training and education.
God knows why that bastard does ANYTHING at this point. I just hope Arizona will finally send his ass home.

No, we don't need to worry about refugees,
or the border, nooo....
Police in a U.S. town bordering Mexico have apprehended an undocumented, Middle Eastern woman in possession of the region’s gas pipeline plans, law enforcement sources tell Judicial Watch. Authorities describe the woman as an “Islamic refugee” pulled over during a traffic stop by a deputy sheriff in Luna County, New Mexico which shares a 54-mile border with Mexico. County authorities alerted the U.S. Border Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Joint Terrorism Task Forces (JTTF) has been deployed to the area to investigate, sources with firsthand knowledge of the probe confirm.
There's going to be a attack of some kind by someone like this, and when people yell about it that idiot in the Oval Office and his minions will call them racist and unfeeling for being upset, "Why do you hate refugees and immigrants?", etc.
Alex Epstein had a terse response to a subpoena sent by Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey Wednesday.
...
Healey’s subpoena targeted the Center for Industrial Progress (CIP), a for-profit think tank founded by Epstein. Epstein wasn’t exactly happy about being targeted for disagreeing with Healey on global warming, so he sent the AG’s office the following response:
So, a guy who announces, before and DURING the attack, that he's with ISIS and so forth, but the Usual Suspects are still playing "We are having trouble figuring out why he did this!"
Here's that 'before':
Anyone having trouble figuring out why, or playing "It's because of Christians/conservatives/anti-gay/anything BUT jihad!" are either idiots or on the enemy side.
So Sen. Joe 'I support the 2nd Amendment' Manchin said this: Due process is what's killing us right now
So he's not actually that hot on the 2nd, and he doesn't care for that nasty due process. What else in the Constitution he swore to uphold does he consider a problem?

Dems and media are *this* close to saying the US Constitution is killing people. They are testing those waters right now
— Stephen Miller Wednesday, June 15, 2016
The New York Sli- Times, which is utterly dependent on the 1st Amendment,
thinks the others- especially the 2nd- are open to be trashed.
Short version: "We think this court is illegal, and it won't actually stop terrorists and bad guys, but we want this anyway."
The piece is written by Adam Winkler, a U.C.L.A. School of Law professor. Winkler argues the secret court is a good idea because the same kind of court is already used for government surveillance, and historically, the U.S. has committed worse rights violations such as Japanese internment camps.

And Jeh Johnson, the chief DHS jackass, brays again
The Islamic terrorist who carried out the horrific, atrocious attack
on Pulse nightclub in Orlando Sunday morning was employed by G4S
security company as a licensed, professional security guard with the
ability to carry a firearm on duty. He worked at the company for years.
G4S is contracted by the Department of Homeland Security to protect federal buildings, including nuclear facilities, and is responsible for providing security protocol for major transportation hubs around the country.
Further, the terrorist (an American citizen) purchased the firearms he used Sunday legally and passed a background check to do so.
Despite these facts, during an interview with CBS this morning Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson declared gun control as a "matter of national security."
Of course he did; he's following his master's lead.
Remember, he's over the people who've never caught a terrorist at the airport, who steal your stuff, who molest you and abuse you. But he declares "This is a matter of National Security!", and expects people to swoon and fall into line.
Fuck you, Johnson.

Another study showing "No, cholesterol isn't the horrible killer
we'd been told."
Cholesterol does not cause heart disease in the elderly and trying to reduce it with drugs like statins is a waste of time, an international group of experts has claimed.
A review of research involving nearly 70,000 people found there was no link between what has traditionally been considered “bad” cholesterol and the premature deaths of over 60-year-olds from cardiovascular disease.
Published in the BMJ Open journal, the new study found that 92 percent of people with a high cholesterol level lived longer.
Yes, of course it's being denied; it goes against the Settled Science(God, I've come to hate that attitude).
If you'll excuse me, I have some bacon to eat.

While all the usual suspects are screaming "BAN EVERYTHING!!",
one of the best Cluebats™ every made for beating them with came from Larry Correia, and it's here. It's a long piece, but well worth the time to read. And quote from. Good for hammering idiocy.
Speaking of idiocy,
You'll notice there's no 'was used to', or any reference to human agency; it's as if the wastes of oxygen who committed the crimes didn't really exist. Because it's so much easier to come up with idiocy such as 'This gun is JUST LIKE A NUKE! Or a Sarin bomb!", than it is to deal with the ugly fact that evil people committed the acts.
That no-fly list Hillary and a bunch of other hoplophobes think should ban people from owning guns? Here's part of why that's such a load of crap:
Chief Judge Alex Kozinski had a simple question for the government attorney: what would you do if you found yourself on the No Fly List? After some hemming and hawing, the attorney said that he would seek “redress” from the Department of Homeland Security – even though DHS does not place people on the No Fly list and has no authority to remove them (that’s the FBI’s job). Because, the lawyer conceded, DHS would not be able to confirm or deny whether he was on the list, he would then seek review in a federal appellate court. And what would the court be able to do?, asked Judge Kozinski. Not much, said the government lawyer. In fact, the lawyer would not even concede that a federal court possessed the authority to order someone removed from the No Fly List.
Speaking of,
Ever noticed that when Obama blames someone being radicalized on 'things found on the internet', it does two things: gives him a way to claim 'We need more control over the internet', and takes things like, say, imams saying that 'killing homosexuals is a kindness' out of the picture?

I swear, the idiots in charge won't stop this crap until there's a Mumbai attack
in a major city. And maybe not then.
On Sunday, the East Orlando Post reported startling words from James Copenhaver, whom it described as a “veteran investigator and former Orlando law enforcement officer.” Said Copenhaver:
Because the FBI and other law enforcement agencies don’t study Islam, and this is a direct result of Muslim groups demanding the removal of such material. Those who are committed to protecting us are taught to downplay and deny the motivating ideology behind jihad terror attacks.
You'd think that, even without training on the matter, the images of gays being thrown off buildings, and stoned to death, might have made just a little impression...
But apparently not. Which is so idiotic, I can't really describe it.
PC at any cost.

I have been in this business for 30 years, and we all in law enforcement have talked about one of the theme parks getting hit by these terrorist killers. Never in all my years of training, and being involved in several investigative units, to include the FBI Task Force, would we have ever guessed a LGBT club be a target of an terrorist attack. Why would they never have guessed?

And the Usual Suspects are out there screaming the usual BS
ACLU lawyers blame 'Christian right,' GOP for Orlando terrorist attack is a good one. Because the muslim who committed a terrorist attack can't be held fully responsible; it would violate the Preferred Narrative, and we can't have that. It would also violate the "We need more gun laws!" screeching of the blood-dancers. Speaking of, here's a question:
There’s also a disturbing question about how Mr. Mateen managed to keep working as a security guard despite having been twice investigated by the FBI. He had been employed since mid-2007 by G4S, a private security firm that does work for the U.S. Government, including transporting illegal immigrants around the country for the Department of Homeland Security. How he kept this job even though he was known to Federal authorities for suspected ties to jihadism is something that has to be asked – and answered.
And when it's asked, the idiots like the moron ACLU lawyer will scream "RACISM!" and such.
Also of interest from the second link,
The killer’s family has claimed that their son’s terrible act had “nothing to do with religion” – again, following the script we have come to expect whenever a young person, usually male, brutally murders strangers in the name of Islam. While Omar Mateen’s father claims to be utterly mystified by his son’s actions, that assertion should be examined closely, since Seddique Mateen has publicly praised the Taliban in his home country – the very people the American military has been fighting since late 2001. In a truly bizarre twist, Mateen Senior claims to be the real president of Afghanistan. His statement that his son was triggered by seeing two men kissing in public seems unlikely to endear the family to the American public.
And Dear Leader went to his usual crap:
Although Mr. Obama demurred from some of his customary evasions, actually calling the attack an “act of terrorism,” he quickly defaulted to his usual talking points whenever radical Muslims butcher Americans: “hate” and “guns” were cited frequently by the president, while words such as “Islamism” and “jihad” were notable by their absence. Mr. Obama’s denial of the obvious, perfected during his two terms in the White House, appears unshakeable.
These evasions are met with derision by counterterrorism professionals, who deduced Mr. Obama’s agenda back in 2009 when he dismissed the Fort Hood massacre as “workplace violence.”
And while the media is concentrating on 'mass shooting' and ignoring 'terrorism',
FOX News reported Monday that the US was sending guns to Banias and Borj Islam, Syria before the Benghazi terrorist attack.

US Intelligence agencies were fully aware that weapons were moving from the terrorist stronghold in Libya to Syria before the attack that killed four Americans…'Mass shooting' makes a fine distraction from asking Hillary Clinton about this, doesn't it?
September 16, 2012 DIA Memo copied to the National Security Council, CIA, and others concluded the Benghazi terrorist attack was planned at least ten or more days in advance…
The memo also tied the attack to 9-11… No discussion of a demonstration or anti-Mohammad video.
US officials were aware that weapons were being shipped to Syria by the Port of Benghazi.

And they wonder why people don't like them...
Now the Drug Enforcement Administration wants that same kind of
power, starting with access to an Oregon database containing the private
medical data of more than a million people.
The DEA has claimed for years that under federal law it has the authority to access the state’s Prescription Drug Monitor Program database using only an “administrative subpoena.” These are unilaterally issued orders that do not require a showing of probable cause before a court, like what’s required to obtain a warrant.
In 2012 Oregon sued the DEA to prevent it from enforcing the subpoenas to snoop around its drug registry. Two years ago a U.S. District Court found in favor of the state, ruling that prescription data is covered by the Fourth Amendment’s protection against unlawful search and seizure.
But the DEA didn’t stop there. It appealed the ruling to the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco and has been fighting tooth and nail ever since to access Oregon’s files on its own terms.
"Hey, we have warrants(they just don't have to actually go before a judge to be sworn to and all that), so what's the problem?"
Other than you wanting to ignore the Constitution? Oh, I can think of a couple of others, you bastards.

"...the individual who attacked an Orlando nightclub Sunday morning bragged
about “having ties to terrorist organizations.”
And, as expected, "IT'S THE GUNS! MORE LAWS NEEDED!!" Something missing, though:
It should be noted that Ehrenfreund doesn’t make a single mention of radical Islamic terrorism and the ties it has to the string of recent mass shootings on American soil.
Seems Obama is following his usual and won't say the words 'Islamic terrorist/extremist'. Also,
FBI assistant investigator in charge Ronald Hopper told Fox News Sunday morning that there are “suggestions that the individual may have leanings toward that particular ideology.”

Well, we've been expecting it;
it happened.
Keep your eyes open, wherever you are. Know how to get out. It's going to happen again. If we're lucky, it'll be more dirtbags like this; if we're not, it'll be some trained jihadi who walked across our 'secure' border, or was let in as a refugee.
Oh, and you can count on all the Usual Suspects screaming "If only we'd had more gun laws!" Because terrorists planning mass-murder are very careful to obey such laws.
