on your way out. Why don't you just leave now, you bastard, and save yourself the stress of even hearing 'President Palin'?
You know, I told a friend I'm at the point of wanting to hear those two words together officially just to watch various peoples' heads explode; if clowns like Lopez actually WOULD leave, that'd be the icing on the cake.

And in news from the animal rights/vegan moron front,
The former frontman of the Smiths, who is a staunch vegan and animal rights campaigner, drew the comparisons at a concert in Warsaw, Poland, on Sunday where he is currently in the middle of his summer tour.
Before singing Meat is Murder, the 52-year-old British musician told the crowd: “We all live in a murderous world, as the events in Norway have shown, with 97 dead [sic].
"Though that is nothing compared to what happens in McDonald’s and Kentucky Fried s--- every day.”
...
This is not the first time Morrissey has courted controversy. In September last year he was accused of racism after describing the Chinese as a "subspecies". He said he made the comment in relation to what he described as the nation's poor treatment of animals.
Earlier this year the singer also said killing a stag is the same as killing a child and in 2006 he refused to tour Canada in protest at seal hunting.

Meanwhile, across the pond,
Islamic extremists have launched a poster campaign across the UK proclaiming areas where Sharia law enforcement zones have been set up.
Communities have been bombarded with the posters, which read: ‘You are entering a Sharia-controlled zone – Islamic rules enforced.’
The bright yellow messages daubed on bus stops and street lamps have already been seen across certain boroughs in London and order that in the ‘zone’ there should be ‘no gambling’, ‘no music or concerts’, ‘no porn or prostitution’, ‘no drugs or smoking’ and ‘no alcohol’.
...
The former lawyer added: ‘This will mean this is an area where the Muslim community will not tolerate drugs, alcohol, pornography, gambling, usury, free mixing between the sexes – the fruits if you like of Western civilisation.
Directly connected:
Ministers have abandoned an inquiry into the rise of secretive Sharia councils that deal in Islamic justice – because the Muslim courts refused to help.
The failure of the Ministry of Justice probe has generated new fears among politicians and pressure groups about the increasing influence of Sharia courts.
They are worried the courts' decisions may run against the law of the land, particularly in divorce settlements for women.
A: well, duh. B: That's the BIG reason this bothers you? Really?

Maybe I'm the only person who feels this way
but I normally feel like I'm just a little kid occupying a grown up's body.
Well, I don't know about 'normally', but I definitely know the feeling

"Dammit, I want every seat checked,
I don't care if the bus is on fire!"
Damn. Put the man on leave and order him not to stop till he gets- no, that wouldn't work, would it?

A bit of the early history of John Browning
at TTAG.
Some of the various screaming/insulting/hatred directed at Palin and Bachmann- and pretty much any other woman who won't follow the Evil Party/'feminist' line reminded me of something from The Truth:
No one said: Character assassination. What a wonderful idea. Ordinary assassination only works once, but this one works every day.
Yes, Virginia, the cops should have been more careful about this. And the musicians should damn well have known better. Wonder if there'll be any actual legal action like there would be for George down the street if he did something similar?
But Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid objected, even though the vote would occur on his own bill. He instead said the chamber would have to run out the full procedural clock, which means a vote in the early hours Sunday morning.
He said he would be willing to move up the vote if Republicans didn't insist on a 60-vote threshold, which has become traditional for big, controversial items to pass the Senate. But the GOP held firm on that demand, so Mr. Reid said he would insist on the full process, which he said would show the country that Republicans were being obstructionist.
"There is now another filibuster. That's what this is. It's a filibuster to stop us from moving forward," he said.
Given: a bunch of the politicians in both parties(who need an introduction to tar & feathers, and in some cases a rope) are far too busy scratching each others backs to care what actually happens to the country. Also given at this point: Reid is one of those who I'm thinking deserves the rope. Or a whipping post, at least. Hey, Reid, the Evil Party had it all: House, Senate and Oval Office for two years; where's the budget you clowns submitted? Oh, that's right, you didn't.
Ok, people, so if you don't want the nasty people cutting down some trees, let the natural fires run their course. Oh, but most of you don't want that, either.
I've had a bunch of people accuse me of 'ignoring the Science!' of AGW; but they really don't like to see things like this:
Related: remember the scientist who warned of masses of polar bears drowning because all the ice was going away, etc.? Slight problems with that: he's been suspended unrelated to Monnett’s scientific work and instead a result of new information on a separate subject recently brought to light, but in the transcript(here) it would seem that at the least his methodology in that study is being looked at, hard.
We're fighting chimps. Deadly, murderous chimps. But chimps.
And, totally unrelated to news, I remembered to print out a target for the current e-postal match and take it last range trip:

S&W K38 Target Masterpiece, 148-grain wadcutters, ten yards. Damn, I love that pistol, sometimes it even lets me shoot well.

Insert blonde joke here....
The Hope Diamond of fender benders unfolded yesterday in possibly the most conspicuous stretch of asphalt in the .75-square-mile principality — the round-about in front of the James Bond-worthy casino — when three blondes in a jelly-bean blue Bentley Azure ($363,000) scraped the rear of a white Mercedes-Benz S-Class (a paltry $91,000). And that was merely the appetizer.
Served up for the main course were a hapless black Ferrari F430 ($186,000), which was hit nose-first by the 2.7-ton Bentley. Then, like two tankers mashing in the fog, a four-door Aston Martin Rapide ($228,000) crunched into the Azure’s passenger door. The cherry on this metal, plastic and carbon-fiber shattering souffle: a stray Porsche 911 ($77,000).

Dirtbags and politicians and clowns, next edition
Officer Harless has needed his attitude adjusted for a long time, it appears. And if these two incidents are both on video, makes you wonder what he and/or his partner have been involved in that somehow managed to escape recording.
Also at SiH, the kind of idiot politician who should be fired immediately and banned from every holding public office again:
The bill’s sponsors freely admit that it’s completely unconstitutional, but they just want to do something about those perverts who take pictures in public places where minors run around freely...
When it gets the point where I can go through the galleries of scrapbooking sites to find moms who have pictures of their children posted with other minors in the background and declare that in New Jersey, they could face five years in prison if lawmakers get their way, something has gone terribly wrong in our society.
Speaking of God-damned politicians who just can't resist any try at controlling us and watching what we're doing,
Despite serious privacy concerns being voiced by both Democratic and Republican leaders and by thousands of digital rights activists using EFF's Action Center, this afternoon the House Judiciary Committee voted 19 to 10 to recommend passage of H.R. 1981. That bill contains a mandatory data retention provision that would require your Internet service providers to retain 12 months' worth of personal information that could be used to identify what web sites you visit and what content you post online. EFF had previously joined with 29 other civil liberties and consumer privacy groups in signing a letter to the Committee members that condemned the bill as a "direct assault on the privacy of Internet users."
DAMN these people; I'm so freakin' sick of them...
I note that, in several bits I heard on the news earlier, a lot of major media weenies and leftists(sort of duplication there) are noting that a lot of the conservative/libertarian types who won seats in the last election really don't care if they're reelected in the next; that they're here to stand for certain things and they're doing it. That just seems to scare the shit out of the media and a bunch of Democrat politicians.
Well, it seems various 'anti-war' groups who were real friendly to Abdo when he was a 'conscientious objector' are trying to cover their tracks now that he's been caught planning mass-murder and in possession of child porn.
Note: if you join the military when it's involved in combat in a couple of muslim nations and THEN decide 'fighting other muslims is forbidden', you're either a fucking moron or were planning on making a show of your objections later on.
Sen. Tester, you ought to make sure of who you're accusing of things; and it's really better if you do that BEFORE you open your big mouth.

On to Gunwalker:
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) said on a conference call Wednesday evening that he will try to get a White House official who may have had knowledge of the botched Fast and Furious gunrunning operation to testify before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
But Issa, who chairs the committee, was not optimistic about the effort. “Try? Yes,” he said, asked whether he would try to get the official into his committee room. But Issa noted that there has been “political interference at the highest level” throughout the Oversight committee’s Fast and Furious investigation.
The White House official in question is National Security Director for North America Kevin O’Reilly. During a Tuesday Oversight hearing on Fast and Furious, former ATF Special Agent Bill Newell, who was instrumental in implementing the operation, said that he had spoken with O’Reilly about Fast and Furious as early as September 2010. Whether O’Reilly was made aware that the ATF had let guns cross the border into Mexico as part of the investigation was not clear.
and
Newell sent O'Reilly the requested information with the caveat, "You didn't get this from me."
Why was a National Security Council staffer asking about an operation that no one in the upper echelons of the administration was supposed to be aware of? We find it hard to believe it was for O'Reilly's personal amusement. Why would Newell request that he not be acknowledged as the source?
Certainly the whole area of drug cartels, cross-border violence and gun trafficking are matters of national security. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has made a cause celebre of blaming the easy access to U.S. weapons for Mexican violence.
Are we to believe neither the White House nor the Department of Justice knew about a program that made that access even easier?
Couple of times I've received comments that links to Sipsey Street could not be looked at by some people in some places; both the above links were found there, but I used the direct article links. If you can go there, remember Sipsey Street is one of the places that helped blow Gunwalker from some bitching by ticked-off/scared to death agents into the serious investigation it's become; the other is David Codrea at the Examiner.
Among the reasons Captain America was good:
Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter: smart, very decorative, and downright nervy when things are going bad

A light from Crimson Trace that fits onto the pistol rail and is actuated by the same kind of grip button their lasers use; I like.
And now I shall try to accomplish something other than pushing keys. Preferably without heat stroke or melting.

To: Chiappa Firearms
Ref: RFID chip and your response
Text: Fuck you, I won't buy your stuff.
Sincerely, etc.
That's about the only response that comes to mind after reading this "Silence, you irritating peasants" press release, which includes:
RFID Removal: For those still concerned you can simply remove the grip and remove the hot glued RFID from the frame in the grip area when (over a year from now) these begin to appear. Others may prefer to wrap the revolver and their head in aluminum foil, curl in a ball and watch reruns of Mel Gibson's 1997 film, Conspiracy Theory. Well, that's a plan too!
I've a better plan, clown: Don't Buy Chiappa Products.
As to the 'can only be read within a 2-3" distance crap, when I read that I thought "Really? I call bullcrap." Much better response:
Having no small experience now with RFID, let me tell you that they can be read by the appropriate reader at 30 meters. Furthermore no RFID chip reader that is being used for logistical control will have its range limited to 3 inches. A carton, or even pallets of materials will need a reader set to several feet. " Passive RFID is also a final check that verifies that what is inside the sealed box is the same thing as shown on the box exterior bar code during shipping. Now, it will no longer be necessary to open/inspect hundreds of boxes by hand prior to packing in export containers. " 3 inches eh? How is it going to read a pallet of material at 3 inches? I can only assume that MKS Distributors thinks most people are idiots, and incapable of figuring things out on their own.

There is a place; a dark and sinister place
where the stupid and bigotry burns. Burns, I tell you.
In my new book "Sex, Mom and God" I predicted just such an action. I predicted that right wing Christians will unleash terror here in America too. I predict that they will copy Islamic extremists, and may eventually even make common cause with them.
There is a growing movement in America that equates godliness with hatred of our government in fact hatred of our country as fallen and evil because we allow women choice, gays to marry, have a social safety net, and allow immigration from other cultures and non-white races.
Yeah. Uh huh. If I remember right, this is one of the clowns who shit his pants full because a black guy at a tea party rally in Arizona had a AR clone as his open-carry piece, and I doubt he has any problems with the disgusting hatred thrown at women like Michelle Malkin for speaking their piece, but it's conservatives and Christians that hate people not like themselves... As to the nutcase in Norway being called a 'radical conservative Christian',
Breivik described himself as not a religious person and mentions praying only once. His plans leading up to the attacks involved multiple visits to prostitutes. In one section of his manifesto he clarifies what he means by Christian.
Q: Do I have to believe in God or Jesus in order to become a Justiciar Knight?
no, you don’t need to have a personal relationship with God or Jesus to fight for our Christian cultural heritage. It is enough that you are a Christian-agnostic or a Christian-atheist (an atheist who wants to preserve at least the basics of the European Christian cultural legacy
Breivik did call himself a Christian, but meant that in a cultural sense, rather than a theological one. He emphasized that he was not seeking a theocracy, but a secular society. His idea of a Christian Europe had nothing to do with religion.
Jeez. It's at Tam's second link here; if I'm going to send traffic anywhere, I'd rather send it to her place.

NASA satellite data from the years 2000 through 2011
show the Earth's atmosphere is allowing far more heat to be released into space than alarmist computer models have predicted, reports a new study in the peer-reviewed science journal Remote Sensing. The study indicates far less future global warming will occur than United Nations computer models have predicted, and supports prior studies indicating increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide trap far less heat than alarmists have claimed.
...
The new NASA Terra satellite data are consistent with long-term NOAA and NASA data indicating atmospheric humidity and cirrus clouds are not increasing in the manner predicted by alarmist computer models. The Terra satellite data also support data collected by NASA's ERBS satellite showing far more longwave radiation (and thus, heat) escaped into space between 1985 and 1999 than alarmist computer models had predicted. Together, the NASA ERBS and Terra satellite data show that for 25 years and counting, carbon dioxide emissions have directly and indirectly trapped far less heat than alarmist computer models have predicted.
In short, the central premise of alarmist global warming theory is that carbon dioxide emissions should be directly and indirectly trapping a certain amount of heat in the earth's atmosphere and preventing it from escaping into space. Real-world measurements, however, show far less heat is being trapped in the earth's atmosphere than the alarmist computer models predict, and far more heat is escaping into space than the alarmist computer models predict.
Ah, but the science is settled, right?
One of the more common criticisms I've read of the AGW crap is the dependance on models; this just points out again that the models aren't worth crap.

So, if we go by the same standards used by the left
after the Norway murders, we have to assume that any muslim in the US Military who wants to be a 'conscientious objector' or says he won't fight against muslims should be removed from the military immediately and put on a terrorist suspect list.
Except with this, we actually have good reason to worry about it.
Except with this, we actually have good reason to worry about it.
Along with Wu being a high-level flake and Pelosi & Co.
wanting to just cover it up, I can't help thinking about this:
Last fall, Wu's senior campaign staff quit en masse after confronting him about his ongoing drinking problem, watching him throw hissy fits at the Portland International Airport and at a local Democratic Party event, and receiving the now-infamous e-mail photo of him smiling in a Tigger costume.
Wu's staff received another photo of him seemingly passed out on a bed in the same costume in the wee hours of the morning, along with incoherent e-mails from his official government BlackBerry signed in the names of his tween-age children. The staffers so feared what Wu might do next that they kept him hidden from public view in the final days of the campaign.
So he's been doing this crap for years, he was bad enough that his staff quit- after the last election- and actually hid him during the campaign BUT THEY STILL WORKED HARD TO GET HIM REELECTED.
Assholes.

Saw Captain America today
Good movie. The US is the good guys, the Germans of WWII the bad guys with a super bad guy who decides Hitler doesn't have the proper vision for conquering the world. And the good guy...
I liked it
