Lots of first-time gun buyers, and as a bonus

Place I work part-time, LOTS of first-time and  "I had a gun years ago and sold it/gave it away, but now I need one" buyers.  And the beginners classes and CCW classes, and the guys who do private lessons, are slammed.  Which means not only "I want a gun" but " and I need to know how to use it."

Lots of politicians are crapping their diapers over this.  Both because of the sales and training jumps, and because all those new buyers(in some states) are finding out just how stupid the laws are and- the big one- they're not likely to take it quietly when the anti-rights people tell them "You cannot be allowed to own this."  Plus one more feed-in:

That so many people in so many places are putting up with it is awful.

It's Friday night, and after the Weather Service provided such an example of fail this morning

(last night: 'hot & humid tomorrow'; morning: '60% chance of rain before ten'; at ten: 'Storms, some possibly severe, through 1pm', etc.), followed by a, let's say 'interesting' day at work,  something is needed to cheer the mood.

Actual free speech is always under attack from someone, and some of them are idiots who don't think their 'protect the historically victimized from damage to their feelings!' crap can ever turn around and bite their ass off.

While it could be argued by the bill’s sponsors that the measure is aimed at high-profile desktop milling machines like the Ghost Gunner and similar devices, it should be pointed out that there are dozens of different brands of hobbyist-level mini CNC machines for sale both online and at hardware outlet chains such as Harbor Freight that can be used in an array of metal and polymer fabrication work to include producing firearm frames or receivers. This suggests the bill’s sponsors may not be aware of what they are trying to accomplish, or, worse, are being coy with the scope of the legislation.
Ignorance is quite possible, but I'd believe the latter: they really don't want people to understand just what all this would cover.  Like your drill press, your lathe, that mill you bought to mess with, or any of these that you use in your business.

Think of all the new jobs created!  All the federal inspectors needed to go through every business, every garage and shop building to see if you have an illegal/unlicensed* gun-making machine!  You don't like this idea?  Why do you hate creating jobs?

The best response to this, I still think, would involve some politicians decorating lampposts and cherry trees, but I doubt we'll get that.


*Oh yes, assuming they haven't already planned this, there will be licenses involved("If you care about your community, you won't mind having to be inspected and pay for a license and put up with regular inspections to make sure you're not doing something bad!"), both for control and for the money.

First try at subsonic .223

Hodgdon reloading page shows 4.0 of Trailboss giving about 1074fps.  That being listed as a max load, a not wanting to wind up with a bullet stuck in the bore, I dropped it to 3.9 and tried five.  All went 'bang' appropriately, HUGELY less loud than standard .223, and made nice round holes in the target.  I wasn't able to set up the Chrony so don't know what actual velocity was.

I need to do two things: run this over the Chrony, and through a suppressor and see what it winds up as.
