On October 21, UNESCO (the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) declared that Rachel’s Tomb near Jerusalem is the Bilal ibn Rabah mosque
Rachel’s Tomb is located on the northern outskirts of Bethlehem some 460 meters south of Jerusalem’s municipal boundary. The site has been identified for over 1,700 years as the grave of the Jewish matriarch Rachel. The copious literature of Jewish, Christian and Muslim pilgrims identifies and documents the spot as the place where Rachel is buried.
Yeah, I remember. I remember seeing video from the couple of days before, people on the west side going at it with hammers and picks and rocks. I remember a guy riding a frickin' bicycle on the top, and all the East German border guards would do at that point was spray a hose at him; not long before they'd have killed him. And then the first gate was opened and from there it was unstoppable. If he'd never done anything else, I'd say God bless Ronald Reagan for his part in this. I remember that speech; lots of Democrats and liberals and Europeans wetting their pants over it, calling him names over it. Fuck 'em all, he was right.
Ref the court challenges to Obamacare, this is interesting:
The interesting thing about the bill is that it apparently doesn't contain a severability clause, which usually states "notwithstanding any provision of this act being found unconstitutional, the rest of the act shall continue to be in force."
I didn't realize they still wrote laws without that clause. But apparently they did write ObamaCare without that, which means it operates by the old-fashioned default rule that if any part of a law is found to be unconstitutional, the entire law is unconstitutional. (If any one knows, please tell me why you figure they didn't include this provision.)
Of course, this means that if the mandate is found unconstitutional, it's not just that provision that is nullified, but the whole kit and kaboodle.
Oh please. Oh yes. Obama & Co. would flat blow brain cells out their ears. And you know what? It'd be their own damned fault: they were so busy trying to shove this piece of shit through that they didn't even know what all was in it AND WHAT WASN'T.
