Someone had a link to this song a week or so ago,

it's a bit odd bit I rather like it

Monday, May 18, 2026

There's a definite lack of blogging lately,

despite some bursts of stuff, and that'll continue for a while.  Busy with various things, and one will get busier in the next week.  We'll see how it goes.

One thing ran across, there's a Eurovision music competition, and the Croats did something that- of course- has the Turks all upset by being honest about some history.

It occurs to me that this old song, with the change of one word,

could be used to annoy hell out of a bunch of people.  Here's the song,

Now change Jacobites to Bidenites

What ye think?

How 'bout some music?

Song I hadn't heard in a long time, and I'd never seen- didn't even know- there was a video

Well, this is kind of awful

It is one of Queen's best-loved songs but Fat Bottomed Girls has been mysteriously dropped from the group's new Greatest Hits collection.

The 1978 track, which was written by guitarist Brian May, has been enjoyed by generations of fans as a humorous and hard-rocking tribute to a young man's appreciation of fuller-figured ladies.

Dammit, Gordon Lightfoot died

One of my favorite singers.
I'll throw in one of my favorite songs.  I first heard this as a kid, in the car, and it stuck with me. And it's a well done video

A song I really like,

even if I have to use the subtitles

I'm reminded of something I read, I can't remember where:
"Idiots here are pulling down statues of George Washington, and Jefferson, and others they're not fit to kiss the ass of; the Mongols asked "How great a memorial can we build to the Great Conquerer?"

This year just continues to be wonderful

Joseph “Dusty” Hill, ZZ Top’s bassist for more than 50 years, has died, the group’s longtime rep confirmed. No cause of death was cited.

Just picking one,

Three years and several thousand hours later,

I think da Vinci would be happy with the result.

Oh, joy
A new Ebola epidemic has been declared in the Democratic Republic of Congo after the deaths of three people thought to be linked to the virus.

Snork... Humans are Weird

Some older insults

On the idiot gun bigots in Washington:
So much for Michael Bloomberg’s I-594 living up to its promises. Not that anyone expected it to have any effect whatsoever on predators. What it did do, aside from forcing “law-abiding” gun owners to give up private transfers, was create and put a new class of “criminal” at risk for life-destroying consequences —the previously “law-abiding” who chose “I will not comply” civil disobedience over submission to new Intolerable Acts.

This new reporting law, Substitute House Bill 1501 also raises some questions I don’t see being addressed in “mainstream media” accounts.
Remember: the law can be an utter failure in stated purpose, but if it makes it more difficult for a citizen to own arms, they'll still consider it a success.

I cannot find a video or mp3 of this song;

places to buy it, but not to get a taste.  So I'll post the lyrics from Leslie Fish:
They were having a sale at the gun store; the Jukes boys decided to go
With the moonshine gone bad, and the poaching gone thin
Their business was doing quite slow
So they bought them a lot of hand-cannons, intent upon robb'ry and more
But they never once thought to consider
That they weren't alone in the store.

Next in line was a little old lady, and next was a handsome young dame
After her, came a man in a wheelchair
Then a lad with an underweight frame
They watched while the Jukes boys were buying, and considered what such boys would do
Then they looked at each other, they said not a word
But bought themselves hand-cannons too.

Well, that night Billy Jukes went out hunting; he spotted a girl who looked great
But when he pulled her into an alley
She pulled out a big 38.
He thought this was feminine bluffing; "Naw, girl, you can't shoot me," he said
Well, the very next second she proved he was wrong
And Billy Jukes quite lost his head.

Well, Joey Jukes went for the money, so he went to a big liquor store
And he hauled out his two-barrelled shotgun
The moment he walked through the door
He aimed at all present, and bellowed "Give me all ya got, or yer dead!"
So the counterboy lifted his 44 mag
And did just what Joey Jukes said.

Now, Beauregarde Jukes chose his pickin's with more care and planning by far
He jumped on a little old lady
Who was just getting into her car
But she promptly reached into her handbag and used the best choice she could make
For a 25 auto has such light recoil
As even a frail hand can take.

Now Roy Jukes was good at house burgling and still thought he'd escape without harm
When the owner rolled in with a shotgun
Braced on his wheelchair's arm
"Well, they'll bust you for shooting--" Roy started, but the man's shotgun cut off the lot
And he said, as he muscled Roy's corpse out the door
"There are no ballistics on shot."

So that was the end of the Jukes boys; the cops had to clean up the mess
So they slandered gun-owning civilians
All over the liberal press
But the victors who might have been victims go silent, although this is true:
So long as there's one weapon left in the world,
You better have you a gun too.

This has nothing to do with politics, I like this song

and the video someone put together really goes with it.

Someday I've got to see some of that series

You think maybe?

Congressional leaders investigating the FBI’s suspiciously inept investigation of ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s emails are turning their attention to FBI chief James Comey’s truthfulness. Did he mislead them? Did he perjure himself?
Damn well 'mislead' at the least.  On 'perjure' there you get into legal definitions and he might be able to claim skating right on the edge but not actually crossing it.  Either way, he failed the test.

So the Clinton crowd doesn't think Breitbart has a right to exist.  Isn't that wonderful of them?  Wonder how they'd react if someone connected with the Stupid Party said that, say, MSNBC has no right to exist?

You've got two choices: Obamacare was badly set up, is badly run, and needs to be stopped, or it's working exactly as desired so they can say "We need single-payer to fix this!"

Translation: "The Catholic Church needs to be made-over into a left-approved means of controlling people."
“There needs to be a Catholic Spring, in which Catholics themselves demand the end of a middle ages dictatorship and the beginning of a little democracy and respect for gender equality in the Catholic Church.” – Sandy Newman, president and founder of the Voices for Progress, in an email to John Podesta, chairman of the Hillary Clinton campaign for President.

In response, Podesta — a Catholic — tells Newman that structures have been put in place to work toward that end. A headline in the Washington Post would suggest that the line of thinking in these Wikileaks-obtained emails was mere joking, but the conversational back-and-forth appears to be in dead earnest.

If this information is correct, no wonder Clinton wants the e-mail mess to go away so badly: she told the bad guys exactly where the Ambassador would be.

And has lied about it ever since; consequences are for little people and minions.

This guy makes me want to pretend I only have a guitar for decoration

Something for bedtime

This song just doesn't seem right without this context

Sunday, August 16, 2015

And this includes 'advice' from Michelle Obama*:

Next Time Government Gives You Dietary Advice, Consider Doing the Opposite

*Don't you just love being told what to eat, and how much, by someone who eats whatever the hell she wants?

Woof.

Hillary Clinton is now saying "I never sent or received 'anything MARKED classified'.  Am I the only one thinking this is the base for throwing various minions to the dogs?
"Hey, if some of my staff took the 'classified' headers off, how is that MY fault?"  Etc.

Wonder how the minions feel about that?
