with kids paying the price.
African Americans received a “bonus” of 230 points, Lee says.
She points to the second column.
“Hispanics received a bonus of 185 points.”
The last column draws gasps.
Asian Americans, Lee says, are penalized by 50 points — in other words, they had to do that much better to win admission.
Let's talk about the price of this bullshit:
Black kids especially, hispanic a bit less so, being raised with the 'education' system telling them they can't be expected to meet the same standards as those disgusting white and oriental kids, so "We have to give you easier stuff, we have to make it easier for you to pretend you're actually learning stuff."
They grow up with this, and a lot of them will flatly believe it; either 'the White Man won't let me get ahead' or 'We're black, you can't expect us to learn this stuff!'. With a large dose of 'Those Asian kids suck, they're smart and have to be held back.' Which all comes together to poison their lives.
Some will have parents who don't buy it and won't let them buy it, some will see it as the bullshit it is, and the rest will have their lives damaged, possibly forever, by it.
But it's ok, because it's all in the name of Holy Diversity! And a 'proper' balance of skin colors on campus is far more important.
May have been Thomas Sowell a while back who pointed out that black kids in Jim Crow days, facing actual segregated schools and nasty institutionalized racism, who were expected by their parents to learn, no excuses, often came out of (often badly-equipped and underfunded)high schools with a better education than they get now. A lot of 'liberals' decided it was mean to expect those poor negro kids to learn at the same rates as white kids, so "We have to Help Them!", and it's been downhill into the ditch ever since.
But if you insist all kids and all schools and all TEACHERS be held to the same standards, no bullshit "But these kids are 'X', and need a break!", YOU'RE a racist...

The diversity they seek is a sort of M&M's diversity. A rainbow of colors outside, same pernicious statist flavors inside.
Wasn't this difference in scores the thing that bake sale was addressing a number of years ago where the price varied according to the color and sex of the purchaser? The student organization that did that caught holy hell from the campus race-baiters, but here it is openly admitted.
And isn't it interesting that these special standards and racist concepts like what is called "bilingual education" only came about when blacks and Hispanics wanted an equal shot at the economic pie? I don't recall any
such programs when the Germans or the Italians or the Hungarians or the various groups from Russia were emigrating in such huge numbers. For them it was "You're in America now, speak English! Are these black and Hispanic children too stupid compared to the Slavs who came a century ago and were one of the targets of Margaret Sanger's racist population control ideas?
That article pointed to another LA Times headline that I really like: "China complains SAT may impose American values on its best students." Yes!
