A: Well, he's right; a lot of them ARE traitors

B: Considering what the legal profession too-often is, of course they want to punish him; he spoke uncomfortable truths, and they really don't like that.

"I'll take the Fifth!"  Fine; you should have to sit there, under oath, and do it to every question they ask.  While the evidence is gone over.

And note that Cummings, who found nothing wrong with anything ATF did in the various gunrunning schemes, still wants to protect a fellow Democrat no matter what.

So NOAA doesn't just screw with data to give the preferred outcome:
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration employees dumped untreated bilge water from a ship’s bilge into the ocean roughly every six days throughout 2013, violating environmental laws, federal regulations and the agency’s own policies, the Department of Commerce Office of Inspector General found. They also spilled fuel in a harbor.
...
The NOAA engineers claimed they’re exempt from the law as operators of a “public vessel,” an assertion the IG rejected
.
Anytime a .gov employee says 'I'm exempt from that law, because public employee/public vessel/whatever!', they should be immediately fired.  And prosecuted.  And the agency who had a hand in them thinking this should have their budget cut.  Maybe 25% as a start.

I can tell you for a fact that military officers are not exempt from those laws and can be held criminally and financially responsible for environmental damage. So, I don't see why other branches of the same executive branch would have different exemptions status.
