Downright pleasant the other day, now it's cold and snowing. And it should be in the 50's tomorrow.
And yes, it looks like it'll be knee replacement, between the damage on bone surfaces already and what would come in the future, that's about it. You can imagine the joy with which I look forward to this. The surgery is far better than before, and as a lot of you pointed out it'll make the future more pleasant; it's the surgery and recovery(and I know that, barring problems, that's pretty straightforward) that bothers me.
Ah well, it'll beat the alternative.

Arthroplasty procedures have gotten much much better over the decades. You can expect such a replacement to outlast you now. The BIGGEST risk from such procedures is post op infection. This is often a result of poor sterile technique of the OR crew and poorly done housekeeping allowing pathogens to flourish in the OR suite. This is a bigger problem in OutPatient surgery centers where turn around of rooms to increase profits is hammered on by bean counters. Ask the surgeon AND the proposed facility what their rate is for post op infections. Some places can have twice or more numbers of such complications as other facilities. It doesn't help that every day we get more and more antibiotic and disinfectant resistant germs appearing. It's germ warfare and the germs have been winning.
That sucks to hear re: knee replacement. I am on course for having both knees replaced and have been putting it off as long as possible. I'll be following this with great interest. Hope it goes as smoothly as it can...
