It's not just that Hollywood keeps remaking things,

they far too often screw them up.  Badly.

The commercials for The Magnificent Seven had pretty much decided me, but this brings it to "I'll see it- maybe- when it's on tv."

This kind of crap is why I keep wishing they'd make a real movie of the Matt Helm books, or Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser, and then dreading the idea because of what they'd probably do to them.

iF they need to research for Matt Helm, I just reread the entire series this summer. The Dean Martin movies were schlock. So I'm with you on that.

Fafhrd & The Grey Mouser books were excellent, but I'm not sure how well they would translate to movies. That was the kind of series that worked so well in a novel, where you could let your imagination go, it would probably spoil it for anyone who had actually read to books and had mentally created a private vision of that universe.

I haven't seen those Lieber books for years. It must be time to clean out the garage.
