Obviously this story really isn't possible, since Britain has the kind of gun laws

that the Brady Bunch wants over here.

And what the hell is a "shotgun-type weapon"?

The link is broken, but they were probably talking about a zip gun made to shoot shotgun shells.

Two pieces of pipe: A small one open on both ends that a shotgun shell will seat into, a large one capped at one end that slides over the small one.

Put a pointy screw through the center of the cap so it sticks into the large pipe, pop a shotgun shell into the small pipe, put the large pipe over the small one and smack them together to make it go bang.

Simple, cheap, very effective and anyone can make one with parts found at any hardware store, a drill and a screwdriver.

The BBC had a headline saying the bloke has declared war on cops. I tried to follow it, but the link wouldn't connect.

The guy doesn't seem particularly bright, probably hasn't done much planning or specific targetting, and from his build, he's probably got a steroid fueled temper problem too.

All would tend to suggest that he won't last long - not that that will be much consolation to anyone he does stumble into, or to their families and friends.

Even so, I bet the burglers and petty crimminals are having a field day while the cops keep a low profile.

Sailorcurt made a comment about the weapon, but for some reason it's not showing up, so I'll add it here:

First article is gone, now the one you read is gone already; that's interesting.

As to how long he'll last, depends in part on how the cops act: like cops after a bad guy, or like petty bureaucrats(like the ones chasing the mass-shooter a couple of weeks ago). If the former, they should get him soon; if the latter...

Thursday morning:
They still don't seem to have got him.

Armoured landrovers from northern ireland, armed response teams from London, and all they've found is the tent he'd slept in for a few nights, and a couple of guys they thought were "hostages".

At least no one has been shot since his first three.

They'd have been well screwed if it was someone who'd laid plans and knew what he was doing, and they'd be completely screwed if there were half a dozen of them, all in different parts of the country.

I hope they don't whack him before a court gets to hear his claims of the cops hunting him for years.
