It's not just my carbon footprint I don't want to be lectured about

by these people; it's money. Considering what all they're spending of other peoples' money on ANOTHER vacation...

And note, since Insty posted this the paper has taken out the bit on Bo and added a sidebar:
Clarification: Today's story about the arrival of the Obamas said the Obama's dog and one aide arrived on a small jet before the First Family, but there were other occupants on the plane, including several other staffers. The presidential party took two small jets to the Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport in Trenton because the airport was too small to accommodate the president's usual jet.
My first thought is "Of course there were other staffers on the plane; they're called the 'crew'.
Why no, I do not trust these people to tell the truth, and I don't trust the major media to even ask about it, let alone demand answers; they're still to busy kissing his ass.

Dick has a simple answer for the situation

Kill them. And I have a certain sympathy with that view. Especially when I read things like this:
The far-reaching new banking and consumer protection bill awaiting President Barack Obama’s signature now shifts from the politicians to the technocrats.

The legislation gives regulators latitude and time to come up with new rules, requires scores of studies and, in some instances, depends on international agreements falling into place.

For Wall Street, the next phase represents continuing uncertainty. It also offers banks and other financial institutions yet another opportunity to influence and shape the rules that govern their businesses.

In hailing the bill’s passage in the Senate on Thursday, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner acknowledged that implementing the new law will take time.

“But we are determined to move as quickly as we can to provide clarity and certainty,” he said
.
These miserable little socialist bastards have just told business "Here's ANOTHER big pile of crap that nobody actually knows what all is in it; so there's ANOTHER big "How can I even think of investing or expanding when I don't know what's going to happen?" for us to deal with?" And it especially makes me lean toward ropes when you add this in:
Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama, the top Republican on the Senate Banking Committee, criticized the bill as not “real reform,” saying it doesn’t address the problems of mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, whose questionable lending helped start a collapse in the housing market.
So. The corrupt bastards not only made another step toward ruling us, they exempted all their little buttmonkeys at Fannie and Freddie from 'regulation' in this.

But, I an a merciful sort. I'll settle for floggings. Followed by tar and feathers and a lifelong ban on EVER serving in any public office or lobbying position.

The only difference I can see between this idiot Zuckerman

and James Carville is that Carville couldn't even pretend to not know exactly what Obama was and is, but Zuckerman might actually be able to say "I didn't believe he actually meant all that stuff"; and in both cases, well, you bastards got exactly what you wanted, and you brought it down on all of us. Carville, you've got your beloved Louisiana economy being trashed even more than other states by Obama's actions; Zuckerman, your business and everybody else's is being trashed by the socialist dirtbag you helped push into the Oval Office.

Screw both of you. If it wasn't for him working to destroy all of us, I'd just sit back and watch you people squirm.

Ok, it's official: Chavez is even weirder than previously thought

And more of a bastard, as well:
Venezuela exhumed the remains of 19th century independence hero Simon Bolivar on Friday and will test them to see if he was poisoned by enemies in Colombia.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez rejects the traditional account that Bolivar, a brilliant Venezuelan military tactician who freed much of South America from centuries of Spanish rule, died of tuberculosis in Colombia in 1830.

He insists Bolivar was murdered by a Colombian rival, and Venezuela’s newly inaugurated state forensics laboratory is taking as its first case the death of the hero some call Latin America’s George Washington.

I've said some bad things about Canada;

and I'm about to say some more.
In a horribly obscene and bizarre bit of multi-culti-flavored injustice, a Muslim mother who strangled her daughter with a headscarf will not go to jail. Not for one day. Daryl Slade writes for Canada.com that the judge, Sal LoVecchio, acquitted the mother, Aset Magomadova, of second-degree murder and found her guilty of manslaughter in the death of her daughter, Aminat, 14:
He placed her on probation for three years with several conditions, including taking counselling for grief, depression and anger management.

...Magomadova was charged after the deadly incident at their home the morning of Feb. 26, 2007, after Aminat refused to go to court to be sentenced for assaulting a female teacher at her school.
...
LoVecchio, who rejected a defence of self-defence, deemed the woman did not intend to kill the teen, even though medical examiner Dr. Sam Andrews testified that death as a result of such an act would have taken at least 2 1/2 minutes.
Idiot judge, check. Dead kid, check. Muslim murderer, check. Special treatment for the murderer, check. I don't want to hear one damned word out of any Canadian about how this represents 'justice'; it represents idiocy of a very high degree.

Engineer humor

What is the difference between mechanical engineers and civil engineers?

Mechanical engineers build weapons

Civil engineers build targets.

The graduate with a science degree asks, "Why does it work?"

The graduate with an engineering degree asks, "How does it work?"

The graduate with an accounting degree asks, "How much will it cost?"

The graduate with an arts degree asks, "Do you want fries with that?"

For some reason I don't get by Billy Beck's place very often,

and when I do I run into things like these two posts. First,
Back in February, Ithaca Police officers Tase and then shoot dead a "drug suspect" in a convenience store parking lot. This is an ugly case in Ithaca. All officers cleared of wrong in the matter. Some of the weed-level buzz among townies is that while the dead man was a known dealer, the operation was a goof: his van didn't start moving until they Tased him, which happened because it was in gear. Nobody is happy about any of this.

Early last Sunday morning, the house of one of the officers burns down. It's now ruled an arson
.
As the man says, this is not good; it's the kind of spark that can start a really nasty fire. And that's preceded by this one:
His Right arm went up in a defenseless position and it appeared his left arm appeared to be going up but there was NO gun in his hand. He was taserd and shot at the same time. At no time did the man in question ever raise his voice, shout an obscenity or become confrontational with the police. We saw the disabled man stooping to his right facing us with what appeared to be a bullet wound in his upper chest with blood coming from the wound and immediately his eyes became glossy as he began to convulse. At this point he was no threat to anyone, both hands were in full view of us and there was no gun. As he was down, the police continued to shout ‘put the gun down’ several times…but there was no gun in his hand as we had full vantage point view. The injured man was having agonal respirations, he was down when the second volly of bullets rang out.
...
An officer then came up to the injured man who in my opinion was a ‘dead’ man’, was cuffed with his hands behind his back and no attempt by the officer to determine if the man was alive or dead. No apparent life saving aid was given to the ‘downed’ man. The man was totally lifeless when the Paramedics arrived on scene. I was absolutely surprised to see that no attempt at aggressive ACLS was engaged. They simply just picked up the body like a ’sack of potatoes’ and hurled him onto the gurney and into the ambulance This was a crime scene…. the crime scene was violated
.
Apparently there are a number of witnesses with similar accounts, and LVPD is dismissing all of them. LVPD better damned well hope there's video of this incident AND that it backs up the officers; because if the officers are lying... then LVPD better clean house with a very aggressive broom or this'll be hanging over the whole agency for years to come. And rightly so.

I'd like your opinion: first,

go take a look at this. Short version: Obama is likely to take us to war with Iran because if Iran gets the bomb it'lll blow Obama's desire to build the whole world into a bit European Union. What particular part that troubles me about the article is this:
The consequences of the Iranian nuclear drive for the President’s Wilsonian project are deadly; the Iranian nuclear program can fairly be called an existential threat to the Wilsonian ideal. In particular a nuclear Iran will kill the two dreams at the heart of President Obama’s foreign policy and indeed of his view of the world: the dream that the genie of nuclear weapons can be forced back into the bottle and the dream that the nations of the world can build a post-Westphalian international order in which the world’s governments are bound by deepening networks of laws.

There are a lot of people in the foreign policy world who consider both of President Obama’s dreams to be hopelessly naive. The idea that the world’s nuclear powers would ever agree to give up these expensive and powerful weapons strikes many realists as laughable. There is a realist case (which I personally buy) for the President of the United States to advocate the abolition of nuclear weapons; the United States, with its overwhelming superiority in conventional weapons, would be safer and more powerful in a world without the big bomb. Conceivably, the UK could go along as that county might welcome a chance to save money while looking idealistic. Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Israel, North Korea and France won’t buy. Those countries have good reasons for their nuclear arsenals and they won’t give them up
.
Number one: that genie ain't going back into the bottle. Period. Thinking you can force it means you're willing to use the kind of force necessary to to prevent other countries from building nukes, and Obama isn't willing. He'll talk and plead and try to bribe, but he won't do that.

Second, if he actually believes that signing a treaty means "Nobody will ever build one again", actually believes it, then he's a bigger fool than I thought. We signed a big, serious treaty with the Soviet Union outlawing biological weapons and research on them for offensive purposes, and the Soviets were breaking it while the ink on the signatures was still drying. Including not only growing smallpox, but genetically modifying it to make it as virulent and lethal as possible. If the Soviets were doing that, what the hell makes him- anybody- think countries like Iran under its current government will obey any treaty or international law they don't like?

So if this guy's right, Obama will be willing to start the shooting with Iran because Iran getting the bomb will trash his dreams of World Government EU-style.

I wonder how many other peoples' lives he's willing to throw away for that dream?

Oh, Tony Blair?

Screw you, you backstabbing little socialist bastard.

So, Ben Jealous pushed a resolution calling everyone in or connected to the tea party movement

racists; then crawfished really hard claiming "That's not what we actually said!", and now he's doubling-down on calling us racists.

Jealous, you're a lying, slandering sack of crap.

Insty has this thought on Kagan:

I think that Republicans shouldn’t make a fight of it, as whoever is next would be worse.

As I recall, a bunch of people said the same thing about Cass Sunstein: "If you stop his appointment, the next one will be worse!"

Uh, just how much worse could someone else be?

Sometimes even people who aren't fond of guns

like something as part of a getup. Went to a friend's birthday party last night; he wanted a speakeasy, 1920's theme. So, (yes, as of a year or so ago I have one) put on the tuxedo, tophat, Grandpa's walking stick and- as one should be properly attired and accoutered when attending such an event- put the 1911 airsoft in the shoulder rig. This one isn't balanced the same but weighs about the same as a real one(empty), so put a real loaded mag in the spare holder to balance it out.

Looking in a mirror, to me it was obvious there was something there, but until I showed it to the birthday boy nobody noticed it. He thought it was great, the only problem coming from one lady:
"That's not real, is it?"
"No."
"It's not REAL, is it?"
"No, it's plastic."
"It's NOT real?"
"No, it's an airsoft."
Also, it being warm, walking around with no jacket and the shoulder rig elicited no comment at all, other than "He's our enforcer."

And a good time was had by all.

Well, Kevin Calvey has at least one good thing going for him:

A congressional candidate has refused a campaign donation from the executive director of an Islamic-American association, saying the group has ties to terrorist groups.

Kevin Calvey, a candidate for the 5th Congressional District seat, said Wednesday he refused a $25 online donation from Razi Hashim, the executive director of the Oklahoma chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR.
...
Calvey, an attorney who helped prosecute terrorism suspects in the Iraqi court system, said he had no problem with the Muslim faith, but he could not support the council.

"I worked alongside Muslims every day who were fighting against terrorism," Calvey said.

Calvey said he would have no problem meeting with members of the council, if they left the organization.

"I haven't met with them, nor will I," Calvey said. "CAIR is the moral equivalent of the Ku Klux Klan. I wouldn't meet with them either."..
.

Having come in to try to dry off-

you could damn near poach in your own body fluids out there- I checked over at Uncles' and found this. Which kind of started the sweat flowing again.
Weinstein said he agreed to surrender his Colt semi-automatic .25-caliber pistol and his Wesson .357 revolver, along with ammunition and holsters, for safekeeping after authorities insisted on it.
...
Mila Schwartzreich, assistant legal counsel for the Sheriff's Office, said her agency has no choice but to keep Weinstein's weapons. She said the Sheriff's Office is not objecting to returning the guns, but needs a court order first.

"Legally, we're bound to hold them until then," she said. "It's not that Mr. Weinstein is a bad person or we feel people shouldn't possess firearms. For him, it was a distressing time."

Well, God-DAMN, Ms. Schwartzreich, you didn't need a court order to pressure him into surrendering his arms, but you have to have one to give him his property back?

I'll start this with a bigoted Representative named Sheila Jackson Lee

doubling-down on the NAACP calling the tea parties racist:
Might I add my own P.S.? All those who wore sheets a long time ago have now lifted them off and started wearing [applause], uh, clothing, uh, with a name, say, I am part of the tea party. Don’t you be fooled.
Oh, we're not; we know exactly what kind of RWPP you are, you and those other clowns who've decided to smear a massive piece of the country in the name of trying to push a racist and socialist agenda. Screw you, Lee.

On the subject of socialist/progressive dirtbags, this time in a good context,
A judge had resentenced a 70-year-old civil rights lawyer to 10 years in prison for letting a jailed Egyptian sheik communicate with his radical followers.

Federal Judge John Koeltl sentenced Lynne Stewart in Manhattan after she pleaded with him to reimpose the two-year, four-month sentence he had originally given her in 2006. She said she has been diminished since her November imprisonment.

An appeals court had ordered a new sentencing, saying the judge needed to consider whether she committed perjury. Koeltl says she did and he says she lacked remorse after her first sentencing.
Well, hell, I hope she IS 'diminished'; she's a bleeping traitor and liar and oathbreaker. Actually having to pay the price is a bitch, isn't it, Stewart?

Confederate Yankee beats Think Progress about the head and shoulders with the truth.
Think Progress misrepresented everything this video and the Tea Party stands for, and against.

If staffers, including editor-in-chief Faiz Shakir should not be terminated for this behavior, I'd like to know why
.
Probably won't be; probably because they're a bunch of progressive dirtbags who don't seem to care much about things like 'truth'.

Should somebody actually conservative/libertarian run against Brown? I'd say yes. Besides having helped Dodd and Frank screw us further, just because he has an 'R' after his name should NOT be reason to let him be unopposed; that kind of thinking helped get us in this mess.

"No, we didn't actually call all you crackers racist, you just don't understand what we say(you bigots)."
The resolution, scheduled for a vote as early as Tuesday by delegates attending the annual NAACP convention in Kansas City, calls upon “all people of good will to repudiate the racism of the Tea Parties, and to stand in opposition to its drive to push our country back to the pre-civil rights era.”
Jealous, you're a damned liar as well as a bigot. Screw you.

"We LOVE diversity in our students. As long as it's the correct kind of diversity."
But what Espenshade and Radford found in regard to what they call "career-oriented activities" was truly shocking even to this hardened veteran of the campus ideological and cultural wars. Participation in such Red State activities as high school ROTC, 4-H clubs, or the Future Farmers of America was found to reduce very substantially a student's chances of gaining admission to the competitive private colleges in the NSCE database on an all-other-things-considered basis. The admissions disadvantage was greatest for those in leadership positions in these activities or those winning honors and awards. "Being an officer or winning awards" for such career-oriented activities as junior ROTC, 4-H, or Future Farmers of America, say Espenshade and Radford, "has a significantly negative association with admission outcomes at highly selective institutions." Excelling in these activities "is associated with 60 or 65 percent lower odds of admission."

Question is not "Would Putin have a problem doing this?", because that's not in doubt; question is "Is there anything to this?"

Another hot day in store, so I'm going to try to get the outside stuff done before the worst builds up. Plus there's only so much of this crap I can write about at one time.

Once more, the National Socialist Democrats,

with the help of a few RINOs, ram through a bill that they don't know what all's in it. And of what we DO know, they should be horsewhipped for passing it. Every damned one of them.

So there's also confirmation of bias at the FEC

from a former FEC commissioner... This is going to get even more messy than it already is.

And yet more evidence that Richard the Turd Daley

has truly earned that name.
I would note that there is 5 pages of forms to fill out in order to legally register a firearm, and also with that five hours of training. They’ll also fingerprint you at the time of the application. I would also note they only appear to be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30pm each day. Good luck getting your permit if you have a job. Better luck if you’re poor and can’t afford to take a day off. Daley is a snake.

UPDATE From the comments:

Also note that currently the permit requires the license number of the State certified instructor. That particular ‘license’ from the IL Dept of Professional Regulation (DPR) has no number, so the form cannot be completed even if one has the requisite training from a certified instructor.

Maybe he should have a follow-on title, something like 'Enricher of Lawyers, Depleter of the Public Purse' and such.

From the look of this, the Toronto Police Department

makes Officer Fife look like a dedicated professional with much better ethics.
"As downtown Toronto witnessed burning police cars and a small group of thugs on a rampage, a police source tells me the only thing that stopped the officers (from moving in and arresting the vandals)... was an order telling them not to," Toronto Sun columnist Joe Warmington wrote June 30. "The officer said that eventually there was a clear order from the command centre saying 'Do not engage.' "
...
Continues Sa: "At the Eastern Avenue detention centre, Taylor describes a scene out of a horror film: 'Rows of cages with people bleeding, crying, slumped on the concrete floor. Huddled, asking to call family, asking for water, asking what the charge is, wanting to know their rights. All the officers were ignoring them -- or laughing.' As many as 40 men or women were crammed per cage in freezing, filthy conditions, without room to lie down on the concrete floor... Several officers laughed at one girl crying for her overdue medication. Taylor begged for water for nine hours and eventually passed out... When detained women begged for pads or tampons, male guards laughed and said: 'That explains your attitudes.' The next day, Taylor and most of the others were released without charge."
These bastards definitely belong in the "Should never be allowed to wear a badge" category.

Ok, one more political whore for the evening: Sen. Arlen Specter

Sources tell ABC News that Sen. Arlen Specter, Miserable Backstabbing Treacherous ShitD-Penn., has informed the White House that he would like to consider remaining in public service after his senate term ends at the end of this session, and White House officials are keeping an open mind about possible job openings for him.

...Talk of such a job, however, has raised eyebrows among Specter’s Republican Senate colleagues who are now eyeing his votes with added scrutiny. For instance, Specter seemed not particularly impressed with Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan, whose nomination as Solicitor General Specter opposed last year. This week he announced support for her Supreme Court nomination.

He really IS a sorry little whore, isn't he?
