Gentleman named Orr has been passing some news stuff from Europe to me,

one of which is a mention of "Oh, our son went into Ceuta and we don't know what happened to him!"  His part in an invasion of Spanish territory getting, of course, little mention.  Which brought up the question of "How much crime is not being mentioned in the media because it was committed by muslims who invaded, and most news media won't talk about it?"

Well, considering all the crap that's happened in mainland Europe that the EUnuchs don't want to/won't talk about...

Which brings us to the latest exhibition of idiocy by Swedes:
Major scandal in Sweden after it turns out that MPs from the Left Party (used to have “The Communists”’in their party name until 1989) have been writing letters of encouragement to Palestinian terrorists who mass-murdered Israeli civilians.

Expressen reveals that several Members of Parliament have written letters to terrorists.
I'd bet the explanation involves something like 'But intersectionality says they're the REAL victims!'


If you looked up the mess with the fantasist Arday at Cambridge, you'll not be surprised by this:

He fit all the DEI "He's a miracle!" crap, so the school fell right into it.  Which makes them look like the idiots they are.  Which brings me to this post:
The more revealing part came when people pointed out that a century-old organization claiming to defend academic freedom for all professors might lose something by becoming an electoral participant in one party’s primary.

Wolfson’s response on X was: “Apparently our first endorsement has upset some people. Good.” He added, “AAUP isn’t going to respond by pretending politics isn’t happening. We’re going to organize.”

In another, now-deleted post, he called the critics “clowns” while straw-manning their arguments against the move.

The deeper objection to this move, though, is actually practical. Suppose you are a professor who opposed El-Sayed, or simply does not share the AAUP’s politics, and your academic freedom is violated. Are you really going to bring your case to the organization that has declared itself a left-wing political union and endorsed the candidate you opposed? More likely, you will go to FIRE or the Academic Freedom Alliance, or look to Heterodox Academy for support.

And the damage compounds. Once the AAUP behaves like a left-wing political organization, it attracts more people who want exactly that while driving away moderates, conservatives, libertarians, and anyone else who does not want an academic-freedom organization doubling as a political faction. The membership becomes still more homogeneous in the process. Internal objections get weaker. The next partisan step seems even more obvious.

That is how an organization becomes trapped inside its own box and then mistakes the view from inside for reality.
"WE are on the Right Side of History, WE say so, and anyone who disagrees is obviously a fascist/nazi/fill in the blank with the current favorite insult!"  Which is exactly what got Cambridge into looking like the idiots running the place are truly idiots.

Ah, Academia and 'Higher' Education, who knows how much damage they've done?
