The University of Northern Colorado (UNCO) has decided it’s time to prohibit "Bias Motivated Incidents." When you hear about a “bias motivated incident,” maybe you’re thinking about a cross burning, or something of that nature. But at UNCO the “bias motivated incident” could simply be an "inappropriate joke" that is motivated by some form of bias.
The UNCO policy also says that “Any discriminatory act is a violation of the Housing & Residence Life Student Code of Conduct.” Well, what do they mean by “any discriminatory act”? According to the UNCO handbook this includes, but is not limited to, “racism, ageism, sexism, and/or homophobia.” And (get ready for this!) included in the definition is “intentionally, recklessly or negligently causing physical, emotional, or mental harm to any person.”
Got that? All anybody has to do to shut you up and get you in trouble is be ''emotionally harmed' by something you say. Or you 'disturb their mental peace' or some other idiot complaint.

Had been invited to a birthday party, and as the honoree had made it known that dressing would not be amiss, I wore kilt; the whole five yards.* Just before I left(good evening) I showed a friend my dirk, as I recalled she'd never seen any of my work. She and her husband are both nice people, but after she looked it over she kind of frowned and said "You need to put it on a grinder or something and... make it dull."
I'll admit I was nonplussed. "But then it won't cut well."
"But it will be safer!"
"No, because then you have to force it to make it cut."
After I sheathed it, showed her my sgian dhu, and basically same thing: "It's too sharp!" Including the comment that them being sharp made her a bit nervous, "I'm a peaceable girl."
Which left me standing there for a moment wonder what the hell being peaceable has to do with sharp tools?

So what's Dept. of homeland Security been doing that it shouldn't
that we don't know about?
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security conducted a threat assessment of local pro- and anti-abortion rights activists before an expected rally last year, even though they did not pose a threat to national security.
The DHS destroyed or deleted its copies of the assessment after an internal review found it violated intelligence-gathering guidelines by collecting and sharing information about "protest groups which posed no threat to homeland security," according to a department memo written last year.
Bunch of asshole bureaucrats with lots of power and not enough- not nearly enough- ethics and "This is NOT our job" sense.
Oh, and the police department that this was shared with?
After The New York Times reported on its contents in December, a lawyer representing anti-abortion activists who attended the rally asked Middleton police to release a copy of the assessment under Wisconsin's open records law.
In the department's Feb. 4 response, Capt. Noel Kakuske confirmed the department kept a copy of the report but declined to release it. He said the Wisconsin Department of Justice, which runs the intelligence center, and the Department of Homeland Security agreed the report should be withheld because it contains sensitive law enforcement information.
Well, isn't that just wonderful and convenient? DHS 'destroyed'* the report but the PD kept it. And now, well, "We can't let you see it. Because you're just peasants, not Only Ones. And you can't make us. So there."
Which will last until the lawsuits start, at least.
"It's very disturbing that a local police department has tapped into the security apparatus of the federal government to potentially obstruct free speech," she said. "It's additionally disconcerting they will not release the documents in order for we the public to examine them."
You folks need to deal with the idiots in our police department. And we need to yell at our congresscritters about the dirtbags at DHS who did this.

Kit Bond, R-Mo., and Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Mich."I explained to them that he was in FBI custody, that Mr. Abdulmutallab was, in fact, talking, that he was cooperating at that point," Brennan said. "They knew that 'in FBI custody' means that there's a process then you follow as far as Mirandizing and presenting him in front of a magistrate. None of those individuals raised any concerns with me at that point. They didn't say, 'Is he going into military custody?' 'Is he going to be Mirandized?'"
So according to Brennan, a courtesy call on Christmas night is the one and only chance these four had to speak up. It was incumbent upon them to realize that 'FBI custody' meant 'Full legal rights' and that since they didn't instantly make that connection, they just need to shut the hell up now and forever.
Aside from the ridiculousness of that theory, it's just plain wrong. Writing at The Corner, Marc Thiessen demonstrates there was no reason for anyone to believe "FBI custody" automatically meant full Miranda rights because the Obama administration said it wouldn't.
just a few months earlier, the Obama administration announced that its new FBI-led “High-Value Interrogation Group” (HIG) would not necessarily Mirandize suspects it was questioning.Etc.

I wonder if a lot of the people out there making excuses for these bastards will understand, before it's too late, that they really do mean annihilate.
What this boils down to is Sen. Schumer(Camera-Chasing Hypocrite-NY) has gotten enough heat to know people are pissed, and Obama basically cannot see how any such idea he likes and pushes could possible be a bad idea("The people will come around and see what a brilliant gem has fallen from my fertile mind", etc.), or seen as one.

So the IPCC is even more full of crap than thought
(wouldn't have thought it possible, myself) and so is the UN head(very possible):

The most important is a claim that global warming could cut rain-fed north African crop production by up to 50% by 2020, a remarkably short time for such a dramatic change. The claim has been quoted in speeches by Rajendra Pachauri, the IPCC chairman, and by Ban Ki-moon, the UN secretary-general.
There is however one teensy-weensy little problem. As Professor Chris Field, the lead author of the IPCC’s climate impact team has now told reporters that he can find “no evidence” to support the claim in the IPCC’s 2007 report.
Now, that's pretty bad; their own people can find 'no evidence'?
(yeah, you know what's coming)
But wait! There's more!!
When the glacier story broke, IPCC apologists returned over and over again to a saving grace. The bogus glacier report appeared in the body of the IPCC document, but not in the much more carefully vetted Synthesis Report, in which the IPCC’s senior leadership made its specific recommendations to world leaders. So it didn’t matter that much, the apologists told us, and we can still trust the rigorously checked and reviewed Synthesis Report.
But that’s where the African rain crisis prediction is found — in the supposedly sacrosanct Synthesis Report.
So: the Synthesis Report contains a major scare prediction — 50% shortfall in North African food production just ten years from now — and there is no serious, peer-reviewed evidence that the prediction is true.
And MORE!!!
A prediction about the impact of sea level increases on people living in the Nile Delta was taken from an unpublished student dissertation.

None of this is to say that global warming isn't real, or that human activity doesn't play a role, or that the IPCC is entirely wrong, or that measures to curb greenhouse-gas emissions aren't valid. But the strategy pursued by activists (including scientists who have crossed the line into advocacy) has turned out to be fatally flawed.

He is a staunch believer in man-made climate change, but he also points out the complexity of climate science. “Science grows and improves in the light of criticism. How much the public will keep caring is another matter.
One of the reasons a lot of people screamed so much about the AGW bullcrap was precisely this: the damage it was doing and would do to science: when anyone who doubts a theory is insulted and treated like a Holocause denier, that's got nothing to do with science, it's advocacy of the dirtiest kind. And all the "The science is SETTLED! The consensus has SPOKEN!!" bullshit just made it worse.
And let's not forget damage to the major media weenies; lots of people are taking notice that, just like with Obama, the media didn't do their damned job:
Nothing prevented Ms. O'Neil from taking a firsthand look at the IPCC report herself. She, like me, could have typed "WWF" (which stands for the activist group, the World Wildlife Fund) into a search box and found the 16 distinct WWF citations in the IPCC's 2007 report. Within a few minutes she could also have found the eight Greenpeace papers listed...
Instead, Ms. O'Neill - who has 25 years experience as a journalist - was utterly bamboozled by the PR machine which is the IPCC. She fell for their slick mirage. And then she passed it along to her viewers and readers.
As Steyn points out it was Laframboise, a lowly blogger, who dug up the above while the major media weenies didn't bother to do anything but treat IPCC press releases as confirmed fact; but we're supposed to trust in a believe every word the poodles like O'Neill throw out. Actually, I guess it's their credibility they threw out...
Oh, I like this idea. Howzabout a 0 dollar bill with Washington saying "Here's your payoff, you corrupt bastard"? There's a bunch of people on ALL levels of government who should receive those.
I like the title Althouse used: Sarah Palin was a blithering idiot until she became a devious genius. I'll throw in two things:
She could decide to never run for office again, and she'll still have helped make a big change in things.
There's an awful lot of people out there trying to figure out either why everybody else doesn't hate her, and some thinking "How the hell did I misjudge this so bad?"
...Besides, he said, almost everyone was on some sort of pension, disability, or government benefit, and was unwilling to work, so his choices were either illegal immigrants or broke foreign students. Then he launched into a blast against socialism, and explained how he was forced to become an expert tax dodger, how he would barter for all the transactions he could, and why he hated the government. He finished by sighing that in Greece, the people spend their time either devising ways to get government money or scheming to avoid the tax collectors — or, preferably, both.
Greece, not Chicago or some other place here. Unfortunately, sounds like a lot of places here, doesn't it?

Gita Sahgal, head of the gender unit at Amnesty’s international secretariat, believes that collaborating with Moazzam Begg, a former British inmate at Guantanamo Bay, “fundamentally damages” the organisation’s reputation.
In an email sent to Amnesty’s top bosses, she suggests the charity has mistakenly allied itself with Begg and his “jihadi” group, Cageprisoners, out of fear of being branded racist and Islamophobic.
Sahgal describes Begg as “Britain’s most famous supporter of the Taliban”. He has championed the rights of jailed Al-Qaeda members and hate preachers, including Anwar al-Awlaki, the alleged spiritual mentor of the Christmas Day Detroit plane bomber.
