Miguel at GFZ likes to say "If your cause is just, why do you have to lie?"
In this case it's "Why do you have to fake a crime?"
This bastard teacher planted a 9mm cartridge in a stairwell, then acted like he found it and called the cops, also causing a lockdown of the school. He's on video, but pled not guilty:
Mr. Purcell’s lawyer for the arraignment, Leah J. Metro, said her client denied any involvement with the bullet that was found. Ms. Metro said Mr. Purcell has been an educator about 30 years, including about a year with the Southbridge district which is managed by the state because of chronic underperformance.
The teacher, according to authorities, admitted he was trying to bring attention to concerns about school safety. The teacher told authorities it needs more security, specifically metal detectors in the facility, which is a combined building for middle and high school students.
Take note of that 'managed because of chronic underperformance' bit; with teachers like this...

I've mentioned this before, but it still pisses me off
But their use has sparked a privacy
debate, with civil liberties group Big Brother Watch branding the move a
'breach of fundamental rights to privacy and freedom of assembly'.
Police argue they are necessary to crack down on spiralling crime.
Officers previously insisted people could decline to be scanned, before later clarifying that anyone trying to avoid scanners may be stopped and searched.
"Yes, you can decline, but if you do we'll force you to obey. And give you a ticket. Because public safety."
The bastards really ARE treating 1984 as a how-to manual.
I have a quote for the Met. Which, since I'm not under their thumb, I can post without them being able to jail me for hurting their feelings:
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences. - C.S. Lewis

How do you know the people yelling "Racist!" are full of shit?
Ferdinand Protzman, the chief of staff for the school administration and
a 1975 graduate of Oberlin College, was on the stand Friday morning to
testify why he didn’t think the school’s decisions to cut business ties
with the little local bakery was a good idea after students launched a
protest claiming Gibson’s was racist. The racist claim came about because students were upset that Gibson’s caught three African-American students shoplifting in November of 2016.
And were beating on the employee who chased after them. So of course the employee is a violent racist, and the store is run by racists. And they must pay.
And you know the college is run by leftist idiots when they tolerate this:
Gibson’s attorney Lee Plakas asked Protzman what was the reason for cutting ties with the business they had worked with for more than a century. He pointed out emails from various administrators that the student might have throw a “tantrum” on campus, specifically in the cafeteria while eating dinner, and that might be a good reason to get their cookies and bagels elsewhere.
“The concern was that the students were angry?” Plakas asked. “The fear was that angry students would throw food [made by Gibson’s] on the floor [of the cafeteria] and stomp on it?”
“Yes, that was one of the concerns,” Protzman answered.
“Doesn’t that sound more like a nursery school than a college?” Plakas continued.
“Nursery school students do throw food on the floor, yes,” Protzman said, adding “We are not the students’ parents,” as the reason the school could not tell the students to quit threatening to throw food on the floor and eat their dinner like nice people do.
The proper response to that threat would have been "You are not children, you are young adults and will behave as such. Anyone involved in such actions will be punished." But that would require administrators who care more about education than about showing how sensitive and caring they are toward spoiled brats.
Further demonstration of asshats running the place:
...Jason Hawk, who was editor of the Oberlin News Tribune, with a print circulation of less than 1,000 in 2016, testified he was repeatedly blocked from taking photos of the protest by Dean Meredith Raimondo, and was handed a flyer calling Gibson’s racist by Raimondo. [You can read Hawk’s deposition testimony on Raimondo’s involvement here.]
This, by the way, while the college clowns claimed they were only there to try to calm things down.
I hope the bakery winds up owning the morons involved.

What? Comrade Mayor thinks the law doesn't apply to he

He's a friggin' communist, why is anyone surprised when he acts like he's commissar of the city?

Haunts the EffingBI? I hope it's giving them bloody nightmares
Suddenly, Baker’s lawyer, Dan Levin, jumped in: “One second,” he said
before he and his client had a conversation off the record.
When the microphones were back on, Levin declared he would “not let [Baker] answer these questions right now. You may or may not know, he's been the subject of a leak investigation which is still – a criminal leak investigation that's still active at the Justice Department.” And so Levin concluded, “I’m sorry. I'm cutting off any discussion about conversations with reporters.”
North Carolina Rep. Mark Meadows wanted to make clear what Baker’s lawyer was claiming: “You're saying he's under criminal investigation? That's why you're not letting him answer?”
“Yes.”
There should be a bunch of criminal investigations connected to all this. A bunch of these bastards broke laws, some of them have admitted it, and they need to pay for it.

This mess from the Houston cops just keeps getting worse
They lied to get the warrant, they've planted drugs in the past, and now this:
A recent forensic inspection of the house, commissioned by the couple's relatives, casts doubt on that account and reinforces the suspicion that at least some of the four officers who suffered bullet wounds were shot by their colleagues.
...
It is not clear that Tuttle knew the armed intruders, who were not wearing uniforms and did not announce themselves before storming into the house, were police officers. Nor is there any body camera footage of the raid that might shed light on that question.
Hey, if you were a dirty cop making a bullshit raid, would you want a camera on?
But there is physical evidence at the house, which seems inconsistent with the story told by the narcotics officers. Houston Chronicle reporters Keri Blakinger and St. John Barned-Smith say a forensics team that the Tuttle and Nicholas families hired, headed by Mike Maloney, a retired supervisory special agent with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, "found no indication that any of the guns Tuttle owned were fired toward the front of the house at incoming police."
While Maloney has not completed his analysis yet, "the initial bullet trajectories appear to be somewhat contradictory," Chuck Bourque, an attorney representing Nicholas' family, told the Chronicle. "We see no evidence that anybody inside the house was firing toward the door."
"Hey, we'll just charge in and shoot everyone." Bloody hell.
Throw in this:
Houston Police Department spokesman Kese Smith told me he can't answer any questions about the ballistic evidence, or even explain why the revolver that Tuttle allegedly used was not listed on the search warrant inventory, until after HPD has completed its criminal and internal affairs investigations of the raid, which is also being investigated by the FBI and the Harris County District Attorney's Office. But Maloney's team found that police left behind a lot of potentially relevant evidence, including two teeth, a men's shirt with bullet holes and an evidence tag, a shotgun shell casing, and about a dozen .223- and .45-caliber bullets in the walls and floor, which apparently were fired by police.
What the HELL? At best this is sloppy as hell, at most...
How many other people did these bastards set up? How many lies, how many tainted warrants, how many people in cells who shouldn't be?
And the question a helluva lot of people are asking, why the hell didn't Houston PD do something about this before?

This time olive oil is the culprit.
Screw these bastards, bacon grease and tallow it is. And if I make some focaccia, it'll be olive oil I dip it in.

Things like this are why the Democrats want so badly to damage Barr
The Obama White House kept tabs on a Freedom of Information Act
(FOIA) request for information on former Secretary of State Hillary
Clinton’s email accounts that the State Department improperly denied,
according to newly released emails.
The emails, which were provided to Judicial Watch, show for the first time that the Obama White House was aware of the Clinton-related FOIA request, which the liberal watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) submitted to the State Department in December 2012.
The State Department denied the request in May 2013, claiming that no responsive records existed. That despite officials at the State Department, the White House and even President Obama himself knowing that Clinton used a personal email account for government business.
So they knew she'd been violating law, on this even if they didn't know about other things(chance of them not knowing? Just about zero).
And this is just the start. Pelosi and Schumer & Co. are going to get even worse in the near future.

Nervous? I don't doubt it, and he damn well out to be
Former FBI General Counsel James Baker admitted on Friday that he is “nervous” about DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s investigation into the conduct of the DOJ and the FBI during the Trump-Russia probe.
Baker said he is “assuming that they will dig and find stuff” and that “we’ll try to sort it out and see what mistakes were made.” But Baker defended the FBI's actions, including its use of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
'mistakes'. No, when people deliberately lie under oath and all the other crap they did, it was not 'mistakes'. They think their real mistake was getting caught.
Baker contended that he was “confident in the judgments that I made at the time based on the information that I had available to me.” But he left open the possibility that others may have engaged in wrongdoing, saying, “I’m sure they will find things that I didn’t know at the time and maybe that others didn’t know at the time.” [emphases added]
Translation: "Don't blame ME!"
This is likely to get real amusing as the various rats start turning on each other.

Well, we know who the real haters-
and the delusional- are. Or, in the case of Tlaib, the lying asshat.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., has made yet another shocking and historically ignorant claim: That thinking about the Holocaust gives her a "calming feeling" because her Palestinian ancestors provided a "safe haven" for Jewish victims of the tragedy.
You have to read this to get the full flavor of the stupid and/or dishonesty of this. It's downright amazing.
And then we have that other champion of the Democrats, Calypso Louie:
As he ascended the platform at St. Sabina's last week, Farrakhan railed against "Satanic Jews" and referenced the sorting of Jewish prisoners at Auschwitz into lines destined for Nazi work camps and those destined for gas chambers. Farrakhan claimed that he was imbued with the divine right to label some Jews "good" and some bad.
"I stand on God's word," Farrakhan told the crowd, according to Haaretz, adding that he knows "the truth" and that his mission is to "separate the good Jews from the Satanic Jews."
Etc.
And anybody involved claiming to be surprised by this is either a liar or an idiot. Snuffy Pfleger is a lying, bigoted bastard. If the head of that diocese had any balls or integrity, Snuffy would be gone. But he doesn't, Cardinal Cupich, being heavily involved in social justice issues himself.

Scene from the range,
holiday edition. Mother's Day, to be specific.
One of the things the anti-rights people keep pushing is "Only a few old white guys own most of the guns." Because ANYBODY who isn't old/white/male owning arms just doesn't fit the Preferred Narrative™. They'd have hated this weekend.
The Mother's Day weekend included mom's getting free range time and a free rental if they desired, and a LOT of women, sometimes alone and sometimes with family along, took advantage of it.
And, just to add to the irritation of the gun bigot's hemorrhoids, lots of them were not white. Damn near a rainbow. Some shooters come in for the holiday, some 'never fired a shot before' people who wanted to give it a try. And every one I saw left with a smile on their face. Which knowledge would really piss off the hoplophobes and gun bigots.
Ah well, the weekend is over. But the fight goes on. And every time someone comes in with "I've never shot a gun before", gives it a try, and has fun, we move things along in a good direction.

Either stupid or suicidal;
Why the hell else would you get into the enclosure with an apex predator?
I can imagine the bears thinking "That's OUR squeaky snack you're taking!" And I'm really surprised she's alive.

Tab clearing
Be surprised if that part of the world wasn't haunted.
This. Is. CNN.
As has been noted, if your cause is just, why lie?
EVERY Democrat running for the Oval Office wants to trash the 2nd.
"But I bought an ELECTRIC CAR, why am I being punished?"
No, this doesn't sound suspicious at all...
Arrested for 'illegal manufacture and sale of assault weapons', out the next day on $50k bond? With no charges filed?
And it wouldn't surprise me to find out the 'manufacturing equipment and tools' were the stuff you could find in most garage/workshop setups lots of people have.
Considering the Evil Party lately, they invited him BECAUSE he hates Jews. They may have a problem with the hating gays and women who won't do what they're told and so forth, but they'll work around that.

"Can't stop the signal, Mal."
Very, very true.
After the hearing, NCA deputy director for investigations Chris Farrimond said: "It is the first time that a fully-functioning firearms factory creating firearms from scratch has been discovered, to our knowledge, in the UK.
"It was producing handguns, copies of a Browning pistol, from absolute scratch - from the nuts and bolts and producing fully functioning lethal firearms at the other end of it, with the bullets to go with it."
No way of telling whether they were actually manufacturing ammo, or reloading cases, but either is possible.
I'll bet there are others. I've read that during WWII Sten subguns were produced in bicycle shops in the UK, so making something similar now wouldn't be difficult. But they still think they can make them go away...
There's a site called Impro Guns that tracks information about such, the post links notes
that this guy did manufacture the ammo for at least one of the guns he made.

The blood dancers are getting some pushback
Survivors of a Colorado school shooting walked out of a vigil for their slain classmate Wednesday night in protest of politicians and other groups using it as a platform for gun control, a local report said.
Short version: the Brady clowns set this up and, from the sound of it, said it was just a memorial, then had a bunch of anti-rights clowns show up and start lecturing. Which didn't go over well.
Further, from this post, the Brady clowns 'apologizing':
I'm calling bullshit; they knew EXACTLY what they were doing, especially with this bitch invited:
Moms Demand Action's Laura Reeves heavily politicizes the STEM School Highlands Ranch vigil:
-Blames NRA
-Demonizes pro-gun politicians
-Advocates working to elect Democrats
-Tells students to register voters, stage walkouts, raise $$$, & use social media to promote gun control
'We're sorry' my ass; the only thing they're sorry about is that a bunch of students didn't put up with it and put their bullshit in the public eye.

These people are both idiots, and dangerous
This crap showed up on Fecesbook
A: Show me ANYTHING indicating that ever happened outside someone's fevered imagination.
B: Know what happens to a troop of baboons if all the alpha males die? Most of the troop dies, because they're the ones in the front line to defend the troop when the predators approach.
C: Assuming it ever happened, and some of the infant males reach teenage years, what happens? Millions of years of hard-wired instinct causes them to start acting like males, except here they wouldn't have the teaching of the adult males to make sure they don't screw up. That's not going to end well.
I'll throw in that this is a fine demonstration of progressive idiocy: instinct doesn't really exist, EVERYTHING is due to being socialized that way, and if you just socialize them 'properly' they can be made more perfect and Society Will Change To Happiness.
That anyone can actually believe this shit is amazing, but they do. And some of them are like trasy, who seems to like the idea of wiping out adult males so they can properly mold the kids. Which is one more reason to, if you haven't, take up the practice of arms.
Added: I am informed by someone with experience that the morons involved have no idea what female baboons are like. But that wouldn't fit the narrative, so they'd ignore it.

"Women don't lie about rape!"
Unfortunately, some do. And they do a lot of damage. Therefore, harsh punishment is needed.
Crap like this is why assuming someone is guilty because they were accused is idiotic.

The food police might be wrong(again)?
One more time.
Few years back, when the FP had another reversal on something, I did some reading. Then did some more. Came to the conclusion that they were full of crap, and went back to using butter, and saving bacon grease for cooking, and stopped worrying about eating meat.
Couple of years after that my doctor insisting I should get a full physical, and when the results came back he'd written on the bottom "Whatever you're doing, keep doing it". So I have.
I suggest as a start, if you're interested, the book mentioned in the post, The Big Fat Surprise. That's one of those I ran across, and it has a real good look at the history of the nutrition research* that got us into this mess.
Added: here's another one
*Some of which is a disgrace to the name.

"Yes, we did, but we don't like to call it 'spying',
so we call it 'surveillance'."
“I was very concerned by his [Bill Barr’s] use of the word spying, which I think is a loaded word,” Shaheen said. “When FBI agents conduct investigations against alleged mobsters, suspected terrorists, other criminals, do you believe they’re engaging in spying when they’re following FBI investigative policies and procedures?”
“Well, that’s not the term I would use,” said Wray.
Assholes.
This is the FBI Director who said 'No, I don't think anything in this reflects badly on the Bureau' when asked about Comey and Sztrok and others breaking laws and rules and procedures. After all, the Prime Directive is "Protect the Sacred Bureau".
The other day some retired agent said Wray is dedicated to cleaning the place up. I have my doubts.

Well, I'm now a ladle believer
In casting big bullets.
I've mentioned before that I have a Lee bottom-pour melter for casting. Generally it works great, but when casting the big(.45 caliber), heavy(500 grains and more) bullets I was getting a lot of rejects: the lube grooves wouldn't fill out completely, or the base wouldn't be right*. Did some research and a lot of people mentioned they'd not had good results on those bullets with a melter like this, that a ladle worked better. I'd read that before, but this was at the point of "I'm sick of throwing them back in the pot", so last time I cast I found my old ladle and tried it. Short trial, but seemed to work.
So I invested in a small Lee melter designed for ladle use, and today was able to give it a try with the Lyman 535-grain mold. And holy crap, the difference! Once the mold was up to heat, very few bullets with defects. The ladle is slower, and the pot's only four-pound capacity, but that works out: between the ladle use and adding metal to the pot, the mold didn't get so hot it needed to cool more**, and with the low reject rate it's better this way.
I also tried it with another mold, a Lee that throws a 405-grain hollowbase bullet. Reject rate a lot lower with this one as well.
So ladle it is for these from now on.
* In case you're not familiar with this, a defect on the base- not filled out, a crease, whatever- is worse than a defect elsewhere; that's the last place airflow can affect the bullet, and can really affect accuracy.
**A mold gets too hot, the bullets come out with a frosted appearance, and in some molds can actually have a somewhat rough(very slightly, but there) surface.

Short version: if you trust the Southern Poverty Lies Center
about anything, you're either a fool or a bigot.
Last week, the Poynter Institute for Media Studies, a non-profit journalism and research organization, published a list of 500 unreliable new websites. But the list, which included many conservative news and think tank websites, was itself unreliable, and Poynter has since retracted it.

Golding's LinkedIn account lists him as a freelance podcast producer for the Southern Poverty Law Center. The SPLC did not respond to my questions about whether other SPLC staff had any influence or involvement over the list. Golding did not immediately respond to my request for comment, either. According to his Twitter feed, he works with the SPLC's "Teaching Tolerance" project. He was formerly a research fellow at the Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute and a producer for NPR.

"Nice weather the next few days!" Right
About twelve hours later it's "Storms the next few days, some severe!", etc.
If it doesn't dry out enough to mow this afternoon, it will be shortgrass prairie, and I may need to borrow a scythe from someone.

Some understand this; some insist it's a fantasy
Considering history, I'll go with "You want to ban arms? Screw you."
“Venezuelans didn’t care enough about it. The idea of having the means to protect your home was seen as only needed out in the fields. People never would have believed they needed to defend themselves against the government,” Vanegas explained. “Venezuelans evolved to always hope that our government would be non-tyrannical, non-violator of human rights, and would always have a good enough control of criminality.”
He said it didn’t take long for such a wide-eyed public perception to fall apart. “If guns had been a stronger part of our culture, if there had been a sense of duty for one to protect their individual rights, and as a show of force against a government power – and had legal carry been a common thing – it would have made a huge difference,” he lamented.
Also, ever noticed that most of the clowns who hate the private citizen having arms are very fond of communism/socialism?
Not surprising; it's a lot harder to say "Do this or else" to people who can shoot back.

This. Is. CNN.
CNN covered the January controversy surrounding Nick Sandmann and his fellow Covington Catholic School students 23 times, yet thus far hasn’t covered footage of children at a Philadelphia Islamic center reading poetry about chopping off heads.
Video from last month of kids at the Philadelphia Muslim American Society (MAS) Islamic Center showed them reading about chopping off heads and subjecting the enemies of Allah to “eternal torture.”
What, anyone actually thinks CNN is a news bureau or something?
