Congressional leaders investigating the FBI’s suspiciously inept investigation of ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s emails are turning their attention to FBI chief James Comey’s truthfulness. Did he mislead them? Did he perjure himself?
Damn well 'mislead' at the least.  On 'perjure' there you get into legal definitions and he might be able to claim skating right on the edge but not actually crossing it.  Either way, he failed the test.


So the Clinton crowd doesn't think Breitbart has a right to exist.  Isn't that wonderful of them?  Wonder how they'd react if someone connected with the Stupid Party said that, say, MSNBC has no right to exist?


You've got two choices: Obamacare was badly set up, is badly run, and needs to be stopped, or it's working exactly as desired so they can say "We need single-payer to fix this!"

A headline in the Washington Post would suggest that the line of thinking in these Wikileaks-obtained emails was mere joking, but the conversational back-and-forth appears to be in dead earnest.


If this information is correct, no wonder Clinton wants the e-mail mess to go away so badly: she told the bad guys exactly where the Ambassador would be.

And has lied about it ever since; consequences are for little people and minions.

By that measure, "gun control" results in "disproportionate harm to communities of color," since places like Chicago with strict gun control laws have astronomically high levels of death and injury by gunshot. Ask the writer of this recent Pro Publica piece, How the Gun Control Debate Ignores Black Lives.  But continuing:

Mr. Nixon, a Democrat, vetoed the measure in June, saying it would allow individuals with a criminal record to legally carry a concealed firearm even though they had been, or would have been, denied a permit under the old law’s background check.

Which means he lied, since anyone with a felony record, or a conviction that could have resulted in a sentence exceeding one year (regardless of what sentence was actually handed down), or anyone under a domestic violence restraining order or found guilty of a domestic violence charge is - by Federal law - prohibited from possessing a firearm. Period. Doesn't matter how they carry it. So if their criminal record would have prevented them having a permit, it should prevent them from having a FIREARM.

But the New York Times' Editorial Board doesn't tell you that.

Mayors Sly James of Kansas City and Francis Slay of St. Louis warned against restricting the power of the local police to deny guns to those who commit domestic violence.

And they lied too. It's FEDERAL law, and local police are quite empowered to enforce it.

You've only got two choices: Feingold has no damned idea what he's talking about, or he's lying.  I'm going with lying, because at this point ANYBODY who's actually read ANYTHING on this knows that there is no gun show or internet loophole.  If he's not lying, it means he's so pig-ignorant that he should not be allowed any influence on legislation.  Considering the Evil Party anymore I'm strongly tempted to go with "Why not both?", but on this particular point, I think he's a damned liar.

Which brings up an interesting point: are they talking about an executive order to close a non-existent 'loophole'?  Which would mean they're talking about "I Will Pass This Order!" that they know won't do anything, so they can simultaneously tell their supporters "See?  We passed that order against the evil Gun Lobby!", will quietly pointing out to us "See?  This doesn't actually hurt you!"  Which, considering Clinton and the Evil Party and the example set by Obama, wouldn't surprise me at all.  Which would mean that her supporters would be mad as hell when they realize what she's done to them.

How does this get handled in the general? Secretary Clinton is not an entertainer, and not a celebrity in the Trump, Kardashian mold; what can she do to offset this? I'm certain the poll-directed insiders are sure things will default to policy as soon as the conventions are over, but I think not.

And as I've mentioned, we've all been quite content to demean government, drop civics and in general conspire to produce an unaware and compliant citizenry. The unawareness remains strong but compliance is obviously fading rapidly. This problem demands some serious, serious thinking - and not just poll driven, demographically-inspired messaging.

Weeks after a firearm was allegedly found in his backpack at LAX, rapper Coolio has been charged in the case, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday.

Coolio faces a felony count of possession of a firearm by a felon with two prior convictions, according to a DA’s news release. He was convicted in 2001 of carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, and in 2009 on a charge of possessing a cocaine base.

As of last week, the U.S. Navy is dropping all job titles that include the word “man.” A chief yeoman will become just a chief. “Fire Controlmen” will become nondescript “Petty Officers.” To avoid insult, “sailors will no longer be identified by their job title,” says the Navy Times; the titles “airman, fireman, constructionman and hospitalman” will be “replaced by job codes”; “B320” or “B450” or some other colorless non-word. 

All this because no one has told Navy secretary, Ray Mabus, that the suffix “man” does not necessarily mean male.
I'm sure he knows; he doesn't care.  Apparently this is more important than the actual PROBLEMS the Navy has.  And the Marines, don't forget he's been playing the same games there, too.


There've been surveys showing people aren't holding Globular Warmering/Climate Changing the huge problem the Greenies want it to be seen as, and they're getting a bit desperate.
You may not have noticed, but 2016 was the hottest year for over 100,000 years. At least this was the claim reported last week by The Guardian, under the headline “Planet at its hottest for 115,000 years thanks fo climate change, experts say”.

The “experts” in question are a bunch of US scientists led by James Hansen, the former Nasa employee who did so much to set the great global warming scare on its way in 1988. And of course such a claim could only be made by ignoring all the evidence that the earth was actually hotter than today during the Mediaeval Warm Period, less than 1,000 years ago, and even more so during the thousands of years of the Holocene Optimum, following its emergence from the last ice age 10,000 years ago.

Now those “100 months” are up, it has prompted the diligent Paul Homewood to publish on his website, Not A Lot of People Know That, a set of graphs meticulously compiled from official data. The show what has actually happened to the earth’s climate in these past eight years. Despite the 2016 El Nino spike, now rapidly declining, satellite measurements still show that the trend in global temperatures has not risen for 18 years.

There are various stories out there that some Very Special Agents

You might recall that there were stories that 'lot of agents are threatening to retire/resign if Clinton is not recommended for prosecution'.  You hear of any masses of agents retiring and speaking out, or resigning?  Me neither.  The only ones quoted as speaking out are retired agents; no currently-serving are openly saying anything.

And they won't.  It would threaten their jobs, and cause them to be labeled troublemakers and subject to being transferred to less-desirable assignments.  Even if their bosses agree with them, they would have committed the cardinal sin:
I can't find the exact quote, but in one of the Joe Leaphorn mysteries he's reflecting on working with the FBI and thinks that there are two things that will get a FBI agent in real trouble: bringing bad publicity, no matter how small, on the Bureau, and having an original thought.  And even, as noted, if their supervisor agrees with them on what Comey & Co. have done, to say anything in public would be the primary sin of Bad Publicity for the Sacred Bureau.  So they won't do it.  At least not yet.

We're looking at a national-level version of the standard problem in law enforcement: someone may be a corrupt, nasty bastard, but most officers won't want to report them or testify against them because "He may be a dirty bastard, but he's one of us."  Maybe the damage to the EffingBI in particular and law enforcement in general may get bad enough that some will say "Enough, I have to say something."  We'll see.

Am I being unfair?  I don't think so.  Comey's not stupid, he had to know the damage his dog & pony show on Clinton would do both to his agency and confidence in the Justice Department.  Especially that idiot "Just because we're no recommending prosecution of Clinton, don't think we won't prosecute anyone else who does the same things!" statement.  That's literally standing in a national forum and saying "The commoners will certainly be prosecuted for the same acts!"  Which goes over about as well as you'd expect.  It's like he actually believed he could say that without causing even more damage than had already been done.  Which would seem to rank him in the 'insane' or 'stupid' column.  Maybe he knew the damage he'd do, and somehow thought that this would limit it?

Couldn't be, not unless he actually IS stupid.  Or indulging in a destructive level if wishful thinking, because that statement made it worse.  Far worse.  Having the thought that there are official 'special rules for special people' is bad, and corrosive; having the special rules rubbed in your face is worse.  Far worse.  It's saying "Yeah, she's rich and connected so she gets special treatment.  Deal with it, peasants." right out in the open.  And that's on top of the crap with BATF(Fast & Furious and the other gunrunning operations and NOBODY except the whistleblowers getting in trouble), the IRS(breaking its own rules and federal law, and then telling Congress "Screw you, do something about it"), the garbage the Dept. of 'Justice' has been caught in, culminating in the AG 'accidentally' spending time with Bill Clinton just before Comey's announcement.  And now the insult of these bastards telling us "If YOU violate a law or regulation, even one you don't know about, YOU will be screwed to the wall, because YOU peasants aren't rich and connected."  Throw in the VA mess: openly violating federal laws, faking records, not giving a damn how many vets die just trying to get a damned appointment, and nobody fired, nobody prosecuted...

Added: throw in Obamacare.  Throw in the architect on tape laughing about lying to people and calling them stupid.  Throw in the "If you like your plan" lies, told over and over.  Throw in the collapsing exchanges, the skyrocketing prices, and every asshole involved and cheering them on insisting the real fix is "More Government Control!"

Sarah Hoyt is a sci-fi writer, and she's kind of upbeat: "Yes, things are bad, but they CAN be repaired."  After this, I'm really not sure; if some kind of serious cleaning-out of all these agencies within the next, say, 2-3 years, it may not be fixable.  The damage to the belief that it CAN be fixed, that the government CAN be returned to serving the people, may be too great to fix.
